Chapter 148

Reed POV

Dad turns towards us from where we had stepped to the side of the hall to allow Mac to pass. “Come on in boys,” Dad says as he waves us through the door. He sits down, puts his elbows on his desk and starts to rub his temples.

“Dad, what was that all about? What’s going on? We know you’ve been stressing about something.” Lucas blunts out as soon as we’re seated.

Dad gets up, grabs the bottle of whiskey from the cabinet, grabs three glasses, and sits in one of the wing-back chairs over by the fireplace. Lucas and I walked over to join him. I watch as he pours a glass for each of us, downs his and pours another before sitting back. “There has been an increase of hunter activity in Europe over the past few weeks or so, mainly in Italy, Spain and Greece.”

“Spain, as in where Meg is?” I asked, starting to get worried about Meg.

“Meg is in Scotland right now. She finished her program last month.”

“Does Quinn know? He has been waiting so long for her to come back.” I’m starting to g
