"I don't want to marry her. I don't love her," I said, breaking the quietness at the dinner table.
It's been a long time since I raised my voice, let alone shouted at my parents. I could even hear the pounding of my own heartbeat.
I knew it wasn't just me who was surprised to hear my loud voice; even my mother looked at me with wide-eyed astonishment.
"Magnus, sit down now! You will shame our family with such disrespect," Mother shouted, her voice cutting through the night air.
I, not bothered by Mother's outburst, stayed defiant. “All you care just about shame, Mother? It's about my happiness. I won't marry to someone I don't love. I love Sabrina, not Tania,” I insisted, my voice determined.
That’s right. I feel that my words are right because I am protecting my feelings and my future. How could those words come out of my mother's mouth? It only ignited my anger further, making me believe that if I don't stand up for the truth I believe in, then who will?
BAM! Father slammed the table with all his might.
I was startled, and so was Mother. It's rare for Father to slam the table like this.
"Magnus! Watch your attitude! Do you think you're dealing with just anyone here?" Father reprimanded in response to my recent loss of control.
I felt guilty and only muttered, "Sorry. But, I'm not apologizing for not wanting to marry Tania. I only love Sabrina!”
Finally, I said those words. I had never really emphasized my true feelings about Sabrina because, after all, our parents had brought us closer since childhood. But, this time, this moment, I truly felt the need to assert that I had indeed fallen in love with that girl. And I hoped that my sincerity could save me from that absurd forced marriage
"Enough!" Mother interrupted. "Magnus, this marriage is for your own good as the leader of Black Fur. What would happen to your reputation, family, and our pack if they found out an Alpha descendant behaving irresponsibly and immorally, sleeping around before marriage?" Mother asserted firmly.
Before I could even speak, Father added to Mother's words, further cornering me, "Exactly. Just stop your stubbornness and rebellious behavior. We've all prepared for your marriage to Tania. With or without your approval, this marriage will proceed. You just need to show up at the wedding, that's all."
Once again, I was startled to hear my father's words. I couldn't comprehend how those words could come out of the mouths of both my parents, who agreed to corner me, their own child.
I could only sigh heavily, observing the members of the pack who came as guests to my wedding event. Yes, my father and mother managed to persuade me, or more accurately, mentally drag me to attend my wedding with Tania today.
I refused to believe that the figure of the girl in the white dress standing at the end of the aisle was Tania. I blinked several times because, at first, I seemed to see Sabrina, smiling gracefully in her wedding dress.
'Ah, as expected. She looks like she's living a dream,' I thought as I realized that the figure was indeed Tania, smiling happily and seemingly intentionally acting shy. I no longer cared if anyone caught me rolling my eyes in annoyance at the scene. I just wanted this event to be over.
To make matters worse, the wedding processional suddenly started playing by the orchestra group in this church.
I clenched my fingers tightly at my side and tightened my jaw. These were the thrilling moments. Not because I was anticipating Tania's arrival, walking with her coy smile next to her father, but because after this, I officially wouldn't be Sabrina's lover anymore.
A gentle voice from behind startled me, "To the groom, please stand facing the bride."
I was a lamb in the body of my werewolf self. The evidence was this time, I was just obedient. In the next few minutes, my ears seemed to be deaf, listening to the words exchanged between the pastor and Tania. I just followed along, "Yes, I do.” The regrettable words slipped out just as Sabrina appeared in the corner of my eye.
I wanted to turn my head to see Sabrina clearly. Yes, the love of my life just appeared in this room. But, the pastor said, "Now, both of you are officially a married couple, and you are allowed to kiss."
By the time we finished all of this holy whatsoever matrimony, Sabrina was nowhere to be found.
My chest felt painful. I never know that the heartache could be physically hurting like this. Especially when I saw her with that man.
"Damn, why did that damn Alpha come here too?" my mind couldn't contain the boiling anger when I saw the man who came with Sabrina was Tyler, the Alpha from the Silver Fang pack.
I simply ignored all the greetings and congratulations from the guests, members of several other packs, at this wedding party. My gaze was solely focused on Sabrina and every detail of her movements, until finally, the golden opportunity presented itself!
I didn't know what Tania would say, but I refused her hand and chose to say, "Sorry, I want to greet the guests first." Yes, unfortunately, Sabrina was my guest, even though I would prefer her as my bride tonight.
Sabrina, standing alone, seemed to be aware of my arrival. It felt awkward, but I dared to speak up, "I'm glad to see you're okay."
Sabrina smiled sarcastically and replied, "Of course? What do you want? Do I look miserable?"
"No, not at all. Ah, I just want to thank you for coming, but know that I don't want this marriage."
Sabrina didn't seem too interested in listening and chose to focus on the drink in her hand. "Really?" she asked casually.
I looked around before pulling her wrist away from the crowd of guests. A reluctant Sabrina shook off my hand and protested, "What are you doing?!" I quickly apologized and said, "I'm sorry again; I just want to explain what happened. Trust me, this marriage is not a real marriage."
"It doesn't seem like it, though,” Sabrina retorted bluntly.
I swallowed my saliva just to moisten my suddenly constricted throat. Me, an Alpha, the leader of the Black Fur pack, could be rendered silent in front of a girl whose appearance is so gentle like this.
"I understand. I'm hurt too. Know that on that night, I was under the influence of some secret potion, I don't know what,” I explained, trying to voice the truth that I had to articulate with as masculine a voice as possible.
I couldn't clearly read Sabrina's facial expression; it seemed she was ready to accept all of this, but there were also traces of her anger. Despite all that, she still looked exceptionally beautiful.
Unexpectedly, my beloved woman laughed, then turned to me with her sarcastic smile, saying, "Great, just throw your mistakes onto someone and something else.”
“I don’t, Sabrina. Please believe me. That damn potion made me submit to Tania, cause I thought she was you. I see you in her form. That's why when I woke up, I couldn't believe my own eyes that she is that damn Tania. My parents didn't want me to be the jerk who slept with a woman irresponsibly, cause I am an Alpha. So..."
"Enough, Magnus. I'm fine now. It's your problem, and you've already dealt with it, right? Besides, I'm grateful for your betrayal, so I could meet Tyler, my fate mate." Sabrina countered, her words cutting through my heart.
There was a lightning bolt without warning striking my eardrums. That's what I felt when I heard those words just now. She, who had lived all this time to love me, could announce that she's grateful to have found a fate mate other than me?
I couldn't accept all of this.
“If he's destined to be your mate, why doesn't he make you his Luna after meeting him?” I argued.
"What do you care? That’s none of your business. I'm no longer a member of your pack. I don't want to hear your nonsense. Never talk to me again!" My steps halted as I heard the voice of a woman I loved not far from where I stood. And after passing by a pillar of this auditorium building, I could see that the figure confronting her was Alpha Magnus!"But, Sabrina, just listen ..." denied Magnus which was immediately cut off by Sabrina, “In my whole life, I always listen to you. I believe my duty has ended!” My chest throbbed painfully hearing Sabrina's words with her trembling voice. Unconsciously, my legs took a step forward, but I could then regain control of myself by thinking, “If I intervene now, wouldn't I appear selfish and as if I want to control Sabrina? Ah, I better let them settle their past first.""I wish I had the ability to turn back time, Sabrina. I don't know what else I can prove to you that I still love you," Magnus pleaded. I gripped the edge of a plate of tap
"Luna, there's a big problem! Please help us in the Housepack!"I was startled to hear a woman's shout from the courtyard. Who in broad daylight would disturb my peaceful rest?"Luna, can you come with me now?" the voice shouted again when I finally appeared before her."What's wrong?" I asked in a haughty manner. I was Luna now. After all, there was a certain dignity I had to maintain."There was a landslide in the eastern region that caused great damage. The landslide victim refugees have filled the Housepack and we're having trouble accommodating them," the woman replied explaining the situation.I recognized that woman. She was one of the renowned healers. Back then, before I became Luna, my mother and I used to help her at the healing center."Alright, I'll be there right now," I replied, still with a haughty attitude.I then signaled the omegas who were now serving me every day to follow me to Housepack.Arriving there, I was surprised to see so many shabby-looking people fillin
"Thank goodness, Alpha, we have successfully evacuated the victims who could be saved."I heard a shout from one of my subordinates about the success of our evacuation operation."Alright, please provide a proper burial for the deceased victims!" I commanded. After giving that order, I bid farewell to all members of the Black Fur warrior pack and headed home.I felt really tired when I got home. It had been a long day, dealing with pack problems, sorting out arguments, and helping with the aftermath of the landslide. As I stepped into the house, I saw Tania bustling about, a forced enthusiasm on her face. She smiled at me and said, "Magnus, you won't believe how my day went!"I didn’t really pay attention of what she said, thinking about a lot of responsibilities on my plate.Tania kept talking, not discouraged by my lack of excitement. "I organized the relief efforts for the victims of the landslide. Coordinated with the healers, distributed supplies, and ensured everything ran smoot
“If only I could live longer …,” I thought.I walked through the dense forest, the weight of the curse lingering heavily on my shoulders.I had decided to seek the guidance of the pack’s shaman, desperate for a solution to the affliction that haunted me.The shaman's residence appeared ahead, a small hut nestled amidst ancient trees. The air felt heavy with mystic energies as I approached, a mix of hope and anxiety churning within me. I knocked on the wooden door, which creaked open slowly."Ah, Alpha,” the shaman greeted with a knowing look. "I sensed your presence. Come in, my Precious Leader.”The interior of the hut was dimly lit by the flickering flame of a single candle. Various mystical artifacts adorned the shelves, attesting to the shaman's deep connection with the spiritual realm. I hesitated for a moment before entering, the gravity of my predicament weighing on me."I seek your guidance, wise one," I spoke, my voice filled with a mix of determination and desper
"I can't marry you because you'll suffer as my wife."Tyler's words just now took me by surprise. What did he mean? I looked straight into his eyeballs that still contained the reflection of my face.I could see the tinge of anxiety in that gaze. I never doubted for a moment that Tyler loved me. I was sure there was always a good intention in his every word."Are you going to explain to me what you meant by those words just now? Honestly, you scare me Tyler," I said as I took his hand to convince him to talk to me.Tyler sighed. He looked away for a moment before finally starting to explain what he meant."Sabrina, I am a cursed Alpha.""What do you mean Tyler?" I asked not understanding."Long ago, when I was a child, a witch cursed me to die at the age of 27," he replied."At first we didn't think the curse was real. But the same curse killed one of our werewolves and now we all believe in my curse," he continued.I gripped Tyler's hand tighter and tighter. I could hear the tremor i
"Awww, Garry. How sweet of you. I understand that you're just teasing me because you want to make me feel welcome here."I decided to handle the situation my way. This wasn't the first time I had met a guy like Garry. They like to joke around and compliment women just for the sake of politeness. "Uncle Felix and Aunt Ruth are lucky to have an understanding son like you," I said with a sweet smile.Suddenly Uncle Felix burst out laughing, shaking the dining table.I was surprised by Uncle Felix's reaction. Did he like my compliment, or did he think I was crossing the line by commenting on his son who had just come home?"Look Garry, she's no match for you," Uncle Felix said between laughs.I saw Garry just scowl and stare at me with an incredulous look. I suddenly felt like I had done something wrong.Fortunately, Aunt Ruth broke the ice and questioned Garry about his studies at the academy. But apparently the discussion made Garry even more upset because from the look on his face I
"I know they will be there. But I don't mind bump into them, since I'll be going with you."My smiled curves widely tho show Tyler my determination. The Blue Moon Festival arrived in all its splendor, with vibrant decorations adorning the pack's territory. I stood by Tyler's side, marveling at the festive atmosphere. My heart raced with excitement, knowing that this night would be special. As we entered the festival grounds, the lively music filled the air, and the vibrant lights illuminated the surroundings. Couples swirled on the dance floor, laughter echoed, and the aroma of delicious food wafted through the air.Tyler held my hand, guiding me through the party. "You look stunning, Sabrina," he said, his eyes filled with admiration."Thank you, Tyler. You're not so bad yourself," I replied with a playful grin.We joined the dancing crowd, swaying to the rhythm of the music. The joyous atmosphere enveloped us, and I couldn't help but feel grateful for being a part of this warm and
"WHAT A DAMN NIGHT!"I stormed away from the Blue Moon Festival’s venue, my mind clouded with frustration and anger. The rhythmic thump of my boots echoed through the night as I approached the edge of Tyler's territory. My senses heightened, I took in the scents and sounds, searching for any sign of weakness that could be exploited. As I moved through the shadows, a growl escaped my lips, “Arrrgh!”The memory of Tyler, dancing with Sabrina, fueled my rage. I couldn't fathom how Tyler had managed to win Sabrina's heart when I had lost it all. The festivity’s noise that surrounded me only intensified my bitterness.Spotting a group of Tyler's pack members conversing near the border, I couldn't resist the urge to provoke them. I stepped forward, my presence imposing and threatening. The chatter among the wolves ceased as they turned their attention to me, the Alpha of Black Fur Pack."Having fun in Silver Fang’s territory, Alpha Magnus?" one of them sneered, his eyes defiant.I scoffed.
