Lyra(Mia’s)POV

Well, that wasn't unexpected. But surprising nonetheless.

At least Laura wasn't a total failure, she had managed to yank the paper right in the middle of the bin with the old company of shred fabric pieces, other unwanted design and the remains of an apple that had just been chewed on.

I looked between her and the dustbin that was a couple of metres away from where she sat.

“Move away already! Why are you holding up the line?” Someone behind me groaned in protest. I didn't get to see the protester but I was hurt by his words nonetheless.

My face hung in shame as I turned around.

“You better not come back here unless you have a better design.”

“Keep walking,” I whispered to myself. If I turned my back for more than a second, my fist was surely going to end up in her jaw.

Why did she just have to get on my nerves? They were a lot of people she could have picked on? She should just leave me alone!

“What an embarrassment!” Laura mocked. “Everyone come and see your Luna

Damion’s POV A week had passed, and it was time for the presentation. The investors were already in the conference room, waiting for the showcase of our best designs.I stayed in the office trying to keep my heart settled. But I didn't know what was more difficult; assuring myself the designs are perfect or walking to the conference room where my guests were seated patiently. “They are waiting for you. Come on already,” Logan said, bursting into my office. “I am running out of excuses and so is their patience.” I had taken the excuse of having to use the restroom so I could use the restroom for a bit. It was a lie. I had been seated in my chair for the past five minutes in deep thought. “You think I don't know that?” I snapped. “Then what is it?” “I don't think we are going to win them over. It's a shame that we had this great chance and somehow managed to make a mess of ourselves,” I groaned. “Oh come on. Your words are nothing but an insult from a man who doesn't have any fai

Lyra(Mia’s)POV.My palms were getting sweaty. Having all those eyes pointed in my face made me rethink coming in here. I had trusted my instincts yet again; my instincts coupled with some motivation from Sandra. If Logan wasn't going to let me in, I was going to let myself in; that's the mindset that had ended me up in this pickle. I took a glance at where I was. A couple of steps away from me to the side of the room, I could spot the other designers staring at me. They were bitter, standing besides there rejected work. They must be hoping my work would turn out the same way as theirs, especially Laura. I saw Logan walking over to me and I froze. He had a curt smile which I couldn't place if it was genuine or not. “Hi,” I managed to mutter without cracking my voice.“Don't bother with the pleasantries,” he snapped. “Just make sure you bring this home. If you mess this up more than this, you are going to walk out of the door and never come back.”“Great motivation, Logan!” I mutter

Damion’s POV. A barge into my office startled me. I was just getting into my nap, but the noise shot my soul straight from my body. I only relaxed when I saw the intruder was Logan. “Are you trying to give me a heart attack?” He walked into the room with raised cheeks and a wide smile. “Have you read the new bulletin for today?” I rubbed off what remained of slumber in my eyes. “No, I haven't. Should I be worried?” He sighed, placing a tablet in front of me. “I'm not going to ruin the fun for you. Go through it yourself.” He didn't have to say it. As soon as that tablet landed on the table, I pulled it toward myself and began scrolling. The first headline caught my eye. "NEW BREAKTHROUGH TALENT STUNS THE FASHION WORLD; PURE TALENT IN AN UNLIKELY PLACE!" Right below it was a picture of Mia smiling. I recalled that image. It was taken on the night of her coronation. Just beside her was a picture of the dress she had presented. It was trending. All the top

Lyra(Mia’s)POV This man's lips were soft. He held me close enough to feel his heart strumming against mine. Should he let me go? Hell no! If there was a way we could get any closer than this, I would not mind. If he pulled me any closer, he would for sure crush me under his grip. My hands went over his shoulders as I held him close. His body felt familiar, felt perfect against mine. It was a raw, sensual entwining. How could I feel this much attachment to a man who had just bullied me a couple of minutes ago? I knew damn well he was a heartless cheat, but still, I was clinging to him like my life depended on it. His tongue reached deep, fighting for dominion. I was the helpless maiden craving more. He conquered me, and I submitted. I tugged at his clothes, trying to rip them off his skin. I wanted more, and I needed it quickly. I wanted to feel those rigid outlines that always tensed up under his chest whenever he was losing his mind. I wanted to run my hands along his

Damion’s POV I have been holding it in for too long. My feelings toward Mia have been like a rash that wouldn't go away no matter which ointments I applied. I was not used to feeling this way about a woman. The only feelings my heart had known to process until this moment were lust. Love was not on the cards for me, especially toward the woman I hated the most in the world. “What?” she asked, and I lifted my chin to look at her. It was hard enough that I confessed. Had this change not shown up, I would have probably ended up bottling it in for the rest of my life. But her question had struck the well deep enough to bring forth a pool of my secrets. “It's the only explanation for this unusual desire I have toward you. It's like I want you to be mine and mine only. I hate this feeling. I want it to go away, and I hope if I fight it long and well enough, it will eventually ease off,” I struggled to confess. This wasn't a feeling that had begun from the moment I kissed her. It

Xander's POV He who tickles the balls of the tiger should be ready to wrestle. That is a popular saying, and most of the time, it gives a glimpse into what is going to happen. But it wasn't what happened in my case. Damion had formed his own pack and had tried to take over my business. I had promised to strike back, but I had been impotent at fighting against the pressure. I had promised that I would show him a violent side of myself, but I had failed to fight back. He had walked into my pack and trampled on me. And I didn't have a say. How much weaker could I prove myself to be? Just when I thought I had my peace, someone rushed into the room without bothering to knock. I looked up to see Nyla at the door, walking toward me. “You have become lazy, Xander. You have indoors all day. Are you not aware you're supposed to be coordinating affairs around the office?” “Don't bother me with your yapping this afternoon, Nyla,” I snapped. “If you don't have something important t

Lyra(Mia’s) POV.A day in the office was everything you would expect. It was hectic to the core. The demand for drafts were alarming and the workload threatened to break my shoulders. I barely got the chance to get up and have myself a feel of lunch. I had to eat my bagel at my table. I was working twice as hard as everyone else at work and that was no pun intended. Everyone was looking up to me to maintain my fame and the only way to do that was to milk out more beautiful designs. “You look like you're about to pass out,” Sandra sympathised with me. “Where the hell is the Alpha? He is the one who is supposed to handle all these schedules, not you.” I sighed in resignation. “I don't have any reason to complain or question his actions. I'm just doing what is expected from me, my job!” I had a feeling that something wasn't right with Alpha Damion. It was unlike him to stay away from work, worst of all to stay away from work on a day when he has all these important meetings.“This i

Damion's POV I turned around in my bed restlessly. Being locked up in my room all morning was not the best kind of treatment, but it was the only way I could keep myself in check. I got down from the bed, unable to get any rest. I paced around the room, which was awfully quiet. It was more like a bunker than a room. There was only one way in and out, and the door could only be opened from the outside. It was stocked to the brim with snacks and as many groceries as I needed for the night. That was all I would need for the night. There was nothing I didn't have…well, except for liquor. My mother was of the opinion that it was better to go through the night without getting my head riled up. All I had that connected me to the other side of the bunker door was a button that sat at the top of my bedstead. One push, and a maid would find her way in here.Ohh well…I am being imprisoned. And it is for the greater good of everyone.Sad to say what the reason was,“But I am a monster.”

Damion's POV You’d think I would be the last man on earth to take responsibility for what happened. You’d think that even after finding out all that had happened from Logan, I would let my pride win—that I would tell her off as usual. But I couldn't. Logan had told me everything. There was no confusion about what happened. It was hard to explain, just like the moment when I had felt her call out to me. But I had heard her. It was loud and clear. It was like a calming touch. Her voice was the string that was pulling me to the surface. It was the shield that came to my aid, keeping the beast away. I waited for her to say something, but shock had taken hold of her. She was gone. "Everyone, clear the room!" I commanded. No one dared to linger a second longer before storming out. "I know what happened. I owe my life to you, and I’m not going to act like that doesn’t count for something." "You’re sorry for what exactly?" "For pushing you away, for annoying you in anger

Lyra(Mia’s)POVI sat in the dark car that had brought me here. The only difference was that Logan was driving, and I was with the man responsible for everything that was going on—Xander. Logan couldn’t stop taking shots at him. “Oh, you are so dead, Mr. Smart.” “Let me get this straight. So after you had declared that you had nothing to do with Xander, you are spotted with him. Do you lie for a living, or are you just trying to piss off Damion?” “You can’t ask me any questions.” After all, he had been there when everything was falling apart. He could have stepped up to rescue me. “Just take us to the damn palace.” He did me a favor and kept mute until we got to the palace. Damion was still in his silk bed, but he looked a lot more worn than when I had last left him. I stood in front of Damion, counting my toes. Xander stood beside me. It was a strange mystery how he still handled it all with confidence. Either Damion was feeling merciful, or he was feeding off the fact that he

Lyra(Mia’s)POV I can't believe it. I had put so much effort into making sure that he was in good health. I never would have expected that he would play down all of my sacrifices. I was pissed, to say the least. The anger was boiling up, but that didn't take away the fact that I was still thinking about how he was feeling. So much for caring about him. The hospital had gotten toxic for me. I could understand his mother being ungrateful, but I expected more from him. Selling me out like that should have never been an option. I didn't care about the injury on me anymore. Instead of returning to my hotel room, I slipped on a hoodie and headed out of the hospital. I had just made it out of the hospital when I saw a car standing close to the hospital gate. I immediately recognized it as Xander's. It couldn’t have been him… The windows were down, and my biggest fears were confirmed. He stepped out of the car and began walking toward me. “How the hell did you get in here?” I asked, b

Damion’s POV “Good riddance to bad rubbish!” my mother fumed under her breath as Mia closed the door. She was spiteful. But something about the whole thing made me feel like what just happened was the wrong decision. “But Mother, what you did was too harsh.” “Come off it, Damion . I don't know if that evil woman attempted to use some kind of spell on you while you were asleep. Don't forget she is not looking out for your good.” That didn’t sound right, even to a heartless man like me. If she didn’t care one bit, she wouldn’t have come to watch over me despite her injuries. It was absurd to see that she would put herself in such a position. Logan walked closer after I turned to him. I noticed that beneath the usual excitement he appeared to have, he hesitated, visibly troubled. “Leave!” he instructed the nurse before turning to me after she had left. “What is it?” “Tell me all about what happened.” “You transformed,” Logan began. But my mother wouldn’t let him finish. “Don’

Damion’s POV Every part of my body was hurting. My legs felt like they were about to split in half anytime soon. Even the slightest movement was sending signals that shot through my nerves, making even breathing a struggle. I could hear a steady beeping sound in the background and the chatter of people. They didn't sound near, but their jumbled discussions were not clear enough. The light hit hard as I slowly lifted my eyelids. It took a couple of seconds and blinks to finally acclimate to the intrusion of light. "Where am I?" I managed to mutter. The answer was before me. All I could see was white—sheets and emptiness. There was no one in sight as far as my eyes could stretch. Sitting up would have given me a better chance to see the room, but my arms felt like a thousand grams were pressing down on them. I decided to lift a finger, but a sharp pain immediately repelled me. The thick smell of antiseptic whipped my nostrils, leading me to let out a sharp sniff. My eyes took i

Lyra(Mia’s)POVThat was loud enough to wake up anyone who was asleep—that is, if there was a slim chance that anyone would fall into slumber despite the chaos going on. I shut my ears and jumped back as the noise left his lips. My first thought—that he was about to attack—had been debunked, so I moved closer, lifting his hairy face to meet mine. Damion blinked. And for the briefest moment, his red eyes flickered back to gray. My heart leaped in hope that he was coming back. But then a loud horn sounded. I looked back sharply to see Logan at the back end of the loud horn. It was his signal to let me know he was on standby. “No, wait. Don’t fire. He is back to normal,” I yelled out in plea. But my voice fell on deaf ears. “Fire!” he commanded. Immediately, the little darts poked out of the guns and were headed right at us. I heard the grunts but quickly focused on the darts as they blew through the air. They came in from all directions mercilessly. “No,” I screamed as I watched t

Lyra(Mia’s)POVI should have fled. At that moment, I regretted everything that led me up to this moment. If I could turn back the hands of time, I would have made sure to run away as fast as I could. Just looking at those eyes was enough to chase away any atom of conviction I had managed to muster. But there was no turning back—his eyes were locked onto mine. If I made any attempt to move, I would be the best target. “Please, Damion. You need to stop with this madness. You are hurting people. You need to stop.” I made sure to yell at the top of my lungs. But I was even more sure that my message didn't get to him. If anything, it bounced off as soon as it hit his ears. He kept charging forward. The ground chimed as he kept taking heavy steps closer. All he did was inhale as he walked closer. I wasn’t just calling out to him—I had a plan. And it was a great one if he would stick to me. I was hoping to ensure I stuck this blade into his chest. “Damion!” I screamed. “You don’t want

Lyra(Mia's)POVPeople were getting lesser and lesser by the minute. They had a choice. It was either they are wound up in a pile on the ground at Damion’s feet, or they were fleeing for their loved ones. You wouldn’t wanted to end up on the latter list, but it was hard to get that line of luck when an obvious beast like Damion was on the loose. Fewer people meant that soon enough, I would have his attention on me. “Oh great, you are here,” I heard someone say behind me. I turned to see Damion's mother. She was accompanied by Logan, who looked devastated, to say the least. But that didn’t catch my eye as sharply as the fact that they were both empty-handed. “Did you not get the wolfsbane?” I asked. “Are you blind? Do you see any on me?” His mother barked as she kept her voice low. She didn’t want to be heard by her son. Logan jumped in for the rescue. “There is too much crowd. Everyone is more concerned about getting to safety rather than looking for wolfsbane.” “Maybe if she di

Lyra(Mia’s)POV The hallway was a mess. Shrieks welcomed me as people were taking to their heels in all directions. I had to take a step back to avoid getting hit by a girl who couldn't bother to watch where she was heading. I couldn't blame her. I had never seen such a pandemonium in my life. “This is crazy,” I muttered aloud. There were marks on the floor and on the walls, and shattered glass lined the floor just where I was about to plant my foot for the next step. The scent of blood hit my body hard, making me shudder. Bodies lay sprawled and scattered across the ground. Some of them were still quivering, fighting to revive the flickering flame of life, while others lay so alarmingly still. The torches lining the hall flickered erratically, casting eerie shadows over the destruction. This had the vast, written all over it. All around the crime scene were Damion’s footprints and claw imprints. Chaos heralded his presence, and devastation stuck around just after he had left. “
