66: Awkwardness

I was grateful for Jaya’s interruption, even if I’d felt like dying the moment it happened.

But after giving myself time to think about it, I’ve come to realize it was for the best. Because she saved me from making a mistake I would certainly regret.

Things have been awkward between us. I guess I would feel that way too if I saw someone in a very compromising position with my brother.

We tried to walk all over it and pretend it didn’t happen. But it is always there, hovering over us like a giant cloud.

Jaya informed me of a formal family dinner they were having. She said Lucian was going to introduce me officially to the family, as his wife.

I didn’t understand why it was so important that he did that, but she said it was tradition. And I didn’t have it in me to argue. Plus, I get to wear a cute gown and get my hair and nails done.

She told me of a really nice salon and spa not far from their town. She thought it would be nice to have a girl’s day out.

I agreed with her. Though
