AVA'S POV
Alpha Axel's eyes swept over all the slave traders, stopping on the leader of the slave traders. He twisted his neck slightly, his back straightening, but with each of his every actions, it only served to make them more nervous and scared. I couldn't fault them at all, I would have been scared myself. This Alpha had a really dangerous aura, it was extremely noticeable as soon as he stalked out of the forest to the position he was at the moment. “Alpha Axel!” one of the slave traders whispered, it wasn't so loud anyways but with the silence that pervaded the whole surrounding, everyone heard it clearly. ‘You mean you're just realizing that just now? Dimwits!’ I thought angrily in my head. All the slave traders were already retreating subtly but indeed noticeably, the protective circle around me had gotten smaller and stuffier. Even the leader of the slave traders was in a state of panic, his legs shaking almost uncontrollably. I reckoned he must have difficulty swallowing even his saliva with the way he was shivering. “Do Not Make Me Repeat My Question,” Alpha Axel said again, punctuating his every word, his gaze locked on one person, the leader of slave traders. “A-A-Alpha, she… we were chasing a runaway slave,” his voice trembling as he explained, pointing at me. “I can't believe this guy,” I thought to myself, lost in my own thoughts. “He's such a coward, trying to make it look like I ran away from them. Technically, I did run away, but not from them. That should suffice enough to prove they're lying, right?” But my thoughts were interrupted when one of the slave traders grabbed my hands that were still bound together, revealing the slave mark on my hand. “Goddess!” I seethed, my anger and humiliation boiling over. “This mark of shame and slavery! If I ever get out of this alive, I'll make them pay for this embarrassment.” But it was easier said than done. I was still trying to decide who I was angrier at more, Myself, for not seeing through Rowan's plan, Rowan, for killing me and thereby putting my into such a messy situation and even making sure I was reduced to this pathetic low life wolfless omega, or these Slavers who sealed my embarrassment with the slave mark. Alpha Axel stalked towards them slowly, with a predatory pace, his cold eyes scanning each of them as if searching for an excuse to unleash fury on them. He breached the remnants of the protective circle, his towering frame looming over me as he bent low, his hands stretching forward, sweeping my hair out of the way to see my battered face. His gaze bore into me, his eyes piercing and cold, before his lazy voice drawled out in an indifferent tone. “Is she dead?” For a second or two, silence pervaded the surroundings. Then, as if suddenly realizing that Alpha Axel was a potential buyer, the leader of the slave traders regained his previous courage, which had disappeared when Alpha Axel came out of the woods with his combat team of elite wolves. “No, not at all, Alpha,” he said. “She is young-blooded and can't die so easily. She was only a bit stubborn and feisty, so we had to discipline her a bit. You know how they are. Look!” He came closer to me, pulling some of my hair out of my face as he continued, “She is also chubby, with plenty of blood - perfect for a blood slave.” Alpha Axel hummed in response, not saying any more words. Though I couldn't open my eyes to see him, I could feel his piercing gaze on me. Then, to my dismay, he finally spoke up, his deep voice firm and commanding. “I'll buy her!” he declared, his words echoing through the clearing. My face burned with embarrassment and shame. The thought of being purchased like a piece of property by an ex-lover I had previously broken up with, was humiliating. ‘I mean, what other reduction was there that was worse than what I have been reduced to?’ I thought angrily, the anger making it almost difficult to breathe. It didn't take long to remember that, though I was still the same Ava, the Vampire Queen on the inside, I was Ava, the wolfless omega and blood slave, on the outside. As disgusting as it made me feel, I was somewhat relieved that, at least, my face wasn't recognizable; it would be worse if he knew I was his ex. Not surprising, the slave traders, on the other hand, were overjoyed beyond bounds, nodding their heads like mentally deranged patients. They hadn't expected to sell me so quickly; it was a huge gain on their side. They wouldn't have to spend any money on me, yet they would make a handsome profit from selling me to Alpha Axel. There seemed to be no down
AVA'S POVAs soon as the words fell out of Alpha Axel's mouth, the werewolves who had been stalking the slave traders immediately attacked them. They moved in a flash, the only thing my eyes could follow was their huge body and white sharp teeth. Bodies were dropping way too quickly and easily even when the slave traders tried to put up a primary resistance. Even the leader of the slave traders was brutally torn apart, his body quickly shifting into nothing but pieces in only a matter of seconds. His limbs were ripped from their sockets, torn apart piece by piece. “Ah,” I let out a sharp gasp watching the gruesome sight and then realizing it was no different from what Rowan wanted to do. This scene would be a ghastly feast for any vampire, a sight that was capable of satisfying their darkest and most depraved desires - blood. And yet, this was exactly the kind of slaughter that Rowan had been craving. “Are you alright?” Alpha Axel asked me suddenly, his eyes scanning my face. “Y
“Good question!” Alpha Axel said, his gaze narrowing slightly. “What is your name?” He asked, his deep voice was firm yet controlled as he awaited an answer. “Marcellus alpha,” The slave trader replied, his eyes roaming around as if seeking a route for escape before returning to the ground in submission. “My name is Marcellus.”“Okay, Marcellus,” Alpha Axel began, his chin raised slightly as if to exude dominance, and his voice firm and commanding. “All I need you to do is simple. I want you to return to your associates and spread the word, far and wide, that my territory is strictly off bounds for any slave trading activities whatsoever. Recount every detail of what had transpired here tonight, and make sure they understand the huge consequences of defying me, just as you've experienced firsthand.” His eyes furrowed, as he drove home the importance of the message, his voice low yet extremely full of oppression and dominance, “Make sure they know that any further trespasses will res

AVA'S POVMy consciousness slowly returned and at first I couldn't feel my body. I couldn't see anything either, it was all dark around me, yet I could feel a strong and menacing presence, it didn't seem too far off either. ‘The moon goddess didn't give me another life?’ I questioned in an aggrieved tone, but I couldn't feel anything in the state I was in, which was surprising.I felt like I was floating, but I couldn't make any sense of my surroundings. A fleeting feeling, soft as a feather, grazed my left cheek - it felt like it was there one moment and the next moment it vanquished. When I tried to speak, my lips felt extremely chapped and cracked. As in on cue, I suddenly sensed gentle touches, light and feathery at first, but as time passed became more solid. Someone was shaking me awake, urging me to rouse myself, and so I did. As my eyes slowly flickered open, the sudden brightness of the room forced me to shut them again, wincing at the intensity of the light.“Ah,” I groan
AVA'S POVI so badly wanted to ask, not like I had any hope I'd be answered but trying in itself wasn't a crime. But before I could even say a word, he shouted, facing towards the bars, “Beta Kaiden, come here right now!”‘Darn it, he looked so angry I was almost sure if the situation was any different from now, I would be lying on this ground with my guts pulled out.’But his anger didn't change the fact that he looked absolutely crazy at this point. He was literally howling Beta Kaiden's name rather than a simple mind linking.Well, he was already angry, who said I couldn't tease him right now? What was the worst that could happen? ‘Kill you maybe?’ The idea dropped in my head but I waved it aside immediately.“You don't want to know how you look right now howling his name like that,” I began teasingly, attracting a ruthless gaze and then he went back to ignoring me. “Do you think he heard you? Maybe you should just mind link him, he might have been very far and didn't hear you,” I
Chapter 12AVA'S POVBeta Kaiden desperately wanted to laugh his butt off but despite how amusing and funny he found it, he willingly complied with the Alpha's order. Covering the little distance between me and him, he gently covered my eyes, “Alpha says you can't look at him.” My face was so small that even a single palm was enough to cover my whole face.“He is such a miser,” I said, laughing teasingly but of course. I didn't want to make things hard for Beta Kaiden, not like I could anyways, but I obediently closed my eyes, wondering what was happening during the time my eyes were shut. The suspense was killing, making each second feel like triple the initial time, but I couldn't do much about it at the moment. My mind was occupied with anything and everything that had happened so far and then I remembered something. Prying open Beta Kaiden's hand, thus taking him unawares when he must have been thinking about how helpful and obedient I was, I peeked through the gaps and the fi
“What!?” I said in a frown, anger, a fleeting feeling on my features. “What do you mean by that?” “Didn't you want me to promise to fulfill three wishes, ones I know nothing about?” His eyes glistened with reserved laughter, “Well, this is the price to pay, you'll get your freedom and afterwards I'll fulfill three of your wishes as long as it's within my powers.”I squinted my eyes, huffing as I crossed my hands over my chest once again, meeting his gaze squarely, as if I was challenging him. His eyes on me were sparkling with a certain thread of amusement, almost seeming like he was enjoying the banter. "Ah, don't play dumb, little one," Alpha Axel said, taking a step closer to me, bridging the remaining gaps, his eyes never leaving mine, forcing me to look up to meet his face, and I could feel his dominance washing over me like a wave, “You should know exactly what you were getting yourself into when you made that request. You wanted me to owe you a favor, and now you're trying to
ALPHA AXEL'S POV“Why did you assign her to your room if you don't trust her?” Kaiden asked as soon as we left the training arena. “Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer,” I replied with a bored tone. The phrase was something I had learnt due to interactions with humans for so long. “Did you forget what happened with Piper so soon?” Kaiden huffed, definitely not buying my reason. Piper was the daughter of my father's Beta and we had once been so close as friends until she tried to poison me following my parents death. Kaiden bringing up this particular matter made me clench my teeth in anger. Piper's betrayal still so fresh in my head.“Alpha,”“Alpha,”The guards outside the training room curtsied as I walked past them. “Can you even listen to yourself?” Kaiden boomed, his eyes darkening furiously. “We barely know her and you are going to trust her with your personal space.”“There's something about her…” I began but trailed off midway, unsure how to explain how diffe
AVA'S POV A knock broke up our little heart to heart discussion and goddess if I wasn't grateful for the interruption. There was no way I wanted to tell Sage what had happened but I couldn't lie either. Damn the Vampire Queen oath, I was bound not to tell lies. “You can go back to bed, you're pregnant, I'll check who's there,” I assured her, urging her to go back to bed. She obliged after a few seconds but I could see her hesitation. When I was sure I no longer appeared to have bawled my eyes to sleep, I pulled the door open and I was met with the face of one of the maids who was assigned to my room previously. ‘Thank goodness it wasn't the same maid,’ I muttered to myself. “You aren't dressed?” she asked, an alarmed look on her face as she forced her way in, looking me all over. “Dressed for what e
“What happened here?” I heard beta Kaiden ask but Alpha Axel kept mute and instead helped him up, leading him away without as much as a stare. Beta Kaiden's eyes met mine, confusion gracing his face, but I immediately turned my face away, staring at the earth beneath as they walked away. I stayed there for a while, watching them till they were out of sight and then the tears that had long threatened to fall, came running down along my cheeks. I whimpered softly so as not to alert anyone. My hands finding its way to my cheeks as I cleaned it slowly. “Ava?” I heard a soft voice behind me all of a sudden, making me jump in fright. It wasn't any I was familiar with. “Ma'am, it's just me,” the voice came again, granting me a good sight of the owner of the voice. That was a pretty familiar face. One of the maids who had helped arrange my room.
“Give me an answer to something I'm very inquisitive about, why do you, for some very crazy reason, always get involved with trouble?” Alpha Axel asked; staring down at me from where he stood. It felt kinda weird, awkward as well so I slowly stood up, confused on what to do.“I asked a question!” Alpha Axel suddenly raised his voice, causing me to jump in surprise at his tone.“I came out for a walk,” I began, meeting his icy gaze with a gaze of the same intensity. “Then he attacked me. How does that count as me having a tendency of always getting into trouble?”He stared at me for a long period of time or so I thought and I met his gaze for a long ti
AVA'S POV“Just how many broken people were in this pack? I should leave him alone with his problem, I mean, even I have mine to solve.” I muttered, just wanting to leave quickly and quietly without disturbing him. But his next words made me stop dead in my tracks.“Sage...” he called out again. Lifting his head, his eyes suddenly snapped in my direction. It was Kaiden. But there was something about him that was too scary. His beautiful brown eyes were gone, it was replaced with a blood red color, fully highlighted under the full moon.He dangerously stalked towards me and I'd be damned if I wasn't scared. I stepped back slowly, wanting to keep as much gap between us as possible.Suddenly, I couldn't see him again, the fear making me shiver furiously as I looked around, still retreating slowly until suddenly I hit a wall. A wall of flesh! I slowly turned, dreading what I would see. And that's when I saw him.Beta Kaiden's face was just inches from mine, his blood-red eyes blazing w
AVA'S POVThe pain, sorrow and regrets in her eyes were evident, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of empathy towards her. Despite the situation, I found myself wanting to comfort her, to tell her that everything would be okay. But deep down, I knew that the wounds ran too deep, and forgiveness would not come easily.I didn't know what to say or do, so I sat there, just staring and hoping that my presence was enough to speak volumes. “You're the first who hasn't ever run from me. Are you new to the pack?” Sage asked, after a while, when she was calmer. “Technically, I've been in the pack for the past forty days - in a coma.” I said rather playfully, but the look she gave me was one filled with pity. “How long have you been in this place, secluded from everyone else in the pack?” I asked, my curiosity piqued. “Almost three months now,” Sage said, a smile dazzling up her face. “I'm guessing no one dared to visit you here?” I asked again, even though I was sure of the answer. “E
AVA'S POV“I'm sorry, what?” I asked, shifting forward, as I stared at her, wondering if I heard right. “I know, I know. It's not very believable because of the situation I find myself in right now,” She said, sobbing once again. “What happened then? I mean, isn't your mate supposed to be totally crazy about you? I mean...” I trailed off, realizing how immature of me it would be if I stated the obvious, despite knowing that she was not in the right frame of mind.“Oh come on, go on. You wanted to say something, say it. I'm listening,” She said, gently taking my hands as she urged me. “I-I mean, he totally treats you like you don't exist. Why will he do such a thing to you? He's your mate!” I exclaimed as if trying to prove something to her, my gaze narrowing as I stared intently at her. “I was his mate,” She said, placing my hands gently on my laps, as she pulled back to relax on the bed rest. “He rejected me after what I did, but I swear on this child I'm carrying, it was a mist
AVA'S POVThe maids stared at me in confusion for a while, but I ignored them like I didn't know what I just said. They must have made a silent agreement within themselves as they decided to follow the direction of my hand rather than my mouth. The maids arranged the left half of the room. They were almost done though, when one of the maids opened the wardrobe and started pulling out the clothes one by one, as if they were rags. “Stop it!” I called out, prompting all the maids to stop what they were doing, as they stared at me, waiting for the next instruction, “Who instructed you to clean that part of the room?” The maids exchanged glances amongst each other, their expression of confusion as they stared back at me. “I clearly stated, clear the right half of the room, so what are you doing clearing the left?”The maid who had spoken before wanted to say something, but she didn't follow through on it. They went to work on the other half and soon the room was absolutely tidied except
Beta Kaiden's eyes snapped up to meet mine, a hint of guilt flashing across his face. “Ah, the dagger. I don't know... ” He said, trying to keep his eyes on my face. “Where is the dagger?” I asked, turning to grab the gown I had pulled off a while ago. It was a loose fitting blush coloured short gown, it had been made with lightweight materials that gave the feeling of comfort and beauty to the wearer. As if enchanted, as soon as I pulled down the gown over my body, he snapped back to his senses. “You were saying?” He asked again, his eyes blinking repeatedly.“Where is the dagger?” I asked again, covering the distance between us, to look up at him. Just like Alpha Axel, Beta Kaiden was just about the same height.“The dagger is a trail, we need it to find out who needed the Alpha dead by all means possible.” Beta Kaiden said, thinking about something. He made to say something but he plopped his mouth shut again. “Okay, this is where you'll be staying while you serve your confinemen
