The flight to Los Angeles was okay. She had strided out from the airport after the checking and was sitting on the bench cross-legged for the past few hours feeling contaminated from the emotions overflowing within her.
Her trail of thoughts broke when she saw an old man in a suit approaching her with a banner in his hand. “Madam Seraphina?” He questioned. She nodded at him blankly. “Sorry for the late behavior, I had just received the orders half an hour before so I immediately raced here.”
“Its okay.” She replied, absentmindedly. He brought his hands towards her bag but she instantly shook her head in a no. Nodding, they both went to the luxurious car that awaited for them.
Getting in, she plugged the earphones back in her ears, to avoid any unnecessary interaction. Silence lingered around them as they drove back to the state they lived in.
The old man -- Gary Willows tried to interact but she wasn't just in the mood.
Her eyes took in the mesmerizing scenery. She had last seen America twelve years ago, her mother had brought her too London after they left. She had definitely missed the scent of this air. They heavy traffic is what made America more worth it.
An hour later, they approached the huge metal gates. The scanner, scanned the old mans face and slowly the gate opened. “We’ve arrived.” He said as he halted infront the front door. Seraphina looked around, the fountain that was in the middle of the driveway was same as before.
She got out with utter emptiness. Grabbing her bag, she followed Gary inside. The mansion was pretty much the same, only the difference was that the main entrance wall was littered with pictures. The pictures without her and Renie.
Shaking her head, she took another step. The cream colored walls were adorned with fancy golden crystals. A huge chandelier hung from the roof in between the two edged stairs, which led to the second and third floor. “Common miss, your family is waiting for you in the living room.” He said, breaking her trance.
She gazed at him and nodded. Walking, she heard loud voices from the living room. Her body suddenly felt sweaty. Fisting her palm, she trailed behind Gary who went inside.
Blowing a deep breath out, she strolled inside with her eyes on the floor.
The voices instantly went quiet. Looking up, she saw them.
Her biological family.
Scowls present on some faces whilst some were emotionless. And happy?
Her eyes travelled to the man wearing a black Armani suit, seated on a single sofa with his one leg draped over the other. His hair styled perfectly on his handsome face. The piercing blank sapphire eyes drilled holes within her own.
The same color yet a different chilling emotion.
She instantly knew who he was.
“Why the fuck does she have to be here?” Someone said with anger lurking in his voice. She broke off the eye contact to look at the intruder. “Yeah, better if you had given her up for adoption.” A soft girly voice said from beside the intruder.
“Sienna’s right, just give her away, Agostino.” The intruder huffed once again and leaned back on the sofa.
Ignoring them, Seraphina looked back at the intimidating man who was starring right in her soul.
“Good evening Seraphina, I’m your oldest brother Agostino and your legal guardian.” His deep rough voice resonated in the room, filling the atmosphere with coldness.
The once happy man was just dark and blank.
She nodded, her voice betraying her. “Introduce yourself.” He commanded, leaving no room for arguments.
Internally scoffing, she knew who was who but still she went along with it.
“Your second oldest brother. Alfonso, 28.” He smiled at her with love lingering behind his eyes. Mother hen, definitely. She hesitantly gave him one back but all it came out as a grimace.
“Enrico, 26. Don't even come near me.” He snarled at her too which she ignored. “Fourth oldest. Fulvio, 23.” He blankly stated, gazing back at the book he was reading.
The next one was looking at her with immense hatred which brought a jolt of pang in her heart.
“Sav.” Agostino warned him with a straight face. Huffing, he crossed his arms over his chest. “Why do I have to introduce myself to this bitch?” He hissed. “Just do it.” Alfonso calmly spoke, not wanting another drama to unfold.
“No.” He stated as he glared at her.
“No need. I already know who you are, Savio.” Seraphina mocked him back with the same intense glare, shocking him in return.
“You knew?” Alfonso asked with a hint of hope and happiness. She nodded. Pointing at the human beside Fulvio, she muttered, “Raffaello.”
Moving her index she continued, “Rosario, the twins, 18.” Her eyes moved to the girl who sat with Savio. Her fingers entangled with his.
“Sienna, my long lost twin.”
Her drifted back to Agostino who still stared at her with nothing but emptiness. “You’ll be shown your room, unpack and someone will call you down for dinner, afterwards I expect you in my office.” He said, nonchalantly.
Nodding again, she turned around, marching towards the maid who stood there in silence. “Let’s go, Madam.”
Gazing out from the window, she blew out a breath. Her heart begging to go hug them, specially him. She wanted to hear the nickname he always called her. The special one.She was always called the ‘Little Agostinio’ by her family.Sienna and Seraphina weren't identical but Seraphina was always mistaken as Agostino's younger twin. The similarities were immense. Her room was still the same. White colored with a queen sized bed attached to the wall. A walk in-closet and an attached bathroom. Beside the window, was a study table and just a few meters away was a vanity mirror with a several lotions and perfumes placed on it. A big sized television embedded in the wall, opposite to the bed.Only the thing missing was the plushies she kept on her bed when she was younger. Her thoughts lingering back to the days when they were a happy family but it all vanished in thin air.Knocking, the maid walked inside with a small smile on her face. “Madam, you are called for dinner.” Breaking away her g
SeraphinaAlfonso led me to the third floor where Agostino had his office. The place was nearly deserted.Knocking, he stepped inside followed by myself. “Sit, he’ll be here in five minutes.” A small smile grazed his face as he turned around and walked out, closing the door behind him.Taking a seat on the comfortable chair infront of the huge table, I heaved out a sigh in anger. Only if he had kept his mouth close --Looking around, I scanned the humongous office. The walls were painted in grey and black with no hint of white to it. It was dark just like my soul. A large bookshelf placed on the left, almost covering all of the wall and beside it was a mini bar, several different liquor placed on the isle. Large windows with black curtains draped over it. Opposite to it was a huge oak table with a cushion chair behind it. Several leather sofas placed near the other walls.Leaning backwards, I closed my eyes, cursing on the anger that got the best of me. The ache was burning on my skin
Midnight arrived quicker than usual. Her body was sprawled over the floor like a starfish. She hated the feeling of the fluffy bed. It was as if it was reminding her that she was dirty and despicable.Sighing she turned around, feeling the cold wood graze against her skin. This was something she was used to and she liked it way.‘How about listen to some songs?’ The voice mumbled in her mind. Humming, she ignored it like she always did. Only this time the voices seemed to be louder than usual.Suddenly, she got up and strided out to get away from the overbearing silence. The wrist on her watch showed the time; 2:10am. Walking down the stairs, she marched in the kitchen with her hands in the pockets of the torn cardigan she always wore. Her phone vibrated against her jean pocket, alerting her. Taking hold of it, she answered the call without any hesitation and placed it towards her ear.“Code 009, Former president needs to be finished off by you. And only you.”She gripped the phone ti
Scanning his face, she felt fear and anger surfing through her veins. The brother who was supposed to tell everyone the truth. The brother who knew she was innocent. The brother who had seen it all with his very own eyes.“And who am I?” She tilted her head. The sour taste left her biting her very own tongue. “I don't know, probably a thief..?” He trailed off, his eyes meeting hers with curiosity.“Yeah right. A thief that drinks coffee in a guarded house full of men at almost three at night.” She replied sassily, sarcasm dripping from her tone.He cocked a perfect eyebrow at her chuckling a bit.“True though.”“Ain’t a bit sorry for not recognizing me?” She placed the empty mug down in the sink. Taking a step forward, his cold green eyes instantly flicked at the CCTV camera in the far corner. She inwardly scoffed at his behaviour.“What if I’ve come to murder you?” She breathed out with malice, her voice dropping by each and every second. The voices in her mind loving the effect of h
Can we save ourselves from the bitter feelings? bet not. The life cycle is overall the very same. Put a fake smile and live as if nothing matters. It doesn't matter because the brain is already declared as dead inside. The siblings were cackling and listening to the songs that played on the aux. Enrico was on the drivers seat, whilst Savio on the passenger. Sienna sat in the middle of the back seat, Seraphina on one side and Vito on the other. She gazed at the scenery that went by but her ears were somewhat listening to the people who had long forgotten her.The aching within her chest had gone dull but the itching didn't. She had too cover up the patches of red and purple with the concealer she stole from her mothers drawer.Constantly scratching her arm, she fought the will to scream out in pain. Her breathing was calm however the taste of the bile still lingered on her tongue.‘They don't care.’ The voice darkly chuckled, to which she inwardly snorted. She knew it well that she mea
“We’re back.” Sienna yelled as she threw herself on the couch in exhaustion.“Oh oh. What did you get? Where is my share?” Raffaello emerged from the kitchen with a bucket of icecream tucked under his armpit.“Dude, do I even know you?” Shrugging, she gave him a small grin.“Young lady, you exactly know who I am otherwise why would you live in a strangers house?” He mocked back, taking a seat next too her, making her giggle in response. “Give this too me.” Savio ripped away the creamy coldness, earning a loud groan from him in return. “Sav. Icecream cannot be taken as a joke. So give it back to me.”“No can do. Get more from the freezer.” He flipped him off, plopping himself opposite to Sienna. “Rude hoe.” Raffaello mumbled.“Done with the shopping?” Agostino appeared before them with his phone latched to his ear. “Yep.” Sienna replied. He nodded and sat on his specific spot.“Did you get Seraphina everything she needed?” Alfonso asked, a folded paper in his fist. The chatter abruptly
The next day, she arrived at the breakfast table before anyone could, but Agostino sat with the same coffee mug in his hand.“Morning.” She whispered to which he tilted his head up and nodded in return.Taking a seat infront of him, Seraphina folded her hands on her lap. “Good morning.” Alfonso erupted from the kitchen with a small smile on his face. Taking a seat opposite to her, he asked, “Ready for tomorrow?”Arching an eyebrow, she leaned back, confused.“I meant it’s your first day of school tomorrow, aren't you excited?”She gave him a shrug. “Don't know.”Eying her sleepy face, he didn't ask anymore.Alfonso was someone who loved his siblings more than anything. He could even take a bullet for them, if needed. Even when he was just a teenager, he cared and pampered his brothers until the little girls came along. The girls were the sunshine in their life. Their screechy laughs and vigorous babbling lit up the dark house. The two of them had their favorites, like Sienna was alway
Hiding in the moonlight. It’s not grand but it’s hard.Whispering while hiding her body in a small secluded basement. Darkness the only friend known forever. Slowly her hands reached out hoping for salvation. Was she weird? Bloody dark basement. Finally at the end of the dawn when she couldn't fall asleep, it was like she was wandering through a nightmare with her eyes open. The whole day she had stayed in her room, the emotion of nervousness peaking to its head. Tomorrow was the first day of school and was she excited? The answer was simply a no.School was something she always hated but sadly it was her escape. An escape from the terrible reality which resided in her previous house. Her grades were perfect, since she always wanted her so called parents to know that she was worth something.Sighing for the hundredth time, she reached for the locket that was always hidden in her backpack. That one locket given by someone special who had faith in her that one day she would be able to s
SeraphinaRicardo Lopez.I wasn't scared. I used to convince myself that I wasn't.But now, after seeing him, right here infront of with the very same wicked and evil smirk, I couldn't help but shiver violently on the bed. This man had the aura of making people tremble, just like when Agostino had his blank expression on, just his was nastier."Bella, oh, Bella. Does it hurt?"My eye twitched. His concern was a facade. His words were fake.Ricardo Lopez was a literal fake, ass manipulator.I looked at the door, back at him and then again at the door. Cyrus, where are you?"He won't come, Bella," he declared, his smirk widening as he intook my blank expression and somehow he knew I wanted to ask the reason. "My men and him. A good combo don't you think, Bella?"I gathered my strength and finally muttered, "don't bring him into this mess.""But Bella, you were the one to bring him in the first place, si? Just like your other pests."I clutched the sheets, tightly."Don't do anything to
SeraphinaShould I laugh? Or should I cry? Or maybe just act numb?Honestly, I didn't knew. The explanation was something my own personality couldn't figure out. Tears or joy? Heck, I never knew this was that complicated. But according to the psyche, first impressions are heart to change and this psyche was the only logic which never changed my opinion for Agostino. I did hate him, yes, that wasn't a question, but even in that hate, the happy moments with him during childhood never changed, no matter how much I tired to stain the colorful canvas with blood, darkness and black paint.I detested myself for it and honestly somehow it wasn'T an option, because denial was the only method to have my mental and psychological mind in good health. But now, after hearing him, my brain couldn't process the fact that he was here a minute ago, hugging me senselessly while repeating the, "I'm sorry," chant over and again,Enrico'S doctor personality took over him and he asked, does it hurt anywhere
Seraphina"You shouldn't have riled him up like that." Two girls were hurdled against the metal bars whilst the other one was backed up in the wall, totally hidden by the shadows. "He isn't... kind." The one on the left spoke, her voice super cracky and shallow. "Code 1069, is right. You should have just tried to speak, Code 009."Code 009, looked up at the girls, staring at them blankly as ever. She couldn't stand their attitude. It wasn't the first time, they had tired to make her talk. Since the day they both---the new codes, had arrived in her cell a few months back, they had non-stopped asked her to escape the hell, but all she did was nod and shake. "Code 009, I know you have a name Seraphina and so do we. Maybe, we can try talking to each other without our code names and we'll tell you ours? But oh wait, let me tell you already, I'm Valerie, Valerie Kozlov, age 9." "And I'm Lola Pierce, age 15."Seraphina nodded, acknowledging their hard-work of coping up with her, because
AgostinoThis world didn't play good. Not to us or anyone. If we turn soft-hearted the people around us tend to eat up our souls mentally and physically. And if we portray ourself as the strong ones, suddenly we become insanely bad.The pain, the torment, the hardships we endure in turning strong is discarded all of a sudden.Pathetic, ain't not?Life is just not fucking fair for us orphans. Everything for them is never given on the plate. The only way to go up is to fuck everyone and their fucking opinions. And right now, I just wanted to kill this, excuse of a human tied infront of me. But no, giving him a simple death would be a fucking heaven for him.I wasn't planning on giving him that peace.Grabbing the bucket from the side, I splashed the contents within it on his face, jolting him awake from his unconscious state."N-No, s-stop. Please.""Boss, he was the only one on site, barely alive. But he won't spill anything." One of my men spoke from behind me, his voice stoic and har
Two povs in this chapter. 3rd and Enrico's."Nonno?" (Grandfather)"Where is she?"Alfonso arrived, grabbing Nonno's arm before he could rip the doors open, afterall he wanted to see his beloved granddaughter whom he hadn't seen in ages."She is in good hands. Don't worry Nonno.""Yeah, she'll be fine. Serio." Leonid assured him with a nod however the old man had other plans and this time no one would stop him.He straight went ahead to Agostino and before someone could mutter a word, he slapped him right across the cheek with force making his face fly towards the left. The atmosphere tensed and some of them silently gasped."You asshole of a son. How could you?""Jesus Serio. Stop." The elderly lady from behind shouted at him, before she came forward towards the two."You want me stop, Vermilia? No. I won't let this slide. Not this time, because I've had enough of their childish tantrums.""Nonno please, not right here." Alfonso quietly begged him to not cause a scene but the old man
There are two povs here. To avoid confusion---there is written 'Agostino', it's the start of his pov. "Common, Seraphina. Wakeup."Agostino cradled her body close to his chest, as he barked orders in Italian."The car?!""Fuckers, shot the tires. I've called, to provide us a car asap." Leonid calmly stated, however the tension within them rose as he saw how she struggled to breathe."We don't have time, Leo. She'll fucking die." He hissed like a snake ready to pounce on him for delaying."2 minutes max."Thick worry surrounded the people as the time went by.The darkened alley was now slightly lit from the fire Agostino's men ignited.Others had been dragged away the scene, however Fulvio remained so did Vito, even when Agostino told them to leave, they didn't.Fulvio grabbed her shirt from the ground before coming forward. "Tie this around her wound.""Do it." Agostino ordered instead and he complied.Fulvio crouched, and slightly flinched at the sight. Her blood oozing from the thr
SeraphinaOne thing I truly despised was standing in between two judgemental stares. If there was a way to get rid of this, I really could have dug my own grave down and hibernated like a snail in disguise."And you still are, a coward." I nonchalantly stated, not at all bothered to hear what he had to say.Fulvio glanced between us, confused. "Hold on, what is going on here?"My orbs diverted to him, shrugging. "I don't know, ask your little brother."Fulvio cocked his brow at Vito, waiting, so he could answer his unanswered questions.Vito ignored him entirely, keeping his gaze frozen at me. I crossed my arms under my chest. "What? Can't face your brother?"His eyes suddenly glistened and somehow my heart found it skipping a beat. "Will you forgive me?"I force out a laugh. "Forgive? And you? Aren't you a bit delusional?""I am no---""For fucks sake, tell me what is going on?!" Fulvio harshly cut him off. His anger was quite visible on his face, even a fat blue vein popped on his f
Seraphina"And what do you mean by that?"I cross my arms over my chest as I scan his face looking for any emotions however he had none, just like Agostino---no, i'd say worse than that. Why was he even talking to me in the first place?Vlad leans back on the bench and shrugs. "Kinda felt like saying it."My eye lowered in confusion. This man clearly just stared, never once initiating a conversation with me, so why now?"Come straight to the point."He momentarily glanced at me before looking back the open ground. "Clever, yes?"I remained quiet and he inhaled a deep sigh. "Alright, yes. I do have a purpose.""Spill.""Giovanni and Cyrus, are your men right?"I chocked on my spit as my head whiplashed towards him. "W-What?""They are." He nods to himself as if my outburst completely made his hypothesis true.I swiftly shake my head. "No."His head turns ever so slightly with an amused hum."They are not." I pressed. However I knew he clearly knew I was lying on his face.He nods again
SeraphinaI was shocked---scratch that, I felt hurt.Enrico dangerously glared at me.His hand tightened around my forearm. "Did you slap her?" He calmly asked, however I could feel the anger radiating out of him.I tilt my head and glance at Alfonso, whose eyes were fixed on my scar instead of Sienna's cheek."Yes or no?" He roughly shook me, diverting my attention back to him. "So what?" I questioned instead. His orbs darkened and his hand further tightened, almost cutting the blood supply. "Repeat.""And why would I do that?" I argued. If he thinks, he can make his way around with his words, then he is clearly wrong. I, Seraphina wasn't the one to bow down."Because i'm asking you to." He sneered."Enrico, stop." Alfonso came forward, placing his hand on his wrist which was securely holding me in place. "Why the fuck should I? Just because you feel sorry for her? Oh don't tell me you actually think this scar is real?" Enrico hissed, like an angry lion. Before Alfonso and I could sa
