The woods were hauntingly silent as we navigated the dense undergrowth, with the moonlight faintly filtering through the heavy treetops overhead. Each step seemed burdensome, every noise overly sharp. Dahlia’s treachery was a new injury, and her words reverberated in my thoughts like a persistent echo.

Kai’s hand lightly touched my arm, bringing me back to reality. “Daisy, concentrate.” "If we want to monitor her, we must continue to move."

I agreed, compelling myself to set aside the tempest of feelings. "She can't be far away," I remarked, uncertain if I was trying to persuade Kai or myself.

"She isn't by herself," he reminded me. "There's something strange about those rogues."

I was unable to dispute. Their actions were eerily in sync, their presence filled with a disturbing energy. And then came Dahlia’s recently discovered power. The light she had used back then was something I didn't recognize. It seemed...off.

“Do you believe it's linked to the Veil?” I inquired as we ente

The cave trembled around us, the atmosphere infused with the sharp odor of smoldering rock. My heart pounded as I looked at Dahlia or whatever she had transformed into. Her eyes shone with a malevolent red, and a dark aura wrapped around her like animated fog. She moved ahead, her grin piercing and unsettling. "Alright, Daisy, you've finally reached us." "Can you share how it feels to be so... tiny?" "Dahlia," I stated, my tone unwavering even with the tempest brewing within me. "This is not who you are." "You are under control." “Controlled?” she chuckled, a sharp, empty noise. "Not at all, sister." For the first time, I’m liberated. Liberated from the group, liberated from their demands, liberated from you.” Kai positioned himself before me, adopting a protective stance. "This is not liberation." "This is the Shadows contorting you into their tool." Her eyes darted to him, contemptuous. "Keep away from this, wolf." "This is a matter between Daisy and me." She lifted her hand,

The forest blurred around me as I ran, the ground trembling beneath my feet. Behind us, the cavern collapsed with a deafening roar, dust and shadows spewing into the air like an angry storm. “Keep moving!” Kai shouted, his voice sharp and urgent. Dahlia stumbled ahead of me, her steps uneven. She was pale, the lingering shadows clinging to her like smoke. I grabbed her arm, pulling her upright. “I’m fine,” she muttered, but her voice lacked conviction. “You’re not,” I snapped. “But we’ll deal with it later. Just keep running!” Elias darted ahead, his sharp senses guiding us through the dense woods. The monstrous roar from the cavern echoed again, closer this time. Whatever had emerged wasn’t going to let us escape easily. “Do you even know where we’re going?” I called out to him. “Not yet!” Elias shot back, his tone tight. “But anywhere is better than here!” The trees thinned as we reached a clearing. My lungs burned, and my legs felt like lead, but we didn’t dare stop

The forest was unnervingly quiet as we pushed forward, the chaos of the rogue camp fading behind us. My chest heaved as I tried to catch my breath, but there was no time to rest. Dahlia leaned heavily against me, her steps faltering with every stride. “You’re slowing down,” Kai said, his tone sharp but not unkind. “She needs a break,” I shot back. “No time,” Elias growled, scanning the trees with sharp eyes. “That thing is still out there, and we’ve already drawn too much attention.” “I’m fine,” Dahlia whispered. It was a lie, and we all knew it. “You’re about as fine as a broken bone,” I muttered, but kept moving. We finally stumbled into a small clearing. Elias held up a hand, signaling us to stop. “This spot is defensible,” he said. “We’ll rest here for a moment.” I helped Dahlia sit against a fallen log. Her face was pale, and beads of sweat glistened on her forehead. She avoided my gaze, her guilt practically radiating off her in waves. “Don’t start,” she said bef

The growl of the Shadow Beast continued to ring in my ears as we sprinted. Branches grasped at my arms, and roots menaced to trip me with each step. Kai’s hand held onto mine like a lifeline, pulling me through the turmoil. "We have to halt!" I yelled, my voice hardly heard above the noise of thudding footsteps and snapping branches. "Not at this moment!" Kai shouted in response. Elias, in front of us, suddenly stopped, turning around with fiery eyes. "This isn't successful!" “We can't continue fleeing!” "I concur!" I inhaled sharply, finally pulling my hand away. "Magnus gained us some time, let’s use it wisely!" Kai paused, glancing back and forth between Elias and me. "Alright." Here. We strayed from the trail into a thick brush. It was gloomy, the trees contorting into sinister forms overhead, yet it provided shelter. Elias bent low, his breathing labored. "That object won't cease." "We're going in circles." "What are your recommendations?" I inquired. My chest felt on fir

The air felt crisp and chilly while I stood in the clearing, arms folded and heartbeat racing. The sun scarcely emerged from the dense canopy above, creating dappled spots of light on the earth. "Once more!" Elias shouted, hisvoice carrying through the silence. I sighed, rising from the ground for what seemed like the hundredth occasion. My hands hurt, and my knees were scraped, but the deepest hurt was to my pride. "Elias, we’ve been doing this for hours," I remarked, wiping dust off my trousers. "Shouldn't I take, I don’t know, a break for a snack or something?" Kai let out a snort while leaning against a tree. "Certainly." Breaks for snacks while facing life-and-death scenarios. "Excellent thought, Daisy." I gave him a fierce look. "Your assistance is tremendous." "Talk less, concentrate more!" Elias lost his temper. He moved ahead, his look serious. "Do you believe Magnus is allowing Dahlia some time off at the moment?" "Do you believe the Shadow Beast will pause for you to

A pounding ache filled my head as I opened my eyes. The world whirled for an instance, yet I succeeded in concentrating. I was no longer in the forest. Instead, I discovered that I was lying on a harsh stone floor, encircled by flickering torches. "Daisy, you’re up." Kai's voice showed a blend of annoyance and relief. I raised myself gradually, letting out a groan. "What transpired?" "And where exactly are we?" Kai knelt next to me, his eyebrows knitted together. "That wolf knocked you out completely." Elias and I hardly succeeded in taking you with us." Elias’s voice could be heard from a location close by. “We didn’t escape.” "It allowed us to depart." I looked over to find him propped up against the wall, arms folded. His typical tranquility was swapped for something more intense, more watchful. "Did it allow us to leave?" I inquired, puzzled. “Why would it act that way?” Before anyone had a chance to respond, a deep growl resonated throughout the room. I hurried to stand up

The forest appeared more shadowy than earlier, the dense canopy overhead obstructing much of the light. I trailed right behind Lucian, while Elias and Kai were positioned beside me on both sides. Each step seemed more burdensome, as if the forest was intentionally hindering our progress. "Where precisely are we headed?" I inquired, attempting to maintain my composure. "To the convergence point," Lucian answered without looking back. His tone was serene, overly serene for a person guiding us into what appeared to be a snare. "And what occurs at this...intersection?" Kai inquired, his voice laden with distrust. Lucian eventually halted and faced us, his gray eyes sharp. "That's the point where we take our position." Dahlia’s troops will assemble there. "We must be prepared." "Prepared for what?" Elias folded his arms. "A conflict?" A bargaining process? "You don’t seem to be clear on the specifics." Lucian angled his head a bit, his demeanor puzzling. “Either one, if needed.” “How

The clearing burst into disorder. The Shadow Beast charged at Lucian with frightening speed, its enormous claws cutting through the atmosphere. He narrowly avoided it, tumbling to the side and ending up in a crouched position. His breathing was labored, yet his gaze was focused with resolve. "Daisy!" “Keep going!” he yelled, his voice piercing through the chaos of combat. I paused for an instant, caught between hurrying to help him and maintaining my path. Dahlia’s laughter reverberated through the air, sending a shiver down my back. “Oh, don’t fret over him, dear sister,” Dahlia shouted, her voice laced with spite. "I’ll handle both of you before long." She lifted her hands, and the earth below us moved unnaturally. Roots emerge from the ground, twisting and wriggling like snakes. They struck out at everyone around them, prompting me to jump back. “Go, Daisy!” Kai's voice sliced through the turmoil. He and Elias were engaged in a fierce battle against two of Dahlia's followers,

The frigid night breeze bit at my skin as Rowan and I emerged from the crumbling chamber. My lungs ached, and my legs seemed heavy as lead, yet we continued to run. The ruins behind us grated and fell apart, sending echoes through the shadowy woods. Rowan pulled at my arm, his tone cutting. "Continue on, Daisy!" "I’m making an effort!" I gasped for breath, stumbling over a protruding root. His hand reached out swiftly, stopping me just before I fell. We halted for a brief moment, both gazing at the shining light far away. The fragments of the Eclipse Stone had reassembled, and the Alpha of Alphas was taking in its energy. His roar combined victory and fury, vibrating the earth below us. "We can't confront him in this way," Rowan whispered. “I understand,” I responded. “However, we also cannot abandon him.” “We require a strategy,” he stated, his tone tense with urgency. “Then let’s create one,” I said, standing up. The forest was disturbingly silent as we moved ahead. Each noi

The darkness was overwhelming, compressing against my skin and dragging me further down. I attempted to dig my way out, but there was nothing to hold onto, no solid ground underneath me. Simply an infinite emptiness. “Daisy…” The sound originated from all directions and yet from none simultaneously. It was profound, authoritative, and strangely recognized. “Who are you?” I yelled. My voice felt tiny, unimportant. “You have shattered the seal.” “You disturbed me,” it answered. "Then allow me to resolve it!" I shouted, panic gripping my heart. “You are unable to repair what has been set free,” the voice remarked. "However, maybe you can alter its direction." Light cut through the darkness, harsh and chilling. When I blinked awake, I found myself no longer in the chamber. I found myself in the center of a thick forest, the air heavy with fog. Shadows danced among the trees, observing, anticipating. “What is this location?” I mumbled. “A location amid realms,” the voice stated.

A brilliant light erupted all around me, and for an instant, I believed I had died. My body felt airy, floating in an infinite expanse of silver and white. “Daisy…” The voice resonated, gentle yet authoritative. It wasn’t him, Marcus. It definitely wasn’t Rowan. "Who is it?" I called out, my voice shaking. “The destiny of the pack rests in your hands,” the voice declared. "Yet destiny can break, just as trust can." I spun around, looking for the person who spoke, but the light started to dim. The icy stone ground under my feet reappeared, and the room reshaped itself around me. The Eclipse Stone throbbed in my grasp. My palm felt scorched as if it had melded with my skin. “Daisy!” Rowan’s voice pierced the disorder. I quickly raised my head to catch sight of him and Marcus battling a tide of Forgotten Ones. Kieran stepped back, grinning as if he had already triumphed. “What are you holding out for?” Marcus shouted, his voice strained from the exertion. The Neglected Ones adv

The woods seemed infinite, their shadows shifting with each stride I made. “Daisy!” I came to a sudden halt, my heart racing at the sound of Rowan’s voice. He stepped out from the trees, his expression severe yet resolute. "You didn't believe I would let you leave by yourself, did you?" he inquired, regaining his breath. “This isn’t your battle,” I remarked, although relief washed over me at his arrival. "It's a battle we all share," he responded. "Additionally, you would be disoriented in five minutes if I were not here." I sighed dramatically, though he wasn't incorrect. "Okay." However, we must act quickly. “The Neglected Ones are approaching.” We advanced, the trees becoming sparser as the te

The clearing was still, unsettlingly so, following the burst of light that had engulfed Dahlia’s last effort. A hollow sensation filled my chest as I reeled back to join the others. The Rogue King had vanished into the darkness, leaving me solitary with the burden of what had just occurred. The campsite was in disarray. Wolves were disputing, arms being honed, and it felt like everyone recognized the delicate brink we were teetering on. However, there was something amiss, something I couldn’t quite identify. Rowan encountered me midway, his complexion ashen. "Daisy, can you tell me what occurred?" "Where is Dahlia?" I was unable to find the right words. "She... she remained back." “To halt them.” He stood still, his jaw clenching. “And you simply abandoned her?” “I had no options!” I broke down, the guilt already overwhelming me. “People always claim that,” he mumbled, yet his gaze softened when he noticed the tears forming in my eyes. "We'll bring her back." “We must.” Before

The deafening roar of the Forgotten Ones echoed as they entered the clearing. I stopped, trapped between anxiety and the burden of my previous choice. Dahlia pushed me back behind her, her eyes glowing with resolve. “Keep your distance,” she commanded, her voice slicing through the turmoil like a knife. “Absolutely not!” I objected, advancing forward. "We're in this as a team!" She spun around, holding onto my arm firmly. “Not this occasion, Daisy.” You must have faith in me. "I will keep them at bay." "Dahlia" "No debates!" Her tone allowed no possibility for disagreement. "Reach the Rogue King." Have him battle for us. "If he fails to do so, everything here is irrelevant." I tightened my fists, resenting how fear surged in my chest. "You can't accomplish this by yourself!" “Look at me,” she said, an intense grin pulling at her mouth. She glanced at the Rogue King, who was a few steps away, arms crossed as he watched the turmoil. "This is your chance," Dahlia shouted to him.

Her eyes locked onto me, her complexion wan. "I never considered this in advance!" “Fantastic!” "That's reassuring," I whispered, pivoting to confront the approaching danger. The atmosphere buzzed with electricity as the Forgotten Ones descended in a semi-circle around us. Their shapes glimmered, coalescing into entities of ethereal elegance and malevolence. The leader moved ahead, the identical figure we had met in the room. “You’ve roused us,” it declared, its tone cutting and frigid. "Now demonstrate your value." "How can it be proven?" I inquired, attempting to conceal the quiver in my voice. The figure's radiant eyes fixed on me. "Endure." The earth

The feeling of falling did not cease. My body whirled through a realm of light and darkness, while Dahlia's hold on my hand was the sole connection keeping me grounded in reality. "Where are we headed?" I called out amid the tumult of the unfamiliar. “Where it all started,” Dahlia stated enigmatically, her complexion ashen yet resolute. "Can you be more specific for once?" I snapped in response, fear rising beneath my words. Before she had the chance to reply, the void expelled us, and we fell onto firm earth. My knees struck the ground, and the metallic scent of the air assaulted my senses like a blow. I glanced up, anticipating greater disorder. Instead, we found ourselves encircled by massive black stone columns inscribed with old runes. A thick, haunting fog wrapped around the base of every monolith, shimmering softly with an unnatural glow. "Where is this location?" I inquired, getting back on my feet. Dahlia remained silent.
