The new monsters roared with terror and shook the hollow caves of the terminal. The horrific sight of his brothers and sisters in arms tore a hole deep in John’s heart.

“Try not to be too sad about this, dear Captain,” Soundhound said. “This dull, empty town is going to be the first of many cities to add some type of value to their pathetic existence. Granted, they won’t be nearly as glamorous as the real deal, but this pathetic species you call humanity will have a taste of what it means to be significant.”

“This isn’t over,” Taylor threatened while struggling to escape Soundhound’s hold.

“You’re quite right, Mr. Yoshida. This is not over. My employer will still need to siphon enough energy from you before I can give your proper closing. But as for the pesky humans, what do you say we keep them in a
