James slipped out of the hospital and pulled a dark cloak over his head. His footsteps echoed faintly on the cobblestone path as he kept to the shadows, his mind occupied with how he was going to escape from Silvermoon.

"Where do I go now?" he muttered under his breath. He clutched his cloak tighter, glancing around the quiet streets.

He decided to return to his home, gather what little he could, and flee alongside Demas and Gaius.

As he neared his house, he froze, heart pounding. From the alleyway, he saw Beta Luke standing near the entrance with a group of armed guards. Their torches lit the area, and James watched as two guards dragged Demas out of the house.

“Where is James?” Beta Luke demanded, his voice cold. “You can make this easier on yourself if you tell us where he’s hiding.”

Demas stammered, his face pale. “I-I don’t know! He didn’t tell me anything, I swear!”

“Lies!” Beta Luke yelled, grabbing Demas by the collar. “You have been planning treason against the Alpha alongsi

I thought you said the herbs were by the roadside,” the guard asked, his voice faltering slightly as James led him deeper into the forest.James didn’t respond, instead, he quickened his pace, his mind fixated on the plan ahead.“Ma’am, stop right there. You’re walking too fast,” the guard called out, his unease growing with each step.James stopped in his tracks and swiftly discarded the layers of clothing that disguised him. Frank dragged Evelyn outside to where Jerry and James were.Evelyn gave Jerry a menacing glare, realizing he had been the traitor working against Grayson all this while."What kind of relationship does this man have with Grayson?" Jerry asked, his voice firm."I don't understand," Evelyn replied, puzzled by the question.Jerry let out an impatient sigh as he got up from where he was seated and approached Evelyn."Are you deaf? I am asking you to tell me if this bastard is truly an enemy of Grayson or not," Jerry said, shouting into Evelyn's ear."Oh," Evelyn said, finally understanding why she had been summoned. She glanced at James, studying his body language.Evelyn let out a soft chuckle, surprising both Jerry and James."Am I a joke to you?" Jerry asked, narrowing his eyes."No, but I think James here has made a fool of you," Evelyn said."How?" Jerry demanded."I think he’s played a fast one on you, and you fell for it," Evelyn continued."What on earth are you talking about?" Je

"James escaped from Silvermoon disguised as a pregnant woman and even killed a guard who grew suspicious and followed him into the forest," Luke reported to Grayson, who sat in his room with a grim expression."He’s likely gone to the hunters. Don’t worry, we’ll catch up with him," Grayson replied calmly."We managed to drive the hunters back today because there weren’t many, and we caught them off guard. But they’ll regroup, and we need to be ready for them," Luke warned."We will be. Start training the guards and tighten our security. If our numbers aren’t enough, recruit more from the pack. Find able-bodied men and women, train them, and fortify our defenses. We cannot allow those hunters to gain access to Silvermoon," Grayson instructed firmly."I’ll get on it immediately. One more thing—" Luke hesitated before continuing, "I think I saw Evelyn this evening, but I’m not certain."Grayson’s jaw tightened as he looked up sharply. "Why are you telling me this?" he snapped."Shouldn’t

“Alpha Grayson, do you copy? Alpha?” Beta Luke repeated over the link, but only silence greeted him.He sighed, frustration etched on his face, as his gaze fell on James' severed head resting inside a box at the southern border.“You didn’t see who left this here?” Luke asked, his sharp tone directed at the guards on duty.“No, sir,” they answered in unison, their heads lowered.“How could you not see something like this? What’s the point of standing guard here if you can’t even catch this? What if the person who left it had tried to breach the pack? What then?” Luke’s voice was a mix of anger and disappointment. The head guard stepped forward, bowing slightly. “We apologize, sir. We’ve been vigilant, I assure you. We spotted the box within two minutes of it being dropped, but we couldn’t see who left it. We’ll be more watchful from now on.”“That’s not good enough!” Luke yelled. “You’re here to protect this pack, and that means no slip-ups. You need to know what you’re doing—be more

Grayson stood before the assembled guards in the Silvermoon pack's training grounds. His commanding presence, once dulled by despair, was slowly returning. The guards, sensing the shift in their Alpha, stood straighter, their attention fixed.Grayson cleared his throat. “I won’t sugarcoat this—war is upon us,” he began, his voice steady but sharp. “James’ head on our border wasn’t just a warning. It was a declaration. The hunters won’t stop until they destroy everything we hold dear.”The guards exchanged glances but said nothing, waiting for him to continue.“Beta Luke and I have identified critical vulnerabilities in our borders,” Grayson continued, pacing before them. “Effective immediately, I’m increasing patrols on all entry points. Each shift will be doubled. I know this will stretch us thin, but I will personally oversee additional training to make sure every one of you is prepared.”“Alpha,” one of the senior guards stepped forward, “It’s good to see you back, but what happens

“Diana, can you hear me?” Beta Luke called out excitedly, leaning closer to her.“Luke,” Diana replied faintly, her eyes scanning the hospital room.“Oh, Diana! You scared the life out of me. I thought I was going to lose you,” Beta Luke said, his voice thick with emotion.“What happened?” Diana asked softly, her voice barely above a whisper.“You don’t remember what happened to you?” Luke asked, his brow furrowing in concern. “Diana, do you know who I am?”Diana sighed and closed her eyes briefly before reopening them, tears glistening in her gaze.“Of course, I know who you are. You’re Luke, my husband, the Beta of the Silvermoon Pack, and we’re at the hospital,” Diana said, her tone steady but tired.Luke exhaled a sigh of relief. “Oh, you scared me. Lisa said you’d likely wake up with memory loss.”At the mention of Lisa’s name, Diana’s expression shifted, her eyes darkening with a flash of anger.“Where is that bitch?” she demanded, her voice suddenly stronger.“Evelyn? “What? That’s what happened? Grayson was right about Lisa! Oh, my goodness,” Luke exclaimed, his voice rising with disbelief at Diana's revelation.“What about Evelyn? Where is she? What happened to her? Please tell me she’s not dead,” Diana asked, her tone heavy with concern.Luke groaned, his face clouded with regret. “She’s not dead, but she’s in danger,” he admitted, before recounting everything that had happened to Evelyn, his voice thick with frustration.“How could Grayson fall for that?” Diana snapped, her voice tinged with fury. “How could he not see that Evelyn was set up? Did he really love her as he claimed? Why would he believe she’d do something like that?”The intensity of her anger triggered a sudden headache. Diana winced, bringing her hand to her temple. “Oh, my head,” she gasped.“Easy, Diana. Take it easy,” Luke said, gripping her hand reassuringly. “It wasn’t entirely Grayson’s fault. The setup was convincing. With the state, we found you in—and with the pack clai

Lisa entered Diana's room, her voice ringing in an unnaturally high-pitched tune as she sang, her movements light and carefree. It was clear she was in a good mood, her steps almost dancing as she approached Diana’s bed.She cast a smug glance at Diana’s still form lying unconscious, her lips curling slightly.“Will she ever wake up?” Missy whispered inside her mind.Lisa shrugged dismissively, her eyes narrowing as she eyed Diana with thinly veiled malice. “That depends on her will to live. But even if she does, she’ll be nothing more than a vegetable. A burden.”As she turned away to adjust a vase on the bedside table, Missy’s sharp voice pierced her thoughts. “I think she’s moving. Look at her hand.”Lisa froze and quickly turned back. Her heart skipped a beat as she noticed Diana’s fingers twitching ever so slightly. The rhythmic movement was unmistakable.“She’s waking up,” Lisa muttered under her breath, her expression a mix of shock and panic. She leaned down, shaking Diana g

The night stretched on as Grayson, Nix, and Luke kept their vigil by the burnt remains of Jerry’s car. The fire had long since dwindled, leaving only smoldering embers and charred metal. None of them spoke much, the weight of the night’s events keeping them silent. As the first rays of dawn broke through the trees, Grayson exhaled deeply, his sharp gaze still fixed on the wreckage. “It’s over,” he said quietly, his voice laced with finality. “Jerry’s gone.”Nix stretched his arms, yawning. “I’ll admit, I didn’t think the bastard would ever meet his end. But seeing this… yeah, he’s not crawling out of that one.”Luke grinned, patting Grayson on the back. “Well done, Alpha. That was one hell of a chase. I’ll never doubt your driving skills again.”Grayson smirked, finally stepping away from the ashes. “Let’s get back. We’ve been out here long enough.”They walked back to the car, the adrenaline of the night fading into exhaustion. Grayson slid into the driver’s seat, Nix and Luke ho

The roar of an engine pierced through the forest as Jerry sped down the dirt path, his hands gripping the steering wheel tightly. His eyes darted to the rearview mirror, scanning the darkness for any signs of pursuit. The night was thick, cloaked in shadows, and the dim headlights of his car barely illuminated the uneven forest trail. His pulse raced. He thought he had escaped until the unmistakable hum of another engine reached his ears, faint but growing louder.“Damn it,” Jerry cursed under his breath, glancing at the mirror again. The faint gleam of headlights in the distance confirmed his fears. “Can this bastard drive?” He muttered to himself. He slammed his foot on the accelerator, the car jerking forward as it sped along the rugged path.In the car behind, Grayson’s hands were steady on the wheel, his sharp eyes cutting through the night like a predator stalking its prey. The trees blurred past as he maneuvered skillfully, avoiding rocks and low-hanging branches with ease.

The chaotic roar of flames engulfed the camp as the hunters, determined to hold their ground, lit the perimeter on fire. Thick, choking smoke billowed into the air, a fiery orange glow illuminating the battlefield.Jerry barked orders amidst the chaos, his voice cold and commanding. “Hold the line! Don’t let the wolves take us down easily!”“We can’t let them escape!” Luke shouted, his voice cutting through the noise as he and his men charged forward.Hunters fired their weapons wildly, the sound of gunfire mingling with the guttural growls of wolves mid-shift. Nix’s warriors flanked the hunters, their speed and strength overpowering the disorganized defenses. In the chaos, Jerry’s sharp eyes caught sight of his car parked near the edge of the camp, half-hidden in the shadows of the surrounding trees. Beta Luke led the group, his sharp eyes scanning the ground for any sign of movement or disturbance.Alpha Nix followed closely, his keen senses on high alert, with their men fanned out behind them.“Anything yet?” Nix asked, his voice steady but laced with urgency.“Not a damn thing,” one of the guards replied, frustration evident in his tone. “It’s like they vanished into thin air.”“They didn’t vanish,” Luke said sharply, crouching to inspect a patch of broken twigs. “They’re just good at covering their tracks. Keep looking. They can’t have gotten far.”Another guard called out from a few meters away. “Beta, over here! I think I’ve found something.”Luke and Nix moved quickly to the source of the voice. The guard was pointing to a faint trail of flattened grass leading deeper into the woods.“Looks like a footpath,” Luke muttered, crouching to get a closer look. “What? How did that happen?” Jerry snapped, his eyes flashing with rage as he shoved Evelyn away from him.“The other Alphas in the region… they came to Silvermoon’s aid,” the hunter stammered, his voice trembling. “We were outnumbered. The remaining hunters—about ten of them—huddled close, their faces a mix of fear and uncertainty.“What do we do now, boss?” one of the hunters asked, voice shaky.Jerry’s eyes burned with fury. “Tie this bitch back to the tree,” he growled, pointing at Evelyn. “And get the cars ready.
