Chapter 30

Reed POV

I raised my hand to knock on the office door, but before I could, I heard Mom’s soft voice. “Come on in, boys.”

Mom was seated on one end of the couch she had in the office curled up with a cup of tea in her hands. Dad was standing by the small bar behind the desk. “Before we get started boys, how strong of a drink am I going to need for this talk?”

Lucas and I sit ourselves down in the two wingback chairs that sit across from the couch. I turned towards Dad to answer him. “Well, we haven’t done anything wrong, we just have some questions about a couple of things that have happened. So you choose.”

Dad lets out a long sigh, grabs four glasses, a bottle of scotch and makes his way over to the couch beside Mom. He places the glasses down, pours roughly two shots into each glass, hands one to Mom as she sits forward and places her tea cup on the table. He passes one to each Lucas and I, saying as he does, “By the looks on your faces, you may need this too.” He then leans bac
