When Rem had told me we would drive to London and be not taking the bus or train, I couldn’t contain my excitement to learn something new about him. I did not know Rem had a driver’s licence, nor that he had his own car. Sure, the car was actually for Hunter work, but that didn’t matter to me. I was just happy to know it would be just me and Rem together. No strangers.
Not to mention with the ability to drive, this meant we could cover more ground quicker than waiting on public transport. However, I also couldn’t help but wonder at all the places we could go together on dates.
“This is for Hunter work only,” Rem muttered aside to me, though kept his attention on the road ahead. “Not to be used for pleasure…” he continued, having heard my thoughts through the mind-link.
I stuck my tongue out at him playfully before going back to looking over the inside of the car and all the gadgets it
If the home of Rem’s grandmother was a mansion, the home of Rem’s parents was a palace! It sat on the city's outskirts, and a tall protective fence surrounded the entire area surrounding it! We were let in easily enough as Rem’s car had the controls for the gates. Once inside, we were greeted by many butlers and maids. They seemed to offer Rem all the respect in the world as they offered their bows and curtseys upon greeting him.Without blinking an eye, Rem continued on his way until he got to the oldest of the butlers. “Seb, are my parents’ home?” He questioned.“No, sir, though your mother is due to return within the hour,” the man named Seb replied. He had greying black hair that was brushed back neatly and a pair of smart spectacles. He wore a smart suit and held himself in a rather formal position. From the surrounding smells, I could tell that none of these people was a Hunter. They di
It had been about half an hour since we had arrived here and had researched the local supernatural populace. Seb had come with the required tea and biscuits and had left again just as quickly. Rem was in full work mode and I was happily helping him. That was when I heard the quick click-clack sound of heels on wooden flooring. Someone, a woman, was racing in our direction. I heard her before Rem was even aware she had entered the library. I looked up towards the open doorway of the hidden room and waited. “What’s wrong?” Rem asked though he didn’t take his eyes off of the notes he was going over. However, before I could say anything at all, the high-pitched squealing of a woman echoed out into the library. “Rath!” Rem flinched. I blinked as a tall woman in heels almost skidded around the corner and peered right at me. She had long blonde hair, which fell in natural twirls. Her eyes were that wonderful bright blue, which
By the time we had finished gathering as much data as we could, the click-clack of Heather’s shoes was heard once more, though this time they were accompanied by a heavier set of leather shoes tapping the ground. I could hear several voices, though they remained near the entrance of the library somewhere. I could smell them, Hunters. One, in particular, held my attention. The one following Heather. As the two turned the corner, his hard gaze fell on me. His eyes were more of a grey and his hair was a salt and pepper nature that was brushed back into a tidy bun. I could tell he was unhappy with me being here, but one glance from Rem, the man easily backed down from his nature to deal with a werewolf in his home. He remained unhappy, however. “Father,” Rem greeted the man with the same cold indifference as he gathered the notes and stood up from the table. He held out his hand towards me and I added my pile to his. He then
The drive further into the city was quiet. I had finally explained in full to Rem who I was going to talk with. At first, he hadn’t really comprehended that there was a large group of Ancient Ones camping out in St. Paul’s Cathedral, but the more I spoke of their looks and manner of speaking, the more aware he was that I was telling the truth. He was silently trying to figure out what family they belonged to, but I had stumped him. He knew of Rakesh and his sister, but that was it. Even I didn’t know who or what they were when I first ran into them, but after I had fully awakened, the memories had flooded back. Rem had no such luck in gaining any memories from the spirit that had been reborn inside of him. “I didn’t keep it from you for any poor reasons,” I said, trying to break the silence. I wanted him to know that I had really wanted to explain things sooner. The truth was, I just didn’t know how to go about it without him being furious with
I realised my request for aid had surprised the Ancient Ones, not because werewolves were fighting, they were used to that, but that I had mated with a Hunter and was now working together with one for peace. They seemed unsure, but I had somehow convinced them to at least meet Rem without fear for their safety. I may have been a spirit, something they respected, but they were not beholden to follow my orders. Sending out the word to Rem through the mindlink, I waited for him to arrive. He seemed as unsure and nervous as the group before him. I offered out my hand for him to take, giving him my support emotionally and physically. He took my hand sheepishly. He was nervous about showing affection openly in front of other supernatural beings but was more anxious about being in front of such a large group that could easily kill us both. For a moment, there was a deafening silence between him and the Ancient Ones. Finally, the elder spoke, “
A full day had passed by the time the Hunters had returned with the information we needed to progress our search for those who were still living in or around the London area. A few werewolf families had moved to safer locations, but one or two remained, and I hoped we could convince them to join me. As for other supernatural beings, many of them remained in the city, as the Hunters had deemed them safe enough to remain. I was glad that the information would be more than enough to help the Ancient Ones find these beings and convince them to join our cause. I reached out with my mind and relayed the locations to them. With most of my memories returning and knowing that they had kept their minds open to me, it wasn’t a hard task. With how many of them helping us there were, I knew this would not take long at all. Rem and the Hunters of London had gone to do their own recruiting. However, convincing humans to help wasn’t always easy. Those who were
It is amazing what asking a group of Ancient Ones to help can do for a person in just one day. I had stuck around with Rem in London despite the rest of the Hunters journeying to Cardiff in the morning. I had wanted to make sure they did not need me to meet with some groups that we had confirmation on. Thankfully, a majority of the groups had expressed a willingness to come back with us, if it meant the Hunters would relax on their rules so much. I knew asking the Ancient Ones to help was the right idea. Everyone respected them, as they were almost like gods to other supernatural beings. Sure, I was the Star, but not everyone knew of that legend or understood the importance of spirits and their effect on the world. Many didn’t even know they existed to begin with, so I decided it was far better to send the group that they revered more than me. I didn’t mind not getting all the attention, anyway. “So,” Rem said as he slipped up beside me as we m
It took a solid moment for Dave to stop freaking out about Rem having a werewolf boyfriend. I wasn’t sure if he would ever stop trying to lecture Rem about it all. Luckily, the shop was rather quiet, so no one could hear him ranting and raving about werewolves and their annoying attempts at trying to force their will on others. Rem rolled his eyes as Dave tried to re-start the argument all over and moved to grab the shop floor keys from behind the desk. He seemed to make himself right at home in Dave’s shop. He locked the door and then tossed the key back over to Dave, who caught it with no issue. “Are you even listening to my complaints here, Rath!?” Dave called over to Rem as I just stood there like an idiot as I watched my lover and this short, stocky little man with fiery red hair and a bushy beard argue back and forth. “Not even a little,” Rem replied with an indifferent tone of voice. He then moved over to my side and pointed towa
My gaze never shifted away from Arwen as he looked down at me still, the silence deafening. Nothing seemed to happen, and I wondered if maybe I had simply misunderstood what he was implying. The ground had since stopped shaking and the souls had all returned at the Gods’ demands. Taking in a sharp breath, I helped Rem stand up again, but my thoughts did not wane. I kept thinking over what Arwen had said to me. The God seemed to at least have the patience to allow me to do that much, but I knew it wouldn’t last long. Anxiously, I finally dared to look back at Arwen. His arms were folded across his chest, as though he was dealing with a schoolroom full of children. Despite who and what I was, he was still far older than I, by many centuries. Many cultures had their own version of Death, but most of them stemmed from the same legends spread over the world, twisted into their own versions. “What… sort of price?” I finally asked, unknowing i
Thousands upon thousands of eyes stared down at me from the black hole atop the shrine. Even with all of my focus set upon my attempts to hold the ritual back, the opening to Annwn was growing larger. The ground was shaking more, to where small pieces of the ceiling were clattering down on the ground below. Whatever glow I once had was practically gone now, and I knew without a shadow of a doubt that was a bad sign.I was feeling drained and knew it wouldn’t be long now before my attempts failed completely. I relayed the news to the three behind me swiftly as the black hole expanded again. There would be nothing I could do to hold the souls back, but with luck, I might still find the strength to stop the ritual from completing fully.Or so I had hoped.A large earthquake rocked the area, causing the four of us to stumble. I couldn’t keep my balance long enough to refocus and the result was disastrous. Souls quickly started pour
The four of us turned our full attention to the shrine ahead of us. Although the tension between Rem and Rakesh hadn’t subsided, they both put aside their personal feelings of the other to deal with the issue at hand. I wasn’t sure how the other two were handling everything, but it relieved me to not have to stress over the issue just yet.The shrine was old, hand-carved from marble stone. Etchings had been carved into it, but it had been worn from time and was harder to see what it had originally been. I suspected it was more of the same markings that had been on the doors and entrance to this place. They had placed the candles in a horseshoe shape on the surface of the marble. Within them was some burning sage.Although these items were important for most rituals, I could tell right away that even if we put out the candles or stopped the burning of the sage, it still wouldn’t stop the summoning.Kayden looked towards Ra
Finding the entrance wasn’t too difficult, as it was where the Alpha had said it would be. Finding the new entrance, it was obvious that the digging of paws had made it. Therefore, it would require the two of us to crawl to get inside. I led the way, with Rem following close behind me.Despite the trouble that lay ahead of us, Rem couldn’t help but interject with, “at least I get a lovely view one last time.”I couldn’t look back at him, but I rolled my eyes. “Really, Rem?” I chided him for his childishness. Though in truth, I was glad that Rem hadn’t lost his quirky little sense of humour. “When this is all over, we can admire each other as much as we want. Promise,” I then added, a little quieter. I had hoped that after this war, we could finally find peace. Now I wasn’t so sure.Fighting mortals was one thing, but fighting what was essentially a God was something else ent
Once more, I take my human form. It seems to surprise the Alpha to find me bandaging his wounds. I hope that if we can convince him to no longer seek revenge, then he might turn into a more reasonable werewolf now that he no longer can be the fighter he once was. If we can salvage him and the others, then perhaps we can finally be at peace and no one else has to go to war on the other. Though with the loss of his mate, I wasn’t sure how the Alpha would react. At worse he would continue to seek revenge and at best; he might get locked up for the rest of his life under the Hunter’s care. “Why don’t you transform back now? It’ll be easier to patch you up,” I say to him, keeping my words firm but gentle. Ken doesn’t seem pleased with how kind I’m being to the Alpha, but after he has put silver cuffs on the Alpha to keep him weak as a precaution, he seems much more amicable to leave my side. I don’t even have to ask where he is going.
The pleasant late morning summer sun heated my fur and made me feel rather warm. It would have been an enjoyable morning had my mind not been full of adrenaline of what had taken place and was still going on even now. All around me, people were busying themselves with helping bandage the wounded. I, however, had no time to help. The Alpha had issued me a challenge, one that I could not really back out of.The two of us circled one another, each of us sizing the other up, but not yet ready to strike first. I was well aware of the Alpha’s skill and although he no longer knew the full extent of my own abilities; he was fully aware of who and what I was. He knew I was no longer the same half-blood he had easily overpowered in a fight before and was now much warier about what damage I could do to him.To make this a fair fight, I had removed the werewolf weapon that Rem had gone to the trouble of getting for me.Staying near me to monitor
It feels like it has been forever since this whole thing started, even though it hadn’t been that long since Rem and I had met and become mates. I had hoped life would have been simple, enjoying life blissfully, but life had other plans for me and Rem and life had sent this Alpha to shake up our two worlds. Now it had all boiled down to this.Looking around the new battlefield, it seemed with the few Ancient Ones having followed and helped with the fight to protect those who could not defend themselves; we had brought down all the Alpha’s pack members. The Alpha was the only one left still able to fight. I stood in front of the others, my tail held up in a challenging display towards him. I was sure that Ken would want to kill him, but I knew that if we allowed him to do that, nothing much would change. The survivors of the Alpha’s pack and allies would merely seek revenge and call our own pack and allies traitors.No. If I want
I can feel the gravel shifting under my paws as Rem and I run toward our family. The Hunters are trying their hardest to fend off the Alpha and his pack members, but the enemy outnumbers them. It was strange that this pack would be out this way, as it was nowhere near the direction of the mansion nor the field in which their allies had camped out. Rem doesn’t seem to know the answer to why they would be here either, other than they knew about the exit, but that doesn’t seem too likely. The Ancient Ones following behind us also confirmed that this pack’s thoughts were of a surprise to find the Hunters and werewolves here. So it put the thought that they had known about our plans aside completely now. It was a strange coincidence, and it made me wonder what the real reason was for. What was out this way that would interest this pack, if not the hidden exits for the Hunters? As we grew
I could no longer smell anything other than the blood that had scattered over the surrounding fields. I was breathless from the constant fighting, but far fewer enemy werewolves were now trying to fight back. We had lost a few of our own but compared to them, we had made it out rather well. I felt sorry for those here. None of them had really started this entire war, but all of them had paid some kind of price. Meanwhile, their so-called leaders were still nowhere to be found. With a slight limp, I made my way across the field to where I could find Rem. He had seemed to fair much better than most of us in this fight, but I wasn’t really all that surprised by it. He was a powerful fighter and smart enough to manoeuvre a battlefield. My memories might have returned to me, but I was never a fighter, not even in my previous lives. He smiled down at me and offered my head a few loving scratches behind the ear, which set my tail into a frenzy of
