Chapter Seventy-Five

She stood in front of her window and watched as Holly drove away, her car loaded to the brim with her possessions. A knot twisted in the pit of her stomach as she stared after the car as it pulled out of the apartment complex’s parking lot, worried that somehow, her life had just changed and she had no idea in what way.

Holly turned left and then disappeared around the corner, vanishing from sight. Gone. Valerie hadn’t wanted it to happen, but then again, she had done nothing to stop it, either. It was her fault.
