Chris' arms appeared tense. There was finally a hint of remorse in his eyes.

"Clarissa, hear me out. Ruth and I grew up together. She's like my younger sister. I'm used to looking after her. She really was in a bad state the other day-"

"When is she ever not in a bad state?"

I stared into Chris' eyes while making sure to enunciate each word.

"Ruth said she was sick during my birthday once, and you left me with a group of friends in the house. They all thought I was a joke.

"When I was sick, Ruth said there was too much dust in her house, and she couldn't breathe. You went to accompany her and left me alone in the ward while I received my IV drip. It was hard for me to even go to the bathroom.

"There were too many incidents like these. Can you give an example of a time when Ruth wasn't sick and didn't interfere with our lives?"

Chris looked down in silence after I brought up the series of questions.

It felt good to get my revenge.
