What happened next left Will in disbelief. The other Goblins had charged the boar without any planning or strategy. In addition, they were screaming and yelling their lungs out! The boar was immediately startled and tried charging away, but some of the Goblins had managed to surround it already. Chief was one of them, he was staring it right in the eyes. However the boar continued charging, Chief managed to roll to the side dodging the boar, but the two Goblins next to him got knocked in different directions. The size of the boar compared to the Goblins was huge, it was like a bull compared to a human. One of the Goblins who got knocked away hit a tree trunk, the sound of the spine snapping was loud and made all the other Goblins stop in their tracks.

Will walked over to Chief and helped him off the ground, Chief had a huge grin on his face. "Why happy? Boar gone!" Will exclaimed with his still developing Goblin vocabulary. Chief just shook his head and held on to Will's shoulder, "Good hunt! Only one die, boar run far, get tired." After saying this, Chief gathered up the other Goblins and they ran off in the direction of the boar while huddled together. Will decided to hang back a bit, following but keeping a certain distance. [Don't they have some kind of hunting strategy? Tiring out the boar while risking their own lives? That can't be worth it. Just the sense of smell being this good makes them excellent trackers, but the way they use it is terrible. Even prehistoric humans did better than this, and they didn't have all these advantages.]

As they moved through the forest, Will kept pondering on why the Goblins hunted this way, he also considered different ways to approach the hunt. He didn't have any previous hunting experience, everything Will knew he had learned from movies or school. The Goblins had obvious advantages that humans didn't have, the first was their size. They could move stealthily through the forest without making a sound, yet these Goblins stomped around not caring about the noise. Despite their size, they were also strong, they could grow bulging muscles. Chief was a good example of this, his muscles were very disproportionate to his body size, a Goblins body was very malleable. Another advantage was obviously their sense of smell, counting all these advantages, Goblins should be hunting masters. Yet these Goblins acted like complete amateurs, which amused Will considering his own experience on the subject.

After running for almost an hour they finally reached a small clearing with a pond, the boar was almost foaming at the mouth while ŀȧpping up as much water as it could. It was obviously tired, and the Goblins charged immediately. Will sighed while shaking his head. As the first Goblin reached the boar, he thrust his stick straight at the boar's rear end. The stick penetrated the hide, however it didn't go deep, the hide was tough and covered in rubbery bristles. As more Goblins arrived, most of their attacks were actually deflected by the bristles instead of penetrating the skin. The boar cried out in a panick and started bucking, several Goblins were knocked away. The ones in the back got their skulls crushed by the hind legs, while the ones in the front got knocked into the pont. Chief was also struggling, but he managed to keep avoiding the hits from the boar, he was obviously more experienced than the rest. He managed to get a few stabs in but none of them were critical enough cripple the boar.

Will was desperately trying to think of something while watching his fellow Goblins getting injured and dying around him. He looked around taking in as much of the environment as possible, and as if a light had turned on in his head he got an idea. Will ran back into the forest but wasn't gone for long, he came back to the edge of the clearing with a decently sized rock. It was almost the size of his own head, and quite heavy as well. He ran towards a big tree and started climbing it while keeping the stone under his left arm. Will was struggling quite a bit, however his claws dug deep into the bark as he slowly moved upwards. He reached the top and stood on one of the thicker branches, it was long and reached almost to the center of the clearing. Will held on to the stone with both hands and took a few deep breaths, and with a cracking voice, screamed while charging along the branch. As he reached the end of the branch, Will leapt as far as he could toward the boar on the ground. He had to time this just right or his plan would fail miserably. Will had figured that his weight wasn't enough to cause any major damage to the boar, and just stabbing it with a stick wouldn't do either. So he devised this plan to use gravity to help him achieve his objective. Just as Will was about to land on the boar's back, he swung the stone down.

*CRACK*

The boar let out a gurgling roar, and stumbled forward in a dizzy manner. All the Goblins looked confused, they had no idea what had happened. Chief however, figured it out almost immediately and charged the boar again. This time the boar didn't resist, it didn't fall down, but it just stood there as if it had received an electric shock. All the Goblins followed suit and crazily stabbed at the boar. It took almost an entire minute before the boar finally fell to the ground dead. Will rolled off the back and onto the ground, he just lied there panting while looking up at the orange sky, the sun was starting to set. The Goblins were ecstatic, and Chief let out a roar. They surround the boar and together lifted it up above their heads, as they started moving back towards the cave, Chief just walked over to Will with a massive grin on his face and picked him up over his shoulder. Will didn't resist, climbing the tree with that huge rock had taken almost everything out of him. He made a note to himself to train harder once they got back. Will laughed to himself as he remembered that Chief used to carry him around like this when he was still little, [That was only 3 weeks ago.] he thought as he dozed off.

Currently there were only three people in the room. Will, Chief and something else. Chief had called it a sow, but it wasn't a pig. Will realized it was female because of the brėȧst and her genitalia was exposed. She had a greenish brown skin color, but was it a female Goblin? She was rather large, Will even estimated that she was bigger than a regular sized human, at least humans from his world since he had never seen a human here before. She was tied up to large boulders in the room, but even if she wasn't it didn't look like she had the strength to struggle. She had small cuts and bruises all over her body, her eyes were glazed over as if she didn't have any consciousness, but she would sometimes let out painful mȯȧns every now and then while she breathed. Will suddenly felt an urge, an instinct. The first Goblin instinct he had besides eating, he wanted to jump whatever it was that was in front of her and mate. However the human part in his mind was aware of

After hearing about the scout, Will knew they had a day, maybe two at most. So he immediately went through all the preparations he had made. For defenses he realized the best option they had was to use the narrow caves to funnel the Orcs, he didn't know how many were going to come, but numbers wouldn't be an issue if they could fight in the tunnels. He also decided to take advantage of the difference in height, he got all the Goblins to help him drive thick and sharp stakes to stick out of the cave walls above Goblin height. That way it would be hard for the Orcs to move around unscathed. Will had also managed to take advantage of the 'Adrenaline Mushrooms', he didn't have any apothecary skills, but he did some experimentation, and inhaling the mushrooms after drying and grinding them to dust made the effect almost instantaneously. So he handed small leather pouches to all the Goblins with the mushroom powder in it. Will knew that inh

The defenses Will had set up, the stakes in the wall, all broke like twigs against the Orcs armor and muscles.[I was so naive, how could I think I had any chance, and it's only one Orc. I thought I could defend against more? How stupid! Goblins are too weak, way too weak!] Will turned back around and picked up his pace, he couldn't be bothered by the Goblins in the cave, most were dead anyway. Will had unconsciously grabbed his severed arm and held it against the open wound, almost as if he was trying to re-attach it. Will stirred back to life as he felt a slight tingling from his left arm, he couldn't move anything, and the wound had clearly not healed, it could even just have been his imagination. However this was enough to motivate him into moving again. In the hours Will had sat there, he had time to process all the intense emotions that surfaced during the morning massacre. After thinking for so long, Will's conclusion had led him to realize that everything that had happened was out of his control. The Goblin group was doomed even before Will was born into this world, and no amount of preparation he could make would have changed that. His only option was to get stronger so nothing like this would happen in the future, or if it did, that at least he would

Will was elated when he saw the dirt road, he suddenly lost all strength in his body as if all the exhaustion from the past month had finally caught up with him. He slid down on the ground for a while, but realized it wasn't completely safe so he got up and dragged his backpack back to the edge of the forest. He set up a small camp behind one of the larger trees so he had cover and started planning his next step. The road stretched from one horizon to the other, it was following the edge of the forest. On the other side of the road, there were only plains as far as the eyes could see. The plan was to head as far south as possible without endangering his life. He figured out that because the days were getting longer and longer as spring turned into summer, so he could safely ȧssume he was pretty far north on this world's hemisphere. So the more south he could get, the easier it would be to survive winter. However if he went too far south, he would encounter more civilization or more wi

The days grew colder and colder as winter approached, but the village just got more livelier. The streets were flooded with workers busy building new shacks and houses. The market street was bustling with new life and new wares. Most people weren't worried about thieves or pickpockets, which made sense considering the size and age of the village. Tighter communities had lower crime rates in general, besides, there was so much to do so there were plenty of jobs for everyone. Will had kept to himself for the most part. Sneaking around without getting noticed or making a sound, not speaking to anyone. If it wasn't for the nun's soothing voice every now and then, Will would probably have gone crazy by now. Even when he was alone in the forest, he couldn't speak to himself in fear of either getting noticed by random humans or scaring off his prey. He had also learned the nun's name was Lina.
