Gwyneth

I sat alone in my room, thinking of what to do. I couldn't believe it had come to this. The bloodshed was still fresh in my memory, and I was yet to get over the death of my friends. My father wasn't coping well. Our Alpha, Beta, and Gamma had been killed, and their families wiped out in the attack. The only reason we were spared was that my father had surrendered. Our pack was still mourning, and I doubted if we would ever get over what had happened. I was only nineteen years old.

My father came to check on me in my bedroom. I knew he had something important to tell me, but he was contemplating how.

"Gwen, how have you been holding up?" He asked while he sat on the couch in my room.

"All my friends are gone, daddy. I do not have friends anymore. I might never find my mate. This is a nightmare." I cried, and he came to sit next to me at the foot of my bed and held me. I cried my heart out, remembering the horrible event that had happened.

"I know it is hard, and I cannot promise you it will get any easier, my child." He said, and I continued to cry.

My father sighed, and I could feel his fatigue. He was tired. He was willing to die but had to surrender because of me. I didn't know if I should be grateful to him for his decision or hate him for it. Many of the pack members were grateful to him. His decision to surrender had made the Eclipse pack spare all our lives. They were already taking over everything. I learned the Alpha was an asshole, and he was very controlling and never smiled. He had a lot of money and owned several territories. Our territory was just an addition to his vast collection. I doubted if he would find us special enough to spare us slave treatment.

"I hate to be the one to tell you this." My father began, and I was attentive because I knew that whatever he had to say would not be pleasing to my ears.

"For Alpha Marcus to absorb us completely, I have to marry you off to him to prove our loyalty and surrender is genuine." He said, and the shock of his words made me pull away abruptly and stand up.

"What!" I asked my father, trying hard to process his words. What the hell was my father talking about? I was only nineteen. I was a virgin, and I hadn't met my mate. I hadn't lived or enjoyed a life long enough for my life to be given away like that. I began to panic and started heaving.

"You need to calm down, Gwen. It is completely beyond my power. He was the one that requested for you. I know he only did it to test my loyalty. If I had refused, it would simply mean we hadn't surrendered to him." He tried to explain, but I shook my head.

"No, daddy. My life cannot be used to buy peace." I argued.

"What do you propose? That I say no, and he slaughters all of us because he can do that," he said, and I continued to shake my head.

"That man has no feelings for me. Neither do I have feelings for him. I am only nineteen father. Alpha Marcus is twenty-nine years old. He has been mated. He has loved, and he has lived. This is unfair to me. " I said, but I knew my father wouldn't listen, so I did the only thing that I knew how. I ran.

I bolted out the door and out of the house and ran. I did not want to shift because that would mean I would arrive at my targeted destination naked, so I remained in my human form.

I wasn't thinking. I needed to get to the Alpha's residence, and I needed to irritate him and make him refuse the union. I needed him to see me as unworthy. I ran.

I had never seen Alpha Marcus before, but I believed I would recognise him in a crowd. I heard his looks were quite intimidating. I ran until I arrived at our former Alpha's residence which was now part of Alpha Marcus's collection. I was out of breath, and I was panting heavily, but I wasn't going to stop.

When I got to the place, I noticed that the front of the building was guarded by dangerous-looking men. None of them was a member of our pack. This was it for me. I Had come this far. I could not turn back now, so I advanced to the house. The moment I came close, the men were alert. They could smell me. I moved out of the woods to the open, and I was arrested immediately.

"I demand to see Alpha!" I yelled as they pinned me to the ground and bound me with silver. The chain burned, but I refused to give them the satisfaction of crying.

"I want to see Alpha!" I yelled again, and I heard some of them laugh at me.

They took me to the waiting room, and someone approached me. He was a hefty-looking man with brown hair. His green eyes looked very dangerous and imposing. I stared at him, never averting my gaze.

"What do you want with Alpha Marcus?" the man asked.

"I need to speak to him," I said, maintaining my confidence even though my wolf had started to feel we had made a terrible move by coming there in the first place. Well, there was no turning back for me anymore. My wolf and I would have to deal.

"Do you have an appointment," he asked me, and I shook my head.

"Very well then, book an appointment," he said and turned around.

"I am sorry I can't do that since my father plans to marry me off to him," I said, and the man raised an eyebrow and studied me with his eyes. I knew he was trying to see if I was lying, but when he saw that I wasn't lying, he paused.

"You are Mackenzie's daughter?" He asked.

"Delta Mackenzie." I corrected him.

"Not anymore," he responded, and I was angrier. They had taken everything away from us and my father's title and respect too. So why would he want to marry me?

I was about to ask a very stupid question when I heard a deep imposing voice coming from the Alpha's Office. If I wasn't in such a foul mood, I would have commended the voice. It was extremely masculine and daring.

"Follow me." the brown-haired man said, and I arched my eyebrow at him. When he couldn't figure out why, I shook my bound hands. He took off the chains. Although my hands were free, my wrists were burnt, and I knew it would take a day or two for them to heal completely. The bastard had used a glove to take them off. He wasn't even man enough to touch them with his bare hands.

I entered the office, and there he was. His face matched his voice. Handsome and imposing. I had never seen any man as masculine and as handsome as this man. His dark hair and eyes were perfect. His face looked so dangerous. It looked as if he never smiled, and I felt my heart skip a beat. This man would have easily been a woman's object of fantasy, but unfortunately, he was sitting on the wrong side of the fence, and I wasn't ready to melt away in the presence of an enemy.

"What do you want? I do not have all day," he said in the meanest manner ever, and I stood with my chest up to show I wasn't afraid of him.

"I do not want to marry you. Please ask for something else." I said, going straight to the point, and he stared at me for a while.

"Or else what?" he asked me, and his question took me by surprise. I hadn't come there to threaten him, but he had taken my words as a threat. I stood there speechless and feeling off. I honestly could not answer his question.

"Nothing." I finally said, being honest to both of us.

"Stupid girl, we shouldn't have come here." my wolf said in my head, but I chose to ignore her.

"A man like you should not involve himself with someone like me," I said, and he raised an eyebrow in the meanest way ever.

"What do you mean by that?" He asked, and I knew I had to be careful with my words where this man was concerned.

"I am nobody. I am sure there are very attractive women in your pack. You do not need to saddle yourself with a nineteen-year-old nobody. Please, be rest assured that you have the full loyalty of the pack. You do not need me to make them comply." I tried to explain to him, and he shook his head.

"The pack isn't the issue. I need to be sure your father would behave himself." He told me, and I wondered why he was very particular about my father's loyalty.

"Your father is the Alpha's brother, and that makes him an Alpha too. I only let him live because he surrendered, and I have no qualms with him, but I do not intend to keep someone like him around without control. And you are right. You are not good enough for me and never will be. You will only be a form of insurance. I do not fancy women like you, and someone like you cannot handle my desires. The wedding will take place for the very reason I have told you, and if you run away, I will eliminate your father and the pack. I do not need them. Now leave my office. " He said to me, and I felt humiliated, but I didn't let it show.

"You are not my type either. I only came here so I could spare myself the torture of being married to an old man." I said, and I was about to turn around and walk away when the brown-haired douchebag held me back

"You've done it this time, Gwen." my wolf said, panicking and gearing up for a fight.

"I believe you have never heard of me before." Alpha Marcus said with a straight face. " I will not tolerate disrespect. The next time you speak to me in such a manner, you will be dealt with mercilessly. Now leave my office." He said coldly and calmy. I walked out of the office and left the building. The moment I was in the forest, I shifted and began to run.

Gwyneth I arrived home late in the night, naked. I crept into my room and curled in the corner. My tears had fallen so freely that my eyes were swollen. With the way Alpha Marcus spoke, I figured my father had no choice. I couldn't believe the man could be that cruel to deliberately want to waste my life away. What was I going to be doing as his wife? What kind of Luna would I be? How would the pack respect me when he did not seem like he intended to give me any respect? I knew running away would be selfish, so I sat there and cried. My life was over before it started. I walked to my vanity table and took out my book of dreams, and began to flip through it. I had hoped to be so many things. An unwanted wife, and luna wasn't one of them. I wanted to become a doctor. I also wanted to be able to fight and protect my pack. I had trained for it. I would have been the first female Delta in my pack before Alpha Marcus came and ruined everything. I saw where I had described how I wanted my ma

Gwyneth A man barged into my room early in the morning the next day. I was yet to see Alpha Marcus. He had not come to consummate the wedding, and I was secretly glad. I was still in my underwear, so I wrapped myself with the sheets. The man did not seem to bother that he had barged into my room. "I need you to sign these papers," he said, handing me some documents, and I wondered what they were. "What for?" I asked. My eyes were swollen, and my vision wasn't clear. "Your wedding certificate and your agreement." the man replied, and I collected it from him. "Okay, let me read the agreement," I said, and he shook his head. "No time. The lawyer needs to take them back, and you and Alpha will be returning to his house in thirty minutes," the man said, and I was confused. "Am I not going to live here?" I asked him, and he shook his head. I knew he wouldn't give me any reasonable answer, so I signed the documents and handed them back to him. I had no luggage, so I did not have clothe

Gwyneth I went on a run after breakfast. I went into the forest and shifted into Leah. I was a white wolf which was a rare colour, but I loved the colour of our fur. Pack members always commended it, and I was proud of it. Too bad I won't be showing off my beautiful wolf in this pack. I noticed the members ignored me and stayed away. It was obvious my darling husband had instructed them to avoid me. My twentieth birthday was coming up, and I wasn't looking forward to celebrating it. My life was already over. There was no point wasting my time celebrating the life that I no longer had. I did not return to the house until late in the night. It wasn't long after I exited the shower when Alpha Marcus came into my room, boiling with anger. "Where did you go?" he yelled, and I was a bit confused. "I went on a run," I answered confidently. "You want me to believe you went on a run," he said, and I nodded. "What else did you think I was doing? I am new to these parts, so I decided to loo

Gwyneth I woke up feeling a bit sore. I was not in my room. Instead, I was lying on a big luxurious king-size bed. The room was big and exquisite. I wondered where I was. I gently sat up and looked around the room. I saw Alpha Marcus sitting on a chair, his elbows resting on his lap and his chin on his palm, staring at me. There was no emotion in my eyes. "Where am I?" I asked angrily, and he sat up. "You defied me, wolf," he began, but I couldn't care less. He could go to hell for all I care. I was already living in my hell. "You were to remain indoors, and yet you ran out and tried to get yourself killed," he said to me, and I was angry. "I didn't try to kill myself. Don't flatter yourself. I went for a swim, then I decided to stroll, and this rogue came at me from nowhere. I am lucky to be alive. You should have warned me that you had a rogue problem." I shot at him, and his expression changed from straight to anger. "You are badly behaved and uncultured," he said, and I smiled

Gwyneth There was a knock on my door the next morning, and I hurried to see who it was. I opened the door to find the brown-haired guy staring at me. I believed he was Alpha Marcus' beta, but I couldn't care less. "What do you want?" I asked him, sounding short and uninterested. "Good morning Gwyneth; I am Beta Micheal." He said, introducing himself. I knew who he was, I just did not see him as my beta. "What do you want?" I asked him, and he smiled at me. There was a glint in his eyes that made me believe that whatever he had to tell me wasn't good. "Alpha asked me to train you," he said, and I frowned at him. Why would Alpha ask him to train me? I was already a trained warrior; I could take care of myself. I did not need Micheal training me. "For what?" I asked. "Get ready. Training starts now. Meet me in the training room." He said and turned away. He must have me twisted to think he could just come here and order me. "Tell your Alpha to come to get me himself!" I told him

Gwyneth Leah took over completely, and I shifted. I heard most of them gasp at the sight of my wolf. I was also an Alpha breed but not an Alpha. They landed their blows on both sides and tore my skin. This was unfair. I pushed the brown wolf on my right and tore at the black wolf on my left. I knew I drew blood. They came at me. The brown wolf bit into my side, and I whimpered, but I didn't go down. I bit the leg of the black wolf and dislocated it. I intended to pull it out, but he was able to escape the permanent damage I would have cost him. The fight lasted, and we were All bloody. My fur was matted with my blood, but I didn't care. Alpha Marcus had hurt me with this move, and I wouldn't forgive him for it. I leapt at the black wolf and hit the head with all my might, and it fell; the wolf shifted back to its human form and began to seize. Immediately Alpha Marcus stopped the fight. Leah backed away, but we kept growing and baring our teeth angrily. Alpha Marcus's words kept pla

Great, he was one of the people I didn't want to see. I waited for him to catch up to me. "Where are you going?" he asked me. "To the woods," I replied, and he looked at me funny. "I like it there," I told him, and he nodded. "Did you go to the clinic to get yourself checked?" he asked, and I shook my head. "No need, I heal fast," I replied, and he nodded. "By the way, your wolf is beautiful," he complimented, and I was surprised he was being nice to me. I needed to be careful. It might be a trap. Gwen. We were amazed when we arrived at the airport in Gardenia. It was a beautiful view. There were video commercials and posters that had wolves on. It was as it was described; a werewolf country, or so it seemed. The people were friendly at the airport. The arrival had many free souvenirs for visitors. I felt my babies kick, and I knew this was it. The triplets were so excited it was challenging to hold on to them. Marcus and Mason were doing everything they could to stop them from running about the place. Linbec put us in a situation where we had to hide away, demarcated from the rest of the world, but this place was different. It celebrated us. I saw a video of the president welcoming visitors, and I wondered if they created a welcome video every time they had a new president or if this guy was just different. When we stepped out, Marcus wanted to look for two cabs when a government-licensed S.U.V parked in front of us. A friendly-looking guy in a suit exited the S.U.V and ca

Gwen. It did not take long for the suspects to be arraigned in court. Larry took a plea bargain and had a significantly reduced sentence. Benjamin took his own life. I knew it was because he could not deal with the shame of what he did. Honestly, I was glad he was dead. Being a former president, I doubted if his punishment would be much, and it would have been wrong to let him get away with all the heinous crimes he committed. Michael and Ingrid were trying to resolve their differences, but he had difficulty trusting her. I pleaded with him to give her a second chance because we knew she stood no chance against Larry and Benjamin. He was still angry over the fact that she did not open up to him. Michael was content with being friends and kept it that way for now. Hopefully, they would resolve their differences in the future, and he would forgive her. I knew they still loved each other very much. Hopefully, they will see it too and put the past behind them. The wedding was going to t

It was easy to believe because it was a union that would have mutual benefits. I sat in the car and couldn't wait to get home to Gwen and the triplets. Retirement was still in the plan even though the peace seemed as if it would be stable. I could not wait to see Gwen and the triplets and celebrate the joy with them. "Can you believe what is about to happen?" I asked Marcus, and he smiled at me, nodding. "Gwen will be most thrilled about it." He replied, and that was when I summoned the courage to ask what I wanted. "Marcus," I said, and he looked at me eagerly. Marcus. We got ready for the meeting with Barnes. As much as Gwen wanted to come with us, I did not allow it. She needed to rest. It was tough convincing her to remain, but she eventually agreed. Michael came around to keep her company, so It was easier for us. I had placed Michael as Beta, and everyone had reverted to their old ranks. Scott was the most pleased. I could see his relief. I did not know the work I delegated to him was that much until I saw his relief. Gwen and Michael had a lot of catching up to do, and I was hopeful that she would not even notice our absence. Michael refused to get back together with Ingrid, and I wanted to talk to him about it. I knew he was still mad at her but judging the situation, I believed it was best he forgave for the sake of his peace. Our children would be out of the bunker by the time we returned, and I was eager to see them hold them and play with them. It had been tough being without them. I was glad that everything seemed to be over.

Marcus. I could not believe what had just happened to us. A solution and a problem. The mindless wolves they showed would be the first image humans of Linbec will have about us. There was no sensible way to manage this situation. If we are ever discovered, how will we prove to them that we is nothing like what they had seen on their screens? The human pop culture about us did not help matters either. We were fucked. Gardenia started looking more promising than it was yesterday. "What do we do now?" Mason asked. I could see the frustration in his eyes. "Breathe, and let it all play out," Gwen said, and I looked at her because she was panicking just now. "The government likes to control its citizens. Knowledge is power, and the government would not allow the citizens to have that kind of power. They will find a way to throw it off." She said, and I frowned at her. Gwen. It was amazing how simple the solution was. We had overthought many things, and that had somehow blown the issue out of proportion. If Barnes was right and could be trusted, it simply meant that everything would be alright. I intended to discuss retirement with Marcus and Mason. I know how much they liked running things, but we needed to focus on our family. I was tired of putting myself in harm's way for the sake of ingrates. We had lives too, and our lives were important. Our children needed us. As much as I would love to remain in charge, I just wanted to run my home and start a floral business. I had enough of the war. I wanted love and peace. After our discussion with Barnes, Marcus decided we should go to our second home, it had been a while, but that place held memories. Memories of my cripple days. It was there that I began to look within and appreciate what I really had. Being Luna did not matter anymore to me in that house. My children were with me, and I had concei

"Let me carry you, Gwen," I said, and she wrapped her arms around my neck to oblige me. She rested her head against my chest and tried to drift back into sleep. Our mission must have really drained her, and her body was currently trying to adjust. While I carried Gwen towards the packhouse, I thought of the possibility that we might not fight a war, and I was thankful. If Barnes comes through for us, we can fix the problem, retire in peace and build our family. Marcus was right not to want war. We had too much to lose. Carrying Gwen in my arms made me realise just how much we had to lose. I was sure that she would not back down if it came to war, and I could not bear to lose her. She might be immune to si

Marcus. It was amazing to see how quickly Larry cracked after seeing the press release. It also showed the shallow nature of human friendship. Larry was loyal, and Benjamin wasn't. Larry's love for Mia also was troubling especially knowing how they viewed our kind and what they intended to use us for. It is heartbreaking. "Why should we trust you?" I asked Larry, but his crimson eyes had said it all. He was hurt, broken and felt betrayed. "This was not my plan," He said, "Benjamin had made some bad decisions that had affected our currency and economic stability. Many bad decisions that they would ask for his head if the people knew. Of course, Barnes wasn't in the know, and we kept it that way. Eventually, it was going to be exposed." He said, and I got curious. I wasn't patient with vague explanations.
