29 A Calm

"Clive, I want those two knuckleheads dismissed," Ronan told his driver calmly.

"Yes, sir," Clive replied. I was still shaken, but relief washed over me. I was grateful.

When we arrived at the house, Ronan and I rushed inside.

We could hear Katya crying from her room. We both hurried to her crib, finding her alone and distressed. I was soaked and couldn't pick her up, so Ronan gently lifted her in his arms, trying to soothe her.

"Go and shower and change your clothes. I will stay with her tonight," he said softly.

I realised he wasn't going upstairs, which meant Arya wouldn't know he was home.

I had a feeling that tomorrow wouldn't be pleasant for Arya. At that moment, all I felt was immense gratitude.

"Once you are done, you can come," Ronan added. I nodded, still processing everything that had happened.

I didn't spend too long in the bathroom. I slipped into a simple pair of pyjamas and returned to the room.

By then, Ronan was dressed only in his vest and trousers.
