Chapter One

Evelyn ran desperately through the thick woods, the relentless storm belting her with raindrops. The deafening roar of thunder echoed through the trees, filling her with a primal fear that gripped her very soul.

As she dashed through the dense forest, a tree suddenly loomed in her path, its outstretched branch tearing through her clothing. Ignoring the searing pain, she pressed forward, knowing her relentless pursuers were hot on her trail and she had no time to spare.

Evelyn had witnessed her pack's destruction at the hands of the werewolf hunters leaving her with a sense of loss and helplessness. The ruthless human organization was on a mission to eradicate all werewolves, systematically targeting and destroying packs one by one, leaving death and devastation in their wake.

Evelyn had managed to escape from her Pack, but a few of the hunters saw her and gave her a hot chase into the woods.

“There,” She heard one of them calling out.

She had been spotted, and the hunters raced towards her as she reached a cliff. Evelyn staggered backward, feeling lost and unsure of what to do next. Her pursuers were now behind her, closing in.

“Ah ah, what do you want to do now,” One of the hunters called out to her mockingly.

“You should have died peacefully with the rest of your Pack. Now I am going to give you the most painful torture you could ever think of and make you beg for death,” The lead hunter threatened as he made a move toward her.

Evelyn was an alpha wolf, she was the daughter of her pack's alpha so she possessed a strong wolf and could fight. Her father had sacrificed his life for her so she could escape and she was not going to let his efforts be in vain.

Evelyn cautiously moved backward, lightning struck and illuminated a large stone nearby. Acting swiftly, she grabbed the heavy stone and hurled it at the approaching hunter. Thanks to her wolf abilities, she was able to lift the weighty stone effortlessly.

The stone struck the hunter's head, shattering his face as he stumbled back and collapsed to the ground.

The rest of the hunters rushed at Evelyn but before they could reach her, she jumped off the cliff.

“Grayson my ears are filled with different rumors about you in the pack,” Diana said to her brother, as they were having their breakfast.

"What rumors this time? That I'm the most dashing Alpha in the world," Grayson responded with a grin, looking at his younger sister.

“I am serious, Grayson, you are 35, you haven't found a fated mate to become your Luna yet, and you have not chosen one from the numerous girls you sleep with. The wolves are starting to say you are cursed,” Diana expressed in concern.

Grayson smirked at Diana's words but remained silent, focusing on his meal without saying a word.

“You need to choose a mate, Grayson, you cannot be mateless forever. You are the Alpha of this Pack and the Pack needs a Luna,” Diana cried out.

Alpha Grayson sighed as he stared coldly at his sister. He dropped the spoon in his hand and made a conscious effort to remain calm as his anger was rising. He didn't want a Luna, he was never going to have a Luna.

“We have had this discussion several times, Diana. I am surprised you are still bothering me about this topic. I am never going to have a Luna and maybe the Moon Goddess respects my decision and that is why she has not given me a mate” Grayson lashed out.

“Grayson, you cannot hold on to….,” Diana started saying before she was interrupted by her brother.

“Enough,” Grayson screamed, “I don't want to hear one more word about this. I don't want a Luna, or a fated mate, or a Chosen mate and my decision is final,” Grayson said, boiling in anger at her sister's persistence on the topic.

He tossed away his plate and stormed out of the dining room in anger.

Diana watched her brother leave and couldn't help but feel pity for him. He had been deeply affected by their mother's betrayal towards their father years ago which had led to their father's death and Grayson assuming the throne at an early age.

Their mother's betrayal had hardened his heart towards women, making him vow never to allow himself to love a woman or to let one get close enough, determined to shield himself from experiencing the same fate that had befallen their father.

He saw women as mere objects of pleasure, with little to no respect for them. Diana had hoped that everything would change once he found his fated mate, believing that the bond between mates could help in healing his emotional wounds. However, luck had not been on Grayson's side as he was yet to encounter his fated mate.

Diana had tried to help her brother countless times by setting up some of her good friends for him, hoping he would find one his heart would connect with. But once he sleeps with them, he discards them.

Did the Moon Goddess really plan on making my brother mateless for life? Diana said to herself.
