Well, fuckiddy fuck fuck.
I guess I am going out with Connor now. All thanks to my big fat mouth. But whoever thought he'll jump on the Anya train so fast? I thought he was into Jessica?
"What do you mean you will date me now?" I asked again.
"I meant what I said. I shouldn't betray my best friend and go after his future wife when I have this great beauty pining over me," he smirked and put his arm around my shoulder.
Gross.
"Um...are you sure? Maybe you should think about it first. I mean...I'm so mean to you all the time, and I'm such a bitch..."
"What, changing your mind already? Maybe I should talk to Jessica then," he looked thoughtful.
"No, no, that's not what I meant. I am just shocked. I can't believe you're willing to accept my feelings so soon," I giggled nervously.
"Why not? We've known each other since kindergarten. If you think about it, we look damn good together. Besides, how could I say no to this face?" he pinched my cheek. I gritted my teeth to control my irritation. I wanted to punch him in his stupid handsome face.
"We are gonna be late!" I pushed his arms off me and ran out the door. I quickly took my position next to the other bridesmaids. My heart was beating fast as I couldn't believe what I had done. I'm taking it back after the wedding is over, I decided.
Connor joined us and stood next to Ansel after a minute or so. He had a smile plastered on his stupid face, and he kept looking at me. God, I can't stand him!
The music started, and it was time for the bride to walk down the aisle. I decided to stop worrying about Connor and focus on Jessica. She looked beautiful in her Vera Wang gown. I was in awe. Maybe one day it'd be me walking down that aisle, I imagined dreamily.
I looked at Ansel, who was also basking in her beauty. He was truly in love with her. I am glad I didn't let that jerk Connor ruin their day.
But what now? I have to break up with him.
After the ceremony was over, we were told to gather inside the venue for the reception. I had to sit next to Connor as Jessica made the seating chart. I should've told her to relocate me five tables away from him instead.
After the first dance of the bride and groom ended, Connor leaned closer to me. "You owe me a dance," he whispered.
His warm breath tickled my neck and gave me goosebumps. "How about it?" he asked quietly and extended his hand.
I wanted to say something smartass, but I couldn't think of anything. Instead, I took his hand and let him lead me to the dancefloor.
He touched my open back. But instead of feeling disgusted, I felt tingly and warm inside.
"This is quite a dress. I feel like I'm dancing with the queen of Moors." he chuckled.
"Queen of what?" I was confused.
"Nevermind that. What I'm. Trying to say is, it suits you. Although, I prefer you with it off," he smiled flirtatiously.
"That's so inappropriate. What's wrong with you!" I said in a hushed tone.
"You shouldn't mind since you're so smitten by me," he picked up a loose strand of my hair and twirled it around his finger.
"I DON'T LIKE YOU, YOU IMBECILE!" I screamed and pushed him off. He fell backward and hit the table behind him, making my aunt yelp.
Just kidding.
That was just my imagination. What I really did was smiled and said I wasn't smitten, and he just laughed about it. But god, I wish I could embarrass him right now!
He pulled me closer as they played another slow song.
"You smell nice," he whispered and tightened his grip on my waist. I prayed he didn't hear how loudly my heart was beating. I felt extremely nervous for some reason.
Calm down Anya. This is just Connor. Why are you acting like he is your old crush?
"You okay? You are shivering a little. Are you cold?" Connor looked at me with worry.
"Ah...maybe. I should go sit down. I feel a draft coming from the vent," I said in an attempt to get away from him. I waited for him to let go of my waist, but he hugged me instead.
"Is this better?" he asked.
I could hear his heartbeat as I rested my head on his chest. It was as fast as mine. Maybe I'm not the only one who's nervous.
I knew I had to push him off, but few more minutes like this wouldn't hurt, right? He just felt so warm and comfortable. I closed my eyes and snuggled against him.
"Are you sad that the wedding is over? I know how much you wanted to be with her," I murmured against his chest as I couldn't hold my curiosity.
"I'm devastated. I need you to make me forget my pain by kissing me all night," Connor chuckled softly.
Real smooth, you sarcastic bastard.
Wait...did he say kissing? I guess it was to be expected since we were 'dating.' I was doomed!
"You two look a little too close there."
Connor let go of me, and I turned around. Ansel was staring at us with his eyes narrowed to a slit.
"We were dancing," Connor suddenly sounded hostile.
Uh-oh...what was happening now?
"You should pay attention to your new wife Instead of watching me," he said firmly.
"She is my sister," Ansel barked.
"Err...she is standing right here," I decided to interject.
"Look, man, I don't want any drama. Let's just have a good time at your wedding, okay?" Connor suggested.
Ansel nodded. "Just watch yourself," he said and walked away. What was going on between these two?
"Come with me," Connor whispered and took my hand.
"Where are we going?" I asked nervously as he pulled me away somewhere.
"Trust me," he said.
I am not sure if I should. Being alone with a notorious playboy was the last thing I needed.
"Wait, Connor! Where are you taking me?" I said frantically as he dragged me somewhere."Patience cupcake," he chuckled."I can't run in these shoes! My feet hurt!" I complained. I was more of a sneakers and boots gal, you see?
The dressing rooms were in a separate building away from the reception hall. Connor and I quickly headed there.Luckily Jessica and Ansel packed extra clothes to change into after the event was over. Too bad we would be the ones wearing them now.I changed into Jessica's Summer dress and walked
I looked down. At least I wasn't completely naked, I thought.Connor took off my clothes but left the bra and underwear on. I wasn't self-conscious about my body by any means, but I still felt embarrassed to be half-naked in front of him."Lean forward so I can wash your back," he said suddenly,
"You can't just declare I'm yours, Connor. That's not how it works!" I snapped."Alright, I guess I'll have to pursue you properly then," he shrugged.I sat there in shock after Connor dropped the bomb on me. Where did that confession even come from? He never told me he liked me even though we p
"What the hell, Connor! Where did you come from?" I cried."I'm Connor, pleasure meeting your acquaintance," he looked at Brian and said."Don't ignore me, you jerk!" I said.
Connor put on an apron, and I shamelessly stared at him with lusty eyes. I have a weakness for men who can cook, okay? Then I suddenly realized I was lusting over Connor of all people and snapped back into reality. Get a grip, Anya!"I am making steak and grilled potatoes. Does that sound good?"
We ate quietly for a moment. He kept looking at me every few minutes, making me feel flustered. I tried to busy myself by attacking the steak."I'll do the dishes," I offered.
"Aargh!" I groaned and face planted on the couch. It has been a week since our little date, and I couldn't get him out of my mind. He looked so sad when he dropped me off and left without saying a word."Okay... I'll ask. What's wrong?" Courtney asked."I think I might've messed things u
"YOU DID WHAT?" Yup, just like I thought. My mom turned from 'My fair lady' to fire-breathing dragon after telling her about mine and Connor's spontaneous wedding. It was Sunday afternoon. Connor and I called everyone to deliver our news. His father couldn't make it as he was out of town. "We got married?" as if I phrase it like a question, it'd sound less ridiculous. "Without telling us? We would've love to be there for you. I would've flown there instantly," my dad looked pained, and I felt terrible. "We're sorry, Ivan and Ariel. We did it in a moment of passion," Connor tried to diffuse the situation. "My husband is a passionate guy," I said and giggled as the words 'my husband' sounded unreal and ridiculous in my own ears. "Oh, you think it's funny, young lady? You just broke your poor mother's heart," my mom wiped a tear and stormed out. "Mom!" I called after her, but she was already gone to the other room.
My wedding day.I never thought it would come so soon, and I never imagine it'd be like this. Let's go back and elaborate.Connor and I decided to take a mini-vacation to the Miami beach since none of us had the time to spend time with each other for a whole month. Last time we saw each other was when we had that spontaneous dinner with Ansel. You know, the one where Ansel got to shower with an alcoholic beverage and his pride turned into dust?I put on a cute floral bikini and got ready for the day. I've been looking forward to relaxing."Are you ready?" Connor came out of the bathroom and asked. He had changed into his swim shorts and didn't put on a shirt."Mhm," I mumbled and stared at his chest. I have a problem for sure. "Would you mind making these tighter?" I pointed at my bikini strings.Connor moved closer and untied the strings but paused before tying them back. He let them fall off his fingers. I gasped and q
"Ahem!"All three of them looked at me as I cleared my throat. Ansel frowned, and Connor smirked."Having fun?" I narrowed my eyes at Connor. I sat next to the empty chair next to him."Oh yes, have you met the lovely Jules?" Connor smiled slyly. I'm gonna kick his ass."Good, you're here too. Take your man away from me," Ansel said. His ears were flushed."Her man?" Jules was confused."Oh yes. Let me introduce you to my fiance, Anya," Connor grabbed my chair and dragged it closer to him."You are engaged?" Jules asked."That's what I've been trying to tell you," Ansel said irritably."Aww, that's too bad," Jules pouted, not even trying to hide her disappointment.Excuse me. What am I, Chopped liver?"Well, you two can keep each other company. I'm heading out. You coming, Jules?" Ansel looked at her.Oh no, that would defeat the purpose of me coming here."Don't leave. We need to talk," I sai
Connor looked at me with irritation and shook his head in disapproval as I pushed him toward Ansel."You so owe me for this," he announced, then walked over to them with confidence.I followed him and sat down at the other side of the bar so I could hear them. A big guy sat between us, making me almost invisible. Besides, Ansel was too busy flirting with the girl to notice me."Hey beautiful..." the guy next to me started."Shh...I'm trying to spy on my fiancé," I sneered. He quickly turned back to his drink.Connor had already turned his charm on. He casually walked behind Ansel and put his arm around him. And judging from Ansel's wide eyes and big scowl, he wasn't pleased to see him."Whoa, I didn't know you were coming here!" Connor exclaimed and patted Ansel on the back."What are you doing here? Where is Anya?" Ansel asked."Anya? Why would she be here?" Connor acted obliviously."Because she is your fia..."
A week went by, and I didn't have the chance to speak to Ansel properly after that day. It wasn't that I didn't want to. I was too preoccupied with work to deal with drama. I saw him at the office as he finally got it together and decided to show up for work. But something about him had changed. He wasn't the same. He used to be warm and friendly. Now he had a certain cold aura that chilled my bones. I didn't realize Jessica's betrayal would destroy him this much.I should talk to him more, I decided.Connor hired another secretary within a week since many people were seeking an opportunity. I didn't run into Miranda in the apartment either. She must be hiding from me. I wouldn't show my face either if I were her.I fell into my routine. Connor was busy all week, so I didn't get to see
"I am staying in your room in case that hoebag comes back to rape you," I declared.Miranda seemed like a total psycho. What kind of woman tries to sneak into a man's room in an attempt to steal someone's fiancé?Connor chuckled and pulled me to his lap. "I think I'm strong enough to push her off.""I am still staying.""Good, then I can touch you all night," He started to place small kisses all over my neck and chest."No, you're not. You're going to sleep because you have to wake up early for the conference," I frowned."But...I'm hard," Connor placed my hand between his legs and smirked."NO! Go to sleep. You jerk," I giggled."Fine, can I hold you then?" he smiled.I nodded, then buried my face in his chest. He smelled like soap. He must've taken a shower right before he went to bed.The next day, I woke in an empty bed. He must've gone to the conference early in the morning. I wonder how awkward it was
Miranda and I stared at each other from across the table. It was a quiet battle while Connor chewed on his steak, completely oblivious to everything that was happening around him. I could tell she was not happy to see me. Did I ruin her plans of seduction by showing up unannounced? Poor baby."So you just showed up without letting Connor know?" Miranda asked. Her smile looked faker than Kim K's ass."Yes, Miranda. I did. It's what they call a surprise," I bit back with sarcasm."I think it'd be best if you call in the future."Excuse me? Who does she think she is? I tried not to snap, but my jaw tightened. I felt Connor's hand on mine under the table. He gave me a warning look and squeezed my hand as if to tell me not to get angry. So
I booked the first flight I could find. It was already mid-afternoon, so that means they were already settled in their hotel rooms. But no matter, I'm coming for you, Miranda!I didn't arrive in San Diego until after 5 pm. I was exhausted, but I decided to stay up after I reached the hotel. I booked a room at the same place Connor was staying at. How do I know where he was staying, you ask? He told me. Duh.If he was planning on cheating on me, it was a dumb move to tell me about his whereabouts, don't you agree?I wondered how mad he would be when he sees me. What if Ansel was right? What if I screwed up everything we built together so far? I was worried for a moment, but I came too far to back down now.I went to my room, took a nic
I looked at Miranda and then at Connor. I could only imagine how unpleasant my facial expression must be. Connor, on the other hand, had no clue."Thank you, Miranda. I'll be ready tomorrow," he said."Anything else I can do for you?" Miranda was all smiles. My insides burned."That'll be all," Connor dismissed her. He turned to me after she left. He finally noticed the bitter look on my face and furrowed his eyebrows. "What's wrong?" he asked."What's wrong? Why is the flirty Mctitty going on a trip with you?" I snapped.Connor blinked twice as if to try and register the nickname I gave her. "What?" he asked."Your fangirl Mindy. W
