Maria's POV

My blood froze just as my face did. I had not expected to be betrayed like this. I wondered if Maya knew about what was going on. Alpha Felix had known all along but kept quiet about it. Why had he gone ahead with the plan if he knew it wasn't me he was sleeping with?

I couldn't believe it. A plan I had worked so hard to think through had failed even before it started. It hurt and my ego was bruised too.

"You didn't think a flimsy blindfold would convince me to touch another woman that wasn't you?" He asked and a mischievous smile spread on his face.

"I...I... I didn't know. Why would Dexter..."

"Oh please? You think because he treats Maya the way he does that he is a good person? Have you ever wondered what he would do if he wasn't the head of the clinic?" He asked me and I stood there not knowing what next to do.

"Dexter loves her," I said, refusing to believe the words that were coming out of his mouth.

"Suit yourself. To be honest, I couldn't care less about that

Maria's POV "Can you even hear what I am saying at all?" Maya's voice cut into my thoughts and I nearly jumped. My fate here has turned for the good but finding out that Maya was merely a pawn for Alpha Felix hurt my heart. I didn't know if I should believe what Dexter was saying or warn Maya to be careful. I decided to get the exact picture of what she was going through from her. "How's your relationship with Dexter?" I asked her and she paused for a brief moment before speaking. "It's good. You know how much he loves me. Why are you asking this?" She asked me and it was my turn to hesitate before speaking. "I just want to be sure that everything was really fine. Remember that you have helped me come out of a dark place, if there is anything happening to you that you feel like I should know, I promise that I won't judge you or make you feel...""Slow down," Maya said, cutting me short with a wave of her hands, "have you been listening to the rumors?" My plans were not going so well and the mere thought of it was frustrating me. I couldn't believe that Alpha Felix had given the judgment that he did. Alpha Leo's POV I was finding it hard to believe that I was actually worried about the breeder girl. The weeks were rolling by and I was not any closer to finding her than when I started. She also had the ability to hide herself well and the only thing I could think about was her guts to run away from my pack. "A penny for your thoughts?" Sophia said from behind me and I smiled at her, pulling her close to me. She was my soulmate and the woman that I truly loved but in recent times, I have been thinking too much about Maria. "It's nothing. Just a little thought about the sock and all that is going on. I'm just thinking of ways to make life better for everyone" I responded and moved to the other side of the room, suddenly feeling crowded up with Sophia's presence. "Don't spend any time on that. We need to conduct our marriage. You have been putting it off for several months now. What could be holding you back?" She asked me and I could see the maddening glint in her eyes. It was on

  • Veil Of Destiny   1: Sold Into Shadows

Maria Leaning against the wall of the factory where I worked, I tried to catch my breath but I knew I couldn't stop even for a second. If I got caught, my wage would be deducted and I couldn't afford that. I needed every single penny I could get my hands on. The deafening roar of machines filled the air as I assembled iron parts at lightning speed. The monotonous routine left my hands calloused and my back aching, the constant fear of accidents or losing a limb haunting me every moment. I glanced at my old, wristwatch that had so many cracks, I could barely see what was written on it anymore. And it was time to head over to my other job.I wrapped up everything quickly and walked towards my boss who was sitting on a chair and counting money. He looked up at me, took out a couple of dollar bills, and tossed them on the table without a word. He was always all about his money and business. I took it and darted out of the factory. The cold air immediately hit my skin and I sighed in reli

  • Veil Of Destiny   2: A Cruel Fate

MariaIt wasn't a nightmare. I hoped and wished desperately that it was but it wasn't. I had been sold to an Alpha king in exchange for a couple of dollar bills which were undoubtedly going to get wasted on alcohol and drugs again. It was heart-wrenching that my mum would do that to me. Not only was I born into a life of hardship, deprived of love and care, but I also got sold by the person I called my mum. This was the lowest thing she could possibly do to me, downgraded to a mere object. I couldn't comprehend why she would do something like this. But it wasn't all that disappointing. I never expected much from her. It's been three months since I got dragged along to the Alpha King's castle. At first, I thought he fancied me that was why he bought me, I wondered why someone of his status, with so much power who had so many packs under him, would fancy someone like me. But after I found out he was my mate, I thought he did what he did because he wanted to be together with his mate bu

  • Veil Of Destiny   3: Mysterious Woman

Maria In the dimly lit chamber, I sat on my bed, my eyes filled with sorrow as I gazed out the window. That seemed to be the only thing I did these days, gaze out of my window all day. My heart was heavy with the weight of loneliness, and I was lost in my thoughts, unaware of the world outside my room. Suddenly, I heard the door creak open snapping me out of my trance. Zoe walked in with a tray of food in her hands. Zoe was my handmaiden. She told me she was assigned to me the first day I was brought here. However, I never spoke to her because I had way too much on my mind but she was the only one in this castle who ever took her time to speak with me.And it wasn't just because it was her job. I never had any friends but I knew a kind person when I saw one, her warm brown eyes oozed with kindness and her long black hair shone brightly. But I didn't trust her completely yet. Looks can be deceiving. She placed the tray on the table and approached me smiling warmly."My lady, I brought

MariaI didn't know how I got to my room but I closed the door and slowly lowered myself to the edge of my bed, lost in a sea of sadness and confusion. My hands found their way to my stomach cradling the small, life yet to be born within me, a silent witness to the harsh words I had heard from him. The echoes of his cruel words reverberated in my mind, each word a constant torment like daggers piercing through me. He had told me, with a cruel, ruthless, and hardened heart that he intended to give our unborn child to another woman, someone he planned to make his Luna.He only considered me as a breeder, he made mention of it so many times that the word had become imprinted in my mind. He never had any intention of treating me as his equal half which meant making me his Luna. But I was his mate. The moon goddess mated us together and he was supposed to make me his Luna not another woman. Didn't he realize that? He only treated me as an object for producing heirs. But what I was currentl

  • Veil Of Destiny   20: Another day

Maria's POV I wiped my lips furiously as I made my way out of the room. Sophie was smiling satisfactorily. I hated the fact that we were now being forced to be friends after everything that she had done to me. I didn't want to talk to her after everything we had done even though I knew she was itching to talk to me. "You know, I never thought you would be this useful to me at any point. It's a good thing that I never wrote you off" She smirked and I wondered if she didn't feel any type of way after what I had just witnessed. "I'll let you know when next I'm meeting with him. But you know, this has to stay between us" I warned her and she nodded her head. "Yes, I'm aware. Now I have to go to my duty post before the head maid notices my disappearance" she said and hurried away. Something immediately told me that she could not be trusted. I knew that already but still, I was preparing my mind for the worst betrayal. I just didn't know how. There was a slow rumble in my stomach and I

  • Veil Of Destiny   19: The experiment

Maria's POV "Come in" his gruff voice came from inside. I knew that it had not been long since he had woken up and if for anything, he was currently trying to paint the perfect sunrise of my naked body.I eased the door open, wondering if Sophie was sticking to our plan. My stomach growled, not from hunger for the first time, but from my nerves messing with my insides. I walked in slowly, looking around to make sure that I was getting any surprises. Alpha Felix was seated by his window, his brows furrowed in a knot as it seemed like he was having an artist's block. I wondered if today had not been the wrong day and struggled to focus on my plan. "Good morning Alpha" I greeted him but he merely grunted in response. I immediately set to work, cleaning his room as hard as I could. Since my mind was everywhere, the only way I could ease the burden on my shoulder was to bury my head in my work. "Argh" I yelled when suddenly I was grabbed from behind and thrown on the end. Even though I

Maria's POV The next morning, I was awake early, Maya's side of the bed was empty and I struggled to get up. It felt like the worst sleep that I have had in a while because my nerves were everywhere. Maya came back inside the room, her eyes bright with joy as she clasped a plate under her arm. She smiled at me as she put the plates down, my mouth watering immediately at the sight in front of me. I wondered why I had even tried to escape through the fence the day before. Things were beginning to look up for me and I was not going to jinx it. "Good morning Maya" I greeted her, smiling from ear to ear. It was hard to believe that I had not even known her for up to a day, yet she had taken care of me more than the family I've known my whole life. "Good morning Maria. How was your sleep?" She asked me and I smiled. "It was fine. By the time I moved in yesterday, you were already fast asleep and I didn't want to disturb you, considering that you had been stressed and slept late too" I

Olivia's POV My arms hurt miserably as I tried to lift myself to the top of the fence to my freedom. I slipped and fell back to where I started. My waist hit the floor with a heavy thud. I groaned and winged, attracting the attention of the guards. "Who is there?" One of them bellowed and I immediately picked myself up and limped as fast as I could back to the servant's quarters. Sophie was on the bed, her eyes heavy with pain and immediately she saw me, I saw the guilt in her eyes. She turned her back to me and faced the walls. I wanted to speak to her but she had betrayed me and led me to be abused by Alpha Felix. I began packing my clothes, which were my slave uniforms and some clothes that I had just been given by Dexter from the hospital. He was such a sweet and kind man and I was happy that Maya who had been kind to me in the past few hours, got enough happiness to last her for a lifetime. "What are you doing?" Sophie asked me but I didn't answer her. She got up from her b
