The doorbell rang and Natasha pulled herself out of the couch to go and open the door. Ever since the fight between Diane and Nicholas that night, Diane had insisted that Natasha stayed with her. She claimed that she would soon divorce Nicholas anyway, so, the contract that climbed that Nicholas had to take care of the sisters was void.

Natasha pulled the door open and was surprised to see Nicholas standing there, a bouquet of roses in his hands. “Nicholas! What are you doing here?”

“Your sister instructed me to come here this evening,” he said. “We’ve found a new way we can track Malvika’s location.”

“That’s nice. Come inside,” she said, stepping aside for him to walk in. She closed the door and turned towards him, heading back for the couch. “Those are nice flowers,” she said as she flopped on the couch.

“They are for Diane.”

“Why don’t you drop them at the table and sit?” she asked.

“No, I’d rather give them to her personally,” he answered choosing to stand in the middle of the liv

Malvika stumbled into the hotel, her shoes in her hand. Her hair look disheveled and her clothes were dirty. She had had a messed up day and all she wanted to do was go to bed. She glanced at her wristwatch. The time was fifteen minutes to ten. She knew Haley would be packing up to end her shift, so she wakes towards her table. She slumped down on a seat across Haley. “Hey,” she mumbled, making her presence known.“Hey, honey,” Haley said as she raised her head and saw Malvika. During the five days that Malvika had spent here, the both of them had fallen into an easy camaraderie of chatting and talking and sharing their problems with each other. “What’s wrong? You look horrible.”“I feel just horrible too. Infact, I’m pretty sure I feel worse than I look.”“What happened, hon?” Haley asked.“Went job hunting again,” Malvika groaned. “Today was worst then the rest. I pushed and shoved and groveled upon, yet I wasn’t given the job.”“Oh, sweetie. I’m so sorry.”“My stay in this hotel wi

Diane sat in the car beside Nicholas, mute, as Nicholas's driver drove to the airport. The both of them had hurriedly packed a few things ranging from their personal belongings to their phones. Diane turned on her phone and quickly scrolled through her contact list. She clicked in Sheila, her personal assistant's number and dialed it. After a few rings, Sheila answered the call. “Hey, Sheila,” Diane said in a small voice. “Something urgent came up and I won’t be coming to work for a few days….. Yes. Tell Ariana that I’ve tried her number so many times…… I’m counting on you to keep the place together until I return. Good. Bye,” She said and ended the call. Then, she sighed and leaned backwards, relaxing into the car seat. “How are you feeling?” “Exhilarated,” Diane replied with another sigh. “This feels weird, like we are running away or something.” “Like eloping?” Nicholas asked with a chuckle. “Hmmm….. except we aren’t. We are merely going after my sister who took off days ago.” S

Malvika rolled around in bed, yawning and squeezing her eyes shut. She stayed put on the bed for a while with her eyes closed before she finally opened them. Reaching her hands out, she grabbed her phone and turned it on. Her eyes blinked twice when she saw the time. Half last nine? Oh shit, shit, shit, she thought as she scrambled out of bed and made her way to the bathroom hurriedly. Today was Friday and well, since she got a job at the restaurant yesterday, she was pretty sure that she was supposed to be there by now. Damn it. She had never had a job before, so, she had never gotten used to waking up early for one. And now that she had one, she was about to royally fuck things up.She had a quick bath and quickly slipped on a pair of jean trousers, a top and some sneakers. She grabbed her phone, her purse and a comb. Then, she hurried out of the room, towards the elevator and out of the hotel. As she rushed outside, she saw the guy who switched shifts with Haley and quickly said

"What are you doing here?" Malvika asked in a trembling and yet shocked voice. She kept her gaze on Diane, unable to look at Nicholas. She had thought that running away to start a new life would wipe away the thoughts of her sins and mistakes. Who was she kidding? She should have known that Nicholas and Diane would go to all lengths to find her. And now, here she was, facing everything she had tried to run away from. She needed to get away from them as soon as she could, otherwise, she feared she would break down. "That's what we are here to ask you," Diane snapped. Sensing that Diane was on the verge of losing her cool, Nicholas stepped forward and held Diane's hand. "Malvika, we just want to talk.""Did me leaving without dropping a message not give you the memo? I don't want to talk to you." Saying this, she brushed past them violently, heading to the elevator. Behind her, she could hear their hurried footsteps."Malvika!" Diane yelled, ignoring the stares she got from the people

Diane sat in her office, her eyes focused on the papers in front of her as she tried to shuffle them together and arrange them. She had no idea what she was doing though. All she knew was that she needed to pack up before Nicholas came to pick her up for their date. But she couldn't concentrate. Her mind kept wandering and the only thought it kept wandering to was that of Malvika. She kept thinking of Malvika. It had been two weeks since she saw Malvika last, since Malvika basically told her without mincing words that she didn't want to have any thing to do with Diane or her family for now. Why? She wondered but she couldn't come up with an answer. Why will Malvika pick now, of all times, to cut off ties with her family? What happened? What went wrong? But Malvika had not been forthcoming with any reply. Instead, she and insisted that Nicholas and Diane go home and not contact her. But Diane, being Diane, had tried to call her when she arrived back at New York all to no avail. Malvik

"Ardelle, stop it," Malvika called out to the six year old girl who was by the kitchen table, dipping all of her fingers into the flour and rubbing it on her face. Keisha, Ardelle and Anthony were Haley's nieces and nephew, the kids Malvika was babysitting. She had gotten the job, thanks to Haley and she had been working for about two weeks now. She couldn't really say that she enjoyed the job, especially since she wasn't an expert with kids but the pay was great and so, Malvika didn't complain. Diane stood in front of the bathroom mirror, her heart thumping wildly, her hands shaking as she unwrapped the pregnancy test packet. She lowered herself into the toilet seat, raising up her dress and pulling down her panties. Closing her eyes, she placed the pregnancy test instrument beneath and let the urine flow on it and into the toilet. Then, she placed it back on the counter and waited. Just a year ago, and some months after Diane’s kidnap, Malvika delivered her baby boy in an hospital and just as she had promised, she gave that baby to Diane and Nicholas. The baby was named Cameron Alan Langston. Some months after birthing her child, Malvika left as she had said she would and took off for Florida to continue her life despite pleas from her sisters – Natasha and Diane. Diane had been raising Cam for a year and she was enjoying every moment of it. But recently she had begun to feel feverish – vomiting all over the house. No food could stay in her belly. At first she thought it wa

A slight sound of movement outside made Diane open her eyes. The entire room was still dark as there was no space for illumination. Her hands and feet were still bound together. Her neck hurt from having bending them in one position for a very long time. The mosquitoes in the room kept biting her and the notes were painful. She had been unable to sleep for a while even with her eyes closed, so when she heard movement in front of the door, her eyes flew open. She fixed her gaze on the door, sensing movements behind it. Her heartbeat increased in fear as she was unable to tear her gaze away from the door. Her fear heightened when someone started to bang something on the door. She began to struggle with her chains, unable to move. “Help!” she yelled. “Somebody, help me!” But the banging increased, until the door was pushed open. She opened her mouth and let out a loud scream when she saw the uniformed men armed to the bones barging in, “Ahhhhhhh…….” “Ma'am, please you can calm down,” On

Diane slowly opened her eyes. She let out a soft groan of pain as she tried to adjust herself on the ground. Her hands kept pulling against the cuffs. She glances around, shuffling her legs. The entire room was dark, except for the ray of light coming in beneath the door. She had spent almost two days in this hell hole that Jenny and Derek had locked her up in. Just yesterday, one of Jenny's goons had placed a call to her family, demanding a ransom. Diane let out a pant. She was feeling hungry and thirsty. Not only that, her entire body was in serious pains. Her body ached to the marrow and she had this massive headache that forced her to wince from time to time. She could not wait to get out of here, yet she had no idea how she would get out. The doors and windows were locked, her hands and feet were handcuffed and there was absolutely no way that she could free herself. Her best and only option was to wait for Nicholas to pay the ransom so she could be released. Just then, the door

“Hey,” Malvika said as she walked down the stairs tiredly. Natasha was sprawled on the couch, tired from her constant crying. Her eyes were red and her cheeks looked swollen. Malvika walked towards her and sat beside her. “Hey, are you still crying?” She asked, looking around the living room. She saw Nicholas standing by the door, talking lowly to someone on the phone. “I’m too tired to cry,” Natasha answered weakly. Her weeping had seeped out every of her energy. She pulled herself to sit up. “What do you think happened to her? She said she was going out and all of a sudden, we couldn’t find her. How did that happen?” “Okay, I need you to calm down,” Malvika said. “The cops are doing everything they can and Nicholas and I are trying our hardest best to find her. We are going to find her, okay?” Malvika tried to reassure her younger sister. She sounded sure of herself, but deep down, her insides crawled with doubt and fear. “Yeah, I don’t think that’s going to be possible,” Jenny says into her phone, pulling the cigarette away from her lips and blowing out a puff of smoke. She was seated on the chair, her legs crossed out in front of her as she listened to her brother ask her to come to the house. “Nick, I really appreciate the invite, but I’m sorry, I’m not going to be able to make it. And by the way, I’m really sorry about Diane.” After a while, she hung up and threw the phone on the table, letting out a sigh. “Nicholas?” Ashley asked as she flipped through a magazine. She glanced up at Jenny, raising her brow. “Yeah.” Jenny let out an exaggerated sigh. “He wants me to come over today,” she said, rolling her eyes. “I’m not going though. I’m in the middle of something,” she said, blowing out a ring of smoke while Ashley chuckled. “Why can’t we go, though?” “We?” Jenny raised a brow? “Who’s we?” she asked. “You and I of course.” “Okay cute, but he didn’t invite both of us. He invited me, his sister.

Malvika sat in front of the car with Nicholas, her nose pressed on to the window as she was deep in thoughts.
