The word had traveled throughout the company at this point.

"Have you heard? Mr. Lane's new secretary is his wife."

"Huh? She might be pretty, but I think she's useless too."

Caleb had previously hired two secretaries and an assistant. The secretaries began to gossip about Ember, their newest colleague.

Ember sought out the secretaries with a statement in hand.

The secretaries assumed Ember intended to cause trouble based on her poker face.

"What's wrong?" one of the secretaries approached Ember and inquired.

"Nothing. Mr. Lane requested for this statement to be filled out earlier. I've completed it for you guys. Just look through it before passing it to him later."

Ember did the secretaries a favor just because it was convenient for her to do so.

"Okay, thanks!" The two secretaries thanked her quickly.

"She seems pretty decent, right?"

"Yup. I think she should be quite capable as well. Otherwise, how could Mr. Lane possibly favor her?"
