The Dead Alpha

So after school Angelina went for her training. They trained the whole day and as always Angelina remained behind. She went strolling down the woods for a little fresh air. Far ahead she spots a little deer in the woods feeding it's self. She watched it behind a tree from a safe distance for a very long time. 

"What are you doing?" A whisper startled me from behind that I squealed as I heard it. 

"Ohh my God you scared me?" I sighed a breath of relief as I noticed the Alpha behind me. 

"And you scared the prey." He noted as the little thing starts running away. 

"What are you doing here? I thought you would be at the pack house." 

" I wanted to ask you the same question, because I thought "you" should be with the pack." 

" I just needed some fresh air." I sighed and looked back at the woods. 

"Funny I didn't notice you approaching." I said. 

" Maybe you focus is else where. Is there something in your mind?" 

" You're the Alpha. Why do you even care what's on my mind? Shouldn't you be busy with… I don't know." I was a bit surprised by his concern. As far as I know he should be back at the house. 

"So? That doesn't mean I don't care about my Pack. And you're are the Beta the most important member of the team. And I promised your mother to look after you. So what's wrong? " 

" Well the thing is… This might sound wierd but I think Jake is my mate. And I think Layla is mad at me , she thinks it's a mistake or something." 

" That doesn't sound wierd to me at all and I don't think it's a mistake. I think the moon Goddess chose well , you guys make a great team. Jake would be lucky to have you as a mate." 

" Haha! I'm not even into boys. I don't think I would make a great mate, at all." I was flustered by his words. 

"That's just your mind lying to you."

" C'mon plus I think he's a little too old." 

" Just a few years older than you." 

"He finished college two years back. You call that a few years?" I whispered. 

" You know you remind me of my Wife. She was just like you. Not into mating stuff, Not into boys , always training and pushing herself. And when she found out she was my mate she couldn't believe it, she also thought it was a mistake. But eventually time changed her mind and she was the best Luna this pack ever had. And the best mate. And for your opinion she was only 12  years younger than me."

" What? Only?" 

"Ohh look the deer is back and it's got a friend." I quickly turned my focus to it. Stealthy I transformed and quickly followed at the track of the deer. Alpha Storm followed my lead. But when I was almost close enough it noticed me , then it ran as fast as it could. 

"Ohh this damn thing is fast." I chased after it. It led me down the woods into the lake but I kept behind toying it to be certain. If I wanted I would have caught it a long time ago, but it was more fun and mind cleansing. It was fast but I was fast enough and before it knew it , I caught it by the throat slamming it on the ground. 

"You're are so gonna pay for making me run like that." Though I didn't kill it, the animal was unconscious under my breath. I carried it to show my Alpha my catch. Hopefully he did way better than I did. Still in my wolf form

I paced back dragging it through the forest. Not far ahead I heard a horrible scream. 

"That's Layla." I ran back and possibly thinking that maybe a strand of her hair got stuck in a tree. It happens often and that's probably why she hated the woods. 

Still carrying the animal , I ran as fast as I could and as I arrived I find the whole pack already there. 

"What's going on?" I asked myself as they were forming a circle around something I couldn't even spot. 

I pushed through to see and as immediately my eyes laid on the view I dropped the animal. The poor little deer it gained it's consciousness and ran away as fast as it could , not caring what's going on. 

"What happened?!" I cried. 

"Can't you see? Someone killed him." Layla was crying kneeling next to the lifeless body of the Alpha.

"But how? I was just…" Tears starts forming around my eyes, that I couldn't even talk properly. His body lying lifeless on the ground. Blood covering the whole area. So cruel the killer had to take out his heart. 

"Everyone back to the house!" Gamma Raider yelled.

" We will deal with this! And found out who did this horrible thing." 

" But someone killed the Alpha. They could still be here!" I protested. 

" We sent pack members to scout the forest. Don't worry about it, just go back to your rooms." 

" Go back to my room?! This is my job I could help." 

" Angie C'mon you've heard them, they are looking for the killer. Let's go!" Layla dragged me. 

" No!!" 

" Please Angie." I unwillingly followed Layla. I kept glancing back at the dead body. I still couldn't believe it, no one could believe it. 

"This is not fair. Why would someone want to kill him?" I sobbed as me and my friend walked back to the house. 

"Maybe they are just jealous or they really hated him." 

" Still doesn't make any sense. Isn't that who kills the Alpha should be the new leader? Then why would they run away?" 

" I don't know either. Maybe it's because he didn't challenge the Alpha. He sneaked up on him, signs that he was not strong enough to challenge him." 

" This is all my fault. I'm the Beta! I should know when someone is coming to attack the Alpha! I should have known before they even reached our territory. What kind of a Beta am I?" 

" It's not your fault. The other Betas didn't notice the killer too. No one noticed him. Not even the Alpha." 

" How's that even possible? How can someone sneak up on the Alpha without even being noticed?" 

" I also don't know." I threw myself on top of the stairs, still in disbelief. 

"This is all on me. If I hadn't gone chasing that stupid deer! I could have been there to protect him!" I still blamed myself for the death of the Alpha. 

"I could have prevented this!" 

"Angie stop blaming yourself. It's not your fault." Layla hugged me close. 

" Poor Jake. It must be so hard losing a father." I muttered between Layla's arms. 

"We are going to get through this. Don't worry."

The team went searching for the killer , the whole night but no luck. They searched every part of the forest to no avail. They couldn't even pick up his scent. It was like searching for something that never even existed. 

Everyone was devastated, especially Jake. No one expected this to happen, not like this. No one had any idea who killed him. They could only conclude it was a Rouge werewolf. 

Jake as he was the strongest Beta if the pack he was The True Alpha of the pack. And sooner than he expected he earned the title. But still it was not the same. Everything felt wrong.
