••ALEXANDRA POV••
"Alexandra, you wench! What the hell do you think you’re doing?" My mother's words are as harsh as the slap landed on my cheek. "You can’t even clean a room properly? Look at this dirty water everywhere, you fool!" she hissed with disgust, but it's her who kicked the bucket of water accidentally, still I can't speak it out, she yanked my hair, "Guests will be arriving soon for your sister’s birthday week celebration, and you can’t manage this simple task? Useless!" I flinched in pain but didn't dare to make a sound, though the pain made my eyes fill with tears, still I kept my head down, focusing on the ground. "Mom," The word slipped out before I could stop myself, but as soon as I said it, I knew it was a grave mistake. Another slap. Harder than earlier. "I told you never to call me that!" she pushed me hard enough making me fall on the floor. "You're not allowed to call me mom, you wretched girl. You will address me as Luna even if it is just two of us, do you understand?" I nodded quickly with fear, my cheek burning as if it touched the fire. I should’ve known my position for better, "Yes, Luna," I barely managed to say like a mere whisper. Mom's gaze was cold as ice, her lips curling as if she hated to even look at me, "You’re an omen. Your existence is a curse on this pack. You are lucky we’ve allowed you to live this long, if not for your sister, I could've killed the moment you were born." I swallowed hard, trying to hold back the tears. I have heard these words numerous times, it's not new to me, and yet, today… today it hurts more. "Do you understand me?" she barked, making me jump in fear. "Yes, Luna," I whispered again. What else could I say? It's not only Selene's but also my birthday, being born as twins, one with a wolf and the other wolfless, is it my mistake to both wolfless? Did I choose to be born like this? I wish I was never born. She stood there for a moment, glaring down at me, and then turned around to leave, "make sure it’s spotless before your sister comes out of the shower, if not I'll peel your skin to make a carpet in this room," with one last warning, she left the room. I let out a shaky breath and slowly touched my cheek, wincing at the sting. It wasn’t just my face that hurt, it was everything. Every word. Every reminder that I don't belong to anyone. I picked up the rag again and got back to cleaning. There was no point in dwelling on it. I had work to do if not I'll be starved again. This room had to be perfect for Selene, the apple of my parents' eyes. The perfect daughter they always wanted. She had a week of celebrations ahead of her, and the whole pack would be here to celebrate her. Of course, no one would remember that it was my birthday too. No one ever did. As I'm arranging the pillows properly, my fingers brushed something smooth. I glanced up and saw a beautiful jewelry set lying on the bed, shining under the soft light within the room. Sapphires and diamonds, glittering like stars. It was stunning, something out of a dream. For a moment, I imagined what it would be like to wear something like that, to feel beautiful, to be noticed for more than being a mistake. I reached out, almost touching the necklace when the door creaked open making me fear. "Caught you, you thief." I retrieved my hand back immediately and turned to see Selene standing in the doorway, her perfect figure draped in expensive silk, her brown hair flowing in waves around her shoulders. She looked every bit like a dreamy princess everyone talks about. "What are you doing in here?" she sneered, walking toward me, her eyes fixed at the necklace which I almost touched, "Were you trying to steal that?" "No, I...I was just cleaning," I stammered, quickly moving away from the bed. "Cleaning?" she laughed sliding her finger on my bruised cheek, and pressed her nails hard into my skin, "You don’t deserve to even be in the same room as something this valuable, let alone thought of touching it. A filthy thing like you wouldn’t even know how to wear it." Pushing me aside, she took the necklace up, holding it against her chest. "Someone like you doesn’t deserve anything nice apart from those rags. You’ll never be anything more than a stain in this pack, so learn your position my dear useless twin." Her words pierced my heart like stabbing with daggers, but I stayed silent, my hands trembling. Selene always has to say to remind me that I'm nothing in front of her. She walked past me with a smirk. "Now, get out of here. You’re an eyesore that is giving me a headache." I didn’t argue, I couldn’t either. With my head down, I stepped out of the room, biting my lip to hold back the tears threatening to rush out. I returned back to the servant quarters, my head still spinning from the pain and humiliation, servant quarters is the place where I live, someone like me isn't allowed to live in a palace like Selene. As soon as I stepped inside, Clara, my only friend in this horrible place, rushed over with concern watching bruises on my face. "Oh God!" she gasped, immediately grabbed a wet cloth and gently pressing on my bruised cheek, "how can they treat you like this?" "It’s nothing," I lied, I don't want her to scold them, if we were to get caught by speaking behind their back, punishment don't stop with just whipping. "Nothing? You aren't even able to stand properly," she exclaimed softly, her fingers moving carefully on my bruised cheek as she is applying the ointment she kept hidden for me. "You don’t deserve this, Alexa. I wish I could help you get out of here." I couldn't help but to smile faintly knowing it's impossible, "I've no place to go." Just then, another maid burst into the room shouting for me, "Hey Alexandra, what are you doing here? Princess Selene wants you immediately in her room. You were supposed to be helping her get ready for the party!" Clara gave me a sympathetic look as I stood up with great difficulty but it's my duty to follow the orders of Selene. When I entered Selene’s room. She was already pacing in front of the mirror, dressed in a robe, being extremely frustrated. "Where have you been, you useless bitch? Where is my dress?" she screamed, glaring at me as if I had personally insulted her by existing. Before I could even open my mouth to respond, she grabbed the nearest thing she could, a heavy flower vase, and threw it directly aiming at me. I don't even have time to dodge and the vase hit me straight on the side of the head, creating a sharp pain. I stepped backward, clutching the spot, blood beginning to drip down my temple. But I didn’t scream or cry. Instead, I did what I always did, I swallowed my pain since they don't even like to see me crying. Ignoring the piercing pain in my head, I bent down, picking up the broken vase pieces one by one. My vision started turning blurry, but I managed to throw those broken pieces of vase just like my heart in the trashcan so that Selene wouldn't be injured. I went towards the wardrobe. "The dress is already prepared for you," I said softly taking out the dress I prepared for Selene. "You should have brought it to me immediately, lazy idiot" she rolled her eyes, but she didn’t apologize for her earlier behaviour. I never expected her to. She never did either. I used a piece of cloth to stop the bleeding, so that my blood wouldn't taint the room, Selene sighed, "how long you're going to act as if your head is torn apart? Stop whining and move your dumbass from there to dress me up for the party." Ignoring about my injury, I helped her to get dressed, my fingers trembling as I tied the ribbon bow, carefully done her makeup and hairstyle. Selene inspected herself in the mirror, twirling with a bright smile, looks like she is impressed. Ofcourse she'll be since she looked beautiful, like an angel descended from heaven. Then, she looked at me, her personal maid, her useless twin sister. Grabbing me by the arm she dragged me in front of the mirror, forcing me to look at both of our reflection in the mirror. The difference was unbearable. Selene, glowing like a star in the night sky, and me, bruised, covered in dirt, my clothes nothing more than rags, if there's any other word more humiliating than embarrassment I wish to use that to describe my situation. "Look at us Alexa," she whispered with a venomous smile, "I was born to be a princess, to live in luxury, adored by all. But you," she sneered with full of disgust, "you were born to live like the trash you are. A stain in this pack." I didn’t respond. I couldn’t. She was right. I stared at our reflection, my heart aching, not because I envied her, but because I would never escape this fate. I was trapped in it, bound by blood to live in her shadow forever. "Come with me to the party hall," she ordered snapping her fingers, "And don’t forget your place." I obeyed, following her like the obedient servant I had always been. The grand party was already filled with music and laughter in every corner. Selene wasted no time in making me her personal servant in front of her friends, ordering me to fetch things as if I were a pet dog. Handkerchief, juice, snacks, more juice. I ran back and forth for her every demand "You pig, can't you be faster?" she sighed wanting a glass of water, just as I was hurrying back, I wasn’t paying attention, and I bumped into someone. I got tripped and landed on the floor being embarrassed in front of everyone. "Are you injured?" His voice was soft, concerned, and for a moment, I forgot about both the pain and the party, who wouldn't? I lifted my head to see the most handsome man I had ever seen. His blue eyes held a warmth which I had never seen before, and his gentle smile made my heart almost skip a beat. He forwarded his hand politely, trying to help me up, and for the first time in my life, I felt recognised. Not as a servant, not as an outcast, but as a person. I felt my cheeks reddened, unable to face him. But before I could even say a word, his expression changed. His eyes narrowed, and his face darkened with a frown, "Mate?""Mate?" I uttered, the word filled with a mix of disbelief and confusion, is he my mate? Who is he?Before I could even respond, he fiercely took his hand back from me causing me to end up on the floor once again, a commotion began around us. Selene’s frustration ran mercilessly in disdain not bothering about my despair. "What kind of trouble have you caused now, Alexandra? Can't you stay out of trouble at least for one day?"My mother’s arrival isn't any less cruel than Selene's. She stormed in, with a furious face, "Look at the mess you’ve made! Who allowed this idiot here?" she sighed while fanning her face with her hand, "Is this how you present yourself in front of all the guests? How long are you planning on making a fool of our family? You, useless wench!" I wanted to disappear if possible. The weight of their words were unbearable. I tried to gather all the strength to stand, but their harsh words crushed me more further. I felt my heart would shatter with every angry word th
"Luna, Alexandra has been burning up a high temperature from last night. She’s sick! Please show mercy on her,"Clara stepped forward, blocking my mother’s path for the sake of me.A harsh slap landed on Clara's cheek for blocking my mother's way. The sound of the slap echoes through the room, "how dare you to block my way? If you dare to repeat it again you'll be whipped by a silver whip a thousand times." Clara stumbled back, her corner of the lip started bleeding already, but she didn't cry out. She just looked at me, with fear and helplessness in her eyes."Drag her to the extraction cellar immediately," my mother sighed, turning away from Clara as if she was nothing. Four maids held me roughly. I struggled, but they’re too strong for me to escape. Before I could even resist, I was dragged to the extraction cellar forcefully by those maids, "Luna, I can’t do this today, I'm really sick," I begged her with a trembling voice hoping she would show some mercy, "please Luna." But I'
I couldn't help but to step back out of fear hearing to his voice. Beta Karlos, the most notorious person stood there, with an intimidating aura almost wanting to kill me, "Why did you and Clara try to escape?" he demanded with a cold voice passing chills throughout my body.Clara and I exchanged a glance, but neither of us dared to speak, we just prepared to leave but never prepared an answer about what to say if we were caught. The truth of our plan is too dangerous to reveal, and our silence can be the only thing that can save us for the time being.Karlos face stiffened with anger as he became impatient by our silence. "So, you choose silence? Very well." He signalled for the guards, who held us forcefully following Karlos. We were dragged through to the dungeon where my mom is waiting, her face is masked with fury. Karlos reported our attempted escape. My mother’s eyes reddened in anger as if fire igniting in her eyes, the moment she slapped me across the face, the force of her s
"Oh no! I messed up." Those were the only words I could manage to utter, staring at the dramatic scene around me. My heartbeat increased rapidly with the growing realization that I hadn’t just escaped one trap, I’d stumbled into another, and with strangers I didn’t recognize. Who were these three? They didn't look like anyone from the packs I knew. Then, the memory of Clara hit me like a shock of cold water. She was all alone in that room, defenseless. If they caught on to my escape, she’d be their next target, I had to get to her before it was too late.I tried to lift their hands off me as quietly as possible, avoiding any further disturbance, so that I could escape easily from this place."What are they eating? Are their hands made of dumbbells?" Why are they so heavy?" I couldn't help but curse my weak strength, struggling against their grip. Lifting those arms felt like a workout in itself, but I finally managed to crawl out of bed. I can't walk out in this naked state, but whe
"Wh...what did you say?" I froze for a minute after hearing to what he said, and he was staring at body like a hungry wolf, "so, it must be quite enjoyable last night, isn't it? After it's a surprise planned by your mother right?" "H-how did you know?" I stammered, barely managed to speak, as my heart is almost ready to jump out of my chest, I couldn't understand how he got to know about my mother's twisted plan! Not only that, he is acting as if it is nothing, what kind of person is he?He let out a low and dark chuckle, "Come on, ugly duckling," he sneered, leaning in close enough that his breath brushed my neck. "I know everything, so you don't have to act innocent," His face hovered by my shoulder as he inhaled, a shiver of disgust running down my spine. "But you smell different, aren't you supposed to smell like an omega after spending a night with him? Why do you smell entirely different?" I pulled back instinctively, pushing him away with every ounce of strength I had within
••DAMIEN POV••"Who is it? Just close those damn curtains," I groaned as sunlight fell across my face.Squinting, I opened my eyes slowly, to find the girl from last night lying beside me. But there was no sign of her, just the three of us, David, Dylan, and me. I frowned as I got up from the bed, "where is she?" I checked everywhere throughout the room, but she is not even in the bathroom. The only thing I was able to notice in the room was the shirt I left on the floor last night gone missing, scanning the room, I noticed everything else was untouched, "so, she wasn't a thief." I took out another shirt from the cupboard, and got dressed."What’s so special about my shirt?" I muttered under my breath. "There are plenty of other things in here she could’ve taken, what made her to take my shirt?" I wandered the halls in search of her there were no traces of her. Being frustrated, I returned to the room, as I stepped into the room, realisation struck my head about the precious thing
••DAMIEN POV••"Let’s go to the dungeon immediately," I said, glancing at both Dylan and David, they nodded agreeing with me. The maid immediately stiffened and blocked my path with a shivering tone, "My lord, the dungeon is a restricted area, even the maids who work here aren't allowed to go there, they won’t allow anyone there, Beta Karlos is a very dangerous man." I smirked. "Oh, really? Let’s see who dares to stop the Alpha kings!""Alpha kings?" All of them looked surprised as I revealed our identity, and immediately they moved away no longer blocking our path. With that, we headed towards the dungeon, following the directions the maid had given. As soon as the guards saw us approaching, they stepped aside, visibly trembling in fear. The dungeon was dark, damp, and filled with a foul stench of blood, but it wasn’t nearly as terrifying as the dungeons we were used to. That's when we heard it, a girl’s desperate cries filled throughout the cold walls of the dungeon."I’m innocent
••ALEXANDRA POV••The last thing I remembered before darkness consumed me was a voice, loud, domineering, but distant, fading as I slipped into an unconscious state. Now, there are more voices around me, unfamiliar yet familiar, stirring something deep inside. My eyelids feel impossibly heavy, but I forced them to open, blinking against the dizziness."She’s waking up," I hear a gentle voice with full of relief, who must be waiting for me to wake up? Slowly, my vision got clear, and I see him, one of those three from last night, smiling softly at me, but my heart racing out of nervousness, I tried to move away from him, but he reached out, steadying me, his touch gentle and careful, "Don't be afraid," he said quietly helping me to sit properly, "We will not harm, you're safe now."I’m trembling, barely trying to understand his words, at the same time the other two of them stepped in front of me. My throat is dry, as fear passing through me, slowly he offered me a glass of water. "Her
••NO POV••"Should I really stop thinking about it?" "Do I really have to give up?" "Is it my fate?" "If what he said is truth, shouldn't I take revenge?" Many thoughts and doubts messing with Alexandra's mind almost making it impossible even to take a breath in discomfort. The garden was so quiet, the scent of fresh roses filled in the evening air as Alexandra walking in between those roses wanting to find some peace of mind. The golden glow of the setting sun is filled with warmth but her heart remained clouded with turmoil of emotions. Her fingers gripping the edge of her sleeves, as thoughts swirled in her mind, heavy and bothering.Clara, who had been silently walking beside her, finally broke the silence. "What happened, Alexa? Is everything okay? I've been observing you, lately you're too lost within your thoughts and not at all communicating with any of us, are you okay?" Alexandra hummed in response, her voice softer than usual, "I don't even know what to say Clara, in
••NO POV••"Alexandra... Alexandra" This was the name everywhere heard after that night party, everyone is curious about this particular person because of her closeness with alpha kings. Now, even Kelvin became more curious to bring her back to use her strength and influence. The dimly lit room inside the manor was filled with the scent of burning incense, the thick smoke curling into the air as Kelvin sat at the head of a long, dark wooden table. His expression was grim, his fingers drumming against the polished surface. Across from him, Rosalyn leaned back in her chair, sipping from a glass of wine, her eyes narrowed in thought. The atmosphere was tense with no words. There was no denying the truth anymore, Alexandra was no longer the helpless, submissive girl they once controlled. She had grown stronger, more powerful, and worse, influential.Rosalyn sighed dramatically, swirling the crimson liquid in her glass. “We should have killed her when we had the chance, if not because
••NO POV••"I'll take my leave now Alexa, it's pretty late, I can't be here anymore, let's speak in school further," Saying that Florentia left almost immediately.Just as Florentia left Dominic came inside, his face looking worried as he glanced at Alexandra, "well, Alexa, you have been struck to the room while day, why don't we go out?" "Out?" Alexandra asked with an innocent face, "To where?" Dominic said, "you'll know it, please come with me." She couldn't say no to him at the sametime, she doesn't want to stay at home anymore, so decided to go along with him.He took her to the forest for a date to make her mind peaceful from all the tensions. The night air was chilling, carrying the faint scent of trees and damp soil as Dominic led Alexandra deeper into the woods. Moonlight has filtered through the tall trees, casting silvery shadows along the forest floor. The cool breeze brushed against her skin, but she barely noticed, it was hard to feel the cold when Dominic was besid
••NO POV••"Let me show you something interesting!" Florentia giggled, Alexandra looked confused, "Interesting?" A dim glow from the bedside lamp casts soft shadows across the room, highlighting the delicate golden key in Alexandra’s palm. It was small, light, and seemingly ordinary, but Florentia’s expression said otherwise.“This,” Florentia said, her voice low and measured, “isn’t just any key, Alexa, this is a legacy, a weapon, and now, it belongs to you.”Alexandra turned the key over in her fingers, running her thumb across the intricate engravings. She frowned slightly, skeptical. “What do you mean, it belongs to me?”Florentia smirked, leaning back against the headboard. “It chooses its master. You don’t just hold it, you command it.”Alexandra scoffed, shaking her head. “So it’s a magic key?”Florentia chuckled. “In a way, yes.” Then, more seriously, she added, “Close your eyes, Alexa.”Alexandra hesitated, glancing at her friend’s face, searching for any sign of a trick. Bu
••NO POV••"What's the time?" Alexandra frowned looking around. The morning sun had no place in Alexandra’s world today. The heavy curtains in her room remained shut, blocking out the golden rays that attempted to seep through. The air was thick, suffocating even, as she lay in bed, staring blankly at the ceiling. Her mind was a battlefield, torn between disbelief and the cruel possibility that Theon had been telling the truth. You’re not who you think you are.The words replayed in her head like a broken record. You’re not their daughter, you’re the real Alpha’s child.Alexandra clutched the blanket tighter around her. How was she supposed to process this? If Theon was lying, it was a cruel, twisted game. But if he was telling the truth...Her heart pounded in her chest. The crescent-shaped birthmark on her wrist burned into her thoughts. It had always been there, something she had never questioned. A simple mark. Nothing more. But now… Now it was a symbol of everything she didn’t
••NO POV••"Why am I the one centre of everything always?" Alexandra thought to herself, as she couldn't bring herself to say anything at that moment. However, before she could realise, she fell asleep in the arms of Dylan, and looking at Dylan who is asleep peacefully, Dylan gently caressed her hair, "Looks like you're so terrified, I'm so sorry my love....." She curled herself like a ball in his arms, he also hugged her protectively. As she was sleeping peacefully, Dylan couldn't help but to think what might be spoken by Theon."That bastard! What exactly did he say to her? Why is she so terrified? Did he threaten her or something?" The mere thought of him threatening her, he immediately turned furious, "That bastard, if I were to find him again, I'll bury him alive." "My Lord, we reached," the driver said, that's when Dylan finally realised that they reached the house, he calmly got out of the car along with Alexandra. As she was sleeping peacefully in his arms, he carried her i
••NO POV••"They're coming," Neville sighed dragging Florentia to the another corner. While Neville and Florentia are struggling to come out safe.On the other side, The air at night was so cool laced with the faint scent of roses from the garden surrounding the lavish event. Alexandra stood near the grand fountain, arms crossed, her mind far away from the music and chatter of the party. She had never felt comfortable in places like these, too many eyes, too many whispers, however today she is trying her best to stay calm and not to overreact. She was about to leave when a familiar presence stood behind her."Theon."She spoke his name without turning, already recognizing his scent. A scent that once made her mesmerized, but now only made her stomach twist in disgust."Alexa," his voice was softer than she remembered, carrying an unusual hesitation, it wasn't like this before when he rejected her coldheartedly. She finally turned, facing the man she has hated to the core. His nor
••NO POV••"It's not time yet," Neville coming back sighed, "At that place, guards are heavy, I think it's time for us to go in to clear suspicion of those people." Alexandra sighed, "Did anyone find out about you?" "No, but people almost noticed me, so let's not be here anymore, let's go inside," Florentia said, together all of them went inside without making a sound and stayed in their original position.Just then, music filled the grand hall, a symphony of elegance and rhythm guiding the guests to the dance floor. Theon, with a confident smile, extended his hand towards Alexandra, expecting her to accept without hesitation, "Shall I have a dance with you beautiful?" Alexandra remembered how he insulted her back then and called her disgusted, and asked her sister to dance with him, now he is acting all innocent and good. That infuriated her, almost immediately, but she didn't say anything, not even a word.Rolling her eyes, being unimpressed by his audacity. Instead, she turned
••NO POV••"Why does this voice sound so familiar?" Alexandra felt inwardly and turned around only to find Professor Jackson."When did you meet him?" Florentia whispered, "Do you know him already?" "Are you familiar with him?" Neville asked, Alexandra responded with a gentle smile, "Well, I met him in the library, not that familiar or close." Professor Jackson approached them, his tone polite yet filled with intrigue. "How are you dear?" Jackson asked her gently, Alexandra smiled at him, "I'm fine, thanks for asking me professor, I hope you're doing well....." Jackson smiled back at her, "Yes, I'm doing well dear, glad to see you here, I feel relieved as soon as I seen you." Alexandra couldn't help but to let out a gentle smile, the group immediately straightened, exchanging quick glances before excusing themselves, leaving Alexandra alone with the professor."Woah, Alexa is truly an amazing girl!" Florentia praised her, "Professor Jackson is someone so hard to approach even for
