Chapter Seven

“Diana, she can't leave without Grayson's consent,” Lisa cried out.

“Who says she can't? I am sure Grayson doesn't want to see her again,” Diana retorted.

Lisa let out a sigh and gently pulled Diana outside.

“Why are you acting this way, Diana? I know you as a kind and caring person. Why are you treating a stranger seeking asylum with disdain? Please, stop,” Lisa exclaimed.

“I am doing this for you and my niece or nephew in your stomach. Grayson wouldn't mind her being gone, you saw him storm out of here earlier,” Diana stated.

“Let it not be your call, let it be his, please,” Lisa pleaded.

“Whatever, I have other things to do right now, are you coming with me?” Diana asked, avoiding any further discussion about Evelyn.

“No, I'll stay here with Evelyn," Lisa declared.

"Suit yourself,” Diana replied before departing.

“Hey, Lisa said to Evelyn as she walked back into the room.

“Hi, I will take my leave now. Can you point me in the direction of the Pack's border?” Evelyn inquired.

“Where do you want to go?” Lisa asked.

“Anywhere, maybe another pack would be willing to take me in,” Evelyn said.

“Do not mind Diana, you don't have to leave until Grayson says so,” Lisa pointed out.

“I think I should leave, I'm obviously not welcome here. I don't want to be a burden or be seen as a threat,” Evelyn said.

“If you insist on leaving, it's fine but I will advise you to stay until tomorrow; it's too late now. Come to my place for a warm bath, some good food, and rest for the night so you can have the energy to find another pack when you leave,” Lisa suggested.

"Oh, that's kind of you. Thank you so much. I'm starving," Evelyn replied.

“You are welcome, Evelyn,” Lisa said with a smile.

Lisa led Evelyn to her small cottage, where she lives alone with her cat.

The small cottage was surrounded by trees and painted blue. A welcoming porch with a swing greeted visitors. Inside, cozy furnishings and personal touches gave the cottage a homely feel.

“Wow, this is such a lovely home. Do you stay here alone?” Evelyn asked as they entered the cottage.

“Yes I do,” Lisa replied.

“I am sorry to pry, but what about your mate? You should have one by now, considering your age,” Evelyn asked.

Lisa smiled, “He rejected me,”

“Oh I am so sorry,” Evelyn said.

“It is fine, I have forgotten all about that now,” Lisa said.

“I waited for years in my Pack to be mated, I cried myself to sleep every night praying to the moon goddess to mate me with someone, anyone, be it an alpha, a beta, a gamma, a delta, or even an omega, I didn't mind. I simply long for someone to cuddle up against when the cold sets in, someone to share conversations with, someone to hold hands with, to witness the beauty of both sunrise and sunset together, but unfortunately, that never came to be," Evelyn expressed wistfully.

“I totally understand that feeling. Didn't you try to get into a relationship with someone maybe he could have chosen you,” Lisa asked empathetically.

“I had a boyfriend once, I loved him and I had thought he would be my mate, he was one of the guards assigned to our house, to protect us….”

"A guard assigned to your house? Are you the Alpha's daughter?" Lisa interrupted before Evelyn could finish her sentence.

“Yes I am,” Evelyn replied.

"Oh, that's a good one. I see why you are Grayson's fated mate - you have an alpha's blood running in you," Lisa replied, a hint of jealousy evident in her eyes.

"Yes, I do," Evelyn affirmed with a smile.

“So what happened with this guy?” Lisa inquired.

“He was mated to my maid, who waits on me,” Evelyn said.

“Oh my! That must have been so embarrassing,” Lisa exclaimed.

“Yes, it was very embarrassing. I locked myself up for days, crying in my room. That was the last time I dated someone, I decided to patiently wait for my mate to avoid further embarrassment,” Evelyn said.

“Wow! That's quite a lot,” Lisa expressed.

“What would you like to eat?” Lisa asked.

“I am fine with whatever you give to me, thank you so much. I feel indebted to you already,” Evelyn said, expressing her gratitude to Lisa.

“Come and take a shower while I prepare the meal,” Lisa said and gestured for Evelyn to follow her to the bathroom.

While Evelyn was having her bath, Lisa headed back to the kitchen to prepare a meal for the both of them.

"What are you up to? Why are you pretending not to be affected by her being here and being Grayson's fated mate?" Missy, Lisa's wolf scolded her as they were alone in the kitchen.

Lisa let out a sinister laughter as expression changed from peaceful and amiable to malevolent.

“Wait and see what plan I have for her if she dares to stay in this Pack. Grayson is mine and mine alone” Lisa replied Missy.

“You need to make sure she leaves the pack by tomorrow. I can feel the strength of her wolf, and her connection with Grayson and his wolf is so strong,” Missy warned.

Lisa clenched her fist tightly, hurting herself with her long nails until blood began to trickle out, then she slowly released it. She stared at the blood and let out a wicked chuckle.
