Maria's POV

"Looks like you are ready to get the party started" Alpha Felix's unmistakable face was staring at me in the dark, his eyes glinting with an evil smile.

"What do you want from me?" I said as I backed away trying to escape from the room but he had seen through my intention so he locked the door quickly before I could get to it.

"Leaving so soon?" He asked me, his eyes boring a hole into my chest.

"I can't do what you are asking of me. I can't!" I yelled back at him, but he didn't flinch. I saw two bodyguards emerging from the shadows and all my senses became alert.

"You see, I always thought that you were wise but you have proven to me that you are just like the other women. You want me to put in the work, and go the extra mile to make you bow to my desires, which at the end of the day, it's even enjoyable for you. I would really hate to do this the hard way" he said and the fear threatened to cripple my legs as I thought of a possible way to escape.

"Give up already."

Maria's POV "It was your first time?" Sophie asked, her voice filled with disgust and envy. I held my stomach as the pain tore through my body, threatening to cripple me. "Argh" I groaned and sat on the floor, the blood dripping to the ground. "I think you should go to the clinic," she said and turned, leaving me to my fate. I lay there, trying to regulate my breathing before I dragged myself to wear my clothes. When I managed to get out of the room, the girls alongside Sophie looked at me like I was faking it. "Look at her!" One of them commented and they laughed. "Oh don't worry sweet innocent girl, by the time he touches you for the fourth time, you won't even feel anything" another one teased and the girls laughed harder. My chest hurt with the pain I felt as my head began to work a way for me to escape. My mind was so distracted that I jumped when I felt a hand on my shoulders. I looked up to see Maya, one of the youngest servants in the palace. Everyone knew that Alpha Fe

Olivia's POV My arms hurt miserably as I tried to lift myself to the top of the fence to my freedom. I slipped and fell back to where I started. My waist hit the floor with a heavy thud. I groaned and winged, attracting the attention of the guards. "Who is there?" One of them bellowed and I immediately picked myself up and limped as fast as I could back to the servant's quarters. Sophie was on the bed, her eyes heavy with pain and immediately she saw me, I saw the guilt in her eyes. She turned her back to me and faced the walls. I wanted to speak to her but she had betrayed me and led me to be abused by Alpha Felix. I began packing my clothes, which were my slave uniforms and some clothes that I had just been given by Dexter from the hospital. He was such a sweet and kind man and I was happy that Maya who had been kind to me in the past few hours, got enough happiness to last her for a lifetime. "What are you doing?" Sophie asked me but I didn't answer her. She got up from her b

Maria's POV The next morning, I was awake early, Maya's side of the bed was empty and I struggled to get up. It felt like the worst sleep that I have had in a while because my nerves were everywhere. Maya came back inside the room, her eyes bright with joy as she clasped a plate under her arm. She smiled at me as she put the plates down, my mouth watering immediately at the sight in front of me. I wondered why I had even tried to escape through the fence the day before. Things were beginning to look up for me and I was not going to jinx it. "Good morning Maya" I greeted her, smiling from ear to ear. It was hard to believe that I had not even known her for up to a day, yet she had taken care of me more than the family I've known my whole life. "Good morning Maria. How was your sleep?" She asked me and I smiled. "It was fine. By the time I moved in yesterday, you were already fast asleep and I didn't want to disturb you, considering that you had been stressed and slept late too" I

Maria's POV "Come in" his gruff voice came from inside. I knew that it had not been long since he had woken up and if for anything, he was currently trying to paint the perfect sunrise of my naked body.I eased the door open, wondering if Sophie was sticking to our plan. My stomach growled, not from hunger for the first time, but from my nerves messing with my insides. I walked in slowly, looking around to make sure that I was getting any surprises. Alpha Felix was seated by his window, his brows furrowed in a knot as it seemed like he was having an artist's block. I wondered if today had not been the wrong day and struggled to focus on my plan. "Good morning Alpha" I greeted him but he merely grunted in response. I immediately set to work, cleaning his room as hard as I could. Since my mind was everywhere, the only way I could ease the burden on my shoulder was to bury my head in my work. "Argh" I yelled when suddenly I was grabbed from behind and thrown on the end. Even though I

Maria's POV I wiped my lips furiously as I made my way out of the room. Sophie was smiling satisfactorily. I hated the fact that we were now being forced to be friends after everything that she had done to me. I didn't want to talk to her after everything we had done even though I knew she was itching to talk to me. "You know, I never thought you would be this useful to me at any point. It's a good thing that I never wrote you off" She smirked and I wondered if she didn't feel any type of way after what I had just witnessed. "I'll let you know when next I'm meeting with him. But you know, this has to stay between us" I warned her and she nodded her head. "Yes, I'm aware. Now I have to go to my duty post before the head maid notices my disappearance" she said and hurried away. Something immediately told me that she could not be trusted. I knew that already but still, I was preparing my mind for the worst betrayal. I just didn't know how. There was a slow rumble in my stomach and I

  • Veil Of Destiny   21: Epic Fail

Maria's POV My blood froze just as my face did. I had not expected to be betrayed like this. I wondered if Maya knew about what was going on. Alpha Felix had known all along but kept quiet about it. Why had he gone ahead with the plan if he knew it wasn't me he was sleeping with? I couldn't believe it. A plan I had worked so hard to think through had failed even before it started. It hurt and my ego was bruised too. "You didn't think a flimsy blindfold would convince me to touch another woman that wasn't you?" He asked and a mischievous smile spread on his face. "I...I... I didn't know. Why would Dexter...""Oh please? You think because he treats Maya the way he does that he is a good person? Have you ever wondered what he would do if he wasn't the head of the clinic?" He asked me and I stood there not knowing what next to do."Dexter loves her," I said, refusing to believe the words that were coming out of his mouth. "Suit yourself. To be honest, I couldn't care less about that

Maria's POV "Can you even hear what I am saying at all?" Maya's voice cut into my thoughts and I nearly jumped. My fate here has turned for the good but finding out that Maya was merely a pawn for Alpha Felix hurt my heart. I didn't know if I should believe what Dexter was saying or warn Maya to be careful. I decided to get the exact picture of what she was going through from her. "How's your relationship with Dexter?" I asked her and she paused for a brief moment before speaking. "It's good. You know how much he loves me. Why are you asking this?" She asked me and it was my turn to hesitate before speaking. "I just want to be sure that everything was really fine. Remember that you have helped me come out of a dark place, if there is anything happening to you that you feel like I should know, I promise that I won't judge you or make you feel...""Slow down," Maya said, cutting me short with a wave of her hands, "have you been listening to the rumors?" Sophie's POVI made my way to the servant's quarters, my chest bubbling in anger. They had no right to treat me like I was not important in the grand scheme of things. I huffed and puffed all the way to my chambers, ignoring everyone every step of the way. Slamming the door to my room, I threw my clothes on the bed and let out a howling scream. My plans were not going so well and the mere thought of it was frustrating me. I couldn't believe that Alpha Felix had given the judgment that he did. Just then the door eased open and my secret lover walked in. We have been together since I came to the palace and he was the only thing that had been keeping sane in my quest to ascend to the hierarchy. "What do you want Dexter?" I sneered at him as he made his way towards me and gathered my waist in his arms. "I came straight from the clinic. I didn't want you to be alone tonight. Will you go with me back to my place?" He asked me as he rained kisses on my ears and my neck. I mumbled a few w

Maria's POV It wasn't hard to find my way to the clinic the next day. I had a lot I wanted to talk about with Elvira. The nightmare I had was heavy on my mind but I needed to ask her if she could help me return the Alpha's staff of authority. It didn't take long for me to get to the clinic, but I hesitated before knocking on Elvira's door. "Come in" her cool voice invited me in. Without any more hesitation, I turned the lock and eased the door open. Her office had a strong smell of antiseptic, one that made me gag. "Oh, Maria. I was not expecting you so soon. Is everything okay with you and the baby?" She asked, pointing to the seat in front of her. "I am fine. I've just been having the backache I kept complaining to you about, it seems to be getting worse" I said to her, hoping that she didn't see through me. "Alright. I'll give you a painkiller to help with the pain but it all boils down to you resting and sleeping a lot. You are entering your third trimester, it's the last hur

  • Veil Of Destiny   35: Uncontrollable Feelings

Alpha Leo's POV My chest was clogged tight when I woke up. I had a dream, a bad one. It was not pleasant at all and even after I had woken up, the fear still carried with me. In that dream, I had seen a silver wolf driving a sword right through my chest. It had felt so real that there was a dull pain right at the spot that the sword had gone right through. "What are you doing awake?" Sophia's voice came to me from the dark, apparently my jerking awake had also woken her up too. "Did I wake you?" I asked, not knowing what else to say since I couldn't tell her the dream I had. "Yes, you did. But that was not the question I asked" she said and I shook my head to rid myself of the thoughts of the dream. It didn't work. "I had a dream. It woke me up. Sorry, that woke you up" I answered and turned my back to her to sleep. "What dream did you have?" She asked and turned on the bedside lamps. I squinted my eyes to adjust to the sudden influx of light in the room. She had sat up and was

  • Veil Of Destiny   34: A new world

Maria's POV "She must be sent away, I don't care what happens. You have to send her away. I can't believe you would stall in doing this?" I heard Elizabeth's sharp voice. I had followed Alpha Elijah back to the palace because he had forgotten his scepter. It was embarrassing that I had run into them like this, especially since I knew that Elizabeth was talking about him throwing me out of the palace. It was all too much. I wanted to just catch a break and it seemed as if I kept moving from a bad place to worse. It was already enough that I was pregnant for a man who wouldn't even look at me, I had fallen prey to a deranged pervert Alpha who only wanted to do whatever he could to sleep with me. Now, finally, in a place where I should get breathing space, I was still plagued by a woman that I had done absolutely nothing but exist to. "You can't ask me for such a thing. She is under my protection as a pack member now. You should know me better than that" I heard Alpha Elijah's reassu

  • Veil Of Destiny   33: An Empty Desire

Alpha Felix's POV "What are you doing here?" I barked at Maya as she made her way into my chambers. I had specifically asked the guards not to let anyone in as I wanted to be alone. I had not expected the disappearance of Maria to affect me the way it did. I felt mostly regret, wishing that I had taken what I wanted when it was still within my reach. Now, she was gone and she probably hated me too. "I came to help you." She said and I noticed that her protruding belly was now flat and had lost some of its firmness. "What happened to your pregnancy?" I asked and she smiled sinisterly. "I got rid of it. Figured it was standing in my way, Moreover, I would not want to have the baby of a cheater and a user like Dexter" she said, her tone hard and icy with no sign of remorse. "You got rid of your child?" I asked, refusing to believe this cold-hearted person in front of me. "Don't act so shocked about it. The head maid has done the same for you several times. You must have been too in

  • Veil Of Destiny   32: A new home

Maria's POV Alpha Elijah had given me my own place and gotten me a job in the clinic. I loved what I did now and hoped that I could start my life afresh here. Elizabeth didn't like me and so far, she made it very clear to me that she didn't like me. I tried to stay away from her as much as possible and even deliberately avoided Alpha Elijah."How are you enjoying the clinic?" Elvira asked me as I made my way to the canteen to have lunch. "It's going on well. I'm really grateful you took me in to work here. I don't think I would have survived anywhere else" I said thankfully and she laughed. "Look, your pregnancy is already 6 months. You need to relax more and work less now. I know you only just started work here and you are supposed to be on probation for the first three months but I am going to ease the burden of work for you. You will still be getting your full pay too" Elvira said and I felt my eyes water with tears. I remembered Maya and how she had been nice to me too before

  • Veil Of Destiny   31: A Makeup for the Breakup

Alpha Leo's POVThe drive to where I had first met her refused to leave my mind. I couldn't stop thinking about her innocent face and how she had refused to go with me. It wasn't until we got to my pack that I had to grudgingly look forward to being inside her. Going back to those moments now, I wish that I had offered more than the pain she had come to associate with me. "Sir, we are here," my driver said and I looked at my environment to see that we were packed outside Maria's previous house. Her mother had been too eager to sell her off, offering her naive daughter as a breeder for a few thousand of money. It disgusted me now and I kept wondering how I had not thought about this before. I got out of the sleek car, catching a reflection of myself in the window. I looked worn out, and even though I had not been stressing myself and made conscious efforts to rest, the weight loss and stress continued to take their toll on me. Maria's mother was in her living room with two men on e

  • Veil Of Destiny   30: Finding A New Path

Maria's POV It has been three days since I regained consciousness. So far, everyone has been very kind to me and the Alpha has not shown any signs of being a creep yet. Everything was going smoothly so far, in fact, I was healing so nicely that I could take a stroll by the end of the third day. "How are you doing today?" The alpha asked me and I beamed at him. He has been coming to check on me every day for the past three days. I had even begun to look forward to his visits. "I am doing very well Alpha. Welcome" I said and made to stand up, but he quickly waved his hands at me, motioning for me to not bother doing that. "Thank you. Elvira said you are healing nicely. I take it that you feel the same way?" he asked me, his eyes filled with genuine concern. "Yes, everything is healing nicely. I can barely feel the pain in my head. It comes and goes now" I explained to him, excited to share the details of my day with him. There was how he made me feel, he made me feel safe. It was

  • Veil Of Destiny   29: Hitting A Rock

Alpha Felix's POV I grabbed her legs, I didn't even wait to think about it before I delved for her. She had some explaining to do and there was no way I would let her get the easy way out. "You are not dying today" I muttered as I removed the rope from her neck and carried her down. She was coughing violently and I could see how red and bulky her eyes were. "Just let me die" she cried but I took her to the chair and carefully strapped her in. She had a lot to tell me and it would be better for her if she just started talking already. Her eyes were filled with shock when I secured her tightly to the chair with the same rope that she had been trying to use to kill herself. "What are you doing?" She asked me, her eyes were clear and devoid of the pitiful demeanor that she had been wearing since Maria escaped from my hands. "I am sure that you are not blind, so you can see what I am doing is tying you to a chair" I responded, my tone cold and calm, almost like I wasn't planning to to

  • Veil Of Destiny   28: Far from Settled

Alpha Felix's POV I held my head and stomped back to the palace. She had escaped. She had run, after letting that filthy boy pleasure her in the same ways that I had wanted to do. I felt foolish, revealing all my dealings with Dexter to her while she had probably gone behind me to sleep with him. The thought of it gnawed at my heart and the anger refused to stop burning my chest. I should have taken her when I had the chance, even if it had to be by force. "Any luck, Alpha?" Sophie asked me as soon as I got to the palace. She had a bowl of warm water waiting with a towel to wipe the caked blood off my face. "No. Where are all my guards?" I asked her, seeing that the hallway that led to my chambers was empty. "I sent everyone to other parts of the palace. Tonight, I am the only one that will take care of you. They would all be ba...""And what gives you the right to give orders to my guards?" I barked, shocked at her effrontery. "I...I just thought you would want to focus on heal
