Luna Mona POV We all sat there silently staring at the picture on the table for a few minutes while the information that I just gave the boys sinks in. Reed suddenly grabs the folder of information from Meg off the table and starts skimming through the notes. He flipped back and forth between the pages, making sure he was reading things right. He looked up at me, then at Lucas, then back to the folder. I watch as a huge grin spreads across his face. He looked at Lucas again. “They couldn’t mark them back.” Lucas looks at Reed. “What?” He asks in confusion. “All the previous set of twins’ mates..." Reed says, pointing at the folder in his hand. "...were either humans or witches,” Reed states, staring at his brother waiting for it to click in. Lucas’s eyes went wide. He grabbed the folder from Reed's hand, flipping through the pages the same way his brother had. “They couldn’t fully complete...” “The bond,” Reed finishes. “But Heather...” Lucas “Has her wolf...” Reed “And as lon
Reed POV The one thing that pulled me out of the drinking that started back when we first messed up with Heather was reading that file about us all dying. It took a bit, but when I finally realized that there was a way to break the curse, I knew I had to straighten myself out and get Lucas on board with the plan. I thought that if I was good enough and could get Heather to forgive us, we could stop the curse. Now, I’m starting to have doubts again. I watch the golden brown liquid go around as I swirl it in the glass. A hand stretches in front of my face, taking the glass from my hand. “No matter what we decide, which I think, we have kind of already have, this...” Lucas gives the glass a small shake. “...is not going to fix or change anything for the good.” Closing my eyes, I let out a sigh and leaned back on the couch, locking my fingers behind my head. Knowing he’s right, I try to refocus my thoughts. Moving my hands to my lap and keeping my head on the back of the couch, I turned
Heather POV I was sitting on my bed leaning against the headboard looking over my notes again when there was a knock on my bedroom door followed by Rene asking if she could come in. “Yeah,” I answered as I felt my cheeks heat from the blush that was creeping up, which got worse when Sean walked in behind her. Rene sat on the side of my bed facing me while Sean took a seat on my desk chair. Was that a hint of pink I saw on his cheeks? Interesting. We all sat there in silence for a few seconds before all busting into a round of ‘I’m sorry’ at the same time, causing us all to chuckle. Once our chuckling died down, Rene leaned forward, placing her hand on my calf. “Heather, you have nothing to be sorry about. We should not have been doing what we were doing where we were doing it for you to have been able to walk in on us. We’re sorry.” “It’s ok. It’s not like I haven’t seen you guys kiss and cuddle before, you just usually have more clothes on.” I say, looking down at my hands that are
Heather POV It's been about three weeks since the twins left with Jacob and Zane to help search for Meg and the other kidnapped wolves. I was hoping and not hoping at the same time that they would have been back before I left for school. I still trying to make up my mind as to how I want to do things. I know that the attraction is there. There is no denying that. I know what Indigo wants to do. She hasn't shut up about it since she learned what options we have. She wants to find out if Rory and Laydon want us and accept them as soon as possible. I am just not sure if that would be best for us. And I will admit that I'm scared to find out if they want us or not. I think they do. Like I said the attraction is there, but is that enough to risk my heart on? “It’s a good thing you decided not to become one of the pack's elite warriors, but then again the enemy would just get bored and leave, waiting for your slow, sorry ass,” Dean yells out as Nolan is finally packing the last of his stuf
Heather POV Without turning around or putting up my window, I hit Nolan’s number on the quick dial of the car. Nolan picks up on the second ring. “Hey, girl, what’s up? Where are you? I haven’t seen your car for a bit.” I let out a sigh. “Good, you’re ok.” “What’s the matter?” He asks. “There was an accident. There is a car trapped under the branches of a tree that has fallen across the road. The car is the same colour as yours. I just wanted to make sure it wasn’t you. There are workers here clearing it, but they're sending me on a detour around it. I’m not sure how much time that is going to add.” I said, looking at the worker that was still standing at my window. “I will add about thirty minutes, give or take,” he said. “Nolan, did you hear that?” I asked as I nodded thanks to the man. “I heard. You’re still buying the pizza. I’ll see you when you get there. Call if you get lost.” He says, cutting the call. I waved to the worker and made a U-turn. Just as I was getting back
Reed POVThis can’t be happening. I can’t breathe. Oh Goddess, is this what it is like to have a panic attack? I can hear Lucas yelling, but I have no clue what he is saying. I just spent the last three weeks watching Quinn fall apart as every lead we had to find Meg fell through. Now they have Heather. What the hell has our pack done to deserve this much grief? The whole room goes quiet, and I jump to my feet when Dad’s cell starts ringing. We were all standing in Alpha Sean's office waiting for news. Dad had driven down to Blue Ridge to meet us here when we stopped to drop off Luna Rene, Jacob and Zane. We can see the caller ID flashing Nolan’s number. Please, let it be good news, Heather has already been missing for over twelve hours. Dad answers the phone, putting it on speaker. I hold my breath as Nolan’s voice comes through the speaker, “It’s not good guys. We talked to one of the locals. He drives a tow truck in the area. He said he talked to Heather, he saw her parked at the s
Possible Trauma Triggers Heather POV Oh fuck. I think this feels worse than the last time I did some intense sparring with Jacob and Zane. Everything is sore, including my head. I don’t even want to open my eyes. Things are fuzzy. My brain is trying to piece together what happened. I remember something hitting my car. The airbags went off and something was injected into my neck just before I caught the hint of a familiar scent. I just didn't have time to place it. Without opening my eyes, I try to access the room I'm in by sound and scent. I can tell that I’m in a bed which is not the most comfortable but not bad at the same time. The room smells clean, but dusky at the same time. There’s a good chance I’m not in a basement then. After slowly opening my eyes and letting them adjust to the light, I did a scan of the room. It’s not a large room similar in size to a small hotel room. There are two doors to my left. One is most definitely a closet and the other seems to be a bathroom by
Possible Trauma Triggers Heather POVShaking my head to try and clear the fuzziness. I started thinking of my options. I can’t give up yet. Mustering up all the strength I have, I bit down on Keegan’s side where I could reach with the way he is carrying me. “FUCK!” He yells as he throws me to the ground out of shock. As soon as I hit the ground, I swung with all I had, hitting Keegan in the crotch again. I spring to my feet and run the fastest I think I have ever run in my life. As I’m running, I pull the hair tie out of my pocket and rub it on my face where the blood from my split lip is running. I feel some relief when my feet hit the water. I had almost made it up the other side when I was tackled into the mud on the bank's edge. I throw the hair tie as far up the bank as I can. I can feel my body being dragged down the bank and into the water. Keegan is yelling something, but I can’t understand him because he keeps pushing me under the water. I don't know if he is trying to kill
