LOGINChapter Three
When Lana opened her eyes again, she was lying on her back on a hard surface. She sat up quickly and fell back to the bed immediately as her head felt like it would split in half. She gasped in pain and grabbed her head with both hands. She realized that it was wrapped round with bandage, and there was a needle on her hand connected to a bag above her. She was at the hospital. What happened? She remembered the crash and her hands immediately went to her stomach "My baby" she breathed frantically just as the curtains were pulled aside and a doctor appeared. "I see you're awake, Miss" he smiled at her as he checked he vitals "And you're doing well, I can see." "Doctor, my baby" Lana whispered softly "Is my baby fine?" The doctor's smile faded slowly as he looked down at Lana. Slowly, he shook his head. "I'm sorry" he breathed softly, staring deep into her eyes. Lana's eyes burned with tears, but somehow they did not spill over. "It's dead?" Her voice was void of emotion and the doctor was confused, wondering if the loss of her child had made her go insane. Sometimes, incidents like this tend to make people go into shock and they behave abnormally. "You have to calm down, Miss" He said "although, the injuries you sustained from the accident are not that severe, you need to make sure you don't stress yourself." The injuries were not that severe? Then, had she lost her child before the incident? When? Surely, it can't be when Damien pushed her, because she felt the pain from then. But if it was so... She turned away from the doctor, and her gaze went to the door. She saw Diego standing there, his arm in a sling. "Ma'am, don't worry, I already called the boss. He's on his way" He shuffled painfully over to her, cheerfully saying in his hispanic accent. He looked away from her, because he was afraid that she would probably see that he was lying. He had actually called the boss to inform him of the accident but the boss had berated him for disturbing him. "Just take her to the hospital. The doctors would take care of her. Do not call me over this matter again!" Those had been the boss's words and Diego could not bring himself to repeat them for Lana. Lana stared at him, her face hard. She knew he was lying. Many times her driver had lied to her, in order to make Damien save face in front of her. "Ma'am, the boss sent this flowers." "Ma'am,the boss called and asked for you but you were out." "Ma'am, the boss got you tickets for your favorite opera." She always knew it was a lie because Damien could easily call her if he wanted to talk to her and she hated flowers. She was allergic to them, dammit! She sat up again, and this time her head throbbed slightly. "I can get discharged now, right?" Lana stared straight ahead as she spoke, her voice void of emotion again. Her lips was pale and she looked ghastly, with huge bags under her eyes and sharp cheekbones. "No, you cannot" The doctor shrank back from the glare which Lana gave him as he said those words but he still remained calm "I might need to run some more tests on you. Please, hold on a bit while get some things ready." As soon as he walked out, Lana slid out of the bed with difficulty "Diego, get me my clothes" She removed the needle from her wrist, her face showing no pain. It was as though she lost her emotions along with her child. Diego was scared. "Ma'am, please, you heard the doctor.. " "Fine, I'll leave without you" She walked out of the room, taking long strides and ignoring the pain in her head. "Ma'am wait" she could hear Diego calling out to her as he tried to catch up with her but she didn't stop until she was out of the hospital. Diego caught up to her, breathing heavily. "Please ma'am, don't hurt yourself. The boss would be angry if anything happened to you." Lana laughed but the look she gave Diego was murderous. "Really? He would?" Diego shrank back in horror from her murderous look. My God, what had happened to her? Diego wondered in fear. "Get a cab this instant and stop telling me shit!" Diego nodded and sprang into action, stopping a taxi, waving wildly with his free arm. Lana slid into the back of the cab and Diego sat in front. "Take me to the Reign Estates" she ordered, looking out the window and Diego looked back at her in shock. She was still going back to the mansion. Diego was worried. He did not want her to go back. He knew what was happening back at the mansion and if she went there, she'd only be more hurt. "But ma'am, are you sure about this? Maybe we can go in and get the doctor..." Lana glared at him and he immediately faced his front, but he still managed to say in a small voice, "The boss is not home, if you're looking for him. He's at the Reign Gardens, for the business summit and banquet he's hosting, so let's just return quietly inside, ma'am, I beg of you." "Take me to Reign Gardens!" Diego's head whipped around again as he stared at Lana in shock. She was going to the business summit like this?! With her hospital dress and a bandage wrapped around her head? However, the look in her eyes scared him and he dared not say another word. The cab rolled to a stop in front of the Reign Gardens. Lana could hear classical music, emanating from the garden as well dressed and sophisticated people milled about, discussing and laughing. The place was filled and Lana had a hard time finding Damien, but everyone did step out of her way, once they saw her. Maybe because of the cold look in her eyes or the ghastly way she looked. She found Damien, in a discussion with some of his friends and his face was alight with joy. Lana's fists clenched as her blood boiled. He hurt her and made her lose her child, and here he was laughing as though nothing happened?! He looked up and saw her and his expression immediately, turned to a scowl, as he gave her a dark look. She equally stared at him with a strange look which puzzled him. The next words which came out of her mouth stunned him. "Damien Romero, you bastard, I want a Divorce!."Chapter Four Hundred And Eighty Six“Let’s hear what you so desperately need from someone who has been kicked out of Romero.”The others in the room snickered at the statement which Lana made and Director Evans felt his face become even redder with anger.Yes he had previously taunted Lana because she had been kicked out of the Romero Empire which she protected more than her life. But he just could not help it.However, he did not mean that Lana was without power as she had been kicked out of Romero Empire. He only meant to say that she had given her all for an Empire which had betrayed her.It was something to fuel her anger to work with him. But at the same time, it was also something which he mocked her with.He glanced up at Lana and saw that she was looking at him with an eyebrow raised inquisitively, “Well, are you gonna have your seat or are you gonna stay there all day watching me?”Director Evans started at that statement and he struggled to his feet.“Believe me when I say I
Chapter Four Hundred And Eighty-FiveDirector Evans nodded, even though he felt another jab to his pride by having this ride, young woman speak to him this way.“Why should I care about disturbing your sick child?” He thought to himself maliciously, “If she had to pass through what I’m going through right now, I’m sure she would be dead by now.”However, he did not dare say this out loud to Lana. That would mean he was forfeiting his purpose for coming here. And no one in their sane mind would help anyone who insults their child.Even though he felt Lana would undoubtedly jump at the chance to work with him when he revealed his offer. It was quite a juicy one.He scoffed internally, looking forward to how she would react when he eventually say what brought him to the villa.“What’s with the brooding expression and the mysterious air?” Lana’s young assistant, Diego Martinez spoke up. Diego rolled his eyes in Director Evans’s direction, “What on earth brought you here, Director Evans? S
Chapter Four Hundred And Eighty-FourLana sat very straight backed on her chair, with her arms crossed her gaze very direct with her eyebrows drawn down slightly in disbelief.Beside her sat the other three men; Paul, Liam and Diego. These were also sitting very straight backed like Lana with their arms crossed as they stared straight ahead of them, with the same slight look of disbelief. In front of them sat Director Evans, squirming in his chair and trying very hard not to give off that he was self conscious with the way the four opening front of him stared at him.“And to what do I owe this…uh…whatever this is,” Lana started, unsure of how to addresss the situation. She decided to just address Director Evans directly, “What is this? What are you doing here, Director Evans?”Director Evans bristled, “You do not have to be as rude as ever,” he said gruffly, raising his chin in defiance as he straightened the collars of his coat, “You think I would just drop by randomly to see you? To
Chapter Four Hundred And Eighty-ThreeHilda slowly got up from the floor on which she was kneeling. She straightened out her dress and stood very straight backed by the door, her chin raised defiantly.“I await your orders, ma’am,” she said, gritting out the words from between her teeth.Maya smiled, “Get the bath ready. Do not forget the pink Himalayan salts,” she said as she turned back to the mirror, looking at Hilda through the glass, “You know I need them for my bath to be complete.”Hilda gritted her teeth as she ignored Maya’s little jab, then went towards the bathroom to prepare the bath.Once everything once done, Maya stepped into the bubbling tub like royalty and had the most luxurious bath ever. She insisted on Hilda standing beside her and hiding on to her towel as well as refilling her glass of wine, which she sipped occasionally as she enjoyed her bubble bath.Hilda bore all this, suffering through the ordeal and almost biting her tongue in the process to keep her anger
Chapter Four Hundred And Eighty-TwoThe maid looked at Maya, her hands fisting her dress and holding on tightly.“You know, that’s not what I meant!” She cried out in a hoarse whisper, “All I meant to say was…ugh… I was only trying to protect my life!”“Not what you meant?” Maya scoffed, “Come on Hilda, did you honestly think that walking off to reveal my true identity to Damien would not ruin Zaire’s plans? How stupid can you be?!”Hilda gritted her teeth, almost biting into her gum with rage, “That’s because I was trying to make you see reason and how foolish your act was… ahh…”The maid covered her head with both hands in terror as Maya suddenly lifted the vase in her hands. She immediately fell to her knees before the vase descended and placed both palms together, running them vigorously in a pleasing fashion.“I’m sorry, I’m sorry!” She pleaded, through gritted teeth, like it was killing her to be doing what she was doing. Tears of rage and fear burned her eyes and spilled over a
Chapter Four Hundred And Eighty-One“What’s my name, Hilda?” Maya asked once more, a maniacal smile stretching her lips as she towered over Hilda.Hilda stared up at Maya in horror, unable to comprehend what this bitch was asking from her. What did she mean by what’s her name? She was Maya Eugene, the grand daughter of a stinking fisherman and that’s what she will ever be.Or…Suddenly Hilda’s eyebrows twitched as she realized what Maya was trying to say and why she had been hitting her all along. It was because she was addresssong her with her real name. The bitch wanted to be addressed as Lana Fernandez! This made Hilda scoff in disbelief as she stared at Maya. Bracing herself for another slap, she stood up from the floor and clenched her hands into fists.“You know what you are,” she uttered through gritted teeth, “You know what you can never become, Maya Eugene!”Maya closed her eyes slowly in frustration as her smile slowly faded away. She turned towards the small dresser beside
