Chapter 5: I just want to rely on you alone

The room is comfortable, and there is soft light all around. The fireplace flickered with flames, the pleasant click of the flames emitted, bringing a hot temperature to the room, which was perfect for warming small barefoot.

Several books were arranged next to bare feet that were red from the cold, steaming hot milk tea steaming fragrant. Miren lazily leaned to one side, leaning on the small table that was placed next to her, raising a cup of tea to enjoy.

Tiny fingers reached for the fireplace and swung it around as they pleased. Miren's silver hair, as gleaming as the moonlight, stretched across the small stream, slid off her shoulder, and fell to the ground, scattering chaos. Her beautiful purple eyes were staring dreamily into the fire, her thick eyelashes fluttering softly as if they were moth wings.

A warm blanket made of fox fur is draped over the body, enveloping the beautiful body in a cocoon of softness and warmth. Her skin was originally white, but after being exposed to the cold air for an extended period, it turned red. Perhaps it was as a result of her blush that her allure was elevated by a few points. Her lazy lying posture immediately brings to mind an image of a beautiful fox lying in the den, unintentionally displaying her charm to those who see her.

A warm hand reached out and gently wrapped around the small foot. A warm, masculine voice rang out, scolding but caring at the same time.

"Can you tell me why your feet are so cold? You're so grown up and you still don't know how to take care of yourself?"

Dylan knelt beside Miren and gently placed her in his lap before sitting down in the large chair behind him. Although the warm firelight from the fireplace couldn't completely remove the chill from Dylan's body, Miren found it extremely comfortable leaning against his body.

Miren shook her head slightly, turned around, and snuggled up against Dylan, her voice is soft and sweet.

"I'm not cold; I'm just cold because you're not by my side."

When he heard her sweet and sweet words, he was completely silent. Miren also didn't mind when Dylan didn't respond to her words because she had grown accustomed to Dylan's disinterest in her words. Every time she confided in him about her feelings, he remained silent. Miren is not the type to keep her feelings hidden, and that she has never considered Dylan to be her adoptive father, means that she has always been open about her feelings for him.

Dylan didn't say anything in response to Miren's affectionate words; instead, he concentrated on her cold feet. He wrapped her legs in yet another feather blanket and then spoke up.

“Don't do that again in the future, I don't want to see your red feet at all. You also know I can't be with you all day and take care of you, you should learn to take care of yourself."

Miren shook her head, her small head sinking even further into his lap as she did so. She didn't like the way Dylan divided the distance between the two of them, because in Miren's heart, Dylan always had a very important place. She may consider him to be so important that she is willing to lay down her life for Dylan.

Dylan's waist was squeezed into Miren's lap as Miren's small arms slowly wrapped around Dylan's waist.

“No, I want you to worry and take care of me for the rest of my life. Do you have the intention of not wanting to take care of me anymore?”

Dylan gently patted Miren's head, sighing. He never had thoughts of wanting to leave her, Miren being his only exception, making it impossible for him to abandon her.

"I've never had the thought of leaving you alone, but you can't rely too much on me either."

A sulky expression was deliberately displayed on her beautiful face, and Dylan was struck by the beauty of her face as well as the tremors in her limbs.

Miren: "Why can't you rely on it."

Dylan: "You also know that life always has a lot of dangerous things, especially your life, the danger is even higher. I never want you to be in danger, but I wish even more if when you were in danger, you would turn the tide on your own, save yourself from danger without having to rely on anyone.”

Miren pouted: "I'm not afraid, I have friends to protect me. I am not afraid of anything.”

Dylan took Miren's shoulders in his arms, looked her in the eyes with seriousness, and advised: "You shouldn't put too much trust in anyone, even if that person happens to be me. Nobody on this planet is good enough for you to put your trust in for the rest of your life."

She shook her head and burst into tears as she sat up in Dylan's lap, her arms wrapped around his neck, enraged.

"I don't trust anyone, and I've stated that I only trust you."

Miren's glamorous red nightgown was revealed as the fox fur blanket fell to the ground. Dylan's entire body trembled as a pitiful sob echoed through the room, like a soft feather brushing against his heart.

When Miren cried in such a weak and beautiful way, Dylan knew that all of the fortresses he had built would crumble into the depths of the ocean. There was no way he could keep himself awake in the face of such a weak and beautiful expression on her face. In Dylan's heart, Miren is a priceless gem that he cherishes to the point that he would never dare hurt her.

A soft sigh could be heard as he patted Miren's back with his hand and spoke quietly.

"Don't cry, your beautiful eyes aren't deserving tears over something as insignificant as this. You are the person I hold in the highest regard, and I will do everything in my power to protect you. I'm not saying you shouldn't put your faith in me. I just don't want to be left in such a high position in your heart, and I'm afraid you'll be sad if I die."

Miren sobbed and cried, her sobbing still smoldering as she rested her head on his shoulder. The fact that she didn't dare to say anything more was due to her fear of appearing weak in Dylan's eyes. She was also concerned that he would perceive her as something annoying that constantly wanted to cling to him. Miren could only express her feelings through her tight hug. Dylan will never know Miren's thoughts, if one day he dies, then Miren has no meaning to exist in this world.
