Ansel heads beck to our tent for an afternoon nap, since he will need to be alert through the night he needs to rest now.
I keep telling myself that this is just for today, and after today the schedule will be different and I will not have to be away from Ansel so much. It is not helping though... My heart hurts being apart from him, I know its only for a few hours, but our Amore bond was was damaged before it even had a chance to grow... Because of the nature of the bond it has a will of its own, it WANT'S to be forged, it is trying to push us together. To be honest, if we were not so busy with the merge, the move, and the start of a war, then the bond would have worked its will over me much faster and more easily.
As it is I am spending the afternoon sitting on the wall, one of the warriors on duty here has a wife who went into labor about an hour ago. I took over for him so that he could go be there for the birth of his child. I don't know what it is l
Alpha Maxwell came up to sit next to me, we have never been super close, but he has always trusted me to do what was best for the pack. I know that he is feeling an aweful lot of emotions at the moment, so I am not sure how this private meeting of ours will go. I have not even had the time to thank him properly for coming to save us from the witch and her army."My Queen, my I make a request before we talk?" He asks."Of course, what is it?" I ask, I am conserned with his tone, he sounds nervous about something."Well, I was hoping that you would be okay with, when we are alone, we could drop the titles and just speak normally? As family?" He asks me."Uncle Maxwell, that is what we have always done... Why would that change now?" I ask him."Now that you are the Queen, I was worried you might not like it anymore... But I was really hoping that we could still be like family." Maxwell says."Agreed, we are f
I talk over a few more things with Alpha Maxwell before he excuses himself to go help set up for the pack meeting we having tonight. I plan to let him run most of the meeting as the Alpha, but as the queen there are a few things that it will be my responcability to address. My shift on guard duty is alost over, I was able to knit 3 baby blankets in the hours I was sitting here. The first one is yellow, with a white trim, the second is pastel, blue with an orange flower in the middle, and the last is a green blanket with a pink flower and a yellow trim. I know there are at least 7 more mothers who are pregnant at the moment, so I will have to make some more, but these are a good start. I plan to give the yellow and white one to the baby that was born today. I am also thinking that maybe I should make some for the babies that are already born, those who came from Ansel's pack, I don't want the children to feel bad later when they figure out that only some have a blanket made by the qu
I am on watch with my Warriors, it feels odd to be on duty on the wall with 2 men as my guards. I want to tell them to go away, that I do not need them to babysit me, but Annie agreed that they should be my guards until I decide who it is that I want as my guards. I can keep these men that Annie and Micheal trust, or I can choose my own guards if I find other men that I trust more. For now I will do what I always do, follow what Annie tell's me to do. Because eventhough I am the King, she is my Queen and I trust her not only with my own life, but with everything that I am as well. She will not onlu take care of my life, and my people, but also my heart, and my soul. I can hear James and Oliver talking and munching on chips. The sounds of them chewing is driving me insane. I just want some peace and quiet. I turn to look up at the stars for a moment, I wish that I was able to remember all those astronomy lessons I took as a child, I was never very good at
I wake up around 4am, the sun has not yet lite up the world, but the wind is howling. I slept in one of the tents last night, Alpha Maxwell and most of the day yesterday moving people into the rooms as they where cleaned out. When I made the lists of the cleaning order for the rooms I put mine last, the rest of the leaders in the pack are right before me. I want the main body of the pack to be housed first before we are. I learned from watching and helping Alpha Maxwell over the last 10 years that this is how a good leader acts, we help the people first, make sure that everyone has what they need and then we take whatever is left over. I change into some clean clothes and leave the tent, I walk into the kitchens looking for coffee. Miss Tilly is already in the kitchen. "What are you doing in here so early?" I ask her. "I am always the first one in the kitchen, it is my job to turn on the oven's and dishwashers, so that they are all warmed up
As the pack starts to wake up I head back to the kitchen so I can talk to Miss Frankie. I know that she will be there making breakfast. "Hey, Miss Frankie... I'm sorry to come get in your way, I just need a few moments of your time." I tell her. "Of course, what can I do for you Queen Annie?" She asks me. "There is a hurricane coming, due to hit in about 24 hours, I have a list here of all the food we have, in every kitchen and cooler and everywhere. What I need from you is a list of what else we need. We have generators here, so we will not loose power, but the stores might, and even if it is only for a few days that means we will not be able to but anything refrigerated for at least a week while we wait for the stores to get deliverys. I am so sorry to drop this on you like this, but I need the list done in 1 hour, I am going to send warriors to the stores in one hour, so please, be ready." I explain to her. "I understand
The next guard shift arrives a few minutes late, the explain that Alpha Maxwell was speaking to them about the upcoming storm, so I let it slide that they were late. I slowly walk down the steps of the wall, and make my way across the grounds to find Annie. I find her in the middle of helping a mother move her 4 children into the castle. They had been staying in one of the large family tent's, we had been trying to move all of the families inside, but it was a slow proccess. As the wind whips throught the castle turrets it causes a loud whistle making the children scream. I chuckle at them as they run past me with their arms full of their bedding. They are helping move their things into the castle, but the winds whistling has caused them to run the wrong way. "Hey there handsome, how was your night?" Annie asks me as she walks up to me with her arms full of tent bags. I take them from her because they are heavy, and I don't like to see her c
I spend all day running around helping the pack get ready for this storm. We move everyone into the dorms we have set up. We move all of the tents and the loose items into the castle as well. I tie down all the bigger item's that we can't take in to the castle, I tie them to the cars, or to the tree's, or to the pillers arround the buildings near the castle. I don't really care about loosing any of these things, most of them can be replaced pretty easiely, but I would be heart broken if one of these items was to fly through the air and kill a child, or a member of my pack. I check on the warriors who are boarding up the windows, thankfully the castle doesn't have any glass over its windows, only the other building within the walls. There are still a lot of windows, but most can be reached from the ground or a small folding ladder. The warriors are making good progress, so I leave them to their work. The castle does have windows, they are just open holes, most o
I take Greyson back down to the dining hall, to check the schedule, if I am remembering right his father, Nolan, is on patrol right now. Whenever his father is on guard duty or patrol his mother, Janet, spends most of her time helping out in the kitchen. She gets worried about Nolan, so she likes to keep busy, Greyson is supposed to be in school with the other first graders, but I think everyone is a little distracted by the hurricane prep we are in the middle of. "Hey, have you seen Janet or Nolan?" I ask a group of warriors that I find gathered in the dining hall chatting. "I think Nolan is on the wall, but Janet is in the kitchen with Miss Frankie, the last of the food just came in, and she was helping find a place to store it all." One of them tells me with a small bow. "Thank you" I answer back and carry Greyson into the kitchen with me to find his mom. His pain killers finally kicked in, so he is no longer hurting, but still, I am bringing h
