"It can be a great way to explore your subconscious mind and get in touch with your deepest thoughts and desires," the officer says. "You might even start to notice that certain things trigger certain dreams. For example, if you read a scary book before bedtime, you might have a nightmare. Or if you eat spicy food, you might have vivid, colorful dreams. Have you noticed anything like that?" he asks. "Sebastian" thinks back on his recent dreams, and realizes that there is a pattern.

"Now that you mention it, I do seem to dream more vividly after I eat sweets before bedtime," "Sebastian" says. "I didn't realize that there might be a connection. Does that mean I should avoid eating sweets before bedtime?" The officer shakes his head. "Not necessarily. You don't have to change your habits unless you want to. But it's useful to be aware of the patterns. And if you do want to start lucid dreaming, a dream journal can be a great first step," he says. "What comes next?" "Sebastian" asks.
