LUPE’S POV
It was full moon and its pale light shined so bright for everyone to see clearly. Everyone was anticipating for the ceremony to be held. I peeped from time to time, checking if Garrett would seek in to see me before the ritual like agreed but, nothing.
Honestly, I was stunned by the number of people who came for my mating ceremony. Might be because Garrett was a Beta. If just me, no one would have come to the mating ceremony because, I’m a mere omega but, they had no idea I wasn’t ordinary… a rare wolf.
Mum later explained the reason I was considered a rare wolf. I never heard of the purple moon until of recent. Only a few, knows the legendary tales.
However, I was dressed in an evening gown which had a low neckline to give Garrett easy access to marking me.
Finally getting mated.
But somehow, the mischievous smile Kiera gave me at noon, still made me feel unease. That they might have planned something up their sleeves. Something didn’t feel right.
You'll be fine as soon as you see your mate though. Just calm down so you don't trip on the way to him." She joked.
"That would be so embarrassing!" I exclaimed, suddenly gaining my voice.
A loud bang was heard, it signaled the start of the ceremony. I could feel everyone's attention on me as my mom walked me towards Garrett. They had once mocked me and made me feel like a nobody. I could still hear their whimpers.
I focused on Garrett. He seemed different. He didn’t look that happy. His expression was usually tensed, scared and uncertain. I tried to signal him but, he didn’t respond. He just gave me a neutral look.
When then stood next to each other, I heard his voice, “Is there something you would like to tell me now?” His question took me off guard.
I was about to answer when one of the elders signaled us to quiet.
The officiator started the rituals, he was about to cut Garrett and I hand when the unexpected happened.
"And what is going on here?" but no one uttered a word as they shook in fear. I turned to see the Alpha and step sister.
I needed no one to tell me that, he was the Lycan king.
“I asked a question, right?” He growled so loud that, my heart skipped a beat. But I wasn’t going to let them win.
"My mating ceremony, of course." I answered while looking him straight in the eyes.
“I am sorry. She never told me of your interest. I didn’t know until tonight. Please spare my life and that of my family.” Saying that, Garrett fell to the ground and my eyes widened.
“What?!”
I met Kiera’s face and she had the fullest smile.
“I will reject her now.” Garrett sounded so serious.
The Lycan king stood on top of Garrett, “How dare you try to escape my orders using your mate?” He asked me.
“Please don’t hurt him. Please!” I cried out as Garrett was on the ground, groaning in agony.
“And who else supported this?” He turned to face my mother who already went on her knees. “You thought you can play me right?” He asked and mum shook her head.
“No, my lord. He was her mate and…”
“Shut the fuvk up stupid woman. Do I look like a fool to you?” He asked.
Everyone present at the ceremony were all on their knees except me. Garrett was beginning to shed tears.
“Everyone hear will not live to tell the story. I will start with this idiot, then your mother and, one after the other, you will watch them all die and their blood will be on your head.” He said, and jumped on Garrett who did nothing but groan.
“Please,” I started, going down on my knees. “Spare them and take me instead. I am the one you want.” Everyone was sobbing and it was my fault. If only I ran away, no one would have been dragged into my mess.
Daring him would only lead to more deaths.
“So now, you are ready to be my mate?” He asked and I hesitated.
In a blink, Mum’s right hand was cut off and everyone gasped in shock.
Finally, tears were rolling down. I hurried to her side but was stopped from touching her.
“One deal. If your blood heals her, that would be a yes and if it doesn’t, I will take that as a no and a fake and, I would kill everyone.”
I searched for my step father’s face, I knew it could only be him. He told the Lycan king about my secret. He too seemed terrified. I guess things are now tougher than he had planned.
“No. Don’t do it.” Mum cried out, shaking her head. “I rather die than watch you be his breeder. He is a monster.”
“What do we do? No, you can’t let him have us and, we won’t want to lose mother. If we run away, there will be no one left and, being a monster with strength, he would catch us in no time after all, you are an omega.” Leah mentioned.
“And I will grant it.” the Lycan king smiled as he stepped down from Garrett, “I will kill you first then.” He grabbed mum by the neck, struggling her as we all watch in horror. Even the Alpha was in tears. Hurting mum was also, hurting him too.
“Please…” I watched, thinking the Lycan king would stop but no, he doesn’t care about anyone.
“I will treat her.” I begged and, mum fell to the floor like a mug.
He handed a knife to me. “Do anything funny and, it will all be over.” He assured me.
Overlooking mum’s weak voice protesting, I took the knife and cut through my wrist. The Lycan king watched curiously as I was able to heal mum with my blood.
“Good girl. You will scream my name tonight and your beloved here will do us the honor of listening.” His words dropped off with malice.
“Seize her!” He ordered and, two royal guards held me. I fought to struggle free.
I mouthed ‘I’m sorry’ to Garrett who was still coughing out blood. Guards too got a grip on him.
It was all my fault.
While been dragged away, I first looked at my stepfather, he was even ashamed of himself. He couldn’t meet my eyes. He did fail as a father. Then to my step sister, she seemed satisfied. Though, I noticed she was among those who gasped at my secret power. Guess that was the only thing she didn’t see coming.
I was dragged to the room designed for Garrett and I to have our first night together. They pushed me in and shut the door after the Lycan king got in too.
“You perverted coward!” I cursed at him, struggling so hard to free myself.
He came to me and leaned closer, our face our inches away, “You should consider thus an honor,” He sneered. “Some would kill to spend the night with me.” He boasted.
“You can have my body but, you can never own me.” I spat on his face.
LUPE’S POVHe instantly grabbed my face, putting pressure as he pressed on my lower jaw like he would crush it to pieces in a tighter squeeze.“You better behave.” And what followed next was a slap. I saw darkness with tiny shiny stars. It almost looked real until, it started to fade as the pain of the slap reduced. “You don’t talk to me in such a manner. Or do you have a death wish?” He asked with a raised brow.My anger were bubbling in my blood as I bit my lower lip, trying to suppress the urge to cry as tears welled up in my eyes, blurring my sight. No one has ever dared to slap me since I was the step daughter to the Alpha of my pack. “Let me go!” I muttered.Overlooking what I said, he took a few steps backwards and uttered with a mischievous smile, “You are beautiful. I hope that is how you are on the inside. The bastard of a mate hasn’t touched you, right? Guess he planned to do that tonight but, he I am to help him out on that.”My heart bleed knowing it was supposed to be my
LUPE'S POV"You are a beast!" I yelled, my voice quivering with rage and terror. My words kept lingering in the air, but the Lycan King literally ignored me. He was acting very calmly, as if he was the only breathing life in the room or maybe my defiance were only but a noise from a distant breeze.I sat at the extreme end of the bed, my body shaking not just in fear but to the fact that the sight of him was really disgusting. I held my arms tightly around my body, as if I was trying to protect the little pride left in me. I was too scared to dare to stand or try to make any rash movement. That very moment my mind was really racing with desperate thoughts."Lupe you can escape! Run! Just leave everything behind and run for your dear life."But even as those thoughts kept lingering in my head. I knew it was a very bad idea, clearly impossible. Even if I manage to sneak out of the room, there would be guards stationed at every angle of the house. I'm sure they are guards standing outsid
LUPE'S POV"Run! It's all on fire. Everything is burning to the ground," everywhere was on fire.I was startled awake by the screaming, but I didn't feel like I had actually woken up. My nose were overwhelmed with the pungent smell of smoke, and my ears were filled with people's frantic screams. Flames licked at the sky as I staggered forward, my feet crunching on the charred ground. Everywhere around me was hot and it seemed like the whole world was on fire. Cries and shouts radiated from all directions, combining to create an overwhelming clamor. Some wolves in human form were pulling others who were barely able to keep up as they rushed by me, their fur burning as they ran in utter despair. The pack village I had known my whole life was turning to ash, and children were screaming for their moms. It was an unbearable sight. My pulse was racing as I spun around in panic, trying to figure out what was going on. With every second that went by, the flames grew louder, mercilessly consu
LUPE'S POV Once more, the knock was sharper. After a moment of hesitation, I relunctantly stood up and yanked the door open. A woman in her early fifties stood in front of me, with her rude face and evil eyes that seemed to cut straight through me.They called her "Sarah the slasher," though I don't know why everyone in the pack house refer to her as that. Her eyes moved over me, from my bare feet to the tangled mess of hair that fell around my shoulders, and she made no effort to conceal her contempt. I could clearly notice the slight curvature of her lips in disgust."What took you so long to open the damn door?" she whispered, barely audible but loud enough for me to hear.In the back of my mind, my wolf Leah growled, and I tensed up. Leah hissed, "She's making fun of us."I ignored Sarah without even looking straight to her eyes. Then after a while I turned my attention away from leah and towards Sarah, who stood up straight and arched an eyebrow. "You've had enough of sleep thi
Lupe’s POVAs I left to get other things, i returned to see Kyan had left too. I hissed and continued my task.At last, the dining room was tidy. The sunshine pouring in through the tall windows made the floor so shiny. I felt a tiny twinge of pride at the work I'd done, even though my arms hurt from the scraping and I could still perceive some pungent cleaning solution. I gave myself a little moment of satisfaction because it was uncommon for me to feel like I had done anything here. After gathering the cleaning items, I put the mop back in its proper place in the corner and wrapped the rags with care. I was about to go to my room when I heard footsteps approaching behind me. I didn't even turn back before my stomach fell.I knew it was Kyan again. Who else could it be if not her?"What the fuck do you think you are doing?" She said in a very harsh, disrespectful tone. 'Why won't this b*tch leave me alone?' I wasn't surprised that she came back to check. And here I was, thinking sh
Lupe’s POVAfter she was done making mockery of me, she left feeling like a boss."You shouldn't get on her nerves. She is the witch here. Though to you, worse. I've not seen her behave this inhumane to anyone before." A girl said from behind.I cleaned my tears and continued, giving no room for chats."I'm Ariel, what's yours?" The girl who is obviously a maid too, asked. She bent and helped in packing the dirts on the floor so, it would be easier for me to mop."Thank you." I said instead of telling her my name."Since you are still in a bad mood, I will finish this and maybe later." She said and I didn't answer. She did as she said and left me alone.Quickly, I finished up and rushed to my room. It was my only safe shelter. Once I leave that room, something would surely bring tears to my eyes.My room's small windows let in the early light, which left the walls in deep shadows. The pain of shame from yesterday incident was still very fresh in my mind. The incident kept on replaying
LUPE'S POV After several hours, the loneliness was intolerable. My stomach started grumbling but, I wasn't served food or water. No one responded when I pleaded to even use the restroom. I eventually lost it, when it became impossible to hold, and the embarrassment of wetting myself just made me feel worse.Tears were streaming down my cheeks as I sat on the chilly floor and held my knees to my chest.'How did this happen?' I thought sourly. I never expected any of this. All I wanted was a peaceful existence. A mate who cherished me. An opportunity to feel cheerful. Garrett would have given me that life if it hadn't been for the Lycan king.Happiness, however, seemed like a distant perception, something that maybe, belonged to someone else.I said there theough the long day and the night freezing in cold. Nobody came to check on me, I felt like they've forgotten I even existed. The following morning, I was too weak to rise when the door finally opened. Two guards came in, frowning
Adrain's POVI kept drinking the whiskey I had previously poured in the glass cup on my desk, allowing the deep burn to melt into my throat. I could still hear the sound of the door shutting behind Lupe just after she left. For someone like her, she had the audacity to seek for freedom. Really?, it was really funny. I swirled the drink into my glass and grinned.I said, "Freedom, hahaha." Letting the word linger. She doesn't how foolish she sounded when, she thought I was ever going to release her. It was an annoying and a ridiculous idea. She believed she could control the conditions of her stay under my home and bargain with me. Wow, she is so naive to ever think of that in the first place. Her bluster was funny, but it also caught my attention. Poor Lupe, who was frail and unnoticed, seemed to be unable to comprehend the flames. Even when the flames are consuming her. Despite the fact that she looked terrified, I could see it in her eyes and sense it in the way she stood in front o
Lupe's POV My hands moved faster than steel. It sliced through the rotten fleshs of the rogues and the hunters. My eyes were fixed on the gates, I need to save Dave before it was too late. I needed to fight without facing the danger of hurting my pup, fighting in my human form was not helping, the hunters were strong, they fought till their last breathe. Whatever Sabastian promised them must be something they were willing to die for. I sensed the presense of a rogue behind me, I turned sharply. "It's you." His words were sloppy and he counted them as though he feared words. I sent him a look with one hand placed over my stomach protectively. That was becoming an habit, I needed to drop it before I get caught."Care to identify yourself?" I asked keeping my eyes on him. I noticed that we were drawing the attention of the other rogues who were moving closer to me. "That is none of your business." He snapped. My eyes scanned through the crowd in search of Adrian, but he was busy
Lupe's POV For a moment, my heart stopped then it began to beat wildly. He was staring at me with those dark eyes, I was experiencing a lot of firsts with this new Adrian, for the first time, his usual arrogant look was gone, replaced with ones that stared at me with so much intense emotions.I swallowed hard trying to calm my beating heart. "Don't do that." I said not taking my eyes off his. "Tell me what I shouldn't do." His voice was low, we were alone in the woods, surrounded by animals who crawled in the shadows and insects whose chirping was loud enough to make a deaf man hear. But for some reasons, I wasn't scared; I have never been scared of him but I once dreaded meeting him. Seeing him here all alone in the middle of nowhere, I should have been scared of what he might do to me but crazy me was tingling in anticipation. The look in those eyes was driving me crazy. "D.. I mean, don't worry about me." Damnit! Why in the name of the goddess was I stuttering?!"Why shouldn't
Adrian's pov.Her eyes were hard, I could tell that she was very worried about Dave. She must have liked him a lot, afterall, he protected her while I failed. A part of me suddenly felt jealous of him, he had someone who was very worried about him. "I can't have you risk your life Lupe, I will find a way to bring Dave here, I think that's better and safer." I said not moving an inch from where I stood."You think?" She scoffed at me. My jaw dropped in disbelief, "I.. I think it's less dangerous." "Let's say we do it the way you want, on your way back to the palace, you get shot by the same poisonous arrows, then you bring Dave out into that horrible battle field, risking his life. Woah, very brillant idea." She clapped.Instantly, I felt so foolish for the first time, "You're right, it's too risky." "What are you both planning to do?" Fiona appeared at the door, I could tell she had been eavesdropping. "We are leaving Fiona, I'm sorry it's sudden, but thank you for everything." L
Lupe's POV Instantly his hands fell off my waist, I picked myself up."What games are you trying to play your highness?" I drawled the last part as I folded my arms watching him. He pushed himself up, "games?" He asked looking confused."Yes, if you think I'd easily fall into your trap, then you better have a rethink." My hands were trembling in anger. There was no way he would suddenly come searching for me to apologize for his wrong doings especially not after I heard his harsh words the day I left the palace."Lupe, I am not playing any games, I came here to plead for your forgivness and ask that you return with me to the pack." He said. "Return to hell?" I scoffed, "You're kidding." "What can I do to make you believe me Lupe?" He asked. "How can I believe any word you say when you were so ready to have the guards throw me out? Aren't I the bitch you hated? I decided to save myself the shame by leaving in my own accord." I spat at him.His face dropped, "You heard." It sounde
Lupe's POV All eyes in the room turned to face me, including him. I must be crazy walking towards the same man I ran away from in my own accord. But I couldn't let him die. I overheard him talking to Fiona pleading to see me for some unknown reasons, he sounded desperate. "Are you sure about this Leah?" I asked as I walked towards wondering if I could really heal what the healer couldn't. "Yes, all he needs is your blood to cleanse his contaminated one." She explained. Fiona turned to me with guilty eyes, "I'm sorry Lupe, I don't know how he found out."I sent her a smile, "It's fine." I knew it would take him only a couple of hours to find me. To be honest, a part of me came here hoping we'd cross paths someday. "Lupe, can we talk?" Adrian asked. For the first time since I knew him, he was being polite, not the usual jerk that I was used to.I remained silent avoiding his gaze. "Can you help me with a knife?" I turned to the maid standing by the door."Yes my lady." She bowed
Adrian's POV "We have no idea who she is." She replied with shoulders trembling in fear."I think she's a friend to the Luna, they are inseparable. For some reasons, I felt proud of Fiona. I was grateful that at least she was nicer to Lupe."Not everyone is like you." My wolf interjected. Ignoring him, I turned to the girls, "Describe how she looked." I needed to be sure for the last time. "Or aren't you just stalling?" He interupted my thoughts again. As much as I hated to admit, he was a little right, for the first time in my life, I was frightened to see someone. I felt so bad for the way I treated her and I was scared of her reaction. She probably hates me. I deserved it, every feeling of hatred that she had for me, I deserved every single one of them. "She is tall, taller than the queen. Her face is one of the most prettiest I've ever seen. She's well endowed and she has a very bold and daring aura." It was her, it was Lupe. "What are you doing to my people, brother?" I h
Adrian's POV The pack was busy when I got there, people moved around carrying furnitures and portraits bearing the picture of their Alpha, Alex. They walked past me giving me a small bow as they went. It felt strange, they seemed to care about their Alpha than they cared about me.Not saying a word, I walked in their midst. "I can't wait to see the Luna, I heard she's very pretty." One young girl carrying a flower pot said with a blush on her face."Oh, you weren't her when she was announced as the Luna." Her friend replied. The flower girl shook her head, "My mom was sick, the king was kind enough to let us take her back home to her father to get treated. He didn't want us to say, but he gave us enough food and gold to keep us going till she was able to get back on her feet." "The King has always been nice, he's just like his father." Her friend was smiling. "Don't you think the queen is like the former queen too? I heard she's equally alike." Her friend smiled, "She's more beau
Adrian's POV "Her scent is faint, I can barely trace her." My wolf released a frustrated growl. "Let's keep searching, we must find her." I replied jumping over a fallen maggot infested tree. I got to a crossroad, for some reasons, her scent was gone. It was as though she vanished into thin air. I couldn't tell which road she took. Deciding to trust my instincts, I took to the left leading to her former pack. She might have gone back home to her family. "I don't think she's stupid enough to go to where you'd find her." My wolf muttered."There's no harm in trying, I will leave no stone unturned till I find her." I replied increasing my pace. Time was no on my side, Dave was drifting slowly into eternal sleep and my kingdom was falling. I needed Lupe more than anything else. I trusted Cenat to hold off the army, but he can't hold them off for long, he was injured. Fighting off a thousand well trained hunters was a difficult task. He was obviously risking his life. I hoped that th
Lupe's POV "Are you fine Lupe?" Fiona asked as she patted my back. I was squatting on the ground with my head bent down towards the heap of grass that had just been cut. My throat felt like it was filled with packs of needles that pierced my flesh hard. "I'm okay, it's just the morning illness." I replied getting up. She handed me a bowl of water, "wash your face with this, I will get the healer to check how the child is doing." "I'm fine Fio- Luna Fiona, I just need a little rest. Guess the baby doesn't want food this morning." I smiled at her hoping she would relax. Her shoulders were tensed and her facial expression filled worry. "Just call me Fiona, we are friends so it's fine." She took back the bowl before handing it over to the maids who stood behind us. "Even if the child doesn't want food, you still need to see the healer, and I'm not listening to any protests." She sent me a playful scowl. "Alright, do what you please your highness." I bite back my laugh.Since I left
