Alexey's POV.

I woke up to the early sound of the cock, it was a big day for me and the Pack. This is the day I've been longingly expecting all my life.

A smile appeared on my face as I sat up at the edge of the bed and remembered what day it was – it's my eighteen birthday and like every other werewolves, I'm going to get my mate today.

Hopefully, it would be one to put me out of my misery.

“Hey! What are you doing there, smiling at yourself? Get to work before Ms April put you to it.” My bedmate, Lexi, snapped.

That's true! Today is a big day for me and I can't let even April spoil it.

I got out of bed and followed the other maids out of the room.

Oh! I forgot to introduce myself. The name is Alexey, born like every other werewolf but taken as a slave and being living as an orphan since of recent.

How I hate the person who killed my parents!

“I'll make you pay dearly.” I always reminded myself.

We walked into the big hall, the Alpha Danes, had planned to use for his birthday.

Did I forget to tell you I share my birthday with a ruthless Alpha who does nothing but stains his hands with innocent blood?

I tried to live by doing nothing and everything.

While cleaning the hall, Ms April walked in.

“Hey!” She yelled with a finger at me, her face marred with a frown as usual. “What do you think you're doing? Are you going to clean a chair for a thousand years?” The cold stare in her eyes sent a wave of cold through my body.

Looking at the chair I was cleaning, I realized I had drifted away from reality.

“I'm sorry, Ms April.”

“Oh, no! I won't be able to forgive myself if I let Ms April ruin my day before it even started.”

As I walked toward the next chair to clean, my eyes fell on the wall clock – it said 4:30am by the clock. While others were sleeping, I'm up, working and slaving my life away.

Yes, that's the kind of life the Moon Goddess has granted me since birth, but it's going to change soon…. Only in a matter of hours.

My mate would put an end to this misery.

The sky was almost clear when we finished cleaning and decorating the hall, we hurried back to our room to prepare to receive guests for Alpha Danes while some went to the kitchen to prepare a feast.

“Are you that excited?” Bonnie's voice cut through the chain of my thoughts, a smile beaming on her face.

“Of course, I'll finally get to leave this hellhound.”

“You mean leave me?” Her glowing face was cast down as her voice fell to a low, sad whisper.

I moved closer to where she was standing, took her hands in mine, and looked straight into her eyes.

“Don't say that, Bonnie. You're the only friend…. The only person I have left in this world. I also wish you could come with me, but.....”

“Till I get to shift next year…. I understand.” She wriggled her hands out of my grip and went into the bathroom.

A soft huff escaped my lips as I watched at her silhouette and imagined what life without her would be.

Two hours later, some maids were stationed in the hall to receive guests, of which I was among them. I smiled brightly at them as they made their way in, until I saw a face.

Lucia!

The smile on her face almost made me poke.

“It's a beautiful day, isn't it?” She scoffed as she got to the door, closer enough, so I can hear her.

All I'm thankful for is that she had come to realize how much I hate her for Alpha Danes. Though he is a ruthless Alpha, he needed someone better, not someone who would bring the worst out of him.

All heads were bowed as Alpha Danes made his way into the hall and headed to the platform.

“Good morning, everyone.” He smiled.

“How ironic!” I scoffed in my thoughts as I watched him.

“Thanks for honoring my invitation. As you all know, today is a great for me, and I intend to make it greater.”

He was going to continue his speech, but he choked on his words, like he felt something, and his eyes fell on Lucia before settling on me.

My eyes met his usual cold looking eyes and their quickly fell to the floor.

“What's happening? Did Lucia mind link him and told him I hated her? Oh, I'm doomed.” I whined in my thoughts.

Then, I felt a sharp pain, it was a mate bond.

“Mate!” My wolf leaped for joy.

I slowly lifted my head among the crowd, looking for him, but it turned out to be no one apart from Alpha Danes.

“Now I'll get to live my whole life in misery.”

“Hey, you!” His voice reverberated, sending cold chills down my body. “Did you feel that? That mate bond?”

Too scared to say a word, I nodded, my hands trembling with fear.

Lucia gave me a deadlier glare.

“I can't be fated with a maid as a mate.” Alpha Danes roared in anger in front of his guests.

“You will never be my Luna.” He pointed to me with his eyes laced with hatred.

I might be a maid, but Alpha Danes also isn't the man I dreamt about when I woke up this morning.

“I accept your rejection, Alpha Danes.” I bowed in respect, but my heart was full of pain.

The pain curled up to my chest, I could hardly tell if it was because of the rejection or because I have nowhere else to go now and might be stuck in the Palace forever.

There, I made a decision.

“I'll go rouge.”
