Genovia lost her parents in a plane crash she was only 17. As the sole heir to Core Productions and its affiliates, she will receive everything if she fulfills the three conditions her father left in his will. First, she needs to marry Jose Luis Betances before turning twenty-five. Their fathers made a pact, and there is no way out of it. Second, she needs to bear his child within two years of being married, and the third condition will only be revealed if the first two are fulfilled. There is only one problem – she is not his type. Gia dresses horribly and wears big eyeglasses. In short, she's a total nerd. JL avoided her like the plague until his father was investigated for tax evasion. All their assets were frozen, and his father is about to go to prison. Gia took that opportunity to offer JL a deal. After all, Mr. Alfonso Betances was her guardian until she was 21 and very much like a father to her, but nothing is free in this world, and she needs to follow the last will. By hook or by crook, JL is her key to ensuring she doesn't lose everything her parents worked hard for. All she has to do is not fall in love with him and stick to the plan. How hard could it be?

Chapter 1

GIAAt the age of twenty-three, I still haven't had a boyfriend. Aside from not being interested in it, who would even like someone like me? As my friend Cleo once said, I look older than our housemaid, Manang Lucinda. Just like now, Cleo is here in the house and we're having a sleepover."Gia, seriously! You scared me to death. You're scarier than a ghost with that outfit. Where did you even buy that? It looks like something Miss Minchin would wear to sleep! It's a closed neck, really? Yes, I know your house and your room have air conditioning, but you could at least wear a pair of pajamas," she said, rolling her eyes. I laughed. Cleo Sta. Catalina's family isn't rich. She was my classmate in high school and even in university because of a scholarship. Her father is a clerk at the municipal office and her mother has a small variety store. She has an older brother named Corbin, who's two years older than us.She's kind to me and always gives me various foods. I jokingly tell her that

Love the book…some very small parts have been written in another language (Filipino, I think) but it doesn’t take away from the book. It’s easy to read past if you don’t understand. Definitely recommend

Chapter 2

We didn't exchange a word from my office to the elevator. He didn't even open the door for me when he parked his car in front of the restaurant. I wanted to be annoyed because even though I wasn't wearing a sexy outfit, I am still a woman and deserve to have the door opened for me and be assisted while getting in. I saw stolen shots of him with various women in a magazine before. He always escorted them to the passenger seat and I could only assume that he opened the door for them like a true gentleman would.I struggled with the seatbelt as I sat down. But unfortunately, even that was stuck and couldn't be pulled! It kept clicking and until now, it refuses to cooperate — just like his attitude, irritating! I could feel his gaze on me along with his impatient breathing."Let me do it," he said irritably, furrowing his brows as he looked at me.He was so close that I could smell his aftershave and body wash. Even his cologne had a pleasant scent and wasn't overwhelming. Unlike other me

Chapter 3

It has been two weeks since that dinner from hell. I also changed my cellphone number the next day. It wasn't difficult because only a few people knew my number. The siblings of Sta. Catalina, Attorney, Tito Alfonso, and... no one else. I haven't spoken to him since that dinner except for informing him that I changed my number. If it's business, I have a different cellphone for that. Besides, my employees know they can only call me until five o'clock, and unless the building is collapsing or there's a fire, they shouldn't disturb my rest. I don't even watch the news anymore. Often, JL's face appears on the E-news with his flavor of the day. Not flavor of the month because he changes his companion before a month is over. It's Saturday and Cleo and I are together today. We stopped by for coffee and she winced at what I was wearing. It's like she's extremely bothered by my outfit."Aren't you sweating in your long sleeves that are buttoned up to your neck? It feels like I'm suffocating j

GIAI just had a drink but I'm not drunk. It's him that's making me feel intoxicated. He's too close and I can't breathe. What was JL thinking and why is he in such a hurry? It was already fine. I'm not even hoping anymore to marry him. I'm willing to help his father. The problem is, I don't have that kind of money in the bank. All my money is in investments and if I have any, it might just be around a hundred thousand. "You're kidding, right?" I turned my back on him and made my way over to the couch. I felt dizzy with what he said about us having a baby. If only staring at each other could make someone pregnant, then let's do it right away."I'm—" I didn't let him finish his sentence, he was probably caught off guard earlier. Besides, I don't want to hear any more insults from him. He might say that he was just joking and I was falling for it. It's hard to hope."Let me call my lawyer so we can get Tito Alfonso out. What time do we need the bail?" I asked him."Before five, but I'm

WEDDING NIGHT. Well, it's not really like that. We haven't had a proper conversation with JL yet and our marriage happened hastily. It was a marriage for convenience which turned out to be a double convenience because he also needed help. When Tito Alfonso was arrested, I found out from JL that aside from freezing their bank accounts, all of their family's assets were also frozen. The only reason why JL has kept the condo is because it is under his name. Meanwhile, his mother went back to the ancestral house inherited from her parents. When I asked JL who his mother was with, he told me that the two caretakers were there. That's where we're headed right now to drop off Dad. Dad was quiet throughout the journey and lost in deep thought. JL drove us, and we were both in the front. The drive was approximately forty-five minutes south. We were heading to Batangas, and the house was quite far from the city. "Gia, can you text Mom and see if there's food in the house. If not, we can just

Chapter 6

JLI was not expecting her to be so beautiful. Why she hid herself in those hideous clothes and big glasses. I have no idea. If I have known then, she wouldn't have needed to force me to marry her. The sexual attraction I am feeling right now is scaring me. Even the sense of ownership as if I don't want her to be away from me or out of my sight.I don't want to mistake this for love because besides not knowing each other - I know, we hate each other's guts. We've thrown unpleasant words to one another, but it will stop now that she is my wife. A few minutes from now, our marriage will be consummated and it will depend on my swimmers how fast they are and if Gia is fertile right now - then the second condition will be fulfilled. Don't we need to have a child before we hear the last condition? Her eyes were closed and her breathing is uneven. Her hand, which was on her chest earlier, is gripping my shoulder. I was kissing her at the back of her ear and her scent was intoxicating. All th

JLI immediately blocked Rolf's view. "Turn around and don't look at my wife," I said, laughing. He followed suit. I let out a sigh and glanced at Gia. "Hon, can you grab a robe in the bedroom and put it on. Sorry, I didn't know this fool is coming in today."Gia rolled her eyes but still did as I asked. She left her coffee on the table. My robe is big enough to cover her from head to toe. She wouldn't sweat since there's an air conditioner."Can I turn around now, doofus?" Rolf asked."I guess! I already sent her to our bedroom. What are you doing here?" I scratched my head."I need a place to crash," he said while walking towards the kitchen. I saw him pour coffee into a cup. I can't believe what I'm hearing right now."A place to crash? You have so much money, pick any hotel you want." I wiped my face. Rolf can be annoying sometimes, and you'll wonder why we became best friends."I don't want to. I want to stay here in your condo," he replied with a grin. He sat on the sofa with hi

I couldn't bring myself to say anything else. There are too many things on my mind. I just know we had to talk about everything before we end up sleeping together again. When we arrived at my house, I didn't wait for him to open the door for me."Just leave your car parked there, if you want. Come in, I will show you around," I invited him. I walked inside first. Our house is huge, but why do these double doors feel smaller today? Maybe it's JL's presence that's making me see it that way. After I toured him around the house for familiarity, I heard him ask a question. "Where's your bedroom?"I purposely didn't show him my bedroom because firstly, he won't be sleeping there tonight, and secondly, the guest room is ready for him. We were supposed to head downstairs to the living room now and we were already at the beginning of the staircase."Don't ask anymore. My room is messy, and I haven't had a chance to clean up," I smiled at him. I was hoping he would let it go. The truth is, my r

JLI am in the middle of the meeting and I can't concentrate. When I left, Gia was still sleeping. I lost count how many times I took her yesterday and even in the wee hours of the morning. If she's not able to walk properly when she wakes up — it's my fault. But I couldn't get enough of her.I don't understand anything in the presentation, but I acted like I am listening. I can always read my secretary's notes later. We have a French client that's very picky with the model he wants for the product. The endorser he wants is a woman with a certain beauty. No matter how many times he explained, he still didn't like any of our models. So my team brainstormed and presented their ideas today.Mr. Allaire wanted to branch out in the Philippines. They have several branches in the United States — particularly in New York and California. And last year, they opened one in Toronto. The construction here is ongoing, so they want to be prepared for the commercial. They have the money and we need t

FLASHBACK CONTINUED. . .HE gently nipped it before leaving it and reaching my lips for a kiss. JL's kiss was passionate and I couldn't help but put my arms around his neck. I pulled him closer to me. I couldn't get enough of him. We kissed for a few minutes that seemed like eternity, and when he left my mouth, I felt dizzy and lost with desire. His mouth found my other breast to give it equal attention, and as he stayed there for a while, I felt my back was not strong enough to support me.He awakened various emotions within me, and he felt the ache in my back. One of his hands was there, and when it left, it went to my stomach. He lightly pushed, and he laid me down on the table.JL kissed me on the lips again, and when he ended it, he looked at me while I was sprawled across the table."Beautiful," he whispered softly. nevertheless, I heard it and it gave me confidence no matter how small. Shame and excitement mingled together as I felt like a dish served before him. He kissed me o
