Angela stood on the bus wondering why Susan would spill coffee on her. It was also a cold coffee. She was lost in her thoughts and hence didn't realize she had not arrived at her destination yet. Once the bus stopped, she got down from the bus and started walking down the pavement downcast. She was still thinking about why Susan spilt the coffee on her. Was this going to be like college bullying? After walking for a while, she lifted her head and noticed the strange environment she was in. Angela paused in her steps and turned 360 scanning the environment. It was a lone place. It looked like an abandoned place. The buildings looked dirty. One tall building had huge dustbins lined up on the side. Her gaze fell on a huge rat crawling under the wall close to the huge dustbins. It went behind the dustbin. How did I end up here? This is not the way to Bryce's home. Angela thought as she scanned the environment. She quickly turned around and started heading back to the bus stop using the s
The night slowly passed with Angela falling asleep due to the painkiller given to her which also had some ability to induce sleep. Bryce on the other hand was in his office working on some documents. He looked at the time when he was done and it was ten minutes past the hour 10 p.m. He shut down his laptop and got up from behind his desk. Feeling exhausted, he felt it was time for a cool shower and a sleep. He walked towards his room and slowly pushed the door open. His gaze fell on sleeping Angela and he remembered he had given his room to Angela. He stood at the door staring at her for a while and he exited the room closing the door behind him. He headed for another room in another hallway. He took a shower and changed into something comfortable. He climbed into bed and closed his eyes to sleep. The next morning, Angela woke up to the sound of her alarm. She quickly got ready and found a nice office dress inside the closet. It wasn't one of the clothes she had come with. The dress
"Good morning," Eva greeted them and they both responded to her greeting.Eva looked at Angela up and down before focusing her gaze on the elevator door."Hey, Eva," Bernard greeted. "How are you?" he asked."Good," Eva replied, rolling her eyes at Bernard, who just smiled.Eva and Bernard exited the elevator on the sixth floor and Angela continued to the eighth floor. Angela quickly got to work and after ensuring she had put everything Bryce would need for the morning on his desk, she headed for the ground floor to get something to eat and get Bryce's coffee. As soon as she got to the cafeteria, a lady approached her and roughly pulled her to the side by her arms. She recognized the person as the lady who joined them in the elevator on the fourth floor and she was the same lady who shared an office with Susan."I see how you dressed seductively on your second day. Bernard is my man. So stay clear of him and know your place in this office. If you want to last ten years in this company
"Susan, do you need anything?" Bryce's voice travelled to Susan's eyes and she snapped out of the moment. Her eyes scanned the place and Angela was not there. She shifted her gaze back to Bryce and he was wiping his hand while standing close to the dining table."Erm, Mr President, I didn't know you were in," Susan said and managed a smile. "I brought the hard copy of the report on the new employees," she reported."Good," Bryce acknowledged and returned to his desk while Susan exited the office. As soon as Susan left, Angela returned to the main office from the connecting kitchen and made her way to Bryce's desk after ensuring the dining area was cleaned. Bryce was sitting behind his desk and had resumed his work."Thank you, Mr President," Angela appreciated and Bryce replied with a 'hmm' not bothering to even raised his head to look at him.Angela headed for the door. That was the time Bryce lifted his head and stared at her back briefly before returning his gaze to his laptop. An
Bernard got behind the wheel and headed for his home. Angela on the other hand stood on the bus with her gaze focused on the road. The memory of what happened to her the last time was still fresh in her mind. The bus stopped at the junction heading to the Estate and Angela got down at her junction. She walked towards the gate and was soon heading for the apartment."Welcome home Ms Angela," Josephine greeted Angela as soon as she walked through the front door, and Angela acknowledged."Is Mr Moore home?" Angela inquired."Yes, ma'am. He is inside his office," Josephine replied."Okay," Angela replied and started walking towards the staircase. In her thoughts, she wondered why Mr Moore married her. She is a wife to him but he treats her like a homeless person he found on the street and decided to shelter her. At the office, he behaves like she is just an ordinary employee. How does he feel about her was the only question on Angela's mind. Angela was so lost in her thoughts she did no
"Is your work too little for you?" Bryce threw the question at Angela who instantly became confused. "I don't understand?" Angela replied confused. "You are my secretary, you work on the things I ask you to work on. If you want to impress me do it when working on the things I have assigned to you. Read your contract and don't go outside your responsibilities," Bryce said."I don't understand. I didn't do anything wrong?" Angela defended."Angela, I am not asking for your explanation. I only told you what I hate. Now if you wish to last this company, you will listen. Now leave," Bryce said and Angela felt pained. She frowned and almost stormed out of the office. Bryce could tell she was deeply hurt but he ignored her. "Mr President, this is not right. I thought you were going to make her face the committee, but you let her go with a warning? How will this deter others from doing the same thing? If she signs an undertaken, she would see this is a serious company who does not condone
"My poor little angel, I'm so sorry to hear your day went badly," Mrs Anderson said from the other side of the call. "Now, tell. What happened," she asked.Angela wiped her tears and sniffled before she began to talk. She told Mrs Anderson everything that had transpired in the company including Eva's calls and Bernard bothering her the previous day and in the morning before work."Oh dear, I am so sorry to hear that. I wish there was something I could do to help," Mrs Anderson said in resignation."Mummy, don't worry. I had a choice in all of this. I could have ignored them, and they wouldn't have gotten me, but I got angry. I didn't just get angry, I allowed my anger to take the better part of me. My boss tried to warn me, but I was too angry to listen. Listening to him scold me, I could feel in his voice he did all he could to prevent me from going into such a mess, but I was too stubborn," Angela said, taking the blame."Sweetheart, don't be too hard on yourself. You did have the r
"Do you want to talk about it?" Bryce asked and Angela shook her head. How could she talk about the painful memory of her childhood? It was her 13th birthday and her parents were murdered in her presence. The Anderson adopted her and changed her date of birth to her adoption date but maintained the year. "It's okay," Bryce said and rubbed Angela's back gently as he tried to calm her.He wondered what could have scared her so much to the extent of breaking her down this way. Yes, some nightmares could be scary but her reaction feels more like she lived a reality in her dream. "Get some rest," Bryce said and tucked her into bed when she was much calmer."Please don't leave me," Angela begged when Bryce turned to leave.Bryce stopped in his steps. Angela's voice travelled to his eyes one more time as she pleaded with him not to leave. She sounded so scared. "Okay," he replied and decided to continue whatever he was doing in the office the following day. The room he had given to Ange
Bryce mounted the stage and Martin stood next to him. "Thank you all for coming and I appreciate your commitment to the work we are doing here," Bryce began. "I believe you have all received the results of your appraisal in your emails and know where you stand in your performance," he said. "No one is getting his or her appointment terminated. For those who perform poorly, provision has been made for you to help you become better," he said. "On this note, I would like to introduce the new Deputy HR manager of PEG Industries, in the person of Ms Zora," Bryce said and Zora stood up beaming with smiles. She walked up to the stage smiling and joined Martin and Bryce. She glanced briefly at Martin but his expression was hard and unreadable. He stood there like a guard. She stood next to Bryce and Bryce continued with the introduction."She is going to take you through what the Performance Improvement Programme is all about," Bryce said and moved away from the podium for Zora to take over
Zora stared at the screen with widened eyes, wondering who had posted the news that she had come to work for Diamond Corporation. "Zora, I came here to see you," Elorm said putting his phone away.Zora stared at him with a confused expression and surprise running through her body like shock waves. It's been only a few hours, and she is already in the news. "What is happening?" Zora thought staring at Elorm."Zora, I first want to apologize for how I treated you. I know I was unfair to you. I abandoned you when you needed me the most," Elorm apologized but Zora's mind was still on the news she had just seen. "I left because," Elorm began, paused and lowered his head. "Zora, I am dying," he said snapping Zora's mind out of her thought."What happened?" Zora asked suddenly concerned.Elorm sat down, and Zora sat down next to him, waiting to hear what was wrong with him. She stared at Elorm with concern. Elorm inhaled deeply and picked up a bag lying on the table in front of them. He o
"I will make you pay for ending my father's life," Elorm said under his breath through gritted teeth. The night passed uneventfully and soon it was morning. Martin, Zora and Bryce left the apartment for the company leaving Angela home alone with a few guards and the house servants. On the way to the company, Zora sat next to Martin who was behind the wheel. Bryce was in the back seat of the car working on his tablet. Behind their car was a second car with four guards occupying it. They arrived at Diamond Corporation and Zora stared at the gigantic building from the window as they drove in."Wow!" she exclaimed in awe and Martin smiled. The cars drove into the garage and parked. Martin got out of the car and opened the door for Bryce. and grabbed Bryce's laptop bag. Bryce stepped out and Zora also got out of the car admiring the environment."This way," Martin said to Zora realizing she was still admiring the environment while Bryce was walking towards the elevator. "Yes, sure," Zora
"Hello Angela, hope you are doing well. Please, help me speak with Zora. I don't have much time left," Elorm said sounding very sad and creating an impression of dying. "What do you mean?" Angela asked annoyed because she was still sleeping when her phone began to ring pulling her out of her sleep."I just want to make peace with Zora before I leave," Elorm said and coughed violently holding the phone a distance away from himself.Back at Bryce's place, Angela's eyes widened hearing the cough even though it sounded like it was away from the phone."Elorm, what is wrong with you?" Angela asked but just then Zora walked in and heard Angela calling Elorm's name."Is that Elorm that I know?" Zora asked holding a cup of tea while rooted to the entrance with the door opened."Errr, yeah," Angela replied."I am sorry," Angela heard Elorm say but Zora left the room."I am sorry, Zora just left. She is too angry to speak with you," Angela said to Elorm. "I understand. Just tell her, it was n
Angela's phone rang and the name that flashed on the screen was Elorm. She looked at it and frowned. She knew who Elorm was, but why was he calling her? "Who is it?" Bryce asked, seeing Angela's smile turn into a frown."Zora's friend. He is called Elorm. They were very close but he suddenly abandoned her," Angela replied staring at her phone. By the time she decided to answer and find out what he wanted, the call dropped. She was about to put the phone back down under the watchful gaze of Bryce when it started ringing again. She quickly pressed the answer button with her thumb and raised the phone to her ears."Hello?" Angela said, and Bryce stared at her, waiting to know why Zora's friend had called Angela instead of Zora."Hello Angela, it's me Elorm," Elorm introduced."I know," Angela replied sounding a but unwelcoming."I know you and Zora might be mad at me right now for abandoning Zora. I didn't do it deliberately. My life was threatened," Elorm explained."You know I am not
Inside Bryce's study, Bryce sat behind his desk, and Angela sat on the couch. They both patiently waited for Martin to understand what they had just found. "Do you think we should be worried about this, given the recent events?" Angela asked, breaking the silence between them."All those who want to harm us are in prison now. There is no way they could bother us from there," Bryce said to calm her down. "I am sure is nothing. Let's just wait for Martin to confirm if all the bulbs in the house have that," he added. But Bryce gave Angela's concern a thought. Matilda, George, Susan and Devon, they are in prison, not dead. The chief of police who was equally involved in this whole thing is still walking free. He was very instrumental in the arrest of Devon but that doesn't mean he may not come after them. Even though this chief of police may have no reason to, it doesn't mean if contracted he would not. If he had received money to support evil before what prevents him from doing so again
Martin withdrew from the hug with his eyes still fixated on the lightbulb. Zora naturally started looking up at the ceiling wondering what Martin was looking at with a frown on his face."What is it?" Zora asked, seeing Martin had stood up and walked away from the bed, still staring at the ceiling. Martin, what are you looking at?" she asked, alternating her gaze between silent Martin and the ceiling. "Please get me the chair?" Martin said and Zora just obeyed. She pulled the chair from behind the desk in her room and brought it to Martin. Martin was now standing in the middle of the room still staring at the bulb. Zora watched him climb onto the chair and reach for the lightbulb. Zora stood there and watched Martin remove the lightbulb from its holder. She also noticed the strange black thing inside the lightbulb and frowned.Once Martin had gotten down from the chair and stared at the lightbulb in his hand, Zora asked, "What is that?""I am not sure," Martin said, examining the bul
Back at Bryce's new place, Martin and Zora remained on the balcony of Zora's bedroom enjoying the beautiful view of the city. "Thank you," Martin said breaking the silence between them. His large hand fondly rubbed Zora's flat belly while they enjoyed the view together. Zora rested her back on Martin's firm chest which she could feel through his shirt. She also enjoyed the pleasure of his hand while resting her hand on his. She leaned to her right and turned her head to stare at Martin after hearing him thank her."Why are you thanking me?" Zora asked with a smile.Martin planted a kiss on her lips before replying to her question."If you had not taken the bold step of kissing me out of the blue, I would have concealed my feelings for you and never even spoken a word about it," Martin said, and Zora turned to face him fully while leaning on the balcony railing."Wait, what?" Zora said puzzled and giggled."You are my boss's wife's friend. I am just a simple loyal guard to him. Pursui
The next day, as announced, Bryce, Angela, Zora and Martin left the two-bedroom apartment for their new apartment. Bryce had purchased a mansion not far away from the company. It was a building with a rooftop relaxation view, two floors, a garage and a basement. Martin rented Bryce's old home inside the estate to a new couple and paid all the workers and guards sending them away. They were still going to manage the estate, but Bryce wanted to be close to the company. For the new apartment, he interviewed a new set of servants and guards. He wanted a clean start. The servants helped move the luggage to the various rooms. The guards and servants occupied the first floor and Bryce and his family were on the second floor. There was a gym inside the mansion and the second floor had six bedrooms. Each with its toilet and bath. The living room was very big and neatly decorated. There was a balcony and from the balcony, you can go to the rooftop. All the six bedrooms were above the living roo
