Chapter Two
Rina. "Y..you?" Her hands shook with rage as she took a step closer to the bed "what's going on? What the hell are you doing in my husband's room?!" Her fists clenched as she glared at Rina and remembered how Laura had admonished her to keep Rina away from her grandson. And now, Damien had gone and brought her into their home. She had failed Laura. Rina stared at Lana mischievously, her rosy pink lips curving into a smirk. Lana's palm itched to wipe that smirk off her face. She looked around the room, taking in the sight, slowly. The room was dimly lit from the chandelier above, which cast a faint glow around the room. Rina's hair looked disheveled and her complexion was flushed. There were clothes strewn about the floor of the room and a faint musty smell hung in the air. As Lana tried to make her brain understand whatever it is that was going on, Damien walked out of the bathroom. His golden locks, was wet and stuck to his forehead. He stopped when he saw Lana and his face darkened with a huge frown "What the hell do you think you're doing in here?" He growled and immediately Rina heard his voice, she ran to him and gave him a tight embrace, her entire body shaking, seemingly from fear. "Dami, I'm scared!" Lana felt like vomiting as she watched Damien's arms go round Rina in a tight embrace. He looked down into her face as he mumbled softly, "It's okay, I'm here. Don't be scared" he kissed the top of her head and the smile disappeared from his face as he glanced up back at Lana. He failed to see the sinister smile which Rina was giving Lana as she rubbed her cheeks against his hard chest. "Damien" Lana closed her eyes, in an effort to remain calm but it was very hard "What's she doing here?." "That's none of your fricking business! Get out of my room!" Damien still held on to Rina as though she was a little child, scared of the noise. "I want her out of my house this instant!" Lana retaliated, her voice shaking with emotion as she took another step forward " I will not have your little mistress under my roof!." Something flashed before her eyes and before she could realize it, Damien's hard palm had landed on her face. Twang! Lana reeled from the force of the slap and she landed on the floor, stunned. She reached to touch her reddened cheeks with trembling hands, and her eyes stung with unshed tears as she looked up at Damien who was glaring at her on the floor. His chest was heaving as he tried to calm down. "Don't you dare call her that, you conniving bitch!" He pointed a finger at her and almost spat at her "I've had enough of you. Your face makes me sick. You disgust me, Lana, just fricking go to hell!." Lana could see Rina standing behind him, her hands over her mouth seemingly in shock but her eyes were filled with glee. She was definitely enjoying the show and the look on her face was enough for Lana. She shakily stood up, determined never to back down in front of them. "Hell?! I'll make you see hell if you don't get that bitch out of my house!" She fired back, standing her ground although she was trembling all over from the emotions which were choking her Damien smirked, and his beautiful eyes glittered with disdain. "What are you going to do?" He walked back to Rina and gently led her to the bed. She continued hugging him, even though they were sitting. "Run to my grandma? To deceive her all the more?! Too bad she's out of the country. At least she won't get to see your conniving and hateful face!" "What are you talking about?" Lana was shaking with anger and she could not fathom what Damien was saying. She also could not stand Lana caressing her husband's chest. 'I said, get this bitch out!" At this, Damien stood up and walked to his desk and pressed a button. Soon, a guard appeared. "Ma'am, please come with me" The guard's eyes were apologetic as he held on to Lana's arm trying to lead her out but she shrugged out of his grip. "I said, get out!" She walked towards Rina and grabbed her arm, ready to throw her out. Rina shrieked, calling out to Damien, and Damien immediately pushed Lana to the floor again, cradling Rina in his arms. Lana fell to the floor, her abdomen suddenly on fire. She clutched her stomach and gasped loudly. "Get her out of my house! I do not want to see her face!" Damien thundered at the guard who immediately sprang into action, and roughly dragged Lana outside. Lana was limp with the pain and when the guard unceremoniously dumped her in front of the house, she called for her driver immediately. "Diego...to the hospital, quick" Lana gasped as the driver immediately placed her in the car, before hurrying to start the engine. She could not let anything happen to her baby. Lana's whole body was engulfed with pain but it was not like the aching in her heart. Her eyes stung with tears which spilled over and rolled down her cheeks She wailed, unmindful of the driver who looked at her in distress. "Ma'am, please stop crying, everything would be o...oh shit!" Diego yelled suddenly as a huge dump truck came at the car from a side road. He swerved sharply to avoid an impact and the car was thrown off the road and it careened straight into a tree by the side of the road. And then, there was a deafening silence. Before the car crashed into the tree, Lana was already unconscious, her head on the headrest in front of her. Slowly, blood trickled down her legs, staining her white dress and the seat which she sat on.Chapter Four Hundred And Twenty-fiveLana walked out of Arielle's room, quietly, her cell phone vibrating silently. She closed the door behind her quietly, wincing as it creaked slightly at the hinges.Arielle was asleep, the most peaceful one that she'd had in days, and Lana did not want to disrupt her rest. For days now, ever since Adrian left for the doctor's conference, she had been taking care of her daughter herself, assisted by the profession caretaker she employed. But it seemed like Arielle was getting weaker and weaker as each day passes by. It seemed she was able to rest easily in Adrian's presence than with her.Lana tried all she could to make sure that Arielle was very much comfortable even in her state. She heaved a sigh of relief when the door closed all the way and the familiar click as it locked could be heard. She held her buzzing cell phone and walked into the living room, her eyes fixed on the phone. The screen flashed with an outgoing call to Adrian for several m
Chapter Four Hundred And Twenty FourFor a moment, Maya did not know what the hell Zaire was talking about.Maya is the problem? What Maya? She was here right now, so how was she the problem? Her heart slammed in her repeatedly as she gazed at Zaire, eyes squinting with confusion and anger. How dare he say such careless things around Damien? What if Damien got curious and wanted to know who Maya was?Or maybe...Maybe Damien already knew.Maybe Zaire had told him the truth, and instead pinned everything on her, and now Damien knew she was just a fake and did not even deserve to be there next to him. This thought made her gulp hard in fear and she could not dare to look at Damien now.She inhaled deeply, "Calm down, Maya," she muttered to herself, "Zaire would never do that. This is also important to him. He would never just give out your identity that way. Take a chill pill, okay?"But still she could not dare to look at Damien even after saying those comforting words to herself. She
Chapter Four Hundred And Twenty-Three"Under no circumstances should you get close to that woman in the photo," Damien stared hard and long at Zaire as he said those words. He knew Zaire was waiting for him to nod and concede to those words but he just could not get the right words out of his mouth.God knows, he wanted to be far away from this poisonous woman but he could not get past the sudden yearning that was burning inside of him."Damien," Zaire called once more, shaking him by the shoulder slightly.Damien seemed to have zoned out for a minute."Did you hear what I said?" Zaire asked once more, then sighed in frustration.Damien shrugged his hands off his shoulders slightly, "Yes I did." He said stiffly, then glanced down at Zaire's cellphone, "I don't know, I just seem a bit off with this. Its a bit hard for me to believe that woman is like that. It sounds crazy, I know but..."He trailed off, and Zaire could barely keeping himself from rolling his eyes. What the hell was th
Chapter Four Hundred And Six"Damien Romero will be abandoning Lana Fernandez."Adrian reared back his head as though he had been slapped. His face was twisted in confusion at Zaire's statement."Damien Romero would abandon Lana?" He asked incredulously, "You think that's possible? The man flew over thousands of miles to rescue her when she was kidnapped and even took a bullet for her. And you tell me he's gonna be abandoning her? In what universe?""Yea, he did all that but does he remember that he did all that?" Zaire asked, tapping a finger against his jaw as if he was thinking deeply. "What?!" Adrian screeched, in more disbelief and confusion. He was about to say something more when he realized where Zaire was going. He cocked his head to the side in astonishment, "Are you saying that because he's amnesaic, he would not remember Lana and also not remember his feelings for her?""Bingo!" Zaire uttered, rubbing his hands in glee as though he was extremely happy that Adrian was fina
Chapter Four Hundred And Twenty-OneDamien swallowed at those words and his fists clenched beside him."Why would she...who was she..." he inhaled deeply, "Who was she to me?"Zaire sighed, "I did not want to tell you this while you were still recovering, but that woman is literally your bane, Damien," He uttered in a serious tone, "You need to avoid her."Damien groaned in frustration, "And why do I need to avoid her?" He asked once more, "What's the big deal about her that she's been kept a mystery? And..." he cocked his head to the side, an eyebrow arched in confusion, "Why does she look like Lana? Lana has a twin?""No," Zaire groaned in frustration, walking up to Damien again with his hands on his shoulder. This time he looked into Damien's eyes pleadingly, "Do not ever associate her with Lana. She's not Lana and she'll never be Lana Fernandez, no matter how much gimmicks she comes up with."Damien narrowed his eyes, "What are you talking about?"Zaire sighed once more, his voic
Chapter Four Hundred And TwentyDamien could not understand how he felt at that moment. But he knew that if he did not get to know who this mysterious woman was, he'd go nuts."I asked you a question," he repeated, when it seemed like Zaire was not going to be replying to his question, "Who is this woman?"In a bid to pass across how urgent this was to him, he stretched the cellphone towards Zaire, shaking it in his face vigorously.Zaire stood watching him, eyes squinted in deep thought. The muscles in his jaw twitched rapidly from growing ire. He did not like how Damien just reacted to seeing Lana's picture."What the hell is wrong with him?" he thought in annoyance, "He is not supposed to be this curious about Lana Fernandez. What if he recalls something? Dammit!"He looked at Damien once more and gritted his teeth at the amount of desperation in the latter's eyes."You cannot know who she is, Damien." He thought to himself, "I don't care if y'all have some kind of connection. I wi
