"Master Ronan hasn't been gone for long, and you've already been cruel to his child. What kind of wife will you be?" I asked, my voice trembling with anger and sadness.

Arya walked up to me and slapped me hard across the face. The sting of her hand left my cheek burning.

"Slaves don't talk back to their masters," she hissed. I looked at her with defiance, my heart pounding.

"I am not your slave, and you are not my Master. So watch it, Arya. If you ever speak to that girl like that again, I will risk everything to make sure you are exposed," I said, my voice steady despite the fear bubbling inside me.

She laughed, a cold, mocking sound that sent shivers down my spine.

"Who will you expose me to? Ronan? Do you think he will believe you? A lowly Belvarian slave? You're just a nanny and a servant, nothing more. You can't do what I can for him," She said and looked at me mockingly.
