Lucas POV “Hey guys glad you made it.” Carter had a huge forced and fake smile plastered on his face. “Did you enjoy the first act of the show? I know the second wasn’t so great.” Carter is so much out of character right now that I'm surprised that the rest of his own pack members aren't looking at him funny. As Carter talked to us, he shook our hands. He's shaking them so enthusiastically that it feels as if he is trying to pull my arm out of the shocket. “Well, I should go make sure Liam is behaving himself. Hope you have a good time. It was nice to see you again if you end up leaving, without saying, good that’s ok.” With that, he walked off. “Ok, did that feel as... odd to you as it did to me? Did it sound as if he was hinting at us to leave? Why would he want us to leave so soon when he was the one that said we should be here?” I asked as I turned to see Reed looking at a piece of paper in his hand. “What is it?” “Carter passed it to me when he shook my hand.” I stepped in be
Possible Trauma TriggersHeather POVKeegan stood up, placed the washcloth on the nightstand beside my empty glass and leaned over me, placing his hands on either side of me on the bed. “I see you finished your drink. Do you want a refill?” I shook my head no. The smile he was giving me was starting to unnerve me. There is something very wrong. Come on, Heather focus. I told myself. “Ok, but I have another idea about what we can do. I know you enjoy our make-out sessions. We can start the whole friendship thing tomorrow. Just one more night of a little bit of fun.” He lightly brushed his lips with mine.I leaned away from him. "I don't know if that is a good idea, Keegan."He leaned in again, placing another small kiss on my lips."Please," he pleaded. "Think of it as a good-bye make-out session." I lost focus on what he was saying for a few seconds. My mind going a little fuzzy. So when I didn’t protest, he pushed a little harder, causing me to lie back onto the bed. "Or you could jus
Reed POVWhen I heard that scream from Heather, there was nothing anyone could have done to stop me from getting to her. The sight that met my eyes stopped me cold in my tracks and I stared for what seemed like hours. Keegan had Heather pinned to the wall beside the window. He had her hands held in one of his and stretched up so high she had no way of fighting back. Her dress that had looked so beautiful on her earlier lay in a pile of ripped material on the floor at her feet. There were tear stains on her cheeks and her hair looked matted from what I’m assuming was the result of it being pulled. I know Heather had shown a liking to being dominated, but she was not enjoying this. If that scream wasn't enough to prove that, the wave of fear that was coming from her would be. The combined roar that Lucas and I let lose shook the whole room. “Get Heather. I’ll get him.” I linked to Lucas as I stalked my prey. As we came closer, Keegan let go of Heather and I watched as she started to slu
Lucas POVI followed Reed inside. We followed the Doctor to the room he had set up. I watched as Reed lay Heather on the bed in the exam room. That was when I noticed the tears on his cheeks. This was killing him. Hell it was killing me. I’m just hoping we were quick enough to stop him. Dad put his arm around my shoulder, then Reed’s, turning us to leave the room. Reed started to put up a bit of a fuss but Dad just shook his head. "Mom will stay with her. She is in good hands." Mom stayed as Dad led us to some chairs in the waiting room, then sat down across from us.He let out a sigh. “I need to know what happened.” Dad said, leaning forward. I could hear the pain and fury in his tone. For the next twenty minutes, Reed and I replayed tonight’s events to Dad, starting with Carter approaching us at the school. When we were finished, Dad sat back in his chair rubbing his hands over his face. “Where is the glass now?”“It’s in the cup holder in the back seat.”Dad looked over to the orde
Luna Mona POV“Is she awake?” Lucas quickly asked, barely keeping the question under a yell.I put a hand on his shoulder. “She is still drifting in and out of consciousness. Dr. Beal took some blood for testing. From the exam that he did, she is not physically injured. Dr. Beal said that she needs to rest until the drugs have worked their way out of her system, then she will need to drink lots of water. Dr. Beal said that as long as you can keep your tempers...” I glanced between the two of them. “... under control you can go be with her.Reed and Lucas made their way into Heather’s room. As they disappeared through the door, I wrapped my arms around Shane’s waist, buried my face in his chest and let out the tears I’d been holding back. We just stood in the middle of the waiting room wrapped in each other’s embrace while I got myself under control. With one last deep breath, I leaned back and tilted my face up to look at Shane. “Did you find out what happened?”Shane gently wipes the
Heather POVThe next time I woke up I was in bed by myself. I was lying on my side. The blankets were pulled right up to my chin surrounding me in the scents of cool crisp fresh mint, Reed and smooth rich creamy hot chocolate, Lucas, but there seemed to be another scent attached to them that I couldn’t identify. Did they have a girlfriend? Maybe they found their mate? I gave my head a shake. It wasn’t something I wanted to think about right now. I flipped back the covers, swung my legs over the side of the bed and sat up. Whatever drug Keegan had given me seems to have worn off. I didn't have that heavy can't move feeling anymore. Just a little bit of dizziness, but that could be from sitting up too fast and a lack of food. I scanned the room. I’m alone at the moment. Looking over the edge of the bed down to the floor, why do they have to make things so high? Not wanting to jump if my legs aren’t as stable as I think, I roll to my stomach, sliding down till my feet touch the floor. I
Lucas POVThe second time that Reed and I woke up, I had linked Janice to see if she would be willing to make grilled cheese and tomato soup for Heather for lunch. I know it’s one of her favourite meals. After listening to what Dr. Beal had found out from Heather's bloodwork, we all made our way back to the pack house. Mom took Heather up to our apartment through the private entrance. Dad, Reed and I had made stops at Dad's office and the kitchen before going to the apartment. Dad had wanted to grab his laptop and print off the reports from Dr. Beal. In the kitchen, we picked up the soup and sandwiches that Janice had made. Janice was a little disappointed that Heather wasn’t with us but we explained that she wasn’t feeling the greatest but it was nothing to worry about. Walking through the door, I caught a glimpse of Heather going into her room at the top of the stairs. Yeah, we still call it her room. “Hey boys.” Mom called us. “I've turned the oven on low as instructed by Janice so
Possible Trauma TriggersHeather POVI made my way downstairs. No one noticed me at first, so I just stood there watching the scene in front of me. Mona was standing at the counter plating sandwiches. Shane was standing behind her with his arms wrapped around her waist while he kissed up and down her neck, making her giggle. What really got my attention though were the changes in Reed and Lucas. I watched as the muscles in their backs stretched the material of their shirts. The way their forearms that I had admired my first day here flexed as they carried things to the table were causing thoughts to appear in my mind that shouldn’t be there. In the last three years, they have done a lot more growing. They seemed to be larger than Shane. I had thought they were massive before, but now. I know we are taught in school that when we go through our first shifts and wolf genes kick in more, and there are a lot of physical changes that happen to our human bodies. I guess I just never paid muc
