Pleased with myself, I rested and waited for forty-five minutes. Once the time was up, and the people I sent ahead had sent me a message stating they had settled in nicely, I got into my Jeep and headed towards the nameless diner. While driving, Kara called me many times. I guessed Derin did not find her messages funny. That was the issue with social climbers, they were never content with their life. Kara did not love me, she just wanted to be associated with me. If Marcus was approachable she would have gone for him instead. She was jealous of Gwen, and she did not bother to hide it, which was disturbing. I put my phone on silence eventually, because I needed some peace and quiet.

I arrived at the diner. I looked around and saw where all the warriors I sent were seated at different tables, minding their business. They were behaving like regular customers, nothing suspicious. Then I smelled Lucius. He was sitting at a booth in the corner, wearing a face cap and a jeans jacket
