Chapter 1

Adelie POV

After having a long day at the company today, I can finally go home.

"Are you going home already, Adelie?" My boss, Mr. Raymond asks me as he walks in on me packing up the files on my desk, and getting ready to go home.

Turning to glance at him, I pull a puzzled look, wondering what kind of question he just asked. Of course, where does it look like I'm about to go? Besides, I've closed for the day, so what's next if it's not to go home?

"Yes, Sir," I still reply to him, regardless, and he slowly nods his head. The look on his face tells me that he has something to say, but there's no way I would know what he wants to say if he doesn't spill it out, yeah?

"Uhm... Adelie..." He pauses and I turn to face him fully, giving him the look that literally asks him to go ahead and speak up. I don't have all day, and I really need to get back home and get something to eat. I'm so famished.

"Hmm?" I still reply to him when he doesn't acknowledge my expression.

"Are you free tonight? There's a new movie playing at the cinema today, was thinking we could watch it together if you're free," He says, looking extremely nervous like one talking to his crush. What am I saying? I'm his crush. 

Mr. Raymond is the son of the CEO of Walmart group of company, but the company was willed to him recently by his dad who is now aged and can't do office work anymore. I can't deny the fact that he's handsome, and also the way he has been looking at me since past few months I have been working with him. He has a crush on me, and same with me, but I can't possibly show it to him, right? That's how much ego I have.

"Yes, but it depends on my body when I get home. For now, I'm exhausted and need some rest, but who knows, I may be fine later tonight," I shrug, and he nods his head. 

"Alright. I'll get the ticket for us. I'll pick you up later by 8pm," He says to me, and I nod my head. As much as I'm excited that I'm going out with Mr. Raymond, I try not to show it to him. Because why should I?

"Alright. See you later," I say to him, and with that, I pick my back and stride out of the office, closing the door behind me.

Arriving at the parking lot later, I hop inside my car and finally drive out of the company, heading home.

My name is Adelie Williams, twenty-five years old daughter of one of the wealthiest businessmen in New York. After I finished college four years ago, I got a job in Walmart group of company, declining an offer to work in my father's company. Well, my brother is handling the company, and for some reason, I do not want to be stuck with him there.

Talking about my brother, his name is Asher, twenty-eight years old manager of my dad's company, and an annoying young man.

"Not again, please," I groan angrily and hit my hand on the steering wheel as I stop the car behind the several cars queued up on the road. There's a traffic jam again, just like there was in the morning. I'm just sick and tired of this whole shit. I wish I don't have to come out of the house daily because of this crazy traffic jam, but do I have a choice?

The sound of my ringing phone pull my attention, and I lazily reach out for my phone, but seeing the caller to be Asher, I roll my eyes and drop the phone angrily. What the hell does he want from me? Why's he calling me for goodness sake?

The traffic is finally sorted out, and I drive away afterward. 

My drive home was tiring and I almost felt like not coming home, but where else do I have to go? You can imagine the nightmare of having my own brother taking advantage of me, right? Yes, you heard that. I have been single since high school, because my obsessed brother never allowed me have a man in my life, for some reason best known to him.

Well, it all started when I just turned fifteen, Asher warned me not to get close to any man, and I have always obeyed him. I thought he was just protecting me at first, but it only grew worsen as time went by.

I finally turned twenty, and that was when my nightmare started. Asher would sneak into my room every night to do some dirty things to me. He would kiss and flirt with me, and the strange thing is that all those times, I never had the courage to push him away. I always enjoyed it, I loved what he has been doing to me, you can say that to me, but I assure you that's not the case. What was I supposed to do when it always felt it he casted a spell on me?

Driving into the compound minutes later, I park at the garage and take a deep breath before I step out of the car. My heart beats rapidly against my chest as I advance toward the entrance door, while I pray fervently that I don't meet Asher at home, even though I can see his car parked at the garage.

My hand trembles nervously as I reach out for the doorknob and twists it before I push the door open. My heart feels like it's going to explode the moment I step into the living room, but it finally explodes when I spot him sitting on one of the couches, having his attention on the TV.

"Where have you been, Adelie?" His deep and sexy voice sounds through my ears as he stands up to his feet and turn to face me, his pair of cat eyes staring intently at me, and as always, I feel my voice lost again. This is what always happens. I don't always be myself again whenever he stares at me with those eyes.

"I... I went to the office. Where else would I be coming from?" I shrug nervously, and he hisses.

"Come here," He extend his hand to me, but I step away nervously, and he sighs.

"Come on, I'm not biting you," He rolls his eyes, but there's no way I'm going close to him. I know what he's up to, and I'm not in for that.

"What's going on here? Why do you look so scared, Adelie?" Dad asks as he climbs down the stairs, and I gulp down nothing. How am I supposed to tell him that his son, my brother is trying to do something dirty with me?

"No... Nothing, dad. I just came back from office, and I was about going to my room. See you later," I glance at Asher for the last time before I make my way to my room...
