Unexpected Future

“So, you want to join this company?” the lady asked me after verifying my file.

“Yes!” I replied, keeping the smile intact.

“The CEO will be coming to this head office and settled here. So, the work will be very heavy in the beginning. Are you fine with it?” she asked and I nodded point to be noted still smiling.

Are you kidding me? I will nod even if I will be asked whether I will be fine to walk on hot coal.

“You worked in a small company before this and the work will be nowhere near to that. Timings and all will be hectic.” She added.

I am seriously getting a doubt whether she wants me or anyone to join or not. Because she is hell bent on scaring me for sure, but I rewinded about how I enjoyed my ice cream before coming here to not let the terror appear on my face.

“You are selected.” She said and my smile widened before leaving the cabin only to should at the top of my lungs ‘Yes!’.

“Yes! Yes! Yes!” I screamed and opened my eyes to see a pair of eyes glaring at me.

“Maha! When will you stop this? It’s been one week you got selected and from that day you are torturing us with this shouting every morning.” She said folding her hands.

“Mom! I am just getting everything as dream everyday.” I mumbled giving an apologetic look but she sighed.

“There is still three weeks before you join. Will we be tortured all that time?” she asked, moving to gather the pillows I threw down in my dream excitement.

“Swathi changed her room too, because of you.” She added.

“I am not doing it consciously.” I mumbled, looking down and felt her press a kiss to my forehead.

“I know, dear! You need to think about others, right?” she asked and I smiled.

“I Know that! That’s why I got into a deal with her to clean her car every day.” I replied and she sighed.

“Sathish was asking me whether you got a proposal or something and shouting the reply for it.” She said and laughed at my horror expression.

“Ask him to get Swathi Di married. She is twenty five while I am just twenty two little girl.” I said getting down from the bed.

“Little girl?” she asked, to which I shrugged and started pulling out a dress to get ready for the day.

“Today I prepared your favorite breakfast.” She said while I started brushing my teeth.

“I know, Mom! Yesterday you prepared Di’s. So, today it will be mine.” I said shaking my head.

“I just thought you may not have any sense of anything else except your job.” She said shrugging with a smile.

“Mom! Even if I lose my senses, then it is fine. I got a job in SGI like the SGI. By this I can show that I am capable of something because it is in a higher position than Father’s.” I said grinning and her smile slipped.

“Maha!” she mumbled, but I shook my head, smiling and walked inside the washroom.

I walked out of my room after getting ready and looked around seeing no one present, then I calmly climbed down the stairs with a normal expression.

“Good morning!” I greeted the two people sitting at the dining table and sat myself down at my usual place.

“Good morning!” they both greeted back and turned the page of the papers they are reading.

“It’s so oily!” I heard a complaining voice while I was happily placing two parathas on my plate.

“I prepared separately for you, Swathi.” Mom said, placing her oil free parathas which I don’t feel any need for to eat.

Well, it takes away the whole essence right? I shrugged to myself mentally and started munching on my breakfast.

However, I paused, seeing both Father and Di whispering between themselves with a serious expression.

I glanced at Mom before giving her a questioning look, to which she shrugged and I sighed before concentrating on my breakfast.

“Maha! We are going for shopping.” Di suddenly stated and I stared at her feeling shock.

“Why?” I asked her frowning.

“To shop!” she replied, rolling her eyes.

“Me?” I asked and she sighed before finally looking at me.

“You are going to start your work soon and you can’t wear these type of clothes anymore. And who knows that better than me? I will take you to the mall and will choose the ones which would be appropriate for your job.” She replied, smiling and I smiled back at her before turning towards Mom who is smiling at me.

“Okay!” I said happily knowing being a fashion designer, she knows what is best and she nodded with a satisfied look.

“Di! How is work going?” I asked her in a normal tone, trying my best to keep the excitement away from my expression and voice.

“Call me Swathi or better yet Sweety, Maha! How many times do I have to tell you?” she asked frowning.

“Okay!” I replied, but I know I will never stop it.

She parked the car and looked around, but the slowly started walking towards the entrance while I followed her.

I glanced around and saw the small café which is known for best coffee’s in the morning and it is always in rush from this time itself.

“Shall we have some coffee?” I asked her, but she was lost in her thoughts.

“We will see!” she finally replied and I frowned, but shrugged to myself hoping this shopping will start soon so that it can finish soon.

We just walked inside, but then we heard a few shouts and then Di got a call. She talked in a muffled voice and then suddenly looked at me.

“We should see what that commotion is.” Saying that she walked out of the mall and I followed her frowning.

I gasped, looking at the way five people were attacking two men and then scrambled off when the crowd appeared.

I stared at them with wide eyes, seeing that one of them got very injured and rushed near to him while Di moved near another one who got a small wound on his knuckles as far as I can see, unlike the person I reached near to.

“Don’t move!” I said, tearing the cloth from my dupatta and started tying it to his shoulder where blood is gushing and then tore another one before tying it on his hand.

“Pass me a piece if you are tearing it that much.” Di’s voice reached and I immediately passed it to her, but then saw the person she is tending has his eyes closed.

That much for a wound on knuckles? I thought and turned my concentration on the person before me to see him, placing a hand on his ribs.

“You should be careful while fighting.” I said, frowning at him and he frowned back.

“We get hurt while fighting.” He pointed out.

“He too fought, but he got a very little wound.” I pointed back.

“Oh! How hurtful it must be for you?” we heard Di’s voice to see her wincing while covering his knuckles.

“He shouldn’t have gotten even that small one. I was supposed to protect him as it is my job.” The man before me said with a blank face.

“Well, do you job, but not on the expense of your life. I am sure he is not paying you to get hurt.” I said, standing up and helped him to stand up as he is wincing.

“Then I am glad I am not your bodyguard because I don’t know how to do a job without getting hurt.” He said shrugging and I smiled looking down feeling embarrassed for scolding a stranger.

I glanced to my left to see Di talking to that person and helped him to stand up too and I was like really ‘Is it real?’.

“We are Sathish Guptha’s daughters.” Di announced and the man winced before glancing at us, making me have a look at him.

He is definitely handsome, but so is the man beside me, but whatever thoughts left when he glanced at the person beside me with a blank look and got a shrug in return. What was that?

*Nakul Pov*

“James! Just sit down, man. No one is going to come and attack me while I am having this coffee.” I said in the end it sounded as an order even though I didn’t wish for it while he sighed before occupying the chair before me.

“Who asked you to come here every day making it a regular schedule?” he asked frowning and glanced around.

“Who doesn’t want to? I am bored with the black coffee and I like this.” I replied shrugging.

“You could get it ordered.” He pointed out and I sighed.

“Just drink your coffee!” I ordered again and he picked the cup, but out of nowhere we both got attacked.

We both tried to block as much as we can and James tried his best along with trying to give signal to the security team.

However, within a few minutes they rushed off and I turned to my right to see other security members reaching us.

Just then I turned to my left only to freeze in my spot looking at the beautiful girl. I don’t know how I broke my gaze from hers myself and closed my eyes feeling pain.

Then I opened them again to see her, wrapping the wound with a cloth in her hands and I know right then that I fell in love with her after hearing her sweet voice along with her sweet words. The way her eyes lowered and the way she smiled. Have I gone crazy? I thought, grinning like an idiot, but winced, feeling the pain again. However, the smile didn’t leave my face.

“Hello! We are Sathish Guptha’s daughters.” Hearing the words made my smile slip away from my face in an instant.

Great! Just great! I thought with complete sarcasm and glanced at James to see him shrugging like he didn’t see that coming. Well, who would? I asked myself in my head.
