LOOKALIKE

 VANESSA'S POV

   A month later, Beauty and Elegance were all in great anticipation of the CEO Mrs Caroline Howard, i heard her name from the manager Mr Robert, she'll be here later in the afternoon which means i had to wait until she comes before i could leave

"Hi Vanessa, did you by chance see your friend? Emily" Scott approached me and asked with his British accent as i sat in the break room 

"No, well not till after we got to work that is" I answered politely

"Okay, please do tell her i asked about her when you see her would you? It seems like she have been avoiding me" he said sounding a bit hurt in the process 

"Sure, would do so" i said and he left 

Few minutes after he left while i kept myself busy with my phone, Emily appeared from nowhere

"Speak of the devil" I said with a smile

"Missed me?" She asked as she took a sit next to me while taking my slushie in the process, I didn't object

"So how did you manage to pass Bob" My question came in 

"Told him i had a stomach ache, he wouldn't believe it not until i farted a bit" She said grinning

"You did what?" I asked laughing hysterically 

"He asked for it" She said not minding

"But you're having a stomach ache?"

"Heck no i'm not, he gave me five minutes though" She said but i was still caught laughing, when o caught a hold of myself, i then told her

"Someone came looking for you?" 

"Who did? We're at work" She asked looking confused

"Just a hint, your crush" I said again

"That's spilling the bean, Scott right, why would he come looking for me"

"Mily the guy isn't a bad guy you know, he sounded hurt, you should at least give him a chance, who knows you two..." 

"Nessa stop it" I was interrupted before I could even complete my sentence

"Why would you say that, have you suddenly forgotten what our deal was? and besides that, he's British" she plainly said

"You have some kinda beef with the British or what?" I asked

"Nope, it's not that , it's just... I don't just like the guy okay and i need to get going now, Bob would be furious i havenct returned yet" She said and dashed out

"Weird" I whispered inwardly

that was my cue to go back to my work station, immediately i got there, our department manager Irene announced that the CEO just arrived and we all should go back to work which i did.

   

few minutes later, a tall slender woman who looked like she was in her late thirties walked in accompanied with a younger lady by her side who held her bag and some files, i assumed it was her PA and Mr Robert the manager. We all left whatever we were engaged in and turned our direction to her, to acknowledge her presence 

"Show me around would you?" She asked directly to Mr Robert

"Sure, why not" He replied, they moved from one corner to another, viewing everything, we on the other hand went back to whatever it's we were doing.

Soon after, time for our shifts was over and i met Mily at the lobby, as i got down she didn't say a word to me rather she just stared at me for a few seconds, then we made it to the entrance of the building

"Is it just me or does the CEO looks alot like you?"

"What?" I asked surprised at her thought

"No seriously she really does, I've known you for over how many years now Nessa, do you think i can mistake your lookalike?" She said still trying to make me believe her

"Okay, then what makes you think so" I asked again to clarify

"Well her nose structure's just like yours and she as well has a beautiful smile like yours" Emily said 

"Awww did you just give me a compliment" I asked diverting away from the original topic

"Okay just so you could see what I'm saying, give a tiny turn around, she's heading towards her, car you can see her now" She said totally ignoring my initial question but i had to see what she was talking about, so i turned 

  To my surprise Emily was actually right about the facial appearance, we had striking resemblance but that doesn't explain anything

"Mily that doesn't mean anything, she might just be a lookalike, after all each one of us has at least six lookalike in different part of the world"

"Enough with the history lesson okay , look I'm just saying, it's not like you take after any of your parents facial appearance or anyways" she said again

"What are you tryna insinuate?" 

"Nothing specifically, it's just a random guess o think" She defended

"You don't know but i might take after my grandparents perhaps and aside from that, Mrs Caroline's married, with kids " I said as a matter of fact

"I never said she wasn't... Look let's just bury the topic okay, i seriously don't know why i brought it up anyways" She said and refused to say another word as she drove us back home 

  

Immediately we got to the driveway, i received a call from David

"Wow, first time, wassup" I said once i picked up , beating him from saying a 'hi'

"Oh ..." He chuckled a bit 

"I'm good, hi there" He said 

"Hey" I said properly

"Okay, urrrmm how was your day?" He asked

"Good actually, i just got back from work" I said and looked towards where Emily stood but didn't see her there anymore she was already on her way to the apartment

"Maybe i could make it alot better?" 

"Huh?" I asked cause i think i misheard

"Sorry i meant would you like to have lunch with me perhaps"

"Like a da...?" 

"No no no, not like that, just as friends" He hurriedly interrupted

"hmm let me see, I'm hungry yes, but that would mean I'm gonna leave Emily all alone at home"

"Who's Emily"he asked

"My bestie, we just got back from work"

"Okay, urmm maybe we could bring her takeout on our way back?" he suggested

"Sure, that would be lovely" I concluded

"Okay then ..." 

"Let me send you the address" I told him

"Great, I'll be there in a jiffy" He said and hung up, which made me turn around to head up to the apartment to prepare

KIM'S POV 

"Hello?" 

"Hi Vanessa?" I replied calmly 

"Babe it's been a while, how've you been and what are you up to anyways?" She asked

"I'm alright, just been a bit tired lately, sorry i haven't reached out though, I'm working evening shifts so i return late from work" I explained

"Oh so sorry, i totally understand" She replied warmly

"Hey what about this, you guys could meet up with I and Park tomorrow afternoon, doesn't that sound great?" I suggested

"Sure it does, we'll finally be meeting officially with him, but wait his name's park? Like the park park?"

"Not the park park, Korean Park but his full name's actually Park Ji Hyung" I told her and laughed at her previous comment

"That's way too long, I'll just go with Park, OK urmm see ya tomorrow then"

"Yea sure, bye" I said and hung up 

DAVID'S POV 

 "You had such a long time with your phone didn't you? Who was that?" 

"A friend of mine" She replied plainly

"That you called 'babe'?" I persisted

"It's a girl, she's a work mate and a friend"

"Then who's Park?" I asked again, but she already looked irritated

"Are you purposely tryna get on my nerves David, I could leave here now you know" she snapped

"Oh I'm so sorry, you know what? Don't answer that i rather not know" I said nonchalantly but she smiled instead 

"That's my friend, Kim's Boyfriend, they're both Koreans and she said we'll meet him officially tomorrow" She explained everything

"Ohh... That's good, i feel so stupid asking all those questions, i couldn't help it cause you kept talking on phone and ..." 

"David that's not a problem, i totally understand, i hold no grudges, and i should apologize as well for interrupting our lunch" she interrupted my lamentation

"Phew" i heaved a sigh of relief

"I thought you were gonna be mad at me or something" I said and adjusted well on my seat to dig into my lunch cause it was already brought to our table

"Okay David, tell me about you?" She asked and faced me 

"Isn't it supposed to be the other way round?, like you'll tell me first?"

"Well i asked first, I'll say mine when you're done" 

"Okay then, here i go..." I said, took in a deep breath then continued

"My name's David, like you know" I paused again and gave a light chuckle 

"I graduated from Washington State University, currently working as an editor at Newman springs publishing company, I'm from Chicago but moved down to Washington after my middle school"

"Don't actually know my Dad, my Mum don't really talk about him, she's a single Mum and we've been through everything together, she has this phrase to always encourage me 'It's us against the world' " i finally concluded

"Awww that's sweet, your Mum sounds nice" She complimented with a smile

"Yea, and she's nice in person as well, you could go to her café anytime you choose, i assure you she serves the best" I said again 

"Okay okay, no more distraction, now tell me about yourself" I asked again, which she agreed to.
