Allison lay on her bed all day thinking of ways to raise money for her sister. She has been applying for different jobs and has gone for some interview. She will be having another interview in the next hour and she really hoped to get this particular job because the pay is high. Before now, she has not thought of applying for a job because she was very okay with running her bar, but now she needs money anyhow she can find it.
She groaned in exhaustion then stretched her hand lazily to pick up her phone from the small table just beside her bed to call Kenny.
"Hey Kenny." She began. She knows that she is about to get scolded. "I won't be around for the next two hours." she said tiredly.
"Another interview?" Kenny asked weakly from the other side of the phone.
"um...yup"
"I think you are doing too much Ally, if you continue like this, you are going to end up in the hospital yourself."
Allison runs a bar and Kenny is her manager. over the years, they have developed some sort of friendship.
"This will be the last one Kenny"
"That's what you said that last time." he sighed. "I know it's not easy for you but you need to give yourself a break. It's obvious you haven't had a good sleep for days"
Allison remained silent on the other side.
"Allison we're gonna get through this okay. I will support you in every way I can." he said, concern obvious in his voice.
"Thank you very much Kenny. That means a lot to me. I will see you later." She ended the call.

Allison arrived at Bruce enterprise forty minutes later. The mighty building towered over her. She couldn't help but marvel at it. It is a sky scraper of about thirty to forty stories, she didn't know for sure. She was almost intimidated by the personality of the people there and she has not even gone inside. Everyone and everything seems so organized. It is no news that only the best and most qualified candidates are employed here. For a moment, she felt like going back but the image of her sister lying unconscious in the hospital bed came to her mind.
She took a deep calming breath. 'I can do this'. she said in her head.
With determined steps, she walked inside. When she entered, she got confused. Everyone seemed busy and she couldn't find the candidates for the interview.
Luckily for her, a young girl about the same age as her approached her.
"Good day ma'am. I'm a receptionist here. Do you have an appointment?" she asked politely.
"I was called for an interview." Allison replied, trying her best not to be nervous.
"Follow me." she said and turned around. Allison calmly followed after her.
The receptionist brought her to a place where she saw some people quietly seating down. She guessed that they came for the interview as well. The receptionist then gestured to her to join them. She was again intimidated by the number of people waiting to be interviewed. Her chances of getting this job is getting slimmer.
She was surprised that the interview has already started. Was she late? or did they started earlier they were supposed to? She didn't have the time to think about that. What if they already called her name?
She nervously went to sit with the other candidates. Another receptionist came to inform one of the candidates to come with her.
Allison quietly sat there praying silently that she was not too late.
Soon after, the receptionist came back.
"Miss Brown, come with me"
Allison heaved a sigh of relief. She stood up almost immediately, straightening the non-existent crease on her clothes. She began to follow the receptionist. The receptionist entered the elevator and Allison followed her. A moment later, she found herself standing in front of a door in a floor that seem like the last floor. She decided to ask.
"um... excuse me, is this the last floor?" she asked, her voice coming out a bit nervous.
"Yes. It is the CEO's floor". The receptionist answered with a straight and professional face.
She preferred the other receptionist. That one is friendlier.
Wait! Did she just say CEO?
"CEO?" Allison asked confused. She didn't expect him to be the one to conduct the interviews.
"Yes. He decided to conduct the interviews today". She answered with the same straight and professional face.
Allison felt like fainting, she knows how difficult it will be to impress that stern man. Everybody knows how specific he is when it comes to hiring his employees. He hires only the best.
Suddenly she felt herself loosing hope. Time is something that she didn't have on her side. Her sister is lying unconsciously in a hospital bed and she needs to get money as soon as possible. She is very aware that this job will not pay her one hundred and fifty thousand dollars but she has other plans. She will pool all the money from her bar, then add the money she had saved up for her sister's college tuition, she really didn't want to do it but it's better than letting her die.
And if the money still isn't enough, she would just have to beg the doctor to give her more time. She believe that if she beg enough, they might consider her.
Maybe when everything is well again, she will find a way for her sister to go to college.
She took a deep breath, mentally preparing herself and also reminding herself that everything she was doing was for her sister, and that she shouldn't give up.
The receptionist didn't say any other word before knocking on the door.
"Come in." A deep masculine voice that made cold shiver run down her spine was heard from within.
The receptionist gently pushed the door open and entered inside with the nervous Allison trailing behind her.
Calvin Bruce is the CEO of Bruce Enterprise. He is the kind of guy that every girl will kill to have. He is handsome, famous and rich. He has had a lot of women over the years but was never committed to any. Infact he doesn't see anything special in any woman, he just keeps them for sexual purposes."You may leave." he said to the receptionist without raising his head."Yes sir." she bowed her head a little and left."How may I help you?" he asked, still not looking at her."umm... I'm... I applied for the job of the assistant secretary". Allison stammered out nervously.Calvin closed his laptop and lazily looked up at her. He felt entranced for a moment, he could swear that she's the most beautiful girl that he has ever seen. He paused and looked at her from top to bottom mentally taking in all her features. He has always had a thing for beautiful ladies and this one is just his type."And what made you think that you are qualified?" he asked staring intently at her."um... sir..."
Allison thought she heard him wrong"What?"She had expected him to say something like that but she didn't expect him to use those very words. What does he mean by 'mine'?"I don't like repeating myself miss brown. I said be mine. I will give you twice the money you need". he said, his face void of any emotion."You want me to be your girlfriend?" Maybe it wouldn't be that bad anyway. Not that she wanted to be his girlfriend, but she will agree to it without blinking if it means saving her sister."No! I want you to be mine!" he growled"what do you mean by 'yours'? your wife?" She asked, staring at him in horror. Being a girlfriend was one thing, but a wife? She is not sure she can do that."Hell no!" she released the breath that she didn't know she was holding. "Be mine. be my possession. I want to own you". he sounded like he was loosing his patience."But I'm a person, not an object" She felt so angry. She has never been this insulted. She knows she's beautiful and very attractiv
Calvin sat on his chair working on something on his laptop when he heard his phone ring. It was one of his receptionist. He answered."Speak." receptionist heard his cold voice from the other side of the phone"Miss Allison Brown is here to see you, we told her we can't let her in without an appointm...""Let her in." he commanded."Yes Sir". She replied timidly and he hung up almost immediately.Calvin closed his laptop and relaxed lazily on his chair with a satisfied smirk dancing on his lips. He has been thinking of this moment since forever. He hope she will come begging him.A moment later, he heard a knock on the door"Come in". he said coldly. The receptionist entered with Allison behind her."Leave". he said to the receptionist and she left immediately.Allison was still standing unmoving and staring at him."Are you going to keep standing there? or am I just so irresistible that you can't help but stare?" he teased. She flinched, it seemed to him like she was spacing out. She
Allison got to the hospital with renewed vigour. She deposited the payment and asked the doctors to commence treatment. For once, she is going to sleep well at night. She was still scared but she was hopeful.Allison entered Kylie's ward without the usual moodiness on her face. She even seemed brighter."Hey Kylie. I finally got the money for your treatment. I told you I would" She smiled a little."Just be strong for me okay and wake up soon" Allison sat down and she finally felt all her exhaustion telling on her. In a few minutes, she drifted to sleep.Allison woke up in her bedroom the next morning, got ready and decided to meet with her friend. She had sent Delia a text the previous night that they should meet up.Delia has been her friend since high school, they went to the same college and went through a lot together. She and Delia tell each other everything but she don't know how to tell her about this because Delia has always been protective of her.Inside a small restaurant,
Allison has been standing in front of Calvin's mansion since the last ten minutes hesitating to ring the doorbell. She doesn't know what to expect. She thought she had gathered enough courage but it seems it's going to be harder than she thinks. She had managed to get through the gate with the help of the securities there. They let her in because they were expecting her. After a few more minutes, she managed to muster a little courage and rang the bell. 'Here goes nothing' she said in her head. The door was opened almost immediately by a woman who looked like she was in her mid forties."You must be miss Allison Brown, I'm Ellie, the boss asked me to attend to you. It's a pleasure meeting you". She said with a smile."It's a pleasure meeting you too Ellie.""Come in." The woman gestured to her to enter inside with her hand.Allison tried to carry her bags with her but was stopped."ow! you don't have to do that, the maids will do it for you"."O.. okay" She awkwardly dropped the bag
Allison stood unmoving. Her legs felt heavy all of a sudden, the way he was looking at her sent shivers running down her spine. Was she scared? She thinks so. "Allison". She heard him call again. "I said come here." he called firmly and in a threatening tone. She managed to move her feet forward reluctantly. She stopped a few centimeters from his bed."Move closer Allison." He commanded and she took a step forward."Closer". She took another stepCalvin reluctantly got from his bed and walked to stand right before her."You are testing my patience Allison." The look on his face made her think that he wasn't in a good mood. Well it shouldn't be surprising. He is a devil after all.He walked towards her and yanked her arm violently. She flinched from the pain of the tight grip but he didn't loosen his hold."Why are you daring me?" he asked menacingly. "Or do you want to get me angry?"So he wasn't angry.Allison remained quiet."Don't keep me quiet Allison."She looked up at him. What
Allison sat on her bed deeply lost in thought. She thought of the world and how to was so cruel. If only she wasn't poor, if only Kylie didn't have leukemia at all, she wouldn't be here. She wouldn't be reduced to this level. His words kept echoing in her head. 'I own you.' Fuck! Who the hell does he think he is? Does he actually enjoy seeing people in pain? He didn't sleep with her like she had expected, but he humiliated her. Allison has always had high self esteem, she respect herself thereby earning respect from others. She has always worked her to fend for herself and her sister without depending on any man. She even graduated college without financial assistance from anybody. She even had money saved up for Kylie to go to college. This is the first time she had someone assist her financially and she had to pay with her dignity. It hurts her so much but she she didn't have much choice. It will all be worth it when she sees Kylie standing on her feet and laughing again. She rea
Calvin had returned early from work that day. It was one of the rare days he didn't have a lot of work to do so he finished on time and was already home at five o'clock. Ellie had informed him that Allison left the house in the morning to visit her sister and her bar. He had told her to inform him when she gets back. A short while later, he heard a knock on his door."Come in"Ellie entered the room"She is back sir"."Call her in"."She said she wants to bath and eat first". She informed him panicking a little. She had earlier told Allison to answer him first but she refused."Oh really! Let her take her time. Call her in when she's done. You may leave". Ellie nodded and left the room.Calvin sat there for almost one hour before he heard a knock on his door. He wondered what took her so long."Come in".Allison entered and walked closer. She stood right before his bed. It's like she became a little less fearful. Allis
Calvin stared at Jerry, trying his best to appear friendly. He kept reminding himself that his grandmother was there. Allison didn't look alright, and he could already guess Jerry had something to do with it. Even though his gaze at Jerry wasn't hostile, there was clear warning in his eyes. He quickly led Allison away. "Oh I didn't tell you how much my grandsons are in love with their wives. You need to see Calvin when the Allison is experiencing the slightest discomfort. Love is indeed a beautiful thing." Grandma said to the uncomfortable Jerry. Jerry smiled and nodded his head. "It hasn't been up to a month since Delia and Leo got married. I wish we had met you earlier, you would have attended the wedding. It was beautiful." "We really would have wanted you there." Delia said, and grandma beamed, failing to see the sarcasm. "Jerry the whole family loves you already. It's really going to be a wonderful week." Grandma exclaimed. A week? A whole week of staying together with them?
Four days later, the members of the Bruce family began to arrive the mansion. Aunt Margaret and her new boyfriend were the first to come. All the while, Jerry had been dying in nervousness. Grandma had begged him to stay in the mansion with her, and he was forced to oblige. During their stay, he had learnt more about the family than he knew.He had asked to know what happened between Calvin and their father. The woman was reluctant to tell him at first, but when she became very comfortable with him, it slipped. He was beyond shocked and disappointed to find out that his father had killed Calvin's mother. He felt so betrayed and angry, but one couldn't release their anger on the dead.Aunt Margaret introduced her boyfriend to Jerry. She also told him that she has a son and a daughter, and that they would also be coming. They chatted, whiling away time before Naomi and Sasha came. Both girls slumped on one of the living room's couches. By then, grandma had gone to her room to have her n
Calvin brought a doctor to the house to check if Allison is pregnant as he promised her the previous day. The both of them were on their toes the whole time as the doctor took her blood. After a while, he asked them to leave so as to run some tests on the blood.Calvin took his wife to the living room. They sat down on the couch in silence, doing nothing in particular. Just waiting impatiently. Time seemed to move slowly, and the couple didn't have the zeal to do any other thing. Finally, the doctor came out, and they didn't know when they rose to their feet."Am I...?" Allison began anxiously."Congratulations Mr and Mrs Bruce." The doctor said with a smile, then he turned to Allison. "You are three weeks gone."Allison turned to Calvin, and she saw that his hands were already wide open, inviting her for an embrace. She hugged him tightly, her hands went around his neck, holding him with a firm grip. She suddenly began to laugh, but not long after, her laughter turned into sobs. "It
Calvin instantly regretted saying that. What if that was not the case? He would just raise her hope only to leave her disappointed in the end. But he just couldn't help himself, as the thought of her getting pregnant excited him.Allison's lips parted and closed, before parting again. "We... we should see a doctor." She suggested."I was only guessing. I am not certain." Calvin said, not wanting her to get too hopeful."But it could be true. I have been feeling a little sick for a while now. Maybe I am really pregnant Calvin. We should check." Now she looked so anxious to know. "I had previously thought about that, but I always pushed it away, not wanting to get my hopes high. But now that you noticed and mentioned it, I want to check. It is better I just know, even if I get a negative answer."Calvin walked up to her and kissed her forehead, letting his lips linger there for a few seconds. "We will be seeing a doctor tomorrow.""Thank you baby.""Anything for you princess." He smile
Delia's gown hugged her body from her breasts to her waist, before it flowed freely downwards. She had wanted it to be tight and take her whole figure, but Charlotte discouraged her as she was pregnant, and grandma made sure to give her her own set of instructions. Delia wondered if they were exaggerating as she was only a few weeks pregnant. She had to remind them from time to time that she wasn't a piece of glass. The front of the dress was opened in a heart shaped pattern, and two royal blue straps attached to it was tied at the back, around her neck, as the dress was completely handless, leaving her back open. The upper part of the dress, close to her breasts to her back was blue, embedded with white designs. While the free end was also blue. The gown flowed voluptuously behind her, and she wondered if she would be able to walk freely. She stared at herself in the mirror, heart full with so much happiness, and a sense of fulfillment. She knew that she was not making a mistake by
Calvin woke up one morning. He searched the bed for Allison as he usually does, but she wasn't there. He got up to go close the open curtains as the light rays were shining brightly in the room, and his eyes were yet to adjust to it. From the way everywhere looked bright, he knew he had woken up very late. He and Allison had a very wild night last night. He still expected her to be in bed, knowing he tired her out.He quickly went to search for her, worried that he might have tired her out too much. Their bathroom was the first place he searched, but he didn't find her there.Coming out of the room, he met Ellie. "Good morning Ellie. Do you know where Ally is?""She's in the kitchen. She said she wanted to make you breakfast." Ellie answered with a shrug, and Calvin's feet took him to the kitchen wasting another second. He smiled when he saw her from the door. She was singing a song and also dancing to it. Somehow, she looked more radiant."What are you doing standing there?" Alliso
It had only been two days since Calvin, Allison and Naomi returned home from the ancestral home when they had an unexpected visitor, Jerry. Calvin had ordered that he shouldn't be let in, as he did not want Allison to see him and remember her traumatizing experience with him. Jerry stayed for a long while, causing a fuss at the gates. But after a while, he left.Calvin was thankful that he left, only that he did not expect him to come the next day. Just like the previous day he ordered that he shouldn't be let in, but Jerry stayed at the gates disturbing the peace of his home, accusing him of killing his parents. After a while, Calvin finally decided to come down to let him in. But only because Allison wasn't home, as she had began to spend all her time with Delia since she heard she was pregnant. Naomi wasn't home as well.Jerry rushed towards Calvin the moment he came down, ready to throw a punch or two at him, but he was quickly held by one of Calvin's men."I presume you came here
Allison stared at Calvin, completely taken aback by the information. Did he say that Jerry was his half-brother? "H... How?" "I am as surprised as you are princess. I think he is the older brother, and he is bitter, as he is the one supposed to get the company." Calvin explained, making Allison crease her brows in worry. "This is not good. He is a threat to you." Calvin shook his head. "He is an illegitimate son, and I guess no one in the family knows about him. Not even grandma." "He can easily prove that he is your father's son." He chuckled. "Even if he does that princess, the company will still belong to me. It is not written anywhere that it belongs to the first born. I am the rightful owner legitimately, plus everyone in the family apart from my late father..." he paused shortly, as if the word didn't sound right on his tongue. "... and his wife supports me. Jerry or whatsoever he is called have no claim." He shrugged. Allison lay her head on his chest, as she made hersel
Naomi lowered her head as she couldn't bear to look Calvin in the eyes. Her body shivered violently, and her teeth chattered against each other. The temperature around her suddenly felt so chill, and her heart hammered in her chest like it was going to pull out.Everything happened just so fast. When she saw her father pointing a gun at Calvin, and she realized that he was going to shoot him, she quickly picked up the gun on the floor and shot him instead. It was an instinctual reaction."Na... Naomi?"She heard Calvin call her. The shock in his voice was evident, even though his tone was low. Was he disappointed?Calvin walked up to his shivering sister, and wrapped her in a tight hug."Why? Oh God! why did you do that?"He knew that she was going to live with the guilt forever. She was the last person he expected to do that. She had always been so soft-hearted, and she did care about their father. "I... I... am... I..." She stuttered, unable to make a coherent statement. She hersel
