In the following days, Eleanor's face kept appearing in my thoughts. I skipped my usual weekend visit to Aunt Macy's house to avoid any more awkward encounters, making up an excuse about working overtime when she called to check on me.

However, fate had other plans, and I saw Eleanor again on Saturday night. That evening, I had made plans to go out drinking with Robert.

"This is rare, Shawn. Don't you usually spend Saturdays at Aunt Macy's?" Robert asked as he poured me a drink.

I downed my drink without responding and poured myself another. Sensing my mood, Robert stayed quiet and just kept drinking with me.

"Alright, enough! I'm going to be sick if we keep drinking like this!" Robert finally grabbed my hand to stop me.

Through my drunken haze, I looked at him and slurred, "Come on, let's keep going."

Robert glared at me. "Hell no! Something's clearly wrong with you today. Spill it. What's bothering you?"
