2. Vampire Assault

A few days had passed since Frey forbade me to come. The windows of her room were always tightly closed. She didn't want to see me. What happened? Why is Frey suddenly acting like this? This makes me think Frey hates me.

Tonight the moon also looks very beautiful. It reminded me of my first encounter with Frey. The sky looks beautiful with blue and purple filled with a sprinkling of stars. A gust of wind made me feel carried away by it. Frey's smile that I like so much. I want to see it again.

My footsteps felt very slow as I descended the slope. I didn't feel like going home before I met Frey. Frey's sad face appeared in my memory. In my daydream, I heard a noise from the direction of the forest. The sound of someone screaming.

It wasn't long before someone screamed. I immediately ran towards the source of the sound. As soon as I reached the place where the screams came from, I saw a woman running towards me. The woman fell and tried to ask me for help.

"Are you okay?" I said while helping the woman.

“Monsters!” shouted the woman, pointing behind her.

I saw a woman sitting with her back in the direction of the light. Her long hair in the wind shimmered in the moonlight. The figure that makes me want to reach her. Slowly she turned her head back. Tears flowed from her beautiful face. Her mouth was covered in fresh blood.

"Frey?"

“Leo…,” called Frey in a very sad voice. She gaped as she looked at her hand slowly. Frey stood up and walked away from us. I tried to catch up to Frey who was trying to escape from that place. But the girl who was with me grabbed my arm. His face looked very frightened. I didn't feel like leaving him behind.

I took the girl to the town area. The woman looked very pale. I double-checked that she wasn't attacked by Frey considering that Frey looked covered in blood before. When the woman said she hadn't attacked her, I felt very relieved.

"Can you go home alone?" I asked her. The woman immediately shook her head. She grabbed the edge of my shirt and said, "Sorry."

"No, it's okay. I'll take you where you want."

The woman said that she lived not far from where they were. Even so, with her body slightly unwell, we arrived at her house in over fifteen minutes.

“Thank you for seeing me home.”

"Yes, then I'll excuse myself."

After confirming that the girl returned safely, I went back to the Frey residence. With hurried steps, I walked while hoping Frey was okay.

On the slope leading to the residence of Frey's house, several fully clothed people gathered and wandered around. I have a bad feeling about this. I walked away pretending I didn't see them. However, they noticed my presence and approached me.

"Excuse me, can I have a moment of your time?" I just kept quiet and nodded slowly. “We are under investigation around this area. May we ask your business in this place?”

"Sorry, I'm just out walking at night," I replied with a little laugh. They looked at me with slightly worried faces. "If there's no business, we advise you to leave this place because it's a little dangerous," they advised me.

"Danger?" I asked them.

“As reported, there has been an attack by vampires in this town. We are from a special team sent to investigate this case further,” the man replied.

"Vampires?" I said as if I didn't know what they meant. The man did not answer my question but advised me to go home immediately.

"Hey, let's go!" another man shouted from afar.

"Then we'll excuse ourselves. Please return to a safe place,” added the man.

While they were busy with their activities, I went away. I took my usual path to enter Frey's place. Frey's bedroom window was closed. I looked into the house through the first-floor window. No signs whatsoever. Usually, I see a few maids doing their job in the house.

Not knowing what to do, I walked towards the back of the house. Frey once told me how to enter this house. Near a tree behind the house, there is a rose garden. Among the flowers, there is a house key that is used for emergencies.

I entered the house using the key I got. When entering the house, the situation looks very quiet. The room looks dark. I called out Frey's name over and over in a slightly low voice. My feet stepped looking for stairs to reach the third floor of this house. From the outside appearance of the house, I estimated Frey's room and walked towards it.

The easternmost room on the third floor. I knocked on the door several times before trying to enter. The room was so dark I couldn't see anything in it.

I moved to find the light switch on the wall of the room. It was then that the sound of someone's breathing was heard. I looked carefully at the room. It looks very bright red. I ran to those eyes and saw Frey sitting behind the bed.

"Leo?"

My eyes began to adapt to the darkness of the room. Gradually I could see Frey's face. Her tears flowed down her cheeks. My hand gently wiped the tears away. Frey just cried silently. We sat holding hands in the dark room. Even though I wanted to ask a lot of questions, my mouth remained silent. Without asking, I could tell Frey was no ordinary human. "Frey, can I ask you one thing?"

Frey was silent. However, her hand gripped mine tightly. “Did the attack that took place in the city happen because of you?”

“No, it wasn't me,” Frey replied in a very low voice.

Frey said he didn't make the attack. However, I saw her almost attack the woman before. There was even blood around Frey's mouth when I saw this. But I want to trust Frey.

A few moments later, a loud voice came from outside. I let go of Frey's hand and walked out. I sneaked a look out the window in the hallway. Seen people gathered outside earlier broke into the house. I ran back to where Frey was.

"Frey! Come with me!” I shouted.

"Leo? What happened?" said Frey in a confused tone.

“Looks like they came here to catch you. Let's get out of here," I replied.

I explained about the people who said they were looking for vampires around this place. "Let's leave this place!" Frey seemed reluctant to come with me. I moved closer to Frey and looked into her eyes. "I don't want them to catch you when you're not doing anything," Leo said reassuring Frey to get out of there.
