Two Months Ago.

"Take off your clothes," Alaric commanded the kids. Seraphine watched from the royal canopy as the younglings, six boys and four girls in total took off their clothes and stood under the moon, waiting for the moon goddess to bloom bright enough to bless them with her gifts. "Why do the boys and the girls have to take off their clothes in front of each other?" Seraphine asked, marveling at the scene in front of her. "Shouldn't there be a separate training system for each gender?". Theon, Alaric's Beta, let out a light chuckle. He wasn't surprised that she thought that way. Her parents had moved out of the Pack years before she was ready to turn. He couldn't help but wonder how her first shift went. "Here in the pack, we are a family," Theon said to Seraphine. "Our bodies, are our bodies. We do not look away from each other to undress. We are a family, and we dress as one, undress as one, and live as one," he explained with a hint of excitement and pride in his voice. Se

The present. Before Seraphine could hit the ground, Theon caught her. Tears rolled down her eyes as Alaric’s smiling face flashed before her. But in a split second it was replaced by the horror of him on the floor, blood stains marking his mouth. "Who would do that to him?" She asked, tears rolling down her cheeks as Theon helped her into a seat. "I don't know Seraphine, but we are going to make sure we find them and make them pay," Elara said. "Why would anyone want to hurt him? He was a good man, a good mate, and a good Alpha," Seraphine said, ignoring Elara's words. She couldn't hear her step-sister. She couldn't hear anything. The only thing that came to her mind was the thought of the pain Alaric must have felt. She felt a sharp pain in her chest as she cried out. At that moment, she couldn't help but hate herself. Her mate had been in pain. He had been poisoned and was in pain, but she couldn't feel it. Why couldn't she feel him at that moment? Why wasn't she able to share his p

Two Months Ago."How could you hide this from me?" Seraphine questioned as she followed Alaric from behind. He stopped and turned to her. "I didn't think it was necessary," he said to her. She let out a low chuckle. "You didn't think it was necessary? You didn't think it was necessary to.." She stopped and waited for some of the warriors to pass by. "To tell me that you found the corpse of a witch?" She questioned her voice a little above a whisper. "I had no choice." "No, you had a choice. You can either keep things from your mate or share them with me. So don't tell me you didn't have a choice when you already decided on one." Seraphine was about to walk past Alaric when he held her hand. "I made a promise to keep it away from you," he said to her. Seraphine raised a brow at him. "Who would want you to keep something like that from me?" As the words left her mouth, she stopped. There was only one person who would ask that of Alaric, her father. She pulled her arm away from his and w

"Fight Seraphine! Fight! Fight!" Seraphine gasped as she jerked awake. "Are you okay?" Elara asked as she tried to touch Seraphine's temple, but Seraphine dodged her touch. "You had another nightmare—didn't you?" Seraphine sighed. "I'm sorry about that," She said, apologizing for earlier. "Don't worry about it. You don't look so good," Elara said as she handed Seraphine a silk cloth to wipe off the sweat on her temple. "Was it the same as the other ones?" Seraphine nodded as she took the cloth. She wiped the cold sweat without saying anything to Elara. They had been on the road for two days, and she kept having nightmares. It was a dream of a man sitting on the Alpha King's seat, with his back to her. There was blood beneath his feet, and corpses scattered all over the floor. Whenever she tried to move closer to see him, she would be pulled away. The dream always ended with him yelling at her. Seraphine didn't know what the dream meant, but anytime she woke up, she was always scared.

Gareth chuckled. "He attacked you? Ryan would never attack anyone," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "Then you knew him," Seraphine muttered. Gareth frowned. He raised his hand and signaled for everyone to stop. "We'll take a break, while I take the Queen to a corner where she can relieve herself." Without saying anything else, he started walking, and Seraphine followed him from behind. When they had put some distance between them and the others, he turned to her. But Seraphine spun him around and kicked him behind his knee, forcing him to kneel. Without her claws out, she held him by the throat. "If you move, I will kill you. If you try to twist or avoid any of my questions, I'll slit your throat; and if you remain silent, I'll still rip your throat out. So start talking. How did you know that rogue? And how did you get into the Bloodmoon pack?" She questioned. Gareth let out a chuckle. "Your questions are a lot, Luna. I wouldn't know where to start—" Before he could comple

Seraphine was shocked. She knew that Alpha Daven was dangerous, but not to this extent. Just then, something came to her mind. "You're a rogue returning to a pack you ran away from, wouldn't you be punished?" She asked Gareth. He chuckled. "You're the one heading to Redwood Pack, Luna, not me," he said. Seraphine raised a brow at him. "So what do you intend to do when we get there?" "I was planning on leaving Luna. I was only given the task of taking you there, not going in with you." Seraphine kept thinking about what he said. There was something that wasn't adding up. He was a rogue who harbored hatred for her and was let into the pack. There was no way he snuck in. "You were made a guard, by whom?" She asked him. He was silent at first, but then he spoke up. "By Beta Theon." "Was the Alpha King aware that his trusted friend and ally let someone who hated his Luna into his pack?" Gareth's eyes widened. He moaned as he tried to sit up properly. He was still hurting from her assault.

  • Veil of the Bloodmoon    A Mother's love.

Two months agoSeraphine watched as Alaric and his men trained. They needed to be prepared before heading out. Though the Elders had agreed that she would lead the pack in his absence, she still felt scared. What if something bad happens while he is away? What if something goes wrong? "Hmm, I sense something here," Elara said, pulling Seraphine out of her thoughts. Seraphine turned to her. "What's that?" "Well, I noticed it a few days ago, but I wasn't sure," She said. Seraphine raised a brow at her. "You smell different. Like someone who's been mating consistently with her mate." Hearing those words, a flush of pink crept onto Seraphine's cheeks. Elara chuckled. "I knew it! Spill it, Sera; when did it happen, and how did it happen?" She asked. Seraphine smiled. "A few days ago... In the garden," She said and paused, her face turning red. "Under the moonlight." Elara gasped. She grabbed Seraphine's hands. "You had your first time under the Moon Goddess's gaze. That's so romantic!" She

  • Veil of the Bloodmoon    Meeting the Alpha.

Seraphine and the members of the Bloodmoon pack followed Stark and his men. He led them through the woods and to the pack house. The Redmoon pack wasn't as huge and grand as the Bloodmoon pack, but the buildings looked like they were being remodeled. But what caught Seraphine's attention the most were the people in tattered clothes who were carrying bricks. There were also people dressed like Stark's men who had whips in their hands. An old man crouched down, trying to catch his breath. All of a sudden, a guy dressed in black let down his whip on him with full force. "How dare you?!" He yelled as he whipped the old man again. Seraphine's eyes widened, and her people gasped at the sight of it. She wanted to ask what was going on, but she knew exactly what it was. During her travels with her parents, she heard rumors that this was how the witches treated the rogue wolves that entered their lands. They made the men work and made the women their sex slaves. Seraphine couldn't help but won

Seraphine was shocked. She had no idea Daven had found his mate. A part of her felt guilty. She had come from the Bloodmoon pack to the Redmoon pack to ask Daven to marry her, someone else's mate. Though she had prepared for a situation like this, seeing how cheerful Elaina was made her feel guilty. She was too nice to hurt her by taking away the Moon Goddess's gift from her. The silence in the room made the atmosphere tense. "Well, Alpha, I have to say, you were gifted an amazing woman by the Moon Goddess," Seraphine said, breaking the silence. With a smile on her face, Elaina pulled her into a hug. " I am honored, Luna," Elaina said. She looked from Daven to Seraphine. "Well, we had better hurry, so we can get you settled in, and prepare you for the dinner party." Seraphine was confused. "What dinner part?" She asked. "Oh, well, Daven had informed me earlier to prepare for a grand party, that we would be expecting an important guest. I just didn't know you were the one we would be h

  • Veil of the Bloodmoon    Victory at last

The women finally dispersed, Seraphine looked back at the gathering of the happy wolves. She got a series of subtle nods of respect and warm smiles from the people around her. A massive bonfire roared in the center of the clearing; its golden flames crackled, sending sparks dancing into the night. It reminded Seraphine of the late-night parties they used to have back at the pack where she was born. She leaned against a wooden barrel near a makeshift table piled high with food and jars of alcohol. A group of teenage wolves ran around the edge of the clearing as they played a game of tag. Their laughter was loud and carefree, making her smile. “It’s good to see them like this,” Soraya sat beside her, holding two wooden mugs. She looked more relaxed than Seraphine had seen her since she arrived and there was a rare smile on her face, but her eyes held a certain sadness in them. Seraphine was sure she had taken Carlson's death very badly. Seraphine nodded in appreciation when she handed h

By dawn, Soraya was completely healed. Seraphine and the other witches listened in horror as she told them what had transpired between her and Aldwin. "Why did you go by yourself? Do you have a death wish?" Seraphine admonished. "I have known him my whole life. I wanted to try and see if I could make him change his mind," Soraya said quietly. "Apparently, it didn’t turn out well," Seraphine scolded. "You could have died," she continued. "I know, but I couldn't just sit back and watch him kill innocent people. He killed the only man I have ever loved, and I let him get away with it. I won't let it happen again," Soraya said firmly. The night was thick with tension as the witches, Seraphine and her guards assembled outside Aldwin's house. The moon shone brightly in the sky, it was as if the moon goddess was with them. Seraphine exchanged a glance with Soraya. The woman had warned them of how powerful he was. "We are ready for anything," Seraphine said, her voice steady and unwavering. S

  • Veil of the Bloodmoon    Black Magic.

"What was that?" Seraphine asked urgently as she and Soraya walked into the room. Seraphine had seen the look of sheer horror on the older woman's face when she was looking at what had happened outside. "It is called mind grabbing," a voice interjected. Seraphine looked up to see an old woman walk into the room. "Amaya," Soraya gasped, going towards the woman and assisting her to a chair. The old woman was almost eighty years old, but she was still as agile as ever. She shot the witch a look as she attempted to assist her. She was the older sister to the woman that died this morning, and she was one of the oldest people in the pack. "What you saw is one of the most dangerous forms of black magic. It takes over the soul and mind of the person hexed, and their actions can be completely controlled by whoever is behind it." She continued. Seraphine shared a look with Soraya as they both came to the obvious conclusion. "It's Aldwin," Soraya said, her voice resigned. "We have to stop him. H

  • Veil of the Bloodmoon    An alliance.

With a sigh, Soraya took a seat opposite her. "This is going to take a while," she started. According to stories, during the purge when witches were being prosecuted, the world had presumed all witches to be corrupt. However, the problem was that the vast majority of witches then had started using dark magic, which fed on people's souls and rendered them heartless, and they killed people indiscriminately. That is what led to the misconception that all witches are wicked. And based on what I have known my whole life, all witches using dark magic have been killed, including my parents, until tonight." "What do you mean?" Seraphine asked. "When I was nineteen, I was kicked out of yet another pack. Alwin took me in when I was wandering around hungry and homeless. He took me under his wing and taught me almost everything I know." "Who is he? I would assume he is a witch too," Seraphine asked. Soraya was skeptical, growing silent for a moment. "How do I know if I can trust you with all this

The room was cool and shadowy, illuminated by multiple flickering candlelights. 'He' sat at the end of the room on what looked like his own personal throne. His eyes glinted with an almost unnatural intensity as he turned to face me. Seraphine held her breath as she leaped against the door that Soraya had just gone through. She had seen the older woman sitting all by herself looking sad and dejected, which came as a surprise to her. Before she could decide whether to approach her or not, Soraya had stood up and started looking around suspiciously. Seraphine had followed her when she took a mysterious turn to a passage that no one would have thought existed. She had almost given herself away when she stepped on a twig. She held her breath for what felt like hours before the woman continued. Seraphine couldn't get a glimpse into the room when Soraya entered. She leaned her ears against the door as she tried to hear what they were saying. "Soraya," 'he' said, his voice smooth and command

Later that evening at Casper's House, Casper watched a bit bored as his son paced around in his office. "Beta Theon is being stubborn. Can't we just get rid of him? He seems to have this sick idea that he will play Alpha for as long as he likes. Everyone should have started preparing for my coronation by now," he said, his frustration obvious. "No, we can't get rid of the Beta. If we do, the remaining elders will flock around the throne like flies," Casper said calmly. "He is being very difficult. How are we going to get him to work for us? What if the Queen returns? Let me go with a few men, and we will hunt her down and make sure she never does," he said, leaning over his father's table. "Everyone has a price. We just need to find the right thing one for Theon. He will work for us sooner or later," he said. "The little Queen is not going to return. Her little show of power was fun while it lasted. I have ordered men to discreetly kill her and anyone with her as soon as she tries to c

"The neighboring packs have stopped paying their respective tributes. We all know what could happen next. The werewolf kingdom needs a new Alpha King, and we need one now!" Another man yelled from the back, earning a lot of agreeing nods and murmurs from the rest. "What are you insinuating, Gerald? What do you mean, "we all know what could happen next" ?" Saleem, the leader of the eastern house, countered, walking forward. "How dare you insinuate treason in the Palace? The supremacy and power of the late King Alaric will never die," he continued, his face looking a bit red from his outburst. "Don't try to impress anyone with your fake and over-pronounced loyalty. We all know how selfish you are. " Whatever you say here can only be in your best interest," another man countered, making Saleem's face even redder. He wagged his hands in front of him at the offensive comment as he tried to get other words out, his face turning a sick shade of green. The sound of the main doors opening inte

"You do not have to kill her," I said nervously, my heart was beating so loudly that I was sure he could hear it. "You just have to make sure she doesn't return till after the coronation," I continued. "And then what?" He asked. "What will happen to her when she returns to the Palace? She won't just sit around and watch me rule, and I will have you know, I don't take it lightly when my authority is questioned," he said threateningly as he walked around me. "Well, you can make her submit," I stuttered. He was in my face in an instant, his hands gripping my jaw tightly. "That's not possible, I can't be the ultimate Alpha King if we have your sister going around with that little Luna power of hers. The permanent and only solution is that we kill her. Do you agree or not?!" He yelled. Trying my best not to shiver, I nodded and he released my face. "You can do with her what you please, as long as my conditions are met, we are good. We will rule the kingdom together," I said in a low voice,

Elara's POVOne of Alpha Daven's rogues carried me on his back till we got out of my sister's sight, then dropped me on the ground with a thud. I straightened my back to ease the pain. I didn't think Seraphine would realize I was gone so soon. These men were supposed to have taken me away before Seraphine managed to find out I was gone. I don't know why she had been hellbent on leaving Redmoon so quickly, she ruined all my plans, and now I had to think of a way out. ---------- A few hours earlier. I watched Seraphine as she turned to leave. She seemed to think everything that was happening was her fault. Well, technically, it was, if she had not insisted that we leave Redmoon in the middle of the night, we wouldn't have been attacked and no one would be so tired and injured. Grabbing the clothes she gave me, I walked to the back of the camp. After changing, I made a slow whistle and a black pigeon flew in and perched on my shoulder. Looking around to make sure there was no one looking
