Ares Grant is breathing heavily while running as fast as possible to signal his men. It was very dark and due to the heavy rain he couldn't seem to identify the way he's been earlier and could no longer see where he was going.
He needs to find the way out, or else he might die here. He wasn't prepared. How dumb he is to forget his gun in the car. He was dropping by this old forest that used to be the hideout of his clan way back in the war era. No one knows this place, and it's not even on the map!
"Better hide, Grant! I did not know you were this scaredy-cat! What a shame to your ancestors if they find out that the great O'Grant can't even fight my men!"
Hugo Ontario is one of his rival in black market. He is nothing compared to him of course. What did he call him? A scaredy-cat? Of course, he can finish them with his bare hands but this is not how he fights.
"You'll regret this, fat ass. I'll surely make you beg for your life!"
He whispered.
He has to find the way out here. It's been ten years since he last visited this place. The grass are taller than he is and the forest is not safe at this moment. Wild animals are everywhere, ready for the prey to come, and he will not be their meal tonight.
'Ugh'
He stopped running when he heard someone made a whimpering sound not far away from where he is. It isn't loud, it sounds like you are running out of breath and gasping for air, trying to fight life over death.
He strolls towards the sound he heard and made sure to walk lightly so no one could listen to the crackle of his footsteps.
"Find him! And make sure to bring him to me alive!"
Hearing Hugo's voice screaming like a mad man, he slumped down but fell into a soft object, or is it an animal? He can smell the blood merging the air.
When he finally made sure that the men who were chasing him were gone, he pulled out his phone from his pocket to see what he just stumbled on.
It's a damn unconscious woman covered with her own blood! He checked the pulse and discovered that she is still breathing. What happened here? When did this place become the dumpsite of dead people? Or was she intentionally thrown in this place?
Thinking that the woman wouldn't make it even if he dared to save her, he slowly got up and walked past the body. Who the hell cares if she dies here? He doesn't even know her, and why does he need to save her when it is what he does. He kills people.
"Uuugh. Amorè."
He stopped and turned his head to the woman who mumbles a word. But without hesitation, he lifted the body and walked faster when he sensed the continuous vibration from his phone, giving him the signal that his men had just arrived.

"How is she?"
Ares asked the doctor who is checking the woman he brought home from last night. She was still unconscious, wrapped in bandages and machines connected to her slender body. He did investigate and looked for information about her, but he couldn't find anything that matches her identity. Even the webmaster of his organization failed to do his job for the very first time.
"She's stable right now, but she still needs to undergo several tests. I'm very much amazed at how her body is slowly recovering inside. I mean, her vitals are responding. She must be physically fit before this happened."
He paused from sipping his coffee while staring at the woman in a vegetative state.
When the doctor noticed that he's pondering on something, he cleared his throat and continue.
"Ares, I don't have a good feeling about this woman. Before she causes something big in the future, bring her to the city. You can't hide her here forever. You have a big responsibility, and you know that keeping a woman won't help you maintain the wins in this war."
He smirked and turned his cold gaze to the doctor.
"I don't plan on maintaining the work, uncle. I'm bringing the organization to Zenith Palace."
He clenched his fist, turning the dark aura inside him. He could feel his blood rising, fueling the desire to kill every person who will try to stop his ambition.
The Zenith Palace— consists of six organizations. They are gods of every organization; everyone feared them, no one dared to compete nor even tried to lift a finger to any of their members.
But not him because he will destroy them by all means, even if it'll cost him his life. He will find and kill the one who assassinated the only woman he loved and adored — his mother.
*Flashback*
"Mommy! Guess what dad taught me today!"
A four-year-old little boy was wearing a cowboy suit running excitedly towards the woman in her late twenties who's holding hot chocolate cookies fresh-baked from the oven. She looked like a princess, even if she was wearing a melted yellow apron.
She spread her arms and let the little boy bumped on her chest so he could enjoy the warmth of love from his mother.
"My darling! Hug mommy! I missed you! So, tell me, how did you spend your time with your father? Hmmm?"
"Dad taught me how to fire a gun! I love it, and shoot one of my bodyguards!"
His mother was stunned before turning her sharp eyes to his husband, who had just entered the kitchen. How can he be so heartless to let her child kill a person at his age! But instead of giving her an explanation, his husband just shrugged his shoulders and went straight to the fridge.
"He should learn everything from now on. One day he will be the Alpha of our organization, and I expect a man with blood as his weapon."
She just stared at his son with tears in her eyes. It's not the life she wanted her son to have, but she knew that her husband was right.
"Mom? Are you alright? Are you sad?"
The boy was curious. Not able to read what's going on in his mother's mind at the moment. After a while, his mother smiled sweetly, like how the angels love heaven.
"Nooooo. I'm so proud of you, my darling! Oh wait, I made you a cookie. Want some?"
She held him in her arms and carried him to the table.
"One more time you show him tears, a bullet will go through your head."
A shattering of words his fathers whispered to his mom that he never noticed. It looked like he was kissing her cheeks, but he was piercing a dagger through her heart.
*End of flashback*
Ares put down the newspaper he was reading when he heard a loud slam on his door in the office. A guy in buttoned-down black polo entered the room holding an envelope. It was his cousin, Liam. When his father turned over the position, Liam became his right hand and eye on everything.
"Damn, bro! When did you have had the habit of bringing a woman to the mansion?"
He exclaimed as if he did something terrible, which of course, Liam's words were valid. He never had a woman in his life. He had flings, but most were used for a fun overnight or whenever he needed a date at parties. He can get a woman whenever he wanted, but he never did anything for them especially bringing them to the mansion.
The mansion is the most private of all his properties, where only his family and trusted men could get the pass. The estate was surrounded by hundreds of assassins and guarded with high-technology weapons.
When his mother died, parties are not allowed in the mansion, and when his father passed away, he banned everyone and only allowed a few people to enter the estate.
"And since when did you become so nosy about my business?"
He answered coldly and was not even bothered by his cousin's question. He took the envelope from Liam's hand and scanned the papers one by one.
"Woah! 'My' business?"
Liam is delighted to see his reaction. If only he can see his face frantically changes its color from pale white to red. Did he blush over that statement? No. Maybe he was just annoyed. Liam is always like that, and he constantly nags everyone around him as if he can't pull a trigger on his head in a second.
"Did I just witness the great O'Grant turn into cherry tomato?!"
"No news yet?"
"Did you just change the topic?"
"I want Hugo's head on a silver plate tonight."
"Did you just blush again?"
He shoots a sharp look at him. He is ready to break his bone any moment from now. When Liam saw him reaching his gun from his drawer, he quickly stood up and ran towards the door, but before he could even touch the doorknob, Ares shoot the gold vase that cost a fortune beside him.
"Come back here, or I'll feed to Scar tonight!"
He shouted while still pointing his gun, aiming at Liam's head now. He is referring to his pet named Scar.
Scar was a baby when he took him to the estate when he was hunting ten years ago. He found him dying while a bear was chasing him.
Liam had no choice but to follow him like a scared puppy, but his teasing expression hasn't changed.
"She's still unconscious when I left the mansion, but uncle said she would gain consciousness anytime soon. Did you check the area that night?"
It's been four days, and she still has no sign of life. He always visits her room whenever he is in the mansion. He wants to transfer her to the city, but they can't find any data or information about the woman. He does not know what got into him and why he feels responsible for taking good care of her. Is he just curious, or is there something with the woman that draws his attention?
"We did. Well, aside from your encounter with Hugo, we can't find anything earlier or a day after that incident had happened. There was no sign because that area was closed for too long. We even put security cameras in that forest. Hugo is maybe the dumbest person I know, but he is tricky sometimes yea? I like his guts."
Liam amusedly replied while tapping his fingers on the table.
"So, what's your plan with Hugo? Guess you already knew they'd allied with overseas investors. They are getting out of hands these days, then aren't you doing something?"
Liam stood up and went into the window where the sun is slowly setting down to the vastness of the sea. The breeze coming from outside his office window smells like salt combined with the smell of gun powders from the training area underground.
He smirks at the thought that everything is under his control.
He got up from his swivel chair then went straight to the door, but before he steps his foot outside, he turns his gaze to Liam.
"I want Hugo's eldest son this evening. Bring him to the old warehouse."
Then went out, leaving Liam dumbfounded. He wanted Hugo to have a little dose of his own medicine. He is just starting to play with him without an intention of killing that bastard, at least not for now.
After a moment of driving past the busiest street of San José, Ares slowly drove his McLaren 720S along the coastal highway where the richness of the sun is gradually fading and replaced by the dark. Outside of his car, you can visibly hear the sound of the waves pounding on the edge of the shore. He should still have a meeting by now, but he doesn't know what pushed him to go home. He touched his forehead with one hand leaning against the window while the other held the steering wheel. He takes a deep sigh. What's wrong with him? When he arrived, the iron gate opened when it recognized his car. Inside were guarded by hundreds of armed men roaming around the area. The mansion is not just an ordinary house, and it has a control system, training center, weapons, drugs, and secret passages underground. Best killers and assassins were using the in and out of the route so they won't have to enter the mainland. The house was renovated from an
"She has that thing! What am I supposed to tell them now? That we lost her?!" A loud bang from a gunshot aroused my consciousness. I suddenly gasp for air! I growl while holding myself not to scream from pain. My whole body was covered in mud, and my visions went blurry. I was holding my wounded chest while suppressing the blood that flowed endlessly from it. It hurts a lot! I remained silent as I crammed myself into the big tree while observing their movements, but I could not bear the pain anymore! I must find a way out here before these people kill me! Suddenly, the atmosphere went silent. I took a deep breath and tried to sense the presencearound me, but I could only hear the crickets and the noise coming from the trees' swaying branches. Trying
Ares was sitting comfortably on his swivel chair, and holding a cup of coffee in his left hand, while the other was scanning every page of documents and profiles. Folders are neatly piled on his table, while crumbled ones are scattered on the floor. Clearly, the business proposals he declined to sign. He heard the door open and automatically put down the things he held when Liam entered the room. Liam raised his hand, carrying a black envelope on it. His face was clearly telling him it was a piece of early bad news. "Isuggest you to finish your coffee first before I spill this one on the table," Liam smirked while stretching his body in front of him. He is used to him being so annoying every time. Even if they were in the worst life and death situation, his rascal and annoying attitude were always present. "My bullets had no patience." He looked at him coldly whil
Ares and Liam exchanged meaningful looks, giving him a signal to be ready, and of course, the latter just grinning in accordance. "Zenith has the most powerful alliances worldwide. Now, given that every one of you wanted to become a part of Zenith, we can just take everyone in. You, the people inside this room was previously chosen by the father of Zenith. But still, we can't take you all. There were only six powerful families in Zenith, so we can only take six. Who could that be?" Francisco looked at each of them viciously. He was even laughing like he was about to start a good game. Liam is positioned beside Ares as he knows what will be going to happen next. "Are you telling us to kill each other!?" The man from the leaders speaks up angrily. He is from the Cavalier Clan, one of his organization's alliances. "We never wanted this meeting anyway. We never said to join the Zenith!!" Another
"Let's say Mr. Grant owned almost every business here in San José City," William explained. We were walking in the courtyard of the mansion while he was feeding up my curiosity. He is a very kind person, unlike Ares. I mean, he is hot but a snob.I decided to go for a walk around the estate when I woke up this morning. The things I saw inside the walls of this palace-like haven blew my mind! When I stepped outside, I saw a large group of men wearing black and white suits and carrying guns. Some are armed with katanas! I believe I've seen them in a movie before. Men in suits, armed with weapons, who are handsome, hot, and —"Are you all right, Luna?" William inquired. He seemed concerned because I was zoning out."Of course! I was just wondering what kind of business that could be. Is it legal?" My inquisitive mind can't help but wonder. He looked me in the eyes
Ares was walking back and forth in front of his bed, scratching his head with the tip of a pen. The scene from last night inside his room with Luna was still jumbling in his mind. He should be thinking of a plan in response to what happened yesterday at the Monaco mansion, but his mind was giving him clear flashbacks of Luna's lips. Her soft body, her silky hair, and how she blushed!"Goddamnit!" He was perplexed as he threw punches in the air. When he stepped out of the shower last night, his gaze was drawn to the woman who was tiptoeing her way out, and he found himself scolding her instead of simply letting her out peacefully so that the incident should never have happened. He closed his eyes and sighed deeply before dialing his phone, attempting to think calmly. His uncle was correct. He should be paying attention to what is more important. And a distraction like this will only harm his plans."I
"Hello, Luna! What are you up to at the moment?"Liam was the one who called. It's her sixth day in the city, and Liam is constantly visiting her. Sometimes he will tell her to look out her window, and he will be there to say hello, give her a basket of fruits, or randomly knock on her front door to inspect the entire house, which is very strange."I was just watching the sunset on the bay walk. Now I'm off to the market to get some groceries for dinner. Why?" She answered, waving and smiling at random strangers. She already had friends. The guy selling flowers, the people in the market who sometimes give her free meat or fish, and even though she has the money Liam gave her, she can't refuse those goods. Her neighbors also welcomed her, and most of them were Grant's company employees."I was checking in to make sure I had something to report to the big boss. Stay at the house tonight, alright? Hey,
The beam of light from the sunrise woke me up as it peeked through my window, giving me a little push to open my eyes. I could hear the sound of the ocean's waves and the chirping of seabirds as they scoured for food from the outside. And I am here, squeezing my cheeks against the pillows as I try to feel the warmth of my blanket. It was only for a moment that I could detect the scent of freshly brewed coffee as the breeze whispered in my ear. Coffee? As soon as I started thinking about it, I was eager to put my feet down to the cold floor. But I needed to sleep a little bit more, so I tucked myself even deeper into the sheets. "Did you sleep well?" "Yeah," I answered dreamingly with my eyes closed. A voice with that kind of tone made me want to stay in bed all day long. A whiff of coffee fills my nostrils, and I exhale a sigh of contentment as my thoughts converge.
Ares was drenched in blood while his palm was obstructing blood flow on the left side of his stomach. He couldn't count how many stab wounds he'd received after the fight inside the old warehouse. He and Liam were standing on the cliff's edge, looking out over the vast and boisterous ocean. They both received severe wounds in unseen areas of their bodies. That's the sole thing he does in every battle to avoid getting stuck and injured in the face or anyplace else that may be seen."Those scumbags! We probably wouldn't have found Luna if it hadn't been for the tracker you placed on her bracelet."Liam was annoyed as he adjusted the tie of the torn cloth of his long sleeve to cover the blood flowing on his left thigh. Their clothes have almost been ripped apart and soaked in the intense odor of blood from the people they slaughtered."Wherever they bide Luna, t
"Do you think they'll get out there safely?"While massaging her numb wrist, Luna worriedly turned her head to where they had been. The small house was slowly fading from her eyes.Chiara was driving her sports car like she was about to enter a race."Don't worry about them, Luna. They won't die at the hands of those rascals. A small thing, really. How about you, are you okay?" Chiara asked.Worry and fear filled her eyes which Luna had always been seeing every time she got into trouble."Yes. I'm not actually afraid back there. I know that one of you will look for me. I'm sorry for getting you all in trouble." She said.Tears slowly escaped from her eyes. A warm feeling comforted her mind. She was touched by how this person cared so much about her. She was confident that they would come to find her. Her family or someone from her life before never did to her."Of course! When I heard you'd gone missing, I hurriedly went back to the C
Luna sighed when she felt Ares's warm lips as she gently played with her tongue. He seemed to be floating in the clouds due to the sensation that enveloped his body. She felt the gentle motion of one of his hands on her nape, pushing her head better to cover her lips. He was almost in a daze. She wanted some more. But suddenly, Ares stopped and pressed their foreheads together as both chased the breath."I don't know why this is happening to me," Ares said while closing his eyes and still chasing his breath."Ares." Luna's only whisper.Ares let out a loud sigh, then straightened up his body, facing the dark ocean. But after a while, it moved and handed him the jacket that she had just noticed he was holding."Wear it. You might get sick. It's too cold out here."Luna weakly accepted the jacket from here and then sighed when she suddenly felt he was serious a
Ares was driving in his car when the thing on his wrist vibrated. Upon seeing the gold bracelet glowing in red, he drifted his vehicle to the side of the road, took off the item, and broke it into two. A tiny chipset falls on his lap.Hurriedly he put the chip on his phone and looked for the map. A dot appeared on his phone, showing the exact direction of Luna. Balthazar lured him to a different place, and he was stupid to believe him! He put Luna in a different location!"Liam, open your GPS and connect with me. There is the new location where Luna is now."He immediately called Liam to report it. "I'll follow. I'll call Chiara, so she knows the location."He then immediately turned off the call and quickly pulled over the vehicle. His eyes were full of restraint and anger. Two hours after Luna's disappearance, he immediately received a call from an unknown number, and he no longer had to guess who it was from. His
Fury welled up in Luna's eyes as she saw the angry man who spoke and slowly approached in her direction. He was holding a gun that he immediately cocked when he saw her looking at it."In case you are wondering who am I, let me introduce my humble self to you. I am Rico Balthazar, and people called me Don of Lucia. Have you heard it?"Hearing the name of his captivator, Luna's brows creased and a smirk formed from the corner of her lips. She doesn't know what is going on inside her. She was supposedly afraid by now, judging that the Balthazar is holding a gun in his hands full of gold rings."Oh, I haven't heard about you. I am nothing but a newcomer to the City of San Jose. But I met your coward, asshole, and dickhead son."Luna said, gritting her teeth as she looked directly into his eyes, full of disgust.A loud slap echoed across the room. Luna pressed her lips together, pull
"Calm down for a bit, Ares. Stop panicking, man. All of our men are already looking at the entire building, and it is not easy to find someone inside the five hundred floors of this building." Liam shook his head at Ares's uneasiness. When his meeting ended earlier, he immediately returned to his office to see Luna. He knew the girl was hungry because his meeting ended almost late in the afternoon. He instructed her just to order something to eat, but he wasn't sure if the girl followed him.He was shocked when he saw that his office was empty without Luna's presence. He looked for her in the lobby, but he almost pointed a gun at his employees, but no one noticed the woman.Almost an hour ago, the maiden disappeared, and now his nervousness is overpowering his mind. He has never been moved by that kind of concern for his entire life now, not until today."What news on the security system? Tell them that if they don't give me
Slowly peeling both of her eyes open, Luna sat upright on her bed and rubbed her eyes with the back of her hands while thinking about the time she spent together with Ares last night. She was too tired after they dined at one of the finest restaurants in the City. After dinner, Ares took her to the Land of Wonders, the tallest building in the Capitol, and he brought her to the rooftop where the entire City is widely seen. They waited until midnight for the fireworks. She forgot that yesterday was Sunday, and the same day, the City has its tradition of ending the weekend with a fireworks display and their sign to welcome the week with noise, for they believe that the more noise you make, the more money will be earned come to you.She heard a bark from Lunar, who jumped on her bed and wagging his tail, running towards her. Her eyes lit up when she saw the pup beaming with excitement. She missed this baby so much!"Hi, baby! Did you enjoy your vacation with Uncle D
Luna tried to hide her laughter as Ares barely managed to avoid the City's crowded streets. It is evident from his expression that he had only now kept up with the flow of the road in his place. After she dressed up earlier, he invited her to eat where she wanted to dine for dinner. Ares even presented a variety of expensive restaurants, but she preferred to take him to the street food stalls. When Luna stayed in the City, she often came here to try exotic foods, and sometimes she brought Liam with her, especially on weekends."Are you all right? Don't you want to be here? Let's move to the place you want to eat." Luna commented on Ares's almost intricate eyebrows. She wanted to laugh but preferred to show a sad face to him. It's fun to tease, actually. The street is sweltering, and Ares can barely manage the stress written on his face as the drops of sweat are pouring on his for
“Just because you are the sole heiress of the family, you’ll acted hug and mighty young lady! Who are you? You are nothing but a spoiled brat trying to sucked up the fortune of the family!”“Stop it! She’ll gonna tell her grand father if you hit her.”Luna was looking eagerly at the man who stopped the lady from hitting the young girl. She can’t see their faces clearly, but the pity she felt towards the little girl who are kneeling on the floor, it aches her heart. She felt a connection, something that make her hate the to people who were trying to hurt the poor child.“Go back to the mansion right now. You’re husband will be suspicious if he finds out that you’re here alone with me. He is a jealous man after all.”The man went to his table and drank the whiskey straight from the bottle like he was just g
