Two Months Ago.

"Take off your clothes," Alaric commanded the kids. Seraphine watched from the royal canopy as the younglings, six boys and four girls in total took off their clothes and stood under the moon, waiting for the moon goddess to bloom bright enough to bless them with her gifts. "Why do the boys and the girls have to take off their clothes in front of each other?" Seraphine asked, marveling at the scene in front of her. "Shouldn't there be a separate training system for each gender?". Theon, Alaric's Beta, let out a light chuckle. He wasn't surprised that she thought that way. Her parents had moved out of the Pack years before she was ready to turn. He couldn't help but wonder how her first shift went. "Here in the pack, we are a family," Theon said to Seraphine. "Our bodies, are our bodies. We do not look away from each other to undress. We are a family, and we dress as one, undress as one, and live as one," he explained with a hint of excitement and pride in his voice. Se

The present. Before Seraphine could hit the ground, Theon caught her. Tears rolled down her eyes as Alaric’s smiling face flashed before her. But in a split second it was replaced by the horror of him on the floor, blood stains marking his mouth. "Who would do that to him?" She asked, tears rolling down her cheeks as Theon helped her into a seat. "I don't know Seraphine, but we are going to make sure we find them and make them pay," Elara said. "Why would anyone want to hurt him? He was a good man, a good mate, and a good Alpha," Seraphine said, ignoring Elara's words. She couldn't hear her step-sister. She couldn't hear anything. The only thing that came to her mind was the thought of the pain Alaric must have felt. She felt a sharp pain in her chest as she cried out. At that moment, she couldn't help but hate herself. Her mate had been in pain. He had been poisoned and was in pain, but she couldn't feel it. Why couldn't she feel him at that moment? Why wasn't she able to share his p

Two Months Ago."How could you hide this from me?" Seraphine questioned as she followed Alaric from behind. He stopped and turned to her. "I didn't think it was necessary," he said to her. She let out a low chuckle. "You didn't think it was necessary? You didn't think it was necessary to.." She stopped and waited for some of the warriors to pass by. "To tell me that you found the corpse of a witch?" She questioned her voice a little above a whisper. "I had no choice." "No, you had a choice. You can either keep things from your mate or share them with me. So don't tell me you didn't have a choice when you already decided on one." Seraphine was about to walk past Alaric when he held her hand. "I made a promise to keep it away from you," he said to her. Seraphine raised a brow at him. "Who would want you to keep something like that from me?" As the words left her mouth, she stopped. There was only one person who would ask that of Alaric, her father. She pulled her arm away from his and w

"Fight Seraphine! Fight! Fight!" Seraphine gasped as she jerked awake. "Are you okay?" Elara asked as she tried to touch Seraphine's temple, but Seraphine dodged her touch. "You had another nightmare—didn't you?" Seraphine sighed. "I'm sorry about that," She said, apologizing for earlier. "Don't worry about it. You don't look so good," Elara said as she handed Seraphine a silk cloth to wipe off the sweat on her temple. "Was it the same as the other ones?" Seraphine nodded as she took the cloth. She wiped the cold sweat without saying anything to Elara. They had been on the road for two days, and she kept having nightmares. It was a dream of a man sitting on the Alpha King's seat, with his back to her. There was blood beneath his feet, and corpses scattered all over the floor. Whenever she tried to move closer to see him, she would be pulled away. The dream always ended with him yelling at her. Seraphine didn't know what the dream meant, but anytime she woke up, she was always scared.

Gareth chuckled. "He attacked you? Ryan would never attack anyone," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "Then you knew him," Seraphine muttered. Gareth frowned. He raised his hand and signaled for everyone to stop. "We'll take a break, while I take the Queen to a corner where she can relieve herself." Without saying anything else, he started walking, and Seraphine followed him from behind. When they had put some distance between them and the others, he turned to her. But Seraphine spun him around and kicked him behind his knee, forcing him to kneel. Without her claws out, she held him by the throat. "If you move, I will kill you. If you try to twist or avoid any of my questions, I'll slit your throat; and if you remain silent, I'll still rip your throat out. So start talking. How did you know that rogue? And how did you get into the Bloodmoon pack?" She questioned. Gareth let out a chuckle. "Your questions are a lot, Luna. I wouldn't know where to start—" Before he could comple

Seraphine was shocked. She knew that Alpha Daven was dangerous, but not to this extent. Just then, something came to her mind. "You're a rogue returning to a pack you ran away from, wouldn't you be punished?" She asked Gareth. He chuckled. "You're the one heading to Redwood Pack, Luna, not me," he said. Seraphine raised a brow at him. "So what do you intend to do when we get there?" "I was planning on leaving Luna. I was only given the task of taking you there, not going in with you." Seraphine kept thinking about what he said. There was something that wasn't adding up. He was a rogue who harbored hatred for her and was let into the pack. There was no way he snuck in. "You were made a guard, by whom?" She asked him. He was silent at first, but then he spoke up. "By Beta Theon." "Was the Alpha King aware that his trusted friend and ally let someone who hated his Luna into his pack?" Gareth's eyes widened. He moaned as he tried to sit up properly. He was still hurting from her assault.

  • Veil of the Bloodmoon    A Mother's love.

Two months agoSeraphine watched as Alaric and his men trained. They needed to be prepared before heading out. Though the Elders had agreed that she would lead the pack in his absence, she still felt scared. What if something bad happens while he is away? What if something goes wrong? "Hmm, I sense something here," Elara said, pulling Seraphine out of her thoughts. Seraphine turned to her. "What's that?" "Well, I noticed it a few days ago, but I wasn't sure," She said. Seraphine raised a brow at her. "You smell different. Like someone who's been mating consistently with her mate." Hearing those words, a flush of pink crept onto Seraphine's cheeks. Elara chuckled. "I knew it! Spill it, Sera; when did it happen, and how did it happen?" She asked. Seraphine smiled. "A few days ago... In the garden," She said and paused, her face turning red. "Under the moonlight." Elara gasped. She grabbed Seraphine's hands. "You had your first time under the Moon Goddess's gaze. That's so romantic!" She

Seraphine and the members of the Bloodmoon pack followed Stark and his men. He led them through the woods and to the pack house. The Redmoon pack wasn't as huge and grand as the Bloodmoon pack, but the buildings looked like they were being remodeled. But what caught Seraphine's attention the most were the people in tattered clothes who were carrying bricks. There were also people dressed like Stark's men who had whips in their hands. An old man crouched down, trying to catch his breath. All of a sudden, a guy dressed in black let down his whip on him with full force. "How dare you?!" He yelled as he whipped the old man again. Seraphine's eyes widened, and her people gasped at the sight of it. She wanted to ask what was going on, but she knew exactly what it was. During her travels with her parents, she heard rumors that this was how the witches treated the rogue wolves that entered their lands. They made the men work and made the women their sex slaves. Seraphine was shocked. She had no idea Daven had found his mate. A part of her felt guilty. She had come from the Bloodmoon pack to the Redmoon pack to ask Daven to marry her, someone else's mate. Though she had prepared for a situation like this, seeing how cheerful Elaina was made her feel guilty. She was too nice to hurt her by taking away the Moon Goddess's gift from her. The silence in the room made the atmosphere tense. "Well, Alpha, I have to say, you were gifted an amazing woman by the Moon Goddess," Seraphine said, breaking the silence. With a smile on her face, Elaina pulled her into a hug. " I am honored, Luna," Elaina said. She looked from Daven to Seraphine. "Well, we had better hurry, so we can get you settled in, and prepare you for the dinner party." Seraphine was confused. "What dinner part?" She asked. "Oh, well, Daven had informed me earlier to prepare for a grand party, that we would be expecting an important guest. I just didn't know you were the one we would be h

Elara's POVOne of Alpha Daven's rogues carried me on his back till we got out of my sister's sight, then dropped me on the ground with a thud. I straightened my back to ease the pain. I didn't think Seraphine would realize I was gone so soon. These men were supposed to have taken me away before Seraphine managed to find out I was gone. I don't know why she had been hellbent on leaving Redmoon so quickly, she ruined all my plans, and now I had to think of a way out. ---------- A few hours earlier. I watched Seraphine as she turned to leave. She seemed to think everything that was happening was her fault. Well, technically, it was, if she had not insisted that we leave Redmoon in the middle of the night, we wouldn't have been attacked and no one would be so tired and injured. Grabbing the clothes she gave me, I walked to the back of the camp. After changing, I made a slow whistle and a black pigeon flew in and perched on my shoulder. Looking around to make sure there was no one looking

Seraphine stared in shock, the bodyguard had just confirmed the stranger's words. " She ordered me to contact the rogues and arrange Alpha Carlson’s assassination. She told me to get him out of the way." He said hastily. Seraphine felt a momentary wave of relief and then anger washed over her. "Why would she do this? What is her plan?" She didn't get to finish her question before he pulled a white potion out of his pocket and poured it into his mouth before any of them could blink. Her eyes widened as his mouth started foaming almost immediately. The stranger immediately sprung to action, he turned the bodyguard's head upside down and tried to make him spill out the potion, but it was already late, his body convulsed a few times before he became still with his eyes staring lifelessly into space and his lips turning black. Seraphine stared at what just happened in horror, "What in the seven worlds just happened ?" she asked. "He ingested poison. It is a common practice with assassins.

" The Alpha of the Bluemoon pack is dead, and I am the only witness," she whispered, the severity of the situation dawning on her. "They can't possibly think you were the one that killed him, right? Let's just be glad the rogues have left now, they will most certainly regroup and come soon, so we need to leave." Gareth said. However, Seraphine's troubles were far from over. Within the next few hours, rumors would spread that she was the one responsible for Carlson's death. The witches would believe that she had betrayed them, and seek retribution. Soraya would most likely be convinced that Seraphine had orchestrated the assassination and call for her capture. Worry made her insides twist as she wondered how she could get herself out of this situation. Just then, "Seraphine,"she heard her name being called. She turned, and it was Soraya, her voice cold and cutting. "We need to talk." Seraphine straightened, meeting Soraya's gaze with steely determination. "I have nothing more to say to

  • Veil of the Bloodmoon    Making enemies.

Seraphine squinted her eyes as the rays of the morning sun filtered through the curtains. She had spent most of the night thinking of a way out, and now it was time to make a decision. She got ready for the day and left her room. The pack house was silent as she descended the stairs. Soraya and some other witches were already waiting for her in the main hall. Joining forces with the Bluemoon Pack would give her more power, security and a means to defeat her enemies, but it also meant turning her back on everything her pack had stood for, betraying the legacy her father had fought and died to protect. The witches' eyes followed Seraphine as she approached. Soraya’s gaze was sharp and expectant. "Have you made your decision, Seraphine?" she asked, her voice echoing through the hall. Taking a deep breath, Seraphine straightened her back and squared her shoulders to put on a bold font: "I have. I am sorry, but I cannot align with you, Soraya. The cost is too high. It is something I can re

  • Veil of the Bloodmoon    The weight of choices.

Seraphine retired to her room for the night, her mind racing with new discoveries and realizations. She had to make a decision that would ensure both her safety and that of her pack. The Bluemoon pack was being ruled by witches!. "How is that even possible?", she thought. As she entered the room, she closed the door quietly behind her and leaned against it with a sigh, closing her eyes. She missed the comfort of the room she had shared with Alaric back at Bloodmoon, but all that seemed like another lifetime now, she felt like she had aged a little in the past few days. The flickering light from the single candle on the nightstand painted her features in a mosaic of a shadow on the wall opposite her. She stared at her shadow for a long while and let out a deep breath trying to calm the storm brewing within her. Choosing Alpha Carlson as the Alpha King means joining forces with the witches and the Bluemoon pack. It means granting power to the witches, to the people who had been forced i

  • Veil of the Bloodmoon    The prophecy.

Out of everything Seraphine had expected her to say, a prophecy was the least of her expectations. "What are you talking about?" She asked. "It was foretold by the chief priestess of our pack a hundred years ago." Seraphine's brow furrowed. She had been curious to hear what Soraya had to say, but nothing had prepared her for this. "A prophecy? About me? That sounds... impossible." Soraya leaned forward, her silver hair catching the light, giving her an almost otherworldly appearance. "Not impossible, dear. It is written in the stars. A Luna will rise, one who will endure immense trials and tribulations, yet she will be the one to unite all the packs." Seraphine felt a chill run down her spine. "Luna? You mean... me?" "Yes, you, you are a beacon of hope to our people," Soraya replied, her eyes glinting with conviction. "You possess the strength and the spirit that was mentioned in the prophecy. You have been destined to bring unity and harmony to our world, but the journey will not be

  • Veil of the Bloodmoon    The proposal.

Seraphine's heart raced with anticipation. She hoped she would be able to convince Alpha Carlson as soon as possible. Moments later, she heard a voice telling her to come in and she opened the door. Alpha Carlson was seated on a couch in the office and Shaman Soraya sat on the couch opposite him. They seemed to be having a serious conversation. The Alpha's office looked more functional than luxurious, as opposed to the rest of the pack house. The walls were painted in a simple beige color, giving the room a neutral backdrop. A sturdy and unadorned wooden desk sat against one wall. It was covered with stacks of paperwork and a few scattered pens, suggesting that he had a busy schedule but lacking any personal touch. In one corner of the room, lay a desk with a chair behind it and two mismatched chairs in front of it. The table itself bore the marks of frequent use, with scratches and stains that gave an idea of how long it had been in use. On one side of the room, two couches sat facin

An omega led them through a hallway to their rooms. "Here we are, Luna," she said in a soft voice. "Thank you," Seraphine responded with a smile. Before she went in, she pulled Gareth to the side. "When you are done resting, I want you to survey the pack and see how things are done here. I don't want what happened in Redmoon pack to repeat itself." "Yes Luna, you can go in and rest. It's obvious you are tired. I will come with a report later." He replied, and she gave him a grateful smile in return. Seraphine stepped into the guest room, eager to get out of her clothes and take a bath. She felt a wave of warmth wash over her. The room was so inviting and filled with a rich scent of recently polished wood and a faint hint of lavender. Thick cream curtains draped over the windows, casting a soft glow in the room with the late afternoon light. In the corner stood a wooden bathtub with steam rising gently from the water that had been drawn just for her. Seraphine could already feel the te

Present day.The next morning, everyone was up as soon as the first ray of sun pierced through the clouds. Seraphine had barely slept, she was torn between going to look for her sister and continuing their journey. Both were very important and time dependent, the life of all the members of her pack depended on it, but Elara was also her only sister, and she would rather die than let anything happen to her. Seraphine couldn't think of anyone that would have a personal vendetta against Elara. "She was definitely kidnapped by my enemies to get leverage over me", she thought. She couldn't help but feel guilty that if anything happened to her sister, it would be her fault. When the camp was packed and ready to go, they made sure they covered their tracks and any sign that they had been there, in order to make it difficult for anyone following them to predict their movements. Seraphine decided to split the traveling group into two. She looked around at everyone. Mike, one of the pack warrio
