073 Inner Turmoil

I was shocked at the multitude that arrived to support Mason. They were well over five hundred warriors, and I felt shame for Marcus. If only he was kind and understanding, this would have been his at no cost. I thanked Mason.

Mason tried to convince me not to come, and the warriors tried to convince me of the same. They could all smell I was pregnant, but I refused, and they dropped the issue. They addressed me with so much respect, and I wondered why they were not willing to respect Marcus, after all, I was Marcu's Luna. I kept it to myself, so I do not spoil their resolve to help.

We left in a convoy, and I sat with Mason at the back seat of the car. My hand was permanently on my flat belly, and I prayed for the goddess to protect us.

Mason placed his hands on my lap to calm me down. It did the opposite, but I faked a smile.

"I promise you won't regret this," he assured me, and I nodded. There was no need to argue with him. He had kept his word. I would have no choice b
