An hour before new year's eve, in a certain apartment room at the Blue Moon Residence, there were two girls arguing over something.
"D*mn Celestine!" A loud curse could be heard within the corners of the apartment. One could feel the extreme anger in the two words that the person just shouted, it was full of different emotions, so many emotions.
The person was none other than Zren, who was currently fuming with anger, her eyes were bloodshot as she stared at her twin sister, Celestine.
"Tell me! Are you in your freaking right mind? Just look what the f*ck have you done! Celestine, you totally ruined your life!" Zren shouted, her tone was full of frustration. She didn't know what she was feeling right now. Mixed emotions stirred within her, it was so hard to explain that she couldn't even calm herself down.
"Z-zren please, relax for a bit, l-let me explain s-something f-first," Celestine stammered as she tried to calm her sister who was on verge of flipping the table upside down due to extreme anger.
"Relax?! How I am supposed to relax? You came here knocking on my apartment's door in the middle of the night, then told me that you are seven months pregnant. Tell me, Celestine? How I am supposed to relax?" Zren complained. She stood up from the sofa and distanced herself from Celestine. She couldn't fully digest the explosive information she just learned, it was too much for her brain capacity.
"I know you are shocked, but—"
"Of course I am!" Zren interrupted the words that Celestine was about to say. "Isn't it obvious? Eight months ago we just turned eighteen, and now you're telling me that you are freaking pregnant for about seven months. I'm shocked, I'm freaking shocked!"
Using her slender fingers, Zren gripped her hair to suppress the emotions building inside her that was about to burst out at an unknown moment.
"I'm sorry," Celestine mumbled under her breath, it was so soft, nearly inaudible.
Zren stared at her sister. "Your sorry can't change anything. Everything had been done, even if you cry streams of blood right now, nothing will change. Now, suffer and face the consequences of your actions."
"I know," Celestine weakly replied.
"If you know, then why the heck did you even do it in the first place? Before you decided to roll on sheets with someone you should have thought about the possible results of your actions, yet you didn't! Why Celestine, why?"
"It was an accident. I didn't mean it."
Zren's eyes widened with disbelief, "Accident? If you really didn't mean it, then what happened? One night you are walking down the street, and the next second you accidentally got hit by something magical that made you pregnant? Is that what you call accident?"
"Zren! I'm serious! I'm not joking." Celestine retorted.
"Nor I am!" Zren shouted, "Celestine, are you even aware that you just ruined the bright future ahead of you? You are a top student, a person with a high IQ, people admire you, but why? Why did you let yourself take the wrong path?"
"Zren, I know that I have done something that couldn't be undone, but that doesn't mean I let a single mistake define my personality. I'm not asking for more, but please trust me even just for one last time. Please?"
Zren didn't answer Celestine's request, instead, she asked, "What about Mom, does she know about your pregnancy?"
Celestine was taken aback by her sister's question. She looked down to the floor and slowly nodded her head as a response. "Yes she knows"
Hearing her sister's response, Zren already knew that something was amiss. She gazed at Celestine and impatiently said, "Quick tell me what's wrong."
Celestine opened her mouth and was about to deny it when Zren added, "My IQ is higher than yours so don't try to fool me. I know that you are lying so tell me the truth."
Celestine let out a deep sigh, she had no choice but to confess everything because lies were useless if Zren was the person she was talking with.
"After our eighteenth birthday, Mom together with new her family moved to Central City. I bid goodbye to her and said that in the future I will no longer contact her," Celestine explained in a cold voice.
"She got mad right?"
"Yeah, she told me that I am still her daughter so she insisted that she will continue to give me a monthly allowance."
Zren nodded and moved on to the next question, "Who's your baby's father?"
Hearing her question, Celestine's body instantly froze. She didn't expect that Zren would suddenly bring it up.
She didn't answer, only pursed her lips and stayed silent, refusing to answer the question.
"Tell me, who is you baby's fa—"
"It doesn't matter okay? I can raise them on my own. I will give everything, love, and spoil them. They don't need a father. I will make sure that I will be the best mother for them."
"Are you crazy?!" Zren finally lost it. The moment she learned that Celestine was pregnant, she couldn't accept it however what was worst was that her sister wanted to raise her baby as a single mother. That was the thing Zren couldn't accept the most.
"Celestine come on, wake up! We are living in a world where it's better to die than live! Do you think everything is easy as you say?"
"I will do my best no matter how hard it is. I promise I will do it!" Celestine declared as if she was sure that she already predicted the future. She had strong willpower however in reality it was far enough for her to reach the goal.
Zren walked closer to Celestine and pointed her. "No, you can't! Come on Celestine reality sucks and that's a fact. You can't do it, even if you work hard."
Celestine didn't retort, deep inside she knew, that what she was saying was indeed unreachable. She was still pregnant and incapable of working to make some money.
After a few moments, Zren broke the silence between her and Celestine.
"You and I grew up in a broken family, Celestine, didn't we promise that if one day when we already have our own family we will never let them experience what we had already suffered? Now, let me ask you, do you want your baby to grow up without a father?! If your answer is yes, please don't be stupid!"
Without a warning, Celestine suddenly stood up and hastily pushed her sister, causing Zren who was unprepared to fall onto the carpeted floor.
She glared at Zren, eyes were sharp as thousands of knives ready to pierce at any time in an unknown moment.
"Of course! I know the most what is the feeling of not having a father, but Zren, you don't know anything. I have my reasons so don't act as if you know me too well."
Zren who fell to the floor stared at Celestine, her eyes were full of shock, however, after a few seconds her eyes slowly dimmed, and they became cold and empty in an instant.
"Fine! If you don't want me to meddle with your life, then it's okay. I don't give a f*cking care!" Zren stood up and walked out of the sala. She then went straight to the door and left her apartment.
Zren mindlessly walked down the road with no idea where she would go. She was not in her right mind, Celestine's pregnancy caused a huge blow to her. Until now she still couldn't believe everything, hoping that the things happening right now were just a nightmare and soon she would wake up as if nothing happened.
Today was new year's eve, she should be preparing to welcome a new prosperous year and ready to move on from the past one, yet what destiny gave her was a piece of huge sh*t, Celestine's pregnancy.
Zren continued to walk to who knew where. She was only wearing sweatpants paired with a hoodie jacket and slippers. She put on the jacket's hoodie to cover her head from the night fog. She had no money, her mind was in mess, and didn't freaking know what to do.
Zren stopped in her tracks when she saw a garbage bin on the roadside. She stared at it for a moment before taking a deep breath and using her strength to kick it.
After one kick, Zren was still not satisfied enough, she again stretch her foot and land another kick at the trash bin.
"Sh*t! Damn! F*ck! Fudge!" Zren let out a series of curses as she continuously kick the trash bin until all the garbage inside flew out of the bin. She kicks and kicks, pouring all of her frustration on the poor thing.
Just as she was about to land another kick when her actions suddenly stopped.
Zren was rooted in her place when she heard a cool lazy voice of a guy behind her.
"Chill Missy, today is new year's eve you should be happy."
"Happy? Why should I be happy? Life is a freaking sh*t! There's no reason to be happy at all!" Zren fumed in frustration and glared at the person who should be in age between eighteen to twenty years old. Approximately three meters away from Zren, the guy was sitting under a broken lampshade, the lightbulb was blinking every moment, making other people dizzy. However, it seemed that the guy didn't care about it, on the opposite it looked like he was even enjoying it. Aside from the blinking light, the guy was also wearing a hoodie jacket so Zren couldn't see clearly what he looked like. But based on his physique she knew that this person was hiding some charm. The guy who just spoke earlier let out a light chuckle. He turned his head to look at Zren and said, "Well, it looks like you've got some huge problems with you." "I have! I have a ton of them, so much that I just want to give up!" "Relax, calm down first," the guy uttered as he raised one of his hands gesturing for Zren t
The sun shone brightly on the clear dazzling azure sky without a trace of a single dot of fluffy white clouds. It lit up the whole stretch of the sky, some morning dews were still on the plants' leaves, birds were happily chirping on tree branches and the cold morning wind hadn't still dissipated. Such a wonderful weather to start your day but it was the opposite for a certain girl who was standing on one of the building rooftops in her school. On the bright sunny morning at West High also known as Westernville Highschool. A school that was one of the best high-end private schools in their place. Zren stood on the rooftop in dazed. She unblinking stared at the wide-open field that was covered with healthy green bermudagrass. Some students were playing, chasing each other, and live chatting in a group. Zren was immersed in her thoughts when suddenly someone approached her. "You are daydreaming again," a helpless voice resounded in Zren's ears. Zren glanced at the person who just ta
Ten years later. Time quickly passed by, people changed day by day. In a blink of an eye, ten years had already passed. It was seven in the evening, the sun had long settled and the sky was already pitch black. The stars and moon were shining in the sky, trying their best to light up the dark night. In one of the offices on the top floor of the Lawless Law Firm, there was a twenty-eight years old woman, who had medium-length wavy hair dyed with a galaxy blue and purple color which made her more stunning and gorgeous together with her beautiful face. The woman was sitting on the black leather swivel chair, while one of her elbows was placed on the table, supporting her chin. It seemed that she was thinking about something deep, immersed in her thoughts, and didn't even care about her surroundings. The woman's train of thoughts was interrupted when a man's voice resounded in her ears. “Boss,” the man said. He looked at his boss but it looked like she didn't hear him and didn't ev
Because of the heavy traffic along the road, it was already ten in the evening when Zren arrived home. Using a small remote control, she pressed a few buttons, and slowly the large gate of the house automatically opened. Zren drove in and parked her car outside. She was too tired and lazy to park it in the garage because she would also use it tomorrow, so it was more convenient to leave it right there. Zren got out of her car, she took her bag from the passenger seat and walked toward the door. The door was not a manual one but a digital one, one would need to use their fingerprint for them to open it. It didn't need a key you only need to press your finger that was registered on the system and you could enter easily. Zren pressed her middle finger against the scanner and the door automatically opened. When she entered the house, all the lights were already switched off, it was dark and silent. Probably that her sons were already sleeping. Zren carefully went upstairs to change
Zren woke up in a familiar yet at the same time an unfamiliar dark shady room. She rubbed her eyes and scanned the surroundings to check if it was indeed her room at the Blue Moon Residence. Her eyebrows knitted together and formed a confused frown. Lights were switched off, the room was dark and silent, and only the dim silver light of the bright moon shining through the gaps of the long curtains was the source of the brightness. Confused, Zren got up from the bed and walked toward the floor-to-ceiling windows on the balcony. She tipped her toe to uncover the curtains. The moment Zren opened the curtains she jolted out of shock when she saw a familiar person standing on the balcony. The person was none other than, Axis. He didn't notice Zren because his back was facing her, and there was a thin glass separating them from each other. "Man? Axis?" Zren couldn't help but utter as she touched the glass. She tried to slide the door open but her efforts were in vain. It seemed that it
The next day, Zren packed her things and sent Zhen and Xhyne first to school before going to the place of the event. The event was held at the Casa de Verhillo a prestigious hotel located outside Central City. After Zren graduated college from the Sevirillo State University, she, Yashi, and the twin moved to Central City because of a job opportunity. With Zren's innate talent and high IQ, it was not hard for her to find a job. Soon she got a job at the number one law firm in the country, however, just after staying there for a few hours, she was immediately fired on the spot. As for why? She just offended a person she was supposed not to. That was how she found the Lawless Law Firm, she could still clearly remember what she did just to get a job. It was one of the most embarrassing but at the same time one of the most memorable experiences she had. As said earlier, Casa de Verhillo was located outside the Central City, it was three hours drive at normal speed, but for Zren's spe
Zren wore the off-shoulder satin dress she bought earlier and paired it with a black pointed strap heels sandals that she brought with her. Her wavy galaxy blue hair was tied into a clean half-bun making her even more gorgeous than before. Zren was holding the "gift" in one of her hands. As for what was her gift? It was the rice wine she got from the Nio's shop. A few hours earlier after she went back from buying clothes, she called the hotel's management to request some things such as black cardboard, scented papers, glue, scissors, paint, and other art materials. Using her creativity and with a little bit of help from do-it-yourself or DIY video tutorials posted on the internet, Zren started to create an elegant and expensive-looking packaging for the cheap unbranded wine she bought. She maximized her creativity even though she was not that good at making crafts. After making a paper bag out of the black cardboard, she next created a box for the two bottles of wine. After a
The sudden kiss shocked Zren to the core. She wanted to struggle however, the man was gripping both of her wrists pinning her against the hard wall. There was a large gap between a woman's and a man's strength after all. It was clear who was stronger between them. Just as the person was about to explore her mouth, Zren took a deep breath and bit the man's lower lips as hard as she could. Her canine teeth pierced through the man's lips causing it to blood severely. "F*ck!" Weidon hissed when he felt a stinging pain in his lips. He let Zren go and touch his wound, it was deep and bleeding non-stop. Zren pushed the man and slapped his right cheek using her fullest strength. The impact was so hard that it echoed within the empty hallway, there was even a handprint left on Weidon's left cheek. Zren covered her lips with her palm and stared at Weidon, eyes were full of disbelief. "Omo, my first kiss!" Zren mumbled to herself, her tone was full of grievance and frustration. The
Weidon forgot how to react at the moment, he sat on the bench with a back, not moving or even blinking his eyes. He wanted to open his mouth to say something, but he couldn't bring himself to do it, as if an unknown force was stopping his body from doing anything. At that very moment, it seemed that his world was frozen; everything that surrounded him stopped moving, he couldn't hear or respond to anything, and his connection to the outside world was blocked.Weidon did not expect Zren to make such a sudden, bold move. He thought that she must at least do some preparation. However, it turned out that everything came in an entirely different direction. The direction that he least expected the most.To say such things as if they were just a piece of irrelevant information was truly unexpected; Weidon was not prepared at all.Snapped!Weidon was pulled back to the reality when he heard a crisp snap of fingers. He blinked a few times to regain his focus, only to see Zren's pale long finger
When they arrived at their destination, the four of them got out of the car."Seaside!" Xhyne exclaimed in excitement the moment he saw the crystal blue water from the distance.Without waiting for anything, he pulled his brother to the play on the seaside.Zhen didn't resist and let his twin pull him. Even though he did not say anything, he could not hide his shining eyes. They were bright and full of excitement."Do you guys often come here?" Weidon asked as he looked around. Based on the twins’ expressions it was not the first time they went to this place."Not that much. We only visit here if I have free time."Their surroundings were quiet and peaceful as there were no other people other aside from them.Weidon and Zren sat on a bench facing the sea.The sun started to settle turning the blue sky into a blazing fiery red sea of clouds. The water reflected the light from the ball of fire, making the water seem to shine like colorful glitter. The sea was calm and small waves crashe
Truth be told, Weidon and Vinley actually knew each other, however, they were not acquainted with each other or had any close interaction before.Their family just belonged to the same circle of business, so they met a few times now. However, as for why a young master of a pretty well-off family was here working as a secretary for someone, Weidon really didn't know. But that was not the main issue right now, because if something got out of Vinley's mouth regarding Zren and him, Weidon was sure that in no time, troubles would be able to find their way in knocking on his door.If Vinley spoke outside even a little bit, those people who were watching him would soon gonna know and try to dig deeper about this matter, and worst the twins would be going to be found. As much as possible Weidon didn't want to let the public know about Zhen and Xhyne's existence in the meantime without drafting a concrete plan about the matter. There were so many things that he needed to consider and one of th
Whenever Zren remembered Celestine, her bad temper would always act up and the blood in her vessels felt like they were boiling in extreme anger. Her patience was as fragile as a thin strand of hair that could easily be snapped into two.Her anger towards that woman was immeasurable to the point that whenever she heard the name of that person, her anger issue would skyrocket to the extreme, enough to reach a place outside the earth.Even though it had been a decade, there was no way Zren would forgive that woman. After everything she had gone through because of her made Zren impossibly forget those dark bitter memories. "Stop bringing that woman into the conversation, I don't have time to listen to anything bullshit about her." Zren turned her back to Weidon and continued to search in the bookshelves. After some time searching, she finally found what she was looking for.Out of the bunch of books displayed on the shelf, Zren pulled out a thick brown album and held it in her hand.Bec
The happenings flashed way too fast, and before Zren could react, Weidon's strong palm was already gripping her jaw and forced her to look him in the eyes. She really didn't expect that he would be going to react this way, it looked like his patience wasn't enough to endure everything for a long time just as she first expected.Zren knew that Weidon still highly doubted her identity. He thought that she was just making up another identity to fool him again. That was why earlier, Zren didn't act aggressively and chose the calm friendly approach. She acted dumb and playful when talking while purposely letting Weidon run around in circles.Weidon's main objective was to know the twins' identity, he wanted to know who their father was if it was him or what. However, since Zren set the momentum the moment she entered the room and didn't give Weidon a chance to speak what was in his mind, the topic diverted from the twin to her identity.Zren thought that Weidon was a hard bone to chew that
The call had ended for almost five minutes now, however, Zren was still gripping her phone tightly even though the person she was talking with had already hung up.Zren didn't need to ask herself for the second time because the moment she realized what the other person meant, she knew who it was.Of course, who could it be if not Weidon? But what amazed her was that Weidon's connection was so fast, he immediately obtained her personal contact information in less than a day, just a few hours to be exact. The way he called early in the morning even though the sun had yet to rise completely meant that Weidon was so eager to know everything. He had just seen the twin last night and now he was so impatient that he called first thing in the morning disturbing Zren's good night's sleep.Even though Zren's body still wanted to lie down and go back to sleep, her brain wasn't cooperating. No matter how she closed her eyes, her mind was still running, thinking about possible things that may happ
When they reached their home, Zren accompanied the twins until they fell asleep, making sure that they were okay. After she confirmed that the two were already fast asleep. She exited the room and went downstairs. The lights were already off so the whole house was dark and silent. Only the dim light from the moon that pierced through the cracks of the curtains slightly lit up the place. When she reached her destination which was the kitchen, Zren didn't turn on the lights, instead, she used her phone's flashlight as a guide. She then opened the fridge and took out several cans of flavored liquor and some chips from the cupboard.Placing the things she just gathered on the counter and sit beside them, Zren opened a can of beer and the packaging of the chips. In the depth of darkness, Zren stared at nothing, she just silently continued to eat and drink with an uncaring blank expression. Her mind was full of thoughts, both good and bad. They confused and fogged her clear mind making her
A child’s frustrated scream echoed throughout the hallway as two kids who exactly looked like each other exited the bathroom, running in Zren’s direction. One was wearing a grumpy expression, his eyebrows met with each other as he threw a sharp glare at the boy who exactly looked like him.“He kept interrupting me to pee! I hate him! He kept banging the door even though he knew I was inside!” Zhen aggrievedly told his mom about Xhyne’s annoying tricks. He buried his head in Zren's stomach to hide his teary eyes.“Hehe, s-so are you still able to pee?” Zren asked pretending that everything was fine while trying to look calm. Even though right now her heart was thumping like a wild boar inside her ribcage. She was freaking nervous!Meeting Weidon here was the last thing she ever expected! This damn destiny was really messing with her.Zren pulled the twins near her and squeezed their hands to comfort herself. She looked at Weidon whose expression was unexplainable. His eyes were glued t
Zren leaned on the back of her chair and put both of her feet on the table. She played with the pen on one hand and used the other to hold her phone.“So you guys finally know the truth. Finally.”“How did you know?” Weidon replied with a question.Zren smiled and looked outside where she could see the small-looking building of Weidon’s company from her point of view.“Why don’t you guess? I don’t think you need a clue, I know you’re smart enough to figure it out.”The moment Zren let go of those words, Weidon’s gaze automatically fell on the flash drive plugged into the laptop. He took it out and sure enough, there was a small device plastered on it.Saven was about to curse when Zren spoke again.“I already proved my identity. I am not Celestine so let’s stop this hatred thingy. I don’t know you, you don’t know me. End of discussion.”Zren was about to end the call when she remembered something.“Anyway, Elcid, let’s just meet some other time, I have something to do later.”She swor
