Chapter 4: Beauty Covers Filth
UNLUCKY! She is just too unlucky in the morning! The school has so many students, why did she have to bump into someone from the Au Elites so early?
In the end, just after she took a bath in their house, she took another one in the school. However, this time, she was bathed with orange sticky juice and not water—which resulted in the students’ ridiculing laughter.
Unfortunately, after she changed her uniform, her first class was already starting. She was late so her teacher didn’t let her enter anymore. Because of that, she missed her first class.
The young lady sighed exasperatedly as she put her backpack in front and then hugged it with a frowning expression.
Why did she have to be such a weakling?
Right now, she is currently at the rooftop, again, while sitting on the ground without minding the dirt anymore. She is pondering and letting herself get lost in her own thoughts.
"What's with that early grumpy face?"
The young lady almost jumped in shock after hearing the same familiar voice of the mysterious guy who was with her a few days ago before he suddenly disappeared.
Should she tell him? Or should she not? She was hesitant. What if this guy was just someone sent from the Au Elites to spy on her so that they could make her miserable school life even worse?
"You don't have to tell me if you're that doubtful. I don't care," the guy said in a defensive tone before he suddenly used her lap again as his pillow.
She didn’t even notice that her bag was already gone on her thighs while the hands that were hugging the bag were already covering the eyes of the mysterious guy—blocking them against the sunray.
Like their first meeting, it felt as if she didn’t know things again. It was like she had no consciousness about the things that the mysterious guy does and only discovered it whenever it was already done. However, this time, there is no jacket to at least separate the dirt from the ground to their uniforms.
Speaking of the jacket, she was still hesitating whether she should give back Liev's jacket or keep it with her forever. She wanted to keep it as a souvenir since she knew how far that star was from the land where she is currently at. There would be no chance for that thing to happen again so she is really contemplating hard.
Well, it wouldn't kill her if she said something to the mysterious guy, right?
No one is allowed to kill in their school so the mysterious guy wouldn’t definitely kill her although they are alone right now. Though maybe, the guy would laugh at her for being pathetic and weak. Looking at the good side, she guessed this would still have a positive outcome. At least she would take off some load in her heart by telling it to others, right?
"Uhm... How can I start this?” Crostelia scratched her head awkwardly. Then, she cleared her throat before lowering her gaze.
“It’s just annoying that I’m so weak. It’s irritating to always be the weakest one. You know, ever since I studied in this school, I have become the bullies' apple of the eye and it just… Sucks. I hate it. I'm an enchanter but I can only chant weak healing spells that most of the time take all of my strength and consciousness. For an enchanter, I’m so weak. You know that enchanters were supposed to be strong, right?" the young lady said while her eyes are still focused on the ground.
After that, silence dominated their place and the girl’s eyes started to wander—reason why she had the chance to intently stare at the black pair of eyes of the mysterious guy and the white hair strands that reached his thick, black eyebrows that are slowly coming out of the black cloth that is covering most of his body.
Soon, she heard the man click his tongue while his eyes darted to the sky. His big hands that are also wrapped with a black cloth stretched out, as if he was reaching for the sky.
"Then study. I'm sure there are a lot of books in the library about enchanting. Train yourself, too. Having a weak body is equivalent to having a weak power. You can start with meditation. There were no enchanter mages that were born strong. There were no visioner mages that were born strong either. There were no bearer mages who were like that as well. Everyone had that weak pace in their lives before they transformed to the stronger version of themselves," he said before he leaned the back of his head on her stomach.
A bittersweet smile escaped from the young lady’s lips before she raised her head as she looked at the sky.
"If my physical body isn't strong, that'll just go to waste, you know?"
"Train. No complaints. I won’t accept your reasoning. Go here by the end of the school hours, I'll send someone to train you or you'd just see me here alone—that means I'll be the one to train you. You'll start next week. After class, you should be already here. For now, meditate and absorb more mana. Remember, magic has no boundaries and mana is limitless because our world is blessed with it. Even if your mana capacity is small, you can always make that wider so don’t be discouraged by a few failures," the guy said in a serious manner before he stood up and started to walk away.
Crostelia fell silent. What? What did he just say? She would train? He would train her? He would send someone else to train her if he couldn’t? Is he serious? The long helpless and hopeless, weak person like her would be able to learn magic!?
She sighed. She just hoped that what he said was true and the person that would teach her would have a very long patience as she is always like a turtle whenever she is doing something connected to magic.
The build of the mysterious guy was already becoming small when the girl came back to her senses. She exhaled heavily before she started shouting so loud to make sure that her message would reach him.
"Thank you very much!"
The guy, who was casually walking, suddenly stopped in his place before raising his right hand and turning his head a little in her direction.
She smiled happily as a response to his wave although she wasn’t certain if he ever saw it because of their wide distance.
The guy returned his look forward as he gradually brought down his hand and casually placed it inside his slacks’ pocket.
When he totally disappeared from her sight, that was when she realized that her next class was already coming. Then, she quickly fixed herself as she hurriedly carried her bag on her left shoulder before running down the rooftop.
This is one of the crucial times she just really hopes that she really knows magic. At least if she knew, she wouldn’t have to get tired by running for being late again. If she knew, she could just use a magic that could speed her up, teleport her or make her fly until she reaches her classroom without sweating.
Hah! It sucks to be weak.
SHE WAS not late to her next class. However, while they were busy on a certain topic, her mind was flying around the thing that happened at the rooftop. All those things that the mysterious guy said kept on repeating in her head that she lost focus in class. Because of that, none of the teacher’s lessons came into her mind. Though, she was thankful that she wasn’t called out to answer the questions during the discussion because she would probably make fun of herself again by not knowing the right response.
Right now, she is busy lining up in the cafeteria to order a lot of food for her lunch since her stomach has long been hungry since the first subject. The pleasant smell of food being cooked as soon as she entered the place was not helping and making her stomach make louder embarrassing growls—as if a beast was inside it. The smell of hot newly served dishes and appetizers, and the freshly baked desserts are so aromatic that she could feel her mouth salivating.
It is really a good thing that their school is the one providing their students’ meals since she would definitely not have enough money to buy anything if that wasn’t the case.
When it was her turn, she was about to speak when she got immediately interrupted by the people behind her.
“One strawberry parfait and a cheesecake, please.”
“One blueberry cheesecake for me and an ice tea.”
Just hearing their familiar voices made her heart tremble in fear. Just feeling their presence made her want to run away and hide in her house. Just being near them always brought her mixed emotions that are certainly not good. Fear and angst are always her dominant emotions whenever they are around. However, whenever those emotions get totally extreme, she would always end up feeling weak and unwell.
The young lady was awoken and sent back to reality after feeling the cold, sticky liquid that is flowing from her head, down to her body. She gasped and unintentionally looked back to where the two women were standing.
"How dare you block our way, scholar?" A familiar woman said with an arched eyebrow.
That person was none other than Willowy MacQuoid, the sister of Liev who is currently sixteen-year-old and ranked as the seventh most powerful person in their school.
One word that Crostelia could use to describe the girl, scary. She is younger than her but she is one of the most frightening people in the school who loves making her life miserable.
"Excuse me, can you please get out of our way?" the other woman said with a sweet smile before her eyes suddenly sent Crostelia a quick sharp glare.
The woman was none other than Emily Carter, the best friend of Willowy, who is also currently sixteen years old. She is also one of the members of Au Elites as her family is seated on the seventh seat. She is considered as the current ninth strongest person in the whole university.
One word that Crostelia used to describe the girl, fake. She was always smiling beautifully at her in the past, approaching her, talking to her like a friend while she was being bullied as if she would never do anything wrong like a priest in a church or a saint without a sin—just like how they describe her. But who knew that Crostelia would be bullied a lot worse just because of that woman’s greed? Things turned the other way around in Crostelia’s life because of Willowy’s act. Willowy was famous to the boys because of her innocent look as if some doll who could do nothing but to be dressed up cutely and act nice that her followers would do anything she would say even if she would tell them to die for her. That was why when Crostelia appeared, their attention got divided and the latter didn’t like that. Willowy wanted everything for herself. She doesn’t want a half—she wants all of their attention focused solely on her.
"S-Sorry," Crostelia said while lowering her head before she took a step back.
However, it was a wrong choice as just after she took a step, she immediately fell out of balance because of the wet floor and slammed her butt on the floor.
She wasn’t shocked anymore if loud laughter would fill the cafeteria at that time since she just made a scene again. But she was shocked as things didn’t happen the way she expected it to. Why? What happened? How come everyone is silent? How come no one is laughing at her pathetic accident?
When she raised her chin, she immediately knew the reason why.
In front of her standing is the third prince of the school after all, Liev MacQuoid, offering his right hand to her.
Her eyes widened in shock. Is she freaking dreaming!?
Chapter 5: A Sorry Won’t Heal the Scars AU ELITES, a group that consists of the ten richest and most powerful families in the whole Stoneheart Kingdom. The ten families are the ones sponsoring scholarships to everyone who wanted to study, especially magic, but couldn’t enroll in any school because of financial problems. That is also the reason why never in her life she thought of fighting back or revenging even after everything that the bullies, especially the student council members, did to her. Although she is not capable, at least she never thought of harming them because of her gratefulness. Thinking that way makes her feel like an ingrate. However, this scene is quite unexpected. Why is the school's third prince extending his hand and offering it as if he is ready to support her to stand? What the heck is happening? Crostelia was dumbfounded and stared at the hand that was re
Chapter 6: So, What Happened at the Library? AND SO, she did. She went to the school's library to kill her free time and study spells at the same time. Since both her physical body and magic are still weak, she chose to read some basic books that are available at the library instead of wasting time. Though she doubted it if she could actually perform any of those in person since she simply… Sucks. She shook her head as she slapped her cheeks. “I shouldn’t be thinking like this!” she said to herself.
Chapter 7: Finders Keepers DAYS passed by quickly after the library incident that Crostelia encountered. Up until now she still has no idea about what happened to her nor about the book that the librarian told her to keep. She didn’t want to but she still kept in the end although she was hesitating as the librarian wouldn’t let her to put it back on the bookshelf anymore where it only got covered with dust while guilt tripping her that once she put it back, the book will end up being unnoticed while gathering more dust. Because of being too kind, she brought it back home with her and put it in a cabinet inside her room. During those remaining days, she used her time diligently in studying some magic spells that she could use one day. In those times too, she knew she was being followed by the twins and Liev. They were strong, yes. But the way they tried to tail her was just so poor that wherever
Chapter 8: Where is Her Seat?!MONDAY came and Crostelia was so nervous that she could hardly sleep the night before. After that hell-like experience she suffered at the hallway near the cafeteria, she found herself inside their house, unscathed inside her room while laying on her bed as if she just woke up.How did she end up coming home when her last memory was losing her consciousness on the ground while experiencing a different intensity of pain inside her heart? Everything felt so real, her pain, her agony, her tears, and her despair. However, because of what she had witnessed right after opening her eyes; the walls of her room, her bed, the curtains, she thought that maybe she was just dreaming. Because of that, she disregarded the painful incident and thought of it as a nightmare that doesn’t need to be remembered.Aside from th
Chapter 9: It’s a Date"CROS, let's go to the cafeteria. I'm hungry!" Ciar said to the maiden shortly after their morning classes ended. And she, who felt like a doll again, has obeyed the words of the man without even being aware of it again as if she was his puppet. She only noticed it when they were already walking in one direction."Why are you so silent to me? Is that how you’re going to behave later the rooftop?" the man muttered like a snobby kid while his lips were pouting. Then, he suddenly stopped walking and went in front of her as he stared at her intently. Her cheeks immediately warmed up from the awkwardness she felt but also recovered when she remembered what that mysterious guy had said about the thing on the rooftop."Rooftop?" she cluelessly uttered. The boy smiled playfully as he said, "
Chapter 10: What Did Just Happen?SHE WONDERED what happened? How did everything turn out like this? It was an unexpected turn of events. Maybe she was unlucky. She shouldn't have felt so happy because of them when she knew that sadness might suddenly take over.Their chosen day and time easily flew. She was already in front of Stoneheart University's golden gate while waiting for her dates.Time check! It was a cold Saturday at one in the afternoon, the clouds were gray as if any moment it would make the sky cry heavily. She just got there, maybe five minutes ago before their exact call time which was one-fifteen. Because of her nervousness, she kept standing while continuously walking around the grand waiting shed. Even when the place had a long chair for her to sit on, she couldn't sit still because she couldn't contain herself.Until time gra
Chapter 11: A Guy Covered in BlackIT HAS been a while since she last saw the golden gate and the huge building in front of them. How long has it been after she left for the better? Somehow, it felt so long yet so short. It was as if everything just happened yesterday because she could still clearly remember every detail vividly."Hey, Luna! Don't tell us you're just going to reminisce all day?" Harriel said as he raised an eyebrow at her which she saw and caused her mind to return to reality."Luna..." Shiki called to her in a tone as if he would cry any moment.
Chapter 12: The Curse and the KeyUP UNTIL now, Luna is still having a hard time to believe that the grandmother she knew wasn't a grandmother at all, but a beautiful woman who seemed to be like her age.Now that her memories are coming altogether, the original look of her old grandmother is starting to look kind of familiar. If she wasn't mistaken, she saw it first the last time she went home?In a blink, her name also changed. However, she liked it better. Crostelia was too long and it sounded too girly for her now.Moving on, a man covered in black? She tried recalling her memory a lot of times but only one person popped out every time she fo
Final Chapter: I Am Him“WHY CAN’T you speak?”“Did you swallow your tongue?”“Or is it that you are really not the princess?”Luna kept on taunting Estella who never managed to say a word as soon as she diverted the attention of everyone to her.Estella lowered her head as she tried covering her ears but the noises that came from everyone kept on going through her mind again and again as if a broken record that wouldn’t just stop.“Maybe she is really not the princess.”
Chapter 113: Lie Detection Array“IF YOU don’t want to believe my statement and Maximilian’s then you can try asking my cousin, Shelana Loraine Sanford yourself since she was the one who raised me again.”Then, inside the room, the woman and twins who were acting like a food server removed their silicone masks.“I wouldn’t say anything anymore so just watch everything from here.”Then, she took out a projection crystal and immediately showed everything that happened to their lives. From the point where their dead bodies were shown; Luna’s body disappearance, a baby mysteriously appearing and floating at a river; then Luna growing up, up to the point where Luna st
Chapter 112: This Face Is the Evidence“H-HUH? Maybe my eyes were just tricking me,” the princess said while stuttering with her eyes unfocused in one direction. How could it be!? How could it be!? What did the servant I commanded earlier do!? How could she fail like this!? The princess thought anxiously in her mind while fighting the urge to bite her nails and hurt herself by pulling her hair. If she does that, they will only be more suspicious of her.“Worry not, Your Highness. There’s no reason for you to apologize to me as I will not make this matter big. I don’t want to bother you although the issue probably reached the ears of the people outside by now—even the people of Phantom Chaos&m
Chapter 111: The Color of the Necklace“THIS… May I ask what is this, miss magician?”Luna smiled as she turned her gaze towards the direction of the “princess”, and then she chuckled.“A necklace,” Luna replied as her mischievous laugh turned to a sweet smile. As soon as she finished talking, the gasp that was heard earlier multiplied as the onlookers who were waiting for the scene to unfold, heard what Luna said and concluded—it was her, the thief of the night! The princess stood up from her seat and walked towards the table of Luna’s group with a face as if she was being bullied.“I’m sur
Chapter 110: Until It Was Luna’s TurnAND IT really happened. Just the day after the celebration, an invitation from the princess of Throndsen came to the guildhall. Everyone from the guild who managed to pass the current exam for mages were all specifically invited. This invitation caused an uproar and confusion to everyone but Luna already has an idea as to what might it become. In the end, everyone who passed the exam prepared clothes and accepted the invitation to the masquerade party as they had no choice—no one from them has the power to reject a royal invitation especially when all of them were just commoners. Well, except for Luna, but who knows about her origins? Only few knew about her birth and not the majority of the people.
Chapter 109: Luna Already Has a Boyfriend?!RIGHT now, they are already outside the coliseum as the awarding ceremony already ended. After the ceremony ended, Maximilian’s apprentices immediately went straight to the guild to share the good news of them finally getting their license while Luna and Konrad were left in front of the pathway of the coliseum. While walking slowly side by side, as if savoring the moment, Konrad said, “Did I surprise you?”“Of course. Who wouldn’t be surprised? You didn’t tell me anything about this even though you had so many chances to do so,” Luna said as she rolled her eyes that made Konrad chuckle.
Chapter 108: A Large Bouquet of Roses“BEFORE we officially start the main event of today’s closing ceremony, we would like to call for our last year's highest ranker and the first person who managed to snatch the overall highest ranking, Mr. Silvestre, to give us his welcome remarks! Mr. Silvestre, wherever you are seated, may we kindly ask for your presence in front?” the male host said politely.Luna, who was baffled because of what her lover just announced, immediately grabbed Konrad’s right wrist before he could even walk away from her.The guy didn’t resist and immediately stopped in his place before he looked back at Luna with a wide smile plastered on his lips. The latter was ta
Chapter 107: I’ll See You on the StageTHE THREE consecutive days ended in a blast and today is the day of the celebration ceremony. Finally, it is the time to reveal who belonged to the overall ranking and of course, to give the reward of their hard work; their licenses! On the same day, the previous high ranking mages who dominated the exam last year were called to give a speech and to hand out the licenses of the newly recognized mages.Today, all of the people who were announced to enter the top twenty are all sitting together at the center highest row of the audience’s seats while waiting for the start of the closing ceremony since that was what the facilitators instructed them to do.All the
Chapter 106: Change of Plans"SO, THIS is the famous Luna under Sir Maximilian's guidance? You look plain in person. What's so special about you?" the woman with an undercut red hair and a black piercing on the left side of her lower lip said in a mocking tone.Luna, who is in front of her, shrugged her shoulders and carefully put the strands of her hair—that were blocking her left eyes—behind her ears. Then, the maiden bashfully laughed as she glanced at her opponent."Oh? Am I famous? Well, thank you. But... Who are you and why do you talk to me as if we're close even when I only saw you today? Are we familiar with each other? Who are you?" Luna replied sweetly without being affected by her opponent’s sharp words tha
