Chapter 3
Celene's POV They dragged me into the judgement hall, and I realised a couple of pack members, the judgement council, and Dad Valerie were already gathered there. They all had accusatory and judging expressions as they cast sidelong glances at me. The guards asked me to kneel. "Dad, what's going on?" I yelled, frustration getting the best part of me. He didn't even bother answering me as he faced the people present. "Today, I lost my second daughter, Ella!" I let out a gasp. "What? How's that even possible!?" The judgement room sprang into life with whisperings and chatter. A needle-like pain was stabbing at my knees, and I felt like every ounce of strength in my body was being snapped out. "We are trying to find out who..." "She did it!" Leslie cut him off coldly, pointing accusing fingers at me. "This cold-blooded runt killed my daughter in the woods. We have all the evidence on her, and now she has to pay with her life!" Her words held so much weight that they plunged the room into silence that even the sound of a needle dropping could be heard. My heart threatened to pull out of my rib cage as all rational thought jumbled up and dispelled from my head. I just saw Ella about one or two hours ago. And she's dead? They've got to be fucking kidding me! And knowing what Ella could do, it was probably one of her cheap tricks to have me punished for trying to hit her the other time. I glanced at Dad, and I could see the way he was visibly shaking. He held onto the arms of his chair tightly with his eyes squeezed shut. I sprang up in fury. "Dad, you know it's not true!" His eyes flew wide open, and for a split second, I thought I could see a drop of tears trickling down the corners of his eyes. Or maybe not. "Why would I want to kill Ella? You know they are trying to frame me, but you will still remain silent and let them kill your kid. What is it that you are so afraid of? Why are you so afraid of your stepsister!? You know I'm innocent in this!" A derisive snicker broke through Valerie's lips. "Frame you? Are you insinuating that I killed my daughter just to do away with a worthless bag of shit like you? And innocent? What evidence do you have to prove that you're innocent?" This is a is a coy serpent! The curse was almost on my lips. She knew I didn't have any evidence. This was it. What she'd been trying to do for a very long time. She wanted me gone from their lives, but must she use this method? "I may have evidence!" My voice croaked out. "But to assure you, most of the maids knew I was indoors most of the time. Do you have any evidence too, stepmother?" "Who said I didn't?" An evil smirk lifted the corner of her mouth. "Let him come in, please!" The noise level in the hall increased as everyone waited for whoever it was to enter. The huge door creaked open, and a man strode in. I didn't need anyone to tell me it was Christoph. I winced as I immediately averted my gaze. Was he going to accuse me of killing Ella too? "Tell us what happened, Christoph," Valerie ordered him. His lips quivered slightly, making me wonder if he had been threatened by Valerie or if this was his plan all along. "Celene and I were dating before I found out that Ella was my fated mate. Things went out of hand, and Celene found out that I was sleeping with Ella today. We broke up, and after that, Ella went out." He paused to look at me. "A few minutes later, I couldn't smell her scent again, which could only mean she was dead. I searched for her and couldn't find her, so I told Luna Valerie. They also tried searching for her, but we couldn't find her." "However, we did find something interesting." Valerie shot in. "Celene's ring is covered in a pool of blood that obviously belongs to my daughter. She has committed an abomination against the royal house, and it's punishable by death! How will you explain this, huh?" Chris suddenly fell to his knees. "But that doesn't mean she killed Ella or Luna. I mean, she might have had the motive, but she won't do something like this." You sly pretender! "Fuck you, Chris!" I gritted out, spittle flying as I lunged at him. "Grab the criminal and bind her with heavy chains!" Dad's voice boomed out, and my whole body stiffened. My heart was constricted against my chest, and I could hardly breathe as I stared into his expressionless face. He really didn't care if I died. He was my father; the least he could do was stop Valerie, but now he was also calling me a criminal. Tears of anger mixed with frustration welled up in my eyes as the guards seized me. As they bound me with the chain, the sharp edges sliced through my skin, and I bit down in pain. "Dad, are you even my father?" I asked, my voice a shattered sob. He avoided my gaze. "What are you still waiting for? Throw her into the dungeons. She'll be brought forward for judgement tomorrow!" "Says who!" A baritone voice, drooping with authority, boomed from the door. The door kicked open immediately, and the colossus of a man barged in. He took long strides to the front, flexing his muscles. His figure dripped with raw strength. So feral. Alpha male! I couldn't place a finger on it, but I feel like I have seen him before. "Alpha Mondrian!" The father said it with a subservient tone. The hall broke out with whispers. "It's the Lycan king!" My mind emptied when he turned, and I saw his face. A shocked gasp left my mouth. He was none other than the man Valerie had said I was going to marry earlier. He was the Lycan king. Shit! Was that what she was trying to say when I spoke rudely to him? And now, I was just so fucked up. There were rumours about him. How ruthless he was towards anyone who dared defy him. My heart quivered from the thought of what he would do to me. I was in it today, and now no one could save me. I'm just destined to die today. When his heated gaze fell on me, I felt my insides go all hot as fear slithered down my spine. A minute passed, and he didn't say anything. He just kept staring at me relentlessly. Then his gaze grew dark. "Bring her in!" He growled, and the door opened instantly. My heart almost jumped out of my throat when a figure walked. It was Ella, and she looked very much okay. her normal, bitchy self. A collective gasp filled the hall when everyone saw his face. "Luna Valerie, what should I say? The dead came back to life." Valerie trembled with fear, a horrified expression framing her face. "I was—I thought she was." "I don't care what you think!" Alpha Modrian bellowed. "Get that woman out of those damn chains! She belongs to me now!"Chapter 4Celene's POVI could feel perspiration rivering down my back as I glimpsed the menance in his eyes. He looked like he was about to explode soon. And was it just me, or did he just say I belonged to him? They scuttled around and got the chains off me, shivering with fear as they avoided him."Alpha Mondrian, how did—how did you find Ella?" Valerie stuttered. He sneered. "You know, for some moment, I almost assumed you tried to kill your own daughter!" He paused as everyone gasped in shock, and a scowl appeared on Valerie's face."I was just kidding!" He laughed, low and husky. "She was caught in the trap your pack warriors set out for rogues. I saved her."Valerie gritted her teeth as she managed a tight smile. "Thank you so much. Uhm... We are sorry for putting you through so much trouble. The judgement is hereby cancelled." She announced.Mondrian suddenly held his hand up. "No!" He shook his head. "That wasn't exactly the way I imagined you would say it. You should apologi
Chapter 5Celene's POVI shuddered slightly, suddenly checking the urge to buckle but I wasn't ready to give him the satisfaction that he so much sought after."So what? You think I will be scared?"His suddenly lowerd his head and I trembled slightly as he cupped the back of my neck, tightening his grip."Hmm, nice!" He whispered huskily. His voice distracted me greatly and I felt the fear disappear as my gaze flit down to his lips and return, startled to his eyes. The fingers at the back of my neck stroked some wild nerve to life, careening them through me as my pulse bumped to light speed."There," he said quietly. "Scared now?"I could all but feel his mouth on mine and I couldn't tell if I imagined it but his scent wafted into my nostrils for a split second, tantalizing my senses beyond control and it was difficult, trying to concentrate. His mocking laughter snapped me out of my reverie. "You felt it too, yesterday, didn't you? don't you? Why are you pretending not to? That's al
Chapter SixMondrian's POV“I’d love to see you try Alpha—-?” The corners of my mouth twitched with the ghost of a smile as I punched him harder in the face before he could finish. And suddenly, I craved more blood. I was usually good with controlling my emotions, but with her in front of me. With so much hurt in her eyes, I couldn't stand my Wolf taking over.I wanted so badly to have Christoph torn apart, limb by limb. At that moment, it felt as though all of that was meant to give me immense satisfaction and some relief from the chaos brewing inside me.I tried to hold back my Wolf from having him attacked almost instantly, with my hands still wrapped tightly around her wrist. I couldn't understand why she made me feel the way I did.She looked me over as if noticing my presence for the first time. The sweet scent of this annoying perfect girl, overwhelmed me as I breathed her in amidst all that was happening. “Fuck!” Christoph groaned in pain, holding onto his already broken nose
Chapter seven Mondrian’s POVIt doesn’t have to mean anything…right?! The drive home is more annoying than it seems with Alex on the drivers side chirping away with unhinged excitement at my plight. After filling him in on what had happened in the Violet pack. “So you’re saying that you think her own mother probably tried to kill her daughter??” Alex’s hands raise high to the roof of the car as he shuts the top windows as the slow drizzle of the rain revolves around us. My hands find their way into the gentle strands of hair that've been pulled back with the rubber band I’ve become accustomed to carrying around. Releasing my hair from their bonded terror, I don’t give a verbal response but Alex doesn’t even wait for a response before coming to an answer of his own.“That doesn’t make any sense man.” “I didn’t say she did it. I said..there’s a probability that she’s the one who sent those assassins. There’s something fishy going on and that’s not even the most of my problems at the
Chapter eightCelene’s POVI run across the hallway and up the stairs that connected to the hallways of my room, my heart beating hard and fast as I held into every bit of reserve I’d summed up over the past few hours. Just a few more steps and I’d be within the confines of my room. My eyes blurred with tears as I raced down the hallway, my hands on the doorknob as I barged into my room slamming the door behind me before sinking to my knees. My hands trembled in my laps as I let out all my tears, my cries were barely heard over the sound of rain that hit the roof like pebbles on glass making it all the more easy for me to let out every bit of pent up emotion swirling through me. The atmosphere shifted slowly matching my mood as my room seemed to take on an even darker loom the flowers slowly dropping and the weather slowly worsening. My hands burned where Christoph had held me against him and I raged from within at the betrayal I had recieved. It was only yesterday that I found out
Chapter NineMondrian’s POVThe drive home was faster with my emotions in check and Alex feeling a tad bit chirpier about the things he felt like he’d be able to do now that he knew I’ve gotten a mate. I didn’t realize that the absence of my mate not only pressed into my side but affected the lots of people around me. I ruled the White fire pack with as much intensity and ruthlessness it took to ensure that the pack stayed burning and alive so it took a rather great deal for me to notice what the others were conferenced about only if brought to my notice by my beta-which is Alex-and any of my trusted enforcers. My eyes catch the movement of guards on patrol of the pack house situated at the front end gate which overlooks the crest of the hill the pack was situated on. There were too many advantages with building the pack this far up the county coast, the vegetarian grew easier here making it easy to trade any produce into the local markets and stores providing a source of income for
Chapter 10Author’s POV It's not murder if it’s your own daughter.. it’s not murder if it’s your own daughter. Valerie chanted at the back of her mind as she watched celene being dragged into the hall. Hee smirk was hidden underneath the facade of tears she let pour out of her eyes as she dabbed her face with her kerchief facing her living husband struck with shock and fear as he watched his daughter being brought to her knees still in her nightwear struggling with the guards who had been ordered to bring her into the hall. She let out a scoff at her attempt to seem pained but she knew better than to let her sounds and body betray the internal joy she was feeling. “Valerie??” Daniel’s-Celene’s father-voice wavered as he turned to look at the woman he’d ended up with, all in the course of one mistake.“Yes??” Valerie sniffed before turning to meet the stare her supposed mate was currently giving her. “You know she didn’t do it right??” He stuttered, staring at her and managing to a
Chapter 11Authors POVAuthors POVDrip.Drip.Drip.Drip.. the sound of the water hitting the ground from the tap was the only sound that echoed through the entire washroom as Ella stood still, her eyes raving around the entire space, hands by her waist trying to make sure she wa steady to face the pack again after what had happened last night. She could barely think and more so barely even breathe when she found herself being hauled across the hallway and into a room by her mother. The mark from the rings Valerie wore around her fingers was enough to scar from the slap she had delivered across her daughter's face sent shivers up her spine by her merely looking at it. Memories of the previous night flooding her brain as she slid to her knees in the bathing cubicle. “You had just one job!! And yet you still managed to ruin everything for me.” Valerie screamed at her daughter as she dragged her into the room and pushed her across the room. Ella landed with her bum on the hard floor, te
